Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, guys. Uh. There was a post on Instagram recently
that basically said, quote, we have a problem in America.
When you're talking to people and you say did you
hear about the mass shooting? And their response is which one?
That's a problem in America? All right, Yes, that's a

(00:21):
serious problem. Uh. An ex marine smashed a pickup into
a church of Jesus Christ Latter day Saints in Michigan,
opened fire and set the building on fire during Sunday service,
and then was fatally shot by police. I mean, what
can you Yeah, and smash this pickup into the church.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Yeah, start and killing people, just open fire and then
set the church.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Set it on fire. Yeah, Jesus, I know there are
no words. I have no words. I mean we said everything.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
I don't know what to say. And there's no warning,
you know, for people who who are about to get attacked,
there's no warning. It's just this is just in a
matter of seconds as something that is happening, and the
Lord you're shy, Yeah, and all of a sudden, this
can't deserve that, man, nobody deserves that.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Yeah. And then in North Carolina, a former marine is
in custody after pulling up by a boat and killing
three people at a waterfront bar.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
I saw that too.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Yeah, this is like what what when will it end?
Is a question? You know. I mean we say this
all the time. We have to come together as a country,
try to come up with solutions. I mean we say this,
but nothing is ever done. It's almost like we sit
back and wait for the next one because we.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
Don't want to do anything with the guns.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
We don't want to.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Control it, sensible gun laws, gun control laws. It seems
like we are numb to what's happening in the country.
And just like you started the segment off surely when
you said we have a problem in this country. When
you're talking to someone and ask about the mass shooting
and they say, which one that's a problem. Yeah, that's
a serious problem in this country. And then you say,

(02:15):
we offer thoughts and prayers some of our political leaders.
These people were literally in church praying and they got killed.
So now we need action besides everybody saying thoughts and prayers.
Children that were killed recently in the mass shooting in Minnesota,
they were in church, you are, that's what these little

(02:37):
kids are doing, and we're saying thoughts and prayers. We
need action.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
We can't be this still pray, but you gotta crazy
can pray.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
What the crazy part about it is the president doesn't
speak on any of these things.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Outrage, there's no I don't say nothing.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Yeah, only and I think Steve Steve would say that
it's best only and we definitely don't want this to
happen when it happens to them. Yeah, if exactly exactly,
then maybe then.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
You might then you might get some results.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Yeah right, And that's unfortunately you're listening to Dave Hardy

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
