Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, guys, here we are our last break of
the day. It's been a good day, it's been a
real one. That is back.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Yeah, Oh, Ugly Steve and Ugly Kid and Junior is
back up in here together.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Ride of dime.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Man.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
I think you're sworn you won't be a tutore.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
You go there, you go.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
You. I had you at a nice place before this
man came back to where last week he was cute, but.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
He was flying to me, thought shirt he knew it.
Yes he Tommy, Yes he knew it.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
Well, while you guys decide who's cute and who's not,
please join me this Saturday, October fourth. I will be
in Chicago, of course everybody knows that's my hometown for
the ninth annual Sister Strut the Pink celebration in honor
of breast cancer awareness. It'll be at the Salvation Army
Ray and Joan Kroc Community Center, twelve fifty West one

(00:58):
hundred and nineteenth on the South Side. It starts at ten.
I'll see you there, nice.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Yes, Yes, I'm ready. You know I've been thinking you
know a lot, you know, m and I discovered something
very quickly. I didn't make this up I heard this

(01:26):
somewhere and it really made a lot of sense. When
you're in the process of trying to become successful, you
have a lot of problems. When you're in the process
of trying to make a lot of money or money,
you have a lot of problems. When you have a

(01:46):
lot of money, you have a lot of problems. But
when you got bad health, you only got one problem.
You only got one. Your health gets your undivided attention

(02:08):
because nothing else matters. And it really came into focus
for me lately, you know, because I've often said, you know,
if you out of time and you out of health,
you big you in a big you in a world
of trouble. You can't afford to be out of either
one of them, because both of them can take you out.
And all I'm saying to people is, especially in our culture,

(02:31):
we have got to take better care of ourselves. We
have got to go get tested, testing, checkups regular. Stop
this ignorance about I don't want to know, because when
you find out what you don't want it to be,
is too late to do something about it. Nah, nobody

(02:52):
likes bad news, man, nobody likes going to the doctor.
Nobodybody likes testing. But man, we got to go in here. Man,
we have to stop this because listen, man, real real
wealth is health because if you're healthy, man, you can

(03:13):
go about the business of creating other things and opportunities
for yourself. But y'all stop putting off these doctors appointments.
Stop not going, stop stop not wanting to know. That
doesn't make any sense. God gives us certain things to
help us. Testing is one of them. Doctors is another thing.

(03:36):
There's holistic stuff out here. There's a real holistic approach
to being healthy. Listen, man, Food is medicine if you
eat it the right way, if you eat it, if
you use it the right way. It's so many ways,
so many routes you could take. But you got to
do better to stay better. You have got to do

(03:57):
better to stay better. He can't just eat anything you
want and expect to stay here. A doctor told me something,
he says, Steve Harvey, it is hard to meet a
three hundred pound seventy year old, he says, hard to
meet him. Man, it is hard to meet a three
hundred pounds seventy year old. He said, I ain't saying

(04:19):
that and out there, but how many of you know
and I couldn't think of one. It's because, man, your
body can't take that stress that long. It's a cost
factor and we have got to take better care of ourselves.
I am on a health and willness kick. Now you
know his announcement, this was the craziest thing to me

(04:46):
I've ever done in a long time. I gave up cigars.
I stopped smoking cigars. Wow, dog, twenty eight years I've
been smoking cigars. But you know, the doctor told me.
I did a test, I did a scan. He said, mister,
I'm gonna be honest with you right now. You don't

(05:07):
have anything, he said, but look at these tests right here.
You see this right here. You see that right there.
Because I was saying, you know, I don't really inhale,
he said that ain't got nothing to do with it,
and he showed it to me. I haven't had a
cigar in two weeks. And man, let me tell you something.
That was the craziest thing. Now, because cigars provided for

(05:31):
me such an outlet, such a joy, I have to
replace that with something. I haven't quite decided what that's
going to be.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Ice cream.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
No, I can't be ice cream, because they took my
little chunk ad off dairy too, so and I've had yeah,
I've had coconut ice cream before. They need to go
and quit making that and quit calling it because I
don't know what it is. Y'all, take care of your

(06:03):
health out there. I'm finna get on health and wellness
to show some things I've learned, and maybe that'll help
somebody else. That could be the new direction I'm headed.
So y'all take better care of yourselves out there. Brothers,
go get tested. God is good. God is in the
blessing business. Congratulations to Tommy who rang the bell who's
cancer free. Congratulations to Ker who was told he would

(06:25):
never survive past eleven. He's almost fifty and sold. Hey, congratulations, everybody.
Take care of yourself, get tested, have yourself a great
day today. Talk to God. He would absolutely love to
hear from you. Peace.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
