Speaker 1 (00:02):
Our special guest today is an esteemed journalist and author.
We've been biting him to give his insight and update
on the presidential election. Let's take a listen, the one
and only my man, my colleague. Put your hands together,
Roland Martin.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Good morning, good morning, welcome back, appreciate it all right, Roland,
let's jump into it.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Man.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Everything is shifted, everything has changed.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Brother, what's your insight and do do you think this
was a good step for Biden to step down?

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Well?

Speaker 2 (00:30):
He was.

Speaker 4 (00:30):
He was left with no choice.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Remember since June twenty seventh, Democratic Donor, Democratic and Lade
have been constantly attacking him.

Speaker 4 (00:41):
And what was crazy is a week after the debate,
poles were virtually time but because.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
Democrats wouldn't let it go, that the lead began to
widen for Donald Trump and there was a point of
no return for President Joe Biden. If Democrats had coalesced
thrown him like Republicans, you would have the issue. Remember, dults,
I'm live thirty times in that debate. The publicans didn't
talk about his line. He lied twenty two times in

(01:09):
his acceptance speech. The publics didn't focus on his line,
but Democrats did, and so this is where we are.
And the fact of the matter is for Vice President
Kamala Harris, they have the level of support that she's
gotten in the first you know, forty eight hours of
this is huge, you know. And what I'm surprised by

(01:29):
is President Barack Obama, you know, President Bill Clinton and
Hillary Clinton in doors term, the candidate. Everybody keeps saying
that she could be who could be fighting for the
nomination indorse term, Obama endorsed an open process. I didn't
know what the hell that's all about. And I think
what's going to happen is he's going to look up
and realize that was a mistake because the party in

(01:52):
the base is quickly saying we are back in this
suche for president exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Let me ask you this, Roland.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
From what I'm understand and what I'm hearing, is that
the Republicans are asking for for President Biden to step
down now and not even finish out the next six months.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
That's stupid, Thank you.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
The President.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
And so you knew that was coming. Uh.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
In terms of I mean if in fact, it's interesting.
I even had some Democrats call me, uh and folks
to try to convince me that well, it would be
it would be better for Vice President Harris if Biden
stepped down from the presidency and then she could run
as an incumbent. I said, food, Do y'all understand how

(02:38):
the stock markets would respond? Do you understand how world
leaders will respond? Do you understand that? Then the House,
the Republican lay a house would then be one hoot
in hearings or.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
A vice president I said, she she can't.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
Run the country and ruber re election at the same
time in the short window. Then they were like, yeah, that's.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
A good point. Rolls when anything about that? Like what
a y'all thinking about?

Speaker 2 (03:03):
You know?

Speaker 4 (03:03):
But no, the body is not stepping down.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
And so all those Republicans who are saying you should
have resigned the president? Zee thin.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
Can I'll go to help?

Speaker 2 (03:12):
Are you right? Tell us how you really feel that?

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Well, well, well, when you own your own show, your
own network, you can say what you want to say.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
I doubt it, that's what and that's what he does.
That's what he does. Hey, Roland, man give for those
that don't know. Man, let's you know, we keep talking
about it. Can you give some insight on Project twenty
twenty five? That what people should know about what exists
in that actual project.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Project twenty twenty five, which we all call him hashtag
Trump's Project twenty twenty five is one of the most
evil plans that I've ever seen. If you can imagine
every crazy thing the hard right has ever wanted, it
is in the Project twenty Black people over index as

(04:04):
federal workers. They want to or they want to require
and all federal workers take a mega loalgy pledge and if.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
They do not plange to MAGA, they will be fined.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
That's a lot of black people. Second of all, they
want to target every program that has benefited African Americans
when it.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
Comes to from an action, when it comes.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
To economics, they're targeting everything. They strongly believe in anti
white racism, that this is a problem in this country,
and so they want to advocate anti white racism, which
we all know is an absolute shoke. It is about
one thousand page plan. And this is when you know

(04:56):
is real. Donald Trump has spent so much time I'm saying,
I don't know what it's this, I don't know what
it is. I've never heard of this, because they know
how potent it is. Folks go to my Instagram go
to my Twitter. I've been posting videos, posting graphics.

Speaker 4 (05:13):
About the things that they want to do. And I'm
telling you and listen by.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
Voice his horse, but listen, that's all right.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
They will, they will.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
In act Project twenty twenty five if they win. Donald
Trump said in his speech in the potational mention, I'm
going to rehire Tom Holman, who is that the author of.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
Project twenty twenty five. They are not playing day one.
This is going to happen day one, day one, day one.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
It is the most dangerous political document that I have
ever seen since the days of Jim Crow.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
Woo you better right there, yeah, yeah, yes, yea. We
have got to get out and vote. We gotta vote, though,
we gotta votetau numbers.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
But I don't just want to say we just need
to vote. First of all, before you can.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Vote, you have to register. That's important. So wherever you're listening,
check the registration deadline in your state. But remember Republicans
in certain states.

Speaker 4 (06:20):
Are also throwing people off the rolls.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
So double if you say I'm registered, double check your registration.
Make sure you have not been removed from the voting rolls,
because they've been doing that.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
And the other thing is, hey, hey, Roland, we're gonna
were gonna take a break, man, take a commercial break.
We're gonna come back. We want to talk to you
some more.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Man.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
We'll be right back with more of the Steve Harvey
Morning Show with our special guests.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Roland Martin. You're listening Morning Show.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
We are back. We are back when we left. We
have my man here, Roland Martin. We are talking politics.
We are talking president, We are talking what is next
for this country?

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Roland?

Speaker 1 (06:55):
The question I keep asking, man, how do we get
the youth to get it out and vote? How do
we get our young adults to get out and vote?

Speaker 2 (07:03):
What is it?

Speaker 1 (07:04):
Because that I don't think they're into it. I don't
think they care.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
You're right.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
I mean when you look at the voting status, people
who are sixty five.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
And older vote the most out of anybody, and as
you go down in age demographics, the number gets lower
and lower.

Speaker 4 (07:19):
But this is how we have to do it. First,
I don't care whether they're young, little age, or old.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
We have to say, namely three things you care about,
and they name those three things. We have to explain
to them that the presidency, the House, and the Senate governors,
state reps, state senators, city council members, county commissioners, school
board members, judges, das. All of those people play a

(07:45):
critical role in whatever the three things they care about.
We have to then tell explain to them that when
you sit at home, that's actually a vote. So therefore
you're leaving your power at home. When Harold Washington became
the first black mayor of Chicago, say eighty five percent

(08:05):
of all eligible black voters.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
Voted yes, folks, we have to understand.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
Part of the problem that we're seeing is for leaving
our power at home. If we hit in every city
seventy percent.

Speaker 4 (08:21):
Of our numbers, we can sweep elections.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
Twenty twenty two, fifty thousand fewer black people voted in
Milwaukee in twenty twenty. Had those fifty thousand people voted
in Milwaukee, Mandela Bonds, a black man, will be the
United States Senator and not maga Ron Johnson because he
only lost my twenty six thousand votes. We have to
understand basic politics, and that is you have to first

(08:48):
have power to heeld power, and you cannot have power
unless you turn out and vote. Now, if somebody says, well,
you know I got issues with Colin Harris. Okay, fine,
sit down and write the ten things I care about
and then say where does Kamala Harris and where does
Donald Trump come on those ten? And it will have

(09:10):
the most been aligned with you and so you vote
for But we have got to stop complaining about this issue,
this issue. Have a young person say, man, I ain't
voting because it don't matter, but I'm going to protest.
That means you're just going for a walk in the park.
You cannot call for policy changes unless you change the politicians,

(09:35):
so we cannot check out of the process. We cover
this up five days a week on World but unfilchers
on the Black sid Network is real.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
And your insight all of that.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Thank you, Thank you, Roland. You always got the knowledge
and wisdom. Man, I appreciate you. Stopping with that.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
Is at I will vote dot com.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Yep, we're gonna high left you again soon. We're back,
definitely calling you back. You're listening to The Hardy Morning Show.
