Shannon Sharp announced he's chosen to take a leave of
absence from his co hosting job at ESPN's First Take
in light of his sexual assault and battery lawsuit by
a twenty two year old female that he said he
is said to have had a rocky two year consensual
relationship with. Last Thursday, Shannon issued this statement on Instagram.

(00:22):
He said, quote, my statement is found here, and this
is the truth. The relationship in question was one hundred
percent consensual. At this juncture, I'm electing to step aside
temporarily from my ESPN duties. I will be devoting this
time to my family and responding to and dealing with

(00:43):
these false and disruptive allegations set against me. I planned
a return to ESPN at the start of the NFL preseason.
That was his statement, Steve, you know, I hope for.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
His sake it works out exactly that way. Now, he
didn't step way just to handle this that that wasn't volunteered. Yeah, it.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Was necessary.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Oh no, they went to him and said, we're gonna
give you a chance to step away, just step away
right now, or we're gonna have to you know, because
that's the normal procedure thing it is. I have not
cared the way man Stephen a man. He did another
take on this where he got up from behind the
desk and walked out to the front to talk about this.

And you know, I just wish he would run some
of his statements by somebody.

Person, no one, or just himself.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
But he needs some other counsel. I can't explain it
because he didn't really say anything except now I'm talking
about this. I'm not talking about Shannon Shop, but you
were talking exactly about Shannon Sharp in your statement because
you were talking about you don't understand why these players
are not understanding what's going on. Then he's self absorbed.

You know why you never see anything like this going
on about me. Careful, brother, careful, you have to be
careful because false accusations can happen to anybody, and they
can tie to some form of truth. Now do I
believe that Shannon Shop had a consensual relationship with this person. Absolutely.

The problem is this consensual relationship has a claim in
it of some force happening. That's where his problem is.
It ain't the consensual and then a new little dude
or somebody coming out and that ain't what person's preference
and all that is is not against the law. What's

against the law's force of any kind the me too,
that's that's the problem. And so I just wish that
date rape.

You could go out with somebody on a date and
you canted to have a date with them, but they
forced themselves on you, then that's ripe. So just because
they had a consensual relationship that particular day, she may
have said.
