According to USA Today, the Godfather of Soul, James Brown,
was raised in Augusta and lived there most of his life.
Back in two thousand and five, James Brown unveiled a
statue of himself, and it has become a prominent landmark
in the Augusta common Area. The statue will be temporarily
relocated today while the downtown space is being redesigned. The

statue will be securely stored in a climate controlled environment
at the Augusta Museum of History for safe keeping during
the construction, and then be returned to Broad Street for
the new James Brown Lanier Park. That's good news, leaves
