Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, so Steve, here we go. Kaylee on Steve
HARVFM says, my best friend comes from serious money and
doesn't seem to understand that not everyone can drop two
hundred dollars on brunch or five hundred dollars on concert tickets.
She always suggests expensive activities and then expects me to
split the bill with her. When we go out to eat,
she'll order way more food than we possibly eat, we
(00:23):
could possibly eat, so she can taste a bit of
everything with no regard to my limited income. I've tried
joking and hinting, but she doesn't seem to get the message.
I don't want to stop hanging out with her and
hate to have to start a serious talk about my
ability to pay, but something has to give. How can
I explain to her that I literally cannot afford her
(00:45):
lifestyle without making things awkward?
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Okay? Not either? Are two friends?
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Yeah? Two friends?
Speaker 2 (00:51):
That's friend. You just got had that conversation. Yeah, and
if she really your friend, she'll understand if she ain't
quit going out with it. That's all right?
Speaker 1 (00:58):
Yeah, that was pretty.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
I have trouble with that. Do you know the last
time I took my family out, I told him. I said, hey, look,
because you know, Marjorie and Laurie orders all the food
when we do family dealers, because they the foodies. The
third food he in the family is winter. Okay, So
they order for the table and then them dog goned
(01:23):
kids add stuff on that they want. Now the next thing,
you know, here come all this food and then this
stuff just sitting on the table getting sent back, ain't
even touched. And so I said, hey, man, listen to me.
Y'all pay attention to what your mama ordered, and then
y'all act accordingly. But don't have all this food come
out here and go back, because that don't make no sense. Man,
(01:46):
That don't make no CeNSE. Bills be high.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
I don't mind you and your your income bracket. What's
high to you?
Speaker 2 (01:54):
You figure it's eight of us sitting here twelve hundred dollars.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
No, it's lord.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Now they ordered at the high end. They twenty five
three thousand dollars plus. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Hey man,
let me tell you what this little crazy one of
the kids of mine.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
We're in New York.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
We're in New York. I wasn't even in New York
with Laurie. I wasn't even with her. We just happened
to be up there at the same time. She found
out I was there. She said, Dad, let's go to lunch.
She had two of her friends with him. I said, okay,
So we go to the first place. It ain't open, okay,
So we walked down the street. She said, Dad, it's
(02:34):
a place I love. It's called cavia something. Every dish
has caveat. I don't care if you are to scramble
eggs caveat. If you or to fish, it's got caveat.
If you are, I don't give it. But if you're
on a hot dog, it's finna be caveat. They don't
have that. But I'm just this caveat everything. So we're
sitting up in here, and I got a couple of
(02:54):
partners with me. I was on a business trip with
and they had some of their friends with him. We
in here ordering I'm watching this cavear come to this table. Now.
These people don't even know what caveat is that we
got with us, And I'm just watching caviar dish after
caviar dish. One dude tasted it, spit it out. Man,
This tastes like South sou little pills are salt? Hey man,
(03:20):
I kid you not for a brunch. When the bill came,
the bill was twelve thousand dollars. WHOA for a brunch?
Speaker 1 (03:35):
WHOA?
Speaker 2 (03:36):
I ain't doing there, buddy, man, Hey man, let me
tell you something. I was so man, I'm talking about
man to the point where the owner of the restaurant
came and said, mister Harvey, did you not enjoy it?
I said, sir, I said, look, man, we just bought
all this food, and here these people don't even know
(03:57):
what caveat is. He felt so bad for me, but
I wasn't saying I wasn't gonna pay. He just heard
my story and he gave me a discount. He said,
if we did, he said, and some of these dishes,
they didn't even open the caveat, so we won't even
charge you for those. But we're going to lunch with y'alls.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
