Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
This is from MJ and Steve harbfm MJ says, my
wife and I have been married for eleven years. We
have a nine year old daughter together, and my wife's
teenage son from her first marriage lives with us full time.
Everyone in our house seems happy and well adjusted except me.
For the last few years, I've felt increasingly dissatisfied with

(00:22):
my life. I've told my wife how I feel, and
she's verbally supportive, but she won't actually do anything to
change things. I've suggested trying new things together, moving to
a new house, anything to break up the monotony, but
since she's happy, she has no motivation. I love her
and our kids, but I'm starting to wonder if I

(00:43):
should leave because no one else wants change. Am I
out of line for feeling this way? Should I get therapy,
try a trial separation?

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Well? Brouh, what's wrong? You know?

Speaker 3 (00:55):
I mean, I appreciate you writing it, but what's wrong?
You seem like you're bored, You're not happy with where
you are in life, or you just don't like the house,
or you don't think you're getting anything in return. Look, man,
being a husband and a father is a hard job.

(01:17):
Because you're not gonna get it one hundred. If you're
expecting that, you're not. Marriage is not fifty to fifty.
Since stop all that. It's not fifty to fifty. Never
what's set up to be that way. It's eighty five fifteen.
They get eighty five, you get to fifteen. You have
to learn how to take that fifteen, maximize it, adjust

(01:38):
and enjoy it. And that's not anything that's crazy to
say to a man, because are you not taking pride
or showing gratitude for what you've accomplished? Are you losing
sight of what you've accomplished as a man because you're overly.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Concerned of what you haven't accomplished.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Now, if you've made a life where everybody in your
family's happy, brother, you've done a hell of a job
as a father and a husband, you've done a hell
of a job. Your wife is trying to be supportive,
but she don't really know what's wrong, and based on
your letter, I don't either, So, brother, I think you
should focus on the things that you have gotten right.

(02:19):
You have been an excellent provider, an excellent protector. You've
taken in this boy that was from another marriage. You
provided a father figure for him. Y'all got a nine
year old daughter. Your wife is happy you want to
move to a big or different house.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
They don't want to move. Bruh.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
You probably need to go get some therapy because you
need to talk to somebody about your feelings, because I
don't know what you're feeling.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
So that's my suggestion to.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
He mentioned therapy.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Should go get therapy?

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Yeah, you probably should, man, since that's on your list
of things to do.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
I pray my way out of spey.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Okay, all right, we have time for another one, Steve.
This is from JJ and Steve HARVFM. JJ said, it's
weird that I'm writing this on social media since social
media has become a problem. My girlfriend and I have
been together for a year and a half, but things
have changed over the last couple of months. She took
a new job, and I guess her coworkers are absurdly

(03:22):
active on social media. Since she started working there, her
screen time is more than tripled and we can't go
anywhere without taking a few dozen selfies. As if that
wasn't enough, she has to double check and approve all
the photos and fix the lighting when it's not perfect.
We don't get to enjoy the places we go because

(03:42):
they've all become background noise to her emerging brand. I
need to talk with her about it, but I'm not
sure how to approach it because I fear becoming content.
I really don't want that kind of life. How do
I handle this?

Speaker 3 (03:56):
Yeah, I can't help you, don't. I can't help you.
A lot of people like that, you know, I know
some people. I got people in my family like that.
You got to take pictures of food before you eat.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
I don't get it. I don't understand.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
I work with a lot of young people. Man, they
keep their phone in their hand. Everything is content.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Everything. You can't go nowhere.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
Every time you put some clothes on, every time you
walk in, they got stories.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Ms. Tarby, put that on your story? What story you're
listening to? The Steve Harvey Morning Show
