Trending news from our home station V one O three
in Chicago. Chicagoans and people around the country are outraged
about a viral video showing a group of young kids
attacking a mother and her nine year old son while
she was walking him home from school. These kids surrounded
the mom, surrounded the sun, ridiculed them, bullied them, beat them,

and stomped them. The victims were taken to the hospital
in serious condition. Now take a listen to Illinois State
Senator Willie Preston, who recently spoke at a community rally
right outside the school.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
The video is a symptom of something that's been going.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
On for a long time. We haven't held these kids accountable.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
We haven't held parents accountable for the violent actions that
they told they are doing and that they aware of.

Wow, yeah, this is a problem. That video, that what
we saw.

Can I see the video because I haven't seen it. Oh,
hearing this, we don't, we want.

But how old the sun was?

Nine? The sun was nine years old?

We talk in elementary to junior high, right, and there.

Bullying and yeah, it's been going on for years.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
Yes, it's been getting bullied for years.

Speaker 4 (01:16):
And I think the people in the community, you know,
in the area. They are calling for the Chicago Public
School system and the leadership to do a better job
of protecting, you know, the kids, their safety and they're
well being and prioritizing.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
That well, you know, you know, bullying. You're right, carl
it because bullying is a major issue at school, always being.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Yeah, I was bullied at school.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Yeah. Now it's cyberspace creates a whole nother level to
it because they can communicate, organize, meet you to follow this.

Probably, I don't know what happened.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Seems like the mother went up to the school for
some reason, was walking the boy home or something. I
don't walking and and and and here that oh you're
gonna go get your mind.

They followed them. They followed them, you see it on
the video. They followed them while walking.

On a boy year old and his.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
Mind and his mom. Yeah.

Yeah, yes, it's unbelievable.

It is unbelievable.

You have to hold these kids responsible with the actions parents.

This is parenting, Yes, this is parenting, allowing your kids.
This is the laws we have allowing your kids.

This is the freedoms we got.

We gotta shut this down, and we got to do
a better job of policing ourselves in our community.

Yes, because this was ours, this is our community for
no reason.

Is disappointing.

Yeah, it really really is.

A lot of it on the parents to me, because
you know, this is after stoopid, this is walking home.
