Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, guys, here we are our last break of
the day on this Thursday, and Steve, before we get
out of here, someone else needs some advice. This is
Craig from Facebook. Craig says, my girlfriend of about six
months works at a car dealership. He needs your help.
He says, she works at a car dealership where her
former boyfriend is her manager. It bothers me that she's

(00:23):
with her ex every day. I do pretty well, and
we've talked about her moving in with me. She only
works part time and doesn't make much money, and I
could support her until she finds something else. Would it
be out of line for me to ask her to
quit her job? Or is it over between us? Or
it's over between us? So in other words, he's giving

(00:43):
your thoughts.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Most is too early. I think six months, dog, be honest,
which is too early to try to make this decision.
Either way, I just think it's rather soon. What you
jumping the gun for? What's the rush? I don't understand
why people put their sales under such pressure? You know?
And all it's here? And then do you want to
move in with a person that you're not committed to

(01:08):
or will you want to move in with a person
that you don't know if they're committed to you see,
and a lot of times what you try to do
is I'm gonna offer her to move in me so
I can get her away from him. That ain't no
reason to live with nobody, though, because that's gonna wear
off so fast. So I would reconsider this whole thing.

(01:28):
Why don't you just date it for a while so
you can become a little bit more sure. Don't be
insecure about something and may make a decision based on
your insecurity. That doesn't make any sense because now you're
putting good money after bad. You're chasing something that you

(01:49):
might not need to chase. That's my suggestion to you.
Just slow down. Man's just six months down? Yeah, support
her six months? What you're talking about taking care of
somebody six a month? You know what that's This is
supposed to be a lifetime commitment. You ain't. You ain't
known her for six months now. If that's what you're

(02:11):
gonna do, If you're gonna ask her, man, you go ahead.
If y'all in love.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
I like the answer, and you would have told a
woman the same thing. That's a good answer to you.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Yes, I don't understand this.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
He wants her to quit her job or it's over
between them. That's an ultimatum.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
Bruh, Yeah, because he's trying to control too many parts
of a situation that he really don't have control over.
You asking her to quit your job so she don't
be working under her ex who is her boss. That
solves that problem, but you've created another problem. She already

(02:52):
part time. Now she's fitna be at no time right now.
She ain't under him no more, but now she under you.
And you keep putting this woman in a precarious position
where now you think she's beholding to her old boss
and now she's gonna be beholden to you. I don't

(03:14):
see it. Not a good look, which leads me to
my closing remarks today. You know, man, I think people
have to start doing this. And this is based off
this letter that you just read to me, this request
off Facebook. I want everybody to start thinking like this

(03:35):
because I haven't always thought like that and it's cost
me dearly in my life. But I want you to
know that every single thing you know, it begins in
high school. You remember, like you know, you could get
a grade in the fourth grade and it didn't affect
the fifth grade, you get the clean slate, and then

(03:56):
you go to the third grade and you get a
clean slate. If you go to the fourth grade, well,
once you get to high school, you know it starts accumulating.
You know, you get a GPA average, you get stuff
that starts going towards college credits. That's the beginning of
life training for you. And what you end up winding
up understanding about life is this is that every decision

(04:20):
you make today will affect your tomorrow, and you gotta
start thinking like that. But soon, too many people live
in the now. Too many people want to do what
feels right and good to them today with no thought
about the consequences of tomorrow. Now, are you supposed to

(04:43):
worry about tomorrow? No, you're not supposed to do that.
But you are supposed to prepare in the event that
you are here. That's what plans and dreams and visions
are for. It's for you in the hopes that tomorrow
does come. So what we gotta start doing, and what

(05:07):
I suggest to people more often is start thinking more
about today a little bit more carefully, because it ain't
just today, because tomorrow may very well come. Everything you
do today will affect your tomorrow. Well, I man, I'm

(05:28):
just gonna call in to day. I ain't going down
there to day. I don't feel like it. Man, I'm
gone and chill today. Ah. You having a nice chill day.
Everything go good? All right? Guess what next Friday when
your check come out? And that cooled out, chill out
day you took has caused you to lose a day's pay.

(05:50):
Now here's some consequences for that chilled out day. You
not short. And now that relaxing moment you took that
other day, he has not created a problem for you
because now you tightened up. Because after you pay your
rent in your car note, you ain't got no money
to live on. You see what I'm saying. Start putting

(06:10):
more thought into your decisions that you make today, because
your today's decision will have a profound effect on your
tomorrow's outcome. And that's for everybody. Stop living just for today,
because tomorrow may very well come. Those are my closing remarks.
Think about that, ladies and gentlemen. This is the Steve

Harvey Morning Show. Feel good how you want it.
