as performance at the Grammys because I had heard the song,

I loved it, man. Now I heard that Boosey Collins

was it, That's what he came up with. And then
we said, all right, we're not gonna argue with with
the og and we'll take it. You could have answered anything, yeah, man.
And we saw you guys perform Sunday night at the
Grammys and you all really lived up to that name
Silk Sonic. Man, how did this all come about? Whose
idea was it for the two of you to join

together with this dynamic duo? Andy Glad, you know what
I'm saying. So baby and Andy went on tour in
twenty seventeen, getting his band the Free Nationals, my band,
the Wholigans. We all got along and you know, we
watched and every night whooping nasal on stage and friendship.
Me and Andy started to go into the studio. We

(03:43):
were out in like Germany, sneaking off from and going
to a studio try to right records. One record ended
up on Andy's album on Ventura, and we had an
idea that we never finished. And while Quarantine was happening,
after a couple of months of not coming to the studio,
I went back into the studio and one of those
ideas I called Andy up actually on his birth burning.

(04:06):
I said, I think I got the fact that idea.
I think I got to plush out. I got a
core progression for it comes to the studio. Yeah, I
was up to Brown that night. Yeah, so he comes
up drunk. All about that, yet that he comes doing
his hell and sang his ass off. So a couple
of dakes. He actually sings better drunk, which is weird,

(04:26):
but we all do it. But it kind of just
turned into like, uh, you want to come back tomorrow,
and it just you know, went from down. It was
like a rocket ship and we ended up getting a
collection of songs. It was so proud of. But being
leading the door open and leaders are open. I think
it is um. I think both Andy and Knowledge man,
this is you know, it's a ballad. It's got core

(04:50):
changes and modulates that the groom changes up in the middle.
It's a very expcious It's really not not really like
um TikTok f and lee or like uh, how don't
we you know or people you know it's listening to
in twenty twenty one. But it's just kind of like,
this is this is what you know, this is what
it sounds like if you know, when me and Andy

(05:11):
in the studio and this is what we love, and
this is what we want to this is what we
want to do and what we want to play. That's
Andy on drums one take, I'm on guitar, dmon piano.
I got my friend Brody on bass, and it was like,
that's what that's what we do. That's a gold sting. Yeah,
Larry Larry Gold, who's a legend. Uh. We got him
to do a string arrangement and a Philly soul legend.

He did a string arrangement for us, and it was like,
you know, this is what we love. We don't know
if the world's gonna love this, but this is what
we love and you know, hope for the best. Wow.

with you, Anderson, where does this love for this sound
come from? It was my mama. This is this is
all the music my mom was playing, and my mom
didn't do nothing past like if it was about Tony Tony,
Tony was probably about as new as it's gonna get.
Other than that, it was all gonna be earth pointing

fire and uh, you know think Beverly and made Stevie
Wonder and prints all that stuff. But I knew all
that stuff before I even knew about like Snoop and
Dre and stuff. I just that was the music that
was going in my home, and that was the music
that was in the car, and we weren't allowed to
I want to play this another that my mom was
very strict about that you're gonna listen to all this

(07:45):
and you're gonna know about the dramatics and the dells.
And I'm in you know, second grade, you know, singing
all these songs, and I just thought that was the
way to sing, and that was that was how music
was made, you know, And that that developed more into
me playing drums in the church. That start there at
the house my mom My sisters was a musical musical
ouber Wow. I mean I've talked to you about this, Bruno,

because you and I had a conversation backstage one time.
My heart yes, I said, brother, you have no idea
you are about to be mega. I said it. Then
for you, Bruno, where does this love for this sound
come from? Steak? Thank you? By the way, I remember

for me, the love of this is my father. Actually,
you know, my father was big on vocal groups, starting

from Dudwalk I name my first album DUFs Houligans, and
then later on, you know, he started introducing me to
to sixties and seventies soul groups like the Fine Stylistics,
to Dramatics, the Old Days and Spinners and and of
course the Jackson Five, you know. And I remember being
a kid telling my dad, you know, like, no, you
gotta listen to this new edition and you gotta listen

to this Bobby Brown and you know, and here I am,
and I basically turn it to my father listening to
everything because for some reason, I think that's what Bret broke.
You know, first of all, that's how me and Andy
clicks up so easily. It's like that's alway one is

(09:32):
listening to this music that our parents put us on
and you know, admiring the production and like you said,
the harmonies and just the one on one songwriting. You know,
like it's not it doesn't got to be over complicated
if you just say the right thing at the right
time with the right note. And bottom line is the
