Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, I got some closed remarks today. You know, we
was talking earlier and Junior was asking me the question
of in the opening, Junior said, UK, should you pat
yourself on your back when you accomplish things? Should you celebrate?
I said, well, you know it's two things. First of all,
(00:21):
you should celebrate your wins in life and have small
incremental celebrations all along the way. But in your celebrating,
make sure your celebrating is filled with gratitude. That's the
real way to celebrate. Celebrate by being grateful, by giving
(00:46):
thanks and honor to where that blessing came from. Because
however you think it occurred, you do know it wasn't
just you, because it it was just us. We'd arrange
all good things to happen, wouldn't we.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
We'd arrange for it all to happen today.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
If it was on us, everything I've ever asked God for,
if it was on me, I would get it immediately
at the latest tomorrow. I'm willing to wait till tomorrow.
But if I'm a prayed about it today, when I
when I wake up, I want it to be Christmas. Yeah,
(01:30):
but that's not how it works. So when you accomplish something. Yeah,
you should celebrate it, but celebrate with gratitude. Junior said,
should you pat yourself on the back. I don't know
if you've ever tried to do that, But try to
pat yourself on the back. Do you Have you noticed
the difficulty in it? That's because your hand don't belong there.
(01:54):
And I think God kind of designed it that way
to be truthful with you. I think He made it
kind of hard for people put their hand on the
back and pat theyself on the back because it kind
of lets you know, reminds you that you didn't get
there on your own, that you had some help along
the way. It might have been some friends. It might
have been a supervisor, It might have been a coworking,
(02:17):
might have been a stranger that you met on the train.
It might be a book that you read. Something flick
click the switch in you and the light bulb came on.
Don't you know? That's how God works. God sends you
what you need, right when you need it, and he
uses a multitude of ways to get it done. Sometimes, God,
(02:39):
have you thumbing through your Bible and your usuals, open
your Bible to the perfect scripture. I've done that I
can't tell you how many times. Sometimes you'll be thumbing
through YouTube and run across a video that's specific just
for you. Sometimes you'll be scrolling on ig and just
one of the motivational things that come up, and just boom,
(02:59):
it hits you right in the face.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
God look it out for you.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Whenever I ask God to show me a sign, I say, God,
I'm just I'm waiting, but I need a sign.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
He always shows me one.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
So to answer the question, should you celebrate your wins
or pat yourself on the back, I say you most
certainly should celebrate your wins. But when you celebrate, make
sure your celebration is loaded with gratitude thanksgiving. As a
matter of fact, when you pray before you as you pray,
your prayer should start with gratitude. I always try to
(03:35):
remember to start my prayer now. Sometimes you know, look,
get a little ahead of myself and just get to
asking you, get to firing off that what I need list.
But the proper way is to give thanks, to let
him know, hey, look, you've done so much for me,
and I'm gonna tell you. Sometimes I get so caught
up in the thanking him part of the prayer that
(03:57):
sometimes I just go, you know what, I'm good, man,
He'd have done so much for me. Man, you know
I'm really good because when you wake up in the morning,
here's another thing for kind of all over the place
a little bit. But you know who, I'm just stay
with me. When you wake up in the morning and
you feel like you've gotten up on the wrong side
(04:19):
of the bed, you know, it always helps me in
the morning when I kind of wake up and I
feel a little unsorted, like I'm feeling like not myself
this morning, the big rhythms is off or whatever, I
just start thanking him. I start thanking him for everything,
for my health, my well being, for my family, for
(04:40):
my girl, for my kids, for being able to I
thank God that he's made me a loaner and not
a borrower. I thank god that he has put all
the weight he has on my shoulders and never put
no more on me than I can bear. Man, I'm
(05:01):
just grateful. I'm grateful for the crown that I wear,
as heavy as it is heavy as the head that
wears a crown.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
But I wouldn't want it to be no other way.
That's crazy, man.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Somebody said, hey, Steve, you looking back on your life, man,
Like somebody did a video. Somebody works with me did
a video celebrating my forty forty years in the business.
And I didn't know they had done it. This guy
works for me named Jason and Christale. They put a
video together to celebrate my forty years in the business,
which was October eighth, nineteen eighty five. Was forty years
(05:37):
the night I won fifty dollars. And I was looking
at that video, man, and it teared me up a
little bit when I was watching it, because man, I
had forgotten some of that stuff. But I looked back
on it, man, and whoa. Somebody said, hey, man, would
you do it all again?
Speaker 2 (05:55):
Well?
Speaker 1 (05:57):
I would have loved to have missed a couple of
those steps that I had to take. I would have
loved to have skipped over a few things. But if
I hadn't did those things, I wouldn't be who I
am today. So I got grateful for all of that. Man,
God is good. Don't forget that, y'all. So when you'd celebrating,
don't forget to show gratitude. Those are my clothes remarks
(06:20):
of that talk.
