Speaker 3 (02:34):
How you Thank you for having me well?

Speaker 1 (02:35):
First of all, thank you for coming on Money Making
Conversations Master Class. This is the time of the year.
I'm based in Atlanta. It's coal outside, it's rainy outside, Dominique.
Get me out of this, brother, give me a send
me some place. Give me just do it this way.
Give me the top three location. You get Rashaan McDonald
out of all this coal, all this rain, and have

(02:58):
me feeling happy about my life. Three locations you sent me.
It can't be in the US, it can't be whereever
you want. Say, give me three locations right quick.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
If you can't, I'm gonna tell you right now to
go to would be anywhere in the Caribbean.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
Okay, the time of the year, a lot of give
me Pacific now, Dominici, because I could have said that
now you're not.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
I can send you to twenty different places throughout the
country of Mexico. Okay, you have the Dominican Republic Jamaica.
You have a lot of options there. But we can
also do go where's the beautiful all year round in Aruba?

Speaker 1 (03:35):
Oh yeah, I've been to Ruba. I've been to Ruba.
The great thing. Only place I have not been Dominique
is Dominican Republic. Why is Dominican Republic so popular these days?
Because every time I look around, a friend of mine's
going there. Somebody I know what's going on? Why is
the Dominican Republic so popular?

Speaker 3 (03:54):
They have beautiful resorts, they have beautiful people, and the
local culture and a local scene is just it's thriving
right now. Okay, it is a hot spot in every
big name hotel chain or whatnot are setting up shopping
the Dominican Republic as well.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Now when you go into these places, any language issues, uh,
you know, do you have to know the language to
really enjoy the cultural experience when you go to a
place like the Dominican Republic. Talk to us about that
word you use, hassle free.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Yeah, So based on where we're going, if it's a
heavy if the country has a heavy tourist population, yes, sir,
coming in from the US. Most of the individuals there
do understand the native English language. Now not everyone does
one hundred percent, but they do. I would I always

(04:54):
encourage my clients no matter where we're going in the world.
If you're going into a country and English is not
the predominant language, to at least learn the basic salutations, right,
how to say hello, goodbye, et cetera.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Now, how did you get into business? And then we're
gonna get back into your company, because you know, I know,
I used to be a performing comedian dominic and so
I went to on the cruise ships. I went to
the Ruber, I went to Saint Martine, that went to
every island in the Caribbean, that went to all the
Mexican the popular Mexico ports, you know, and so I

(05:32):
really got to enjoy, you know, I got paid to perform,
and then I got to travel for free. And I
know the value of travel because I have memories that
will stay with me forever when people come to you.
How did you get into business, sir?

Speaker 3 (05:48):
So I got in the business based on my experience.
Back in twenty nineteen, I took roughly fifty people from
Philadelphia to a NFL game in Miami and it was
all all meles. And it was there that I discovered
that people need help and they're willing to pay for

(06:10):
services that can help reduce distress. So these fifty men, ironically,
you know, they didn't have their their their counterparts, their
female partners with them, and so they struggled with you know,
doing things such as checking into the airline, putting luggage
tags on. I created a high level itinerary for the group,

(06:31):
you know, said hey, this is where we're all going
to meet at this time, etc. But they said, you know,
I'm not used to traveling like this alone or just
with other guys do hour by hour itinerary. It was
at that moment I said, okay, I could really help
manage people's stress and anxiety while traveling as well as

(06:53):
you know, I saw an opportunity from a business model
standpoint for my settltants. Said you know, I can do this.
I can jump into this entrepreneur spiece and really help
people manage your stress and it's a win win.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
So you saw these grown men, They're going down to Miami,
Miami all places confused about what to do in Miami.
Now this is Miami, Florida.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
Come on, we had we had we had dinner reservations
set up. I might have had a nice brunch spot
set up, right, saying like these are the highlights of
the day. I might have had the nightclub, but they
wanted to know our by hour, what we were doing.
And then I even tried to escape them and go
get some rest, and they still were calling me, effected me,
and I was like, Okay, I really need to lead

(07:37):
these men. And so you know, I didn't knock them
for it. I said, I'm going to do it, and
I know I don't know what space I need to
get into for from a future career standpoint. And then
right as soon as I thought I had my mojo going,
we got hit with the pandemic. They kind of set
me back for a year.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
Okay, now, how did you Because that was I apologize,
I'm about to complete their thought. Please compete your thought.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
Yeah, no, I was gonna say it because that trip
happened the Black Friday weekend of twenty nineteen. Okay, and
then the pandemic hit the top of the year at
twenty twenty.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
Wow. So you were planning, you saw everything you as
an entrepreneur, you saw your twenty twenty plan. Now, what
happens when this is the part where everything tends to
shut down? Business shut downs, dreams, when everybody see it happening,
then to see it taking away. How did you survive
a travel business when COVID hit?

Speaker 3 (08:37):
So when COVID hit, I wasn't officially in business. I
was brainstorming and pre planning the business plan good. So
when it happened, it kind of you know, listen for me.
I wasn't in business at that time, and I'm grateful
for it. But you know, I have plenty of friends
that I've gained in the industry who've shared their stories

(08:58):
from you know, during that time, and they had to
manage through it. And it was a tough year for everyone.
So a lot of people, you know, were able to
get future travel credits et cetera that they were able
to use in twenty twenty one. In twenty twenty two,
people made out, but it was an initial hassle.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Cool, you know, the beauty of the travel. I'm fortunately
I travel a lot, but it was some One of
your questions is really called my eye dominique. It was
how can people get paid to travel? I've never heard
that so I want to get this out in the
first part of my interview so I can keep my listeners.
So to keep my listeners, how can people get paid

(09:39):
to travel? And we're gonna talk about that for a minute.
Don't you just blow through that in that conversation? How
can that happen?

Speaker 3 (09:44):
I got you. I got you. So there's a number
of ways. I'm gonna slice it up for you. There's
a number of ways you can get paid to travel, Okay, Right,
So the first one is, and this is how I
like to do it. People like to talk to people
who have the experience, right, And so I travel along
the world, across the world on different trips, right, and

(10:07):
I go check out different properties and I and I
go and get content for it. Right now, you might say, well, wait,
how are you getting paid to do that? The pay
comes because when people see that, they're calling my phone,
they're sitting there, they're going online setting up quote requests
and consultations and saying I want to go you know,

(10:27):
I want my family to go there, or or my
husband and I were thinking about going there. Oh my god,
that'd be a great girls trip, et cetera. And right
then and there, there's your booking opportunity, right, and you're
setting yourself up for the future.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
Right.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
So that's that's one way to look at it, right.
This one way to you know, get paid for it.
The second part is you know, as a travel agent,
you get commission from booking people's travel services.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
Right.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
So what we like to do is we do conciente
service anyone can go because I have a lot of
clients that call to say, well, what's the difference between
your price and what I can get on Expedia? Right.
Air's my argument. I have access to a number of
booking sites and platforms besides Expedia. I also have access

(11:18):
to Expedia Booking, so I can match your price. But
my goal is always to beat what you see online.
But when you come to someone like me, it's not
about just booking your flight in a hotel. A lot
of times what you what you miss out on when
you're doing that. Now you're stressed trying to figure out, well,
what language do they speak? How do I get around,

(11:40):
you know, the island if I'm going to an island, right,
So now you you're trying to figure out how can
I get a driver, what activities do they have? Run?
That's when someone like myself comes in and I pick
your brain. During our initial consultation, I find out what
kind of what kind of what kind of enjoyment or
activities you like on vacation, right, and I tell her

(12:01):
your activities based on your pallet right, And out of
that now I'm creating a customized concierge service. And I'm
telling in your vacation to you and to you only
anyone can give you a jack you know, out of
the box. Oh, here's the all inclusive anyone can do
that right right, Okay, after you know, two three days.

(12:23):
Now I'm starting to figure out, well, I might want
to venture off the resort, right, I might want to
get some local culture experience. Go taste some local foods,
do a local cookie exhibition, wine tour, et cetera. How
do I do those things? People like myself have access
and we know the ins and outs because we've been

(12:43):
there and we send clients there frequently. So that's another avenue.
And then I would say that the third avenue of this,
this is how people can get paid to travel.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
It's a third avenue, get paid, get paid to travel.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
Here's the third thing. Group trips. Group trips are always
ahead right, So I can host the group trip. As
the host, I take a group of people to a
certain destination. And groups are that's where you really get
the value for your services because when you host the group,

(13:18):
you're hosting all day and night throughout the entire time.
And while you're doing that, the group is expecting you
to be, you know, be on your game, be that
go to person, create the group that you know, make
sure the drivers are on time.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
Guys right, kind of like what.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
That with the fifty guys. That's all did with the
fifty guys. But additionally, here's another secret. If a client
calls you want to say I want to host the group,
I set them up with the group, and guess what,
the client doesn't really they don't realize this initially. The
client also can receive some kind of commission or kickback

(13:56):
based on a number of rooms bet or sold during
that trip. They make travel for free. And so those
are the kind of things that you don't get if
you go through this work on your own. Now, there
are some people out there that do it on their own.
They're really good at it. And I say, if you're
really good at it, call someone like myself and come
on over to the good side and let'st and monetize

(14:19):
your talent. Family's always calling you, your friends are always
calling you. You know. So I do everything from I
do corporate travel, I do group travel. I do weddings,
destination weddings, you know, vacations, whatever you want to do.
I set it up.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
Cool.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
Well, hold over there, Dominique, because we're not through it you.
I want to go to break and when we come back,
we're gonna find out some more about these races that
he's tied to. Also, I have a way that you
can travel and not so much get paid, but you
can get free trips. I'm gonna drop that hint, that
little clue on you two when you get back, Okay,
because like I said, I was in the cruise industry

(14:57):
for a long time and there's some tricks, not so much,
but I would just drop that into your mailbox. Don't
go nowhere. You listen to Money Making Conversation Masterclass, and
my man Dominique, if you want to travel right, he's
the right man to call.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
Please don't go anywhere. We'll be right back with more
money Making Conversations Masterclass. Welcome back to the Money Making
Conversations Masterclass hosted by Rashaan McDonald money Making Conversations. Masterclass
continues online at Moneymakingconversations dot com and follow money Making

(15:33):
Conversations Masterclass on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
Welcome back to Money Making Conversations. Dominick. I want to
make sure I say your name correctly, Dominique. I'm saying Dominique.
You know, Dominique will because I'm in Atlanta. I apologize, Dominique, Nick, Dominique, Dominique, Hey, Dominique,
you know, I the great thing about cruising, and I
always recommend I love cruising. Do you book cruises?

Speaker 3 (15:59):
I book cruises. Can you tell people don't do it
on another one next month? Well?

Speaker 1 (16:05):
Can you tell people the advantages of doing a cruise
versus sometimes going to an island and and then because
there are some advantages to doing their cruise experience versus
just going directly to an island and just hanging out,
can you talk to them about when you start talking
to clients about the experience.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
Yeah, So one of the biggest advantages of going on
cruises versus going to one island is that on a
cruise you get to see multiple islands, right right, So
you get to go to two to three destinations, you know,
depending on the length of your cruise, and check out
different islands. So that's the one major difference. But it's

(16:45):
a big major difference. Whereas if you're just on an island,
you really you know, you're stuck on that island and
you're only dealing with the culture of that island, et cetera.
If you're looking to get a little more variety and
you trip and try something different, then I highly reckon
the men. Cruises and cruises have I think great entertainment

(17:06):
they do. Most cruises have better entertainment. Then you'll get
on a resort. Now there's some resorts that do it
very well, but for the most part, your cruises are
gonna give you great entertainment NonStop, day in and day out.
And it also depends on the cruise line as well.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
Right that, I agree. You can get top movies like
you do the Disney cruise. You see the Disney movies
like right now, you can look like Mowana Mohana Too
is probably playing on a Disney cruise line right now,
you see it on the main theater. It look fantastic, correct,
Dominique correct yep, And.

Speaker 3 (17:41):
I bet you Lion King comes out on the twentieth,
I'm sure it'll be showing on their ships next week
as well.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
Wow. Now I would just give people a hint about
getting paid, not so much getting paid to travel. But
there's some cruise lines that cater to the older cruise lines,
you know, I'm talking about down. It's like fifteen up,
sixteen up. Now, if you're a single guy, single guy,
well spoke, well groomed, got a nice resume, well, they

(18:11):
will let you cruise for free. Because a lot of
these ladies who do cruise need some dance partners, they
need people to take them to lunch or dinner, they
need somebody to talk to, and this is very popular. Now,
this is not something I'm just making up. And you
are verified that I'm telling them the truth.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
Correct, you are telling the truth.

Speaker 5 (18:31):
Yes, absolutely, because and so if you're like well groomed
and you just sitting at the house and say what
I'm gonna do, you could cruise the entire summer just
hanging out.

Speaker 1 (18:42):
Eating great food, meeting great women, we mean, great people,
and not spent a dime other than tips, because they
want you. If you stand in a room, you gotta
tip the servers or are who are cleaning up your
room on a daily basis, and the people who serve
your meals on the day base that's how they make
their money. But other than that, that's a great experience.

(19:03):
In the midnight buffet on those cruises are at nine pm.
Ain't no midnight buffet on those cluses.

Speaker 3 (19:08):
They are nine pm, absolutely definite.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
But that's why it's important to understand that. You know,
sometimes we as a generation just sit around and I'm
just talking to young men. Call you young because you
still got it going on, still got a little groove
in your step, still got a personality. Still you know
how to put on that suit, and you know, go
on a cruise. Call these cruise lines. I'm not gonna

(19:34):
say out their names. You should do your research, but
there are cruise lines that cater to a population that
is fifty in up. And those cruise lines have an
over abundance of female cruisers. And when these cruise women
get when these women get out there, they kind of
like get bored. They want to make sure they entertain

(19:55):
and you're part of the entertainment. You go over there
and you have a good time the hold week that
you're and like he said earlier, cruise line entertainment is
some of the best entertainment in the world. I can
vouch for that. I can vouch for that.

Speaker 3 (20:07):
It definitely is.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
Now I want to talk to you before we're going
further about this forty city forty five k run campaign.
What exactly is that, Dominique.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
Yeah, So I turned forty in March and over the summer,
I'm a person who when I vacation, you're hard, right,
And vacation hard means eating when I want, drinking what
I want, just staying in the sun and in the pool.
But I realized, because I'm on the road so much,

(20:38):
it's not conducive for a healthy lifestyle, right. And so
I've been battling diabetes since August of twenty sixteen, a
too diabetic. And so I said, you know, I'm traveling,
so I also have a career in healthcare, okay. And
so I'm like, all right, So you have a career
in healthcare, you know you need to improve your health,

(21:01):
and you have this wonderful travel business. How can you
tie it all together? And I said, you know what,
mental health, right, which is very underappreciated, but we're getting there.
We're moving the needle right. I think traveling is therapeutic
for mental health. And so I said, all right, So
how can I tie in my current health situation with traveling?

(21:23):
And I said, you know what, I'm a diabetic. I
got to do better at managing my physical fitness while traveling.
And so I said, you know what, I'm going to
promote running right as a way to manage my diabetes.
And while I'm traveling, I'm going to have fun. And
I'm going to partner with local running clubs or join

(21:43):
local five k races that are already establish and run.
And while I'm doing it, I'm also going to feature
some kind of local business to put a spotlight on
during the tour. So in August I kicked off a
forty city tour. Have completed twenty three of forty cities.

(22:04):
I just came back from Orlando this weekend, and I'm
about to release the other seventeen cities for twenty twenty
five in the next week or so.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
Now, how does that?

Speaker 3 (22:16):
Now?

Speaker 1 (22:16):
How might apologize sir? So you're inviting people to participate
on this particular campaign with you? If so, how does
that work? How do we get in touch with you.

Speaker 3 (22:27):
Yeah. So on the website, I have a great marketing team.
They'll post the dates of the event, or you can
sign up for your sign up for the mailing list,
and they'll send out the details, you know, surrounding when
I'm coming, what race we're doing, or what running club.
And then I'll even go take it a step further,

(22:49):
and I'll also help them make their travel arrangements to
join me if they're traveling to the city with me.
So I've had people travel to the city to run
with me, but I've also had people who joined me
from their local city. When I come to town and they say, hey,
we want to take you here, we want to we
want you to put a spotlight on this business, or
we want you to roam with this club, or let's

(23:09):
do this race together. And I'm all in because I'm
happy that I'm able to have an impact and I'm
inspiring a lot of people during this journey, right man.

Speaker 1 (23:19):
Now, you know, when we talk about travel, there are
so many different versions of traveling. I would I would
know that, and I've just been honest conversation. When I
would perform on cruise ships more a predominant amount of
African American to black people. I would see in the summertime.
When it got to the fall, in the early and
January Febry, I barely saw blacks cruising on the cruiser.

(23:42):
But when it comes May, June, July, August, September, it
was like, what is going on here? It was like
the cruisers were predominantly black? Why is that pattern like that?
I may be asking you too much, but if you
can explain me your travel patterns.

Speaker 3 (23:59):
Yeah, so I'm gonna say so. My opinion is gonna
be very subjective, right, And I think from a culture standpoint,
we think that vacation is only the summertime for whatever
reason we think that. And then you know a lot
of people have children that are in school throughout the year,
and they don't want to take their children out of

(24:22):
school unless it's spring break already off, or in their summertime.
So those are two of the main reasons me. I
think I'm a fan of Look, sometimes our children need
a break as well. So I don't have a problem
personally planning a trip for my family at any time
during the year. Knowing that you can work with your

(24:43):
teachers to get any work that you know they need
to get caught up on or just to help them
stay on track while you're on vacation, but most of
the summer, regardless of your ethnicity, is the biggest bang
from a traveling tourism standpoint, because as the children are
on break cool.

Speaker 1 (25:02):
Now again, how do we get in touch with you?
And so we can because definitely this is a time
of the year to start planning for the summer, which
you get a lot of great deals doing the summer,
but also their deals to be had in the spring
and around the Memorial Day. But talk to us, we
can get in touch with you, sir. Again, thank you
for coming on Money Making Conversation Masterclass.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
Yeah, no problem. That one more thing before I tell
you for our end off on how to contact me. Okay,
we are trying to break that stigma we're traveling only
in the traveling only in the summer. I'm actually hosting
a group for a winter vacation. We're gonna it's called
the European Exchange aka Gelato's and Glaciers, and we're doing
three nights in Milan, Italy, and then we're doing three

(25:44):
nights over in Switzerland and Saint Maritz and we're gonna
do ski lessons, snowboard, et cetera, party, pop champagne in
the snow and enjoy life and the cold. It's a
very unique thing to do. I've tried it, I've done it,
and I said I got to do it again. So
but if you want to contact me for any future

(26:04):
travel needs, the website is Plane like the airplanejj dot com.
On Instagram or Facebook, it's Plane James James. So the
name of the company is Plane, James and James and
it simply means males and females who like to travel.

Speaker 1 (26:26):
I love it. I love it. I appreciate you taking
the time to come on my show and thank you

Intentionally Disturbing

Join me on this podcast as I navigate the murky waters of human behavior, current events, and personal anecdotes through in-depth interviews with incredible people—all served with a generous helping of sarcasm and satire. After years as a forensic and clinical psychologist, I offer a unique interview style and a low tolerance for bullshit, quickly steering conversations toward depth and darkness. I honor the seriousness while also appreciating wit. I’m your guide through the twisted labyrinth of the human psyche, armed with dark humor and biting wit.
