Speaker 1 (00:03):
We are back here on The Gambler with Adam Goffman WRKO.
We come your way Monday to Thursday nights ten to
midnight Eastern time. If you miss anything, do check out
the podcast The Gambler with Adam Kaufman search that full
name wherever you get your podcasts. A lot of great,
very actionable, interesting information that we have given out over
(00:24):
the course of really the last couple of months at
this point, going through the entire AFC, now moving over
to the NFC, going team by team previewing, not just
the betting outlooks, but just all of the insights from
the people that are so much closer to these teams
obviously than we are, and with no exception. We start
(00:44):
our tour through the NFC East, our AFC East counterparts
here in New England obviously, and go to a good
friend of ours who has been on with us multiple times,
and that is Clarence Hill Junior from the Fort Worth
Star Telegram. You can get him on Twitter at Clarence
Hill Junior. Clarence, welcome back to the show.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
How are you well man, How you guys doing.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
We're doing great. Thanks for being with us and we'll
keep you here for a little bit get into this team.
It's a very interesting team where I want to start,
and I know there are a lot of storylines surrounding individuals.
But the thing that I feel like, at least in
my circles, people just keep talking about, is all right, well,
preseason win total nine and a half, ten and a
(01:26):
half depending on where you look. As we know, they
won the NFC East last year, but no team has
won this division in consecutive years since the Eagles, going
all the way back to that run from one to four.
So of course it's got to be Philadelphia this year, right,
Dallas can't do it again? How do you see it?
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:44):
I mean it's funny because Dallas and Philadelphia.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
All today the last three years that you know, one is.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
Dominated, the others dominated, they've all alternated division title, and
history says no one to repeat, and so you have
to think that someone else is going to going to
win it because the Cowboys haven't been able to do
it back to back, probably going back to the nineties.
But the Capitals will bit competitive football team. And there's
(02:12):
so much talk about what they didn't do in the offseason,
so much talk about Jerry being all in and really
not signing anybody. But as far as the division is concerned,
this team still has the best quarterback in the NFCS.
They have the best wide receiver in the NFC. They
still have two best guards tandem the nfcas two best
quarterbacks in the NFCS, the best passers in the NCS,
(02:34):
one of the best kickers in football. They will be competitive.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
They will be a playoff team. What that looks like
ten wins.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
They've won twelve wins in each of the last three years.
You know, Mike McCarthy's not getting enough credit for having
three constated with.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Twelve and five seasons.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
Of course they planned out in the playoffs, but no
coach has won as many games other than m McCarthy's
last three seasons, or other than Andy Reida, for enery,
has two Super Bowls to show forward by.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
McCarthy has three playoff failures.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
But he's done a good job keeping this team competitive
and I think they'll be competitive again. To have to
be a team to make the playoffs, but wants to
make the playoffs. That's pop uk with the Cowboys. You
don't know what you're gonna get.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
Clarence, what's the latest on the contract situation with both
Dak Prescott and Cede Lamb. This is the passing touchdown
leader from a year ago and the receptions leader from
a year ago. If these guys are playing or try
still once we get to the season, if these guys
are still looking for that contract, should fans and betters
be expecting these guys to just have monster contract years
(03:32):
because they're set.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
To get paid.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Well, I mean, I think they're gonna get paid regardless,
and I think bek Is, you know, has a free
to to staring him in the back pocket.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Deck is in camp. Barton goes in with Dak. Are
talking to Dak. He said, he said he's encouraged, but
a deal hasn't.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Been done, and Dak is not gonna take a bad
deal because again he has free to to staring him
in the face with untold millions coming at him. You
look at what the quarterback number is, Look at team
like Oakland and not Oakland that we're in Vegas Raiders
in their quarterback situation. You look at Tennessee, you look
at I know they have a young quarterback, but you
(04:08):
look at New Orleans and some other places that could
be options. In Pittsburgh, you know, you know, they have
not been happy with they've seen from the quarterback and
in preseason. I think that, you know, he will have
some freaking options if the Cowboys don't meet some of
his demands and make.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
It by say quarterback in football.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
What that number looks like, whether it's sixty million, I
think fifty five million is the base being to deal
with Dak Prescott. I think he gets sixty million if
fregency so, you know, they do the two sides have
to come to some deal on that. They haven't done that,
but Dak said he is encouraged by the talk they've had.
As far as Steede Lamberson's learned, he's down in camp.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
He's a barn.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
They need to get him in camp, you know, if
they have a successful season, and I think at some
point before the start of the season.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
It will get done. He's held out.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
He's not been at any offseason programs, Minny camps, has
not been a training camp. But the Cowboys have never
lost the guy they wanted to keep. He always a
cave at the last minute to get the guys side,
like the Zeck in forty nineteen, just like they did
last year. Was Zach Bartin Hill down with a great
person who was the camp I think at some point
the Capitals would get this bill done and make Seed
(05:14):
happy and bring him in Clarence.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
You mentioned twenty nineteen. If we go back to twenty nineteen,
five seasons now, Dak Prescott, we're looking at an over
under passing yards forty fifty point five, four thy fifty
point five and twenty eight point five touchdowns, both on
the low end. Now, as long as he has been
healthy these last five years, he sores pass both those numbers.
(05:36):
The question though, is, of course, you know, three out
of those five seasons he has been fully available. The
other two he hasn't. Can we bank on this man
to stay on the field.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
Yeah, I mean he's really only had one year where
he was heard, and that.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
Was twenty twenty when he had the catastrophic Eco injury
and missed the final eleven games of the season. You know,
one season in twenty two he missed five games with
a broken finger. But he's larkly been healthy and before
twenty twenty he didn't miss a game, you know, from
the start of his rookie season until twenty twenty when
they had that freakd ankle injury. He's going to be
(06:11):
healthy and he's been healthy. He's built like an ox.
You know, certainly was a fluke ankle injury. I don't
think the question about his availability and durability of being
healthy and being ready to go. And if Dak's on
the field, if you look at the way he's trended
last three years, he's only getting better. He had his
best season last year that the NFL and touchdown passes
UH finished second in NFL MVP balancing UH and in
(06:36):
camp he just looked comfortable, you know, in Mike second year,
really Mick McCarty's offense, I think Dak has setting him
has setting himself up certainly for months year in the
record season. Certainly that means if CD is back, because
that's part of their past offense. But again, Dak is
gonna have a good record season. The course was DAKK
McCarty a CD laugh.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
Michael parksons, what are they gonna do in the playoffs?
Speaker 1 (06:58):
Clarence.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
For years, the off offensive line has been a strength
of the Dallas Cowboys. This past offseason, though you lose
two starters off that line, including Tyron Smith the left tackle.
Now it appears that Dallas could be having rookies at
both the left tackle spot and the center position. How
has the line looked in camp and is that still
going to be a strength of this team going forward?
Speaker 3 (07:18):
Yeah, I think a lot of stigma, Misterings, I think
that you know, obviously it's gonna be Tyler Guiden. Will
be hard pressed to duplicate Tiring Smith's career. You know,
he's probably got a certain Pro Bowl Hall of Fame
TA career with eight Pro and the way he played well,
he certainly was not in his prime last year from
(07:39):
it not gonna be in his prime going forward, he wouldn't.
Jet Tyler Smith is Tyler Guiding.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
Has had a strong start of training camp. You know,
he loves good looks, the part look at, you know,
the first to appreciate the games. He's great at the
highest of any of the rookie offensive tackles, and he
was not the highest rated tackle in the draft, but
he's looked good and played well and his great as
the highest any of the office tackles. Many of them
were drafted ahead of him, much bigger names like Joe
Alton and this Tyler Guidon, who's great the highest and
(08:07):
he looked like the Cowboys found another great offensive lineman
in the draft, and they've betty successful of doing that.
The same thing A Cooper of BBA center. He was
a third round pick at Kansas State. Uh was an
All American guard to Kansas State. He moved his center
in the pros that it'll be a better center. He's
the biggest, nastiest center they've had. C Andre Gerard. He
(08:27):
has a chance to upgrade where they were center last
year we had as a good center. He's tied with
the free agency, but he didn't have his big best
season last year. He's certainly he wasn't as strong as
guiding is to hold up and blocks for the run.
I think they have a chance to be better in
the run game with these two young guys on the
(08:47):
offensive line.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
We're talking Cowboys and twenty twenty four expectations with Clarence Hill,
Junior of the Fort Worth Star teleg Telegram. Part and
me will spend just a few more minutes with Clarence
and break down some of these other players that we
haven't gotten into. When we come on back. Just as
the Astros tie up the Red Sox in the bottom
of the eighth. It's a nice reminder that football is coming.
(09:10):
We're gonna get into the Patriots tok top of the
next hour with Mark Daniels from mass Live. Obviously, right
now we're talking Cowboys with Clarence Hill Junior, Fort Worth
Star Telegram, and we spent some time, obviously in the
previous segment Clarence talking about these guys that are seeking
new deals, Dak Prescott and Ceedee Lamb. I wanted just
another moment on Lamb as we look at expectations, at
(09:32):
least in the player prop market for this new season.
Thirteen hundred point five is the low end of his
receiving yard total that people can bet nine and a
half touchdowns as well, which he cleared for the very
first time last year when he got to a dozen.
There is no questioning his career durability. Obviously, hasn't missed
(09:53):
the game in his four seasons. Last year blew away
that number had seventeen hundred plus the year before that,
thirteen fifty or so in twenty twenty two. It's just
we had a conversation similar to this a few weeks
back when we were talking about Tyreek Hill and the
Dolphins at what point is the number, even though it's
attainable and realistic, Just too big is the expectation for
(10:16):
thirteen hundred plus receiving yards out of cd Lamb this year?
Just a little too high and numbered one actually wager
on it.
Speaker 5 (10:24):
No.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
No seven, John, Yes, but thirteen hundred. I think that's
right in his wheelhouse. I mean, he's a big part
of what the Cowboys do. You on offense, looking at
targets that he got last year, and if you pay him,
you're gonna get return on that investment. One reason why
Jerry Jones talking about them Walker River and Mark Cooper
is that he was a highest payer receiverter of team,
making twelve mis a year, but he wasn't getting out
(10:47):
of the target.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
You know, they weren't getting return on their on their investment.
Best believe win.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
And if they pay cd Lamb, they're going to feed
in the ball like they said him last year, And
I think thirty hundred is easy.
Speaker 4 (10:59):
Clarence, looking at the Cowboys depth chart at running back,
it's very interesting because is this team truly going to
go into the season prepared to ride Ezekiel Elliott at
twenty nine years old as the guy the lead horse
in this in this backfield, because looking at looking at
looking at his rushing prop the books have his number
for the season set at just five fifty and a half.
(11:20):
He has cleared this number by nearly one hundred yards
and at least in every single season that we've seen
Zeke in the NFL, and that includes last year here
in New England.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
Let's not disrespect arguably the Patriots best player last year
for sure.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
That's so crazy. I'm bad you say that.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
Y'all need to tell people in Dallas, the people all
over the cut of the Zick was kind of productive
in New New England last year. He wasn't He wasn't shot.
You talk about, you know, leading the team and rushing
lead the team and receiving on.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
That team for a guy was shot.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
Uh, he's he's going to be the starting running back.
I don't know if he's gonna be the lead back.
He's certainly not gonna be the bell cow that he
was in Dallas. It truly will be a running back
by committee in Dallas this year with with with Zekiel
Ellett and Rico Daldell and and Royce Freeman. And don't
be surprised if the Cowboys kick off somebody off.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
The final cut.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
You know, they have a I mean, these guys are solid.
I mean I think that Zeke helps them. And he
had twelve versing touchdowns in twenty twenty two with the
Cowboys and one reason that brought him back up because
they didn't score a lot of Russian touchdown did the
goal out last year. So he has a nose for
the enzoor. They're gonna use him. Their issue is there's
not a lot of dynamic big play afbility between the
(12:32):
twenties and so I think that's something that the Cowboys
may look at on the waiver wire. It's something you know,
they have Deuce Van in the backfield, Kansas State, Mighty
might who Hoighy production in college and certainly has some juice,
But you know, I don't know how many plays and
how you can use the guy who is five six
five seven, and he's not.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
The primary returner as well, he had.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
To do other things and then didn't have a few
carriers and running backs. So the running game that think
it's still a work in. Zeke is a big part
of what they want to do. He's on this team,
you know, but I don't see him having over seven
under yard rushing.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
No clarence between Dak and lamb Zeke to a certain degree.
Brandon Cooks, we really haven't talked about Jake Ferguson. I'm
high on. I mean, the offense is going to be there.
But if this team is going to win the division
again or get to ten to eleven wins make the playoffs,
I think defense is going to have to be a
big part of it. We know, obviously the talent Micah Parsons,
(13:29):
and you know, the expectation is that, you know, he's
at thirteen to quartersacks low end of his his prop bet.
But Dan Quinn, who has now gone head coach in Washington,
helped lead this team to back to back top five
scoring defensive seasons. Now it's Mike Zimmer, who of course
had all that success, at least regular season success leading
(13:50):
the Vikings. Now he is back as DC for the Cowboys,
where he was for six seven years. You know, I
don't know over a decade ago, at this point in time,
what are the expectations, Like you said, largely the same group,
But what is Zimbra's impact going to be?
Speaker 3 (14:06):
Well, the thing about Zimmer's gonna bring he's gonna bring
more discipline, you know, more fundamental, more more no free
land and do your job, you know. And they hope
that his scheming and his discipline and his side no
jumping off side and do different things like that. Uh. Certainly,
Dan Coin is the great game was coordinator. He uh is,
(14:27):
you know, head coach in Washington. Now he deserves another shot.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
Of the head coach.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
He did a good job and light up before he
got fired to him to the bow. There's no discrediting
him as a coach, but he was more of a
player's coach, you know. And and zimber Is is the
whole old school coach is gonna get in their butt
and certainly he's gonna help make Michael Parsons be more disciplined,
which has helped the entire degise. But it's also gonna
(14:52):
help Michael Parson be more productive. And you know, they
know they need to stop throwing. That was the biggest
thing that was a deficiency on that defense last year
and not being able to stop running and zimmer skiing
and how he Funks stopped Runna have real linebackers on defensive.
Last year they were playing with safetyes and linebackers. They're
gonna be bigger, uh and more fundamentally sound. That's the
hope of the defense being better. And once they stopped throwing,
(15:15):
they let back a heat and go get the quarterback.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
But they have to stop run first.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
Remember, they still have guys in the secondary that are
balls inter set the ball, you know, Dad darn Bland
and let the liv interceptions also set us a record
and returns for touchdowns last year. You have uh Tevon
Diggs who let the NFL a couple of years ago.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
He's coming back off with the injury.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
They got guys that can catch the ball back there
if they get the rush and on the quarterback.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
So that's the hope.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
That they can be better with what they have, uh
and the guy that they brought back. It's all about
Zimmer and his skiing has been more fundamentally sound.
Speaker 4 (15:48):
So Clarence, the Cowboys haven't advanced past the divisional round.
And well, if we're going on close to three decades,
I think twenty nine years exactly going into this year,
twelve and five each of the last three seasons, why
would they Why is this year going to be any different?
Speaker 2 (16:03):
Listen, that's that's the sixty four thousand dollars.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
Of course you're of course then you know they don't
have that game show any more real a certain age,
you know, you know that.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
But uh, that's uh, that's of course Jerry Jones wants
to answered.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
And the one reason why McCarty was in the last
year was contract. The entire coching stafford was on one
year deal. More than thirty players on one year deal.
You know, this is to me a seasonal break with
the Cowboys of of final way to get passed, uh
and and and get something done in the playoffs. They
will be wholeshoal changes next year. Impossibly, you know, they
don't get that done. He may be one of us,
(16:37):
you know, he's in the last year was contract as well.
So uh that's the thing that that that flustered this
team throughout the offseason. They thought they really had a
chance to really get to the Kennessee tom Of game
for the first after the NXT ninnasty last year, the
second seed at home, they were facing the seventh seed
with a rookie quarter that could never try the playoff game,
(16:58):
and they got the doors blown off of the at
home against Green Bay, and they're just you know, you
can say Green Bay was a better team, there weren't
that much of a better team throughout the season, and
they did not show up early in that game. And
that's what flustered and boggles everybody. Matt Troit, but the
former Cowboy INFI analyst delayed his vacation because he thought
(17:19):
the cowb was gonna be in San Francisco for there's
a championship game.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
He would wait to see him take the four to
nins then finally get over at HEMP. And it didn't
happen with the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (17:26):
So you know, that's the question, what's gonna take to
get him over to help That's the thing that everybody
has to answer by McCarthy needs to find a way
to get his players to play the best football in January.
Same thing with Dak Prescott, Michael Parks and the Ceede
Lambs and y'all.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
Play your best football with him. Batt Motion.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
We've only got about a minute left here, Clarence. But
one thing that I just really wanted from this offseason
and obviously didn't happen. You talk about Mike McCarthy. This
is year five. Now, I don't know what it takes
to officially put him on the hot seat. Maybe it's
I mean, obviously a playoffless season, but even maybe a
first round law us uh, you know, leads to a change.
I really wanted Bill Belichick in Dallas, you know, following
(18:05):
in the footsteps of Bill Parcell's going there. I wanted
Belichick there. I wanted him still coaching. Maybe he'll fall
in love with this media thing and decide he doesn't
want to go back. But look, he's a lifer. We
all know it. I I mean, could could that relationship
work two very strong personalities of Jerry and family and
(18:25):
Belichick and and trying to rebuild a program at seventy
some odd years old? Is there any chance or do
I have to let this dream die?
Speaker 2 (18:33):
Well?
Speaker 3 (18:33):
Well, first of all, Mike McCarthy's an hotty. He doesn't
have a contract for next year, and there's no you know,
there's no future beyond this year for my MiGuard, there's
no you know, so he's on the hot seat. You know,
either you get to a certain level or or they
go in a different direction. They don't resign you or
sign you to a new concret. He does not have
a job after this year, So that's that's all. That's
(18:55):
that's enough being said. I mean Jerry Jones purposely did
not give him a contract, EXCIPI you know that sets
at all. And Jerry Jones has openly talked about his
fondness for Bill Belichick and Hobb they're great friends, and
how they could work together and that other stuff. Now,
Jerry go likes pushing the envelope, like people talking about
those type of things.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
He likes Cowboys in the news.
Speaker 3 (19:16):
So Jerry and Bill Belichick of the story that he
would not let die, how realistic is it, seventeen year
old Bill Belichick trying to start things over in Dallas.
We'll see you never say no. He certainly did it
with Bill Parcells and it certainly I guess it's on
the table Bill Belichick. But remember that John's job is
right there for him. Two possibility of the season.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
Clarence Hill Junior again covers the Cowboys has for you know,
more than two decades. At this point, he's with the
Fort Worth Star Telegram. Clarence. We always enjoy having you
on man. We'll do it again.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
Soon, all right, thank you, guys.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
Jared Grant snaps the tie a solo home run as
the Red Sox go up six five top eight. Duran
Monster night so far four for four, three runs scored,
a couple runs driven in of course that long ball.
He's also walked, So what a time to be alive
for the All Stars. He celebrates with his trot around
the bases and flexing and all that stuff in the dugout.
(20:15):
We celebrate the return of football soon enough, certainly, preseason
games are underway, training camps long underway, the regular season
right around the corner, with the first games in the
league set for September fifth, which at this point in
time only a couple weeks away, and of course the
first Sunday is September eighth. Let's talk a little bit
here about a team that many, including me, expect to
(20:37):
bounce back and win the NFC East after falling just
behind the Cowboys last year. That is, of course, the
Philadelphia Eagles. And let's talk about them with someone who
knows this team a whole lot better than us, Brooks.
Kabina covers the team for The Athletic. You can get
him on Twitter at b Kabina, that is kub e
Na Brooks. Welcome to the show.
Speaker 6 (20:59):
Hey, thanks for having.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
Me, absolutely thanks for being here. So this team, this
Eagles team, I do find very interesting for anyone that
doesn't know. Eleven and seven last year including playoffs straight
up for the betters out there seven nine and two
against the spread, trounced by the Buccaneers thirty two to
nine in the wild card round. Now, this is year
four under Nick Sirianni, with a preseason win total of
(21:20):
ten and a half and a coaching staff that, outside
of Sirianni is going to look a little different. Kellen
Moore has been brought in as offensive coordinator to replace
Brian Johnson. Vic Vangio recruited to fix the defense. Before
we get into some individual players and expectations for them,
the changes to the coaching staff, what is that going
to do, do you think to this team on the field.
Speaker 6 (21:42):
Yeah, this is the most important storyline for the season
in my opinion, because in the offseason it's the most
tumultuous at Nick Sirianni's time yet. I mean, he has
been to the playoffs, he's been to a Super Bowl,
but this is the first time that he's take a
significant step back in terms of overseeing the offense. He's
admitted the staleness that was part of the collapse towards
(22:04):
late last season. You know, Brian Johnson got caught in
the middle of it and was fired and by hiring
Tellen Moore, Telling Moore was overseeing more of the offense than,
you know, than usual. And he's Nick Serry and he's
taken over a more of a CEO type role where
he's in various.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Different meeting rooms.
Speaker 6 (22:24):
He's taken an approach that a lot of other coaches
in the NFL so do. He was a lot more
focused on the offense, being in tvings a lot. You know,
spoke to him about how he felt like he was
always trying to fix that and it frees him now
to do other things. So, you know, the the management
of the offense and the defense. Big fanju on the
(22:45):
other end, if you remember in twenty two he served
as a consultant during the playoffs. They wanted to bring
Nick Fangoe a part of that. And you know, there
there's a whenever Johnason Gannon left for the Cardinals, the
whole dynamic there in terms of the timing of the
leaving and how much they knew. And then Tanjo took
(23:06):
a year and the sabbatical went to the Dolphins, and
now after you after having a defense with Shanda Sai,
it's shawna Si disciple of Vicvanjo, same system, same roots,
but they've got the host of it now, the creator
of it now. And you're you're seeing an offense that
has all of its fixtures under main long contracts, Jalen Hurts,
(23:29):
Devonte Smith, A J. Brown, an offensive line that's intact
on the tackles and along the interior, and then signing
Saquon Barkley to the mix. This is this is as
many chess pieces as you want as an offense. And
hiring Kellen Moore who's had success with the Cowboys in
the past, and then the Charges last year with some injuries,
(23:50):
handling some things there, all the things are in place
of this offense to be certainly a top ten, if
not top five offense on the defensive side, lots of
personnel changes. General manager Howie Roseman admitted that one of
the biggest problems last year was they were gave up
the second most passing yards. He didn't address en up
their depth on the secondary. Two draft picks, their first
(24:13):
and second round pick. Those are the things that are
influencing a system under Vic Fangio that is very keen
on the secondary. We've seen that throughout training camp. You know,
there's a lot of young guys getting some time there.
So the pieces are there more offensively than there are defensively.
But it's definitely an interesting thing. And you know, both
(24:35):
of those coaches have been entrusted by a coach has
taken more of a CEO type role, and there's got
to be confidence from all the players and the ownership
that this this team's moving forward under the structure that
Sirianni is putting in place.
Speaker 4 (24:50):
Brooks, what should we expect from Jalen Hurts this year?
With Kellen Moore now running this offense? Historically More has
never had an offense finished lower than fourteenth when it
comes to passing yardage? Does that mean we should expect
Jalen Hurts to keep taking steps forward as a passer
when you look at how Vegas sets up this year
for him, three and twenty five and a half passing
(25:12):
yards is his total for this season. He's been over
that in each of the past two years. Now we
get a guy who you know is calling the shots
that likes to throw the ball more. Should we just
automatically assume that Hurts is going to take that next
step passing wise.
Speaker 6 (25:27):
I don't want to overstate it, but I don't want
to understate it either. Watching him in every training camp
practice we've seen fourteen now obviously came up for the
joint practice against the Patriots up there in Foxborough. He
hasn't yet thrown an interception, and that is highlighting one
of the things for him in terms of ball placement,
in terms of decision making, in terms of how he's
(25:50):
connecting with two of the best receivers in the NFL,
aj Brown and Devontae Smith for long touch jumps and practice.
Saw one again today, saw that happen in joint practice
against the Patriots. He's more refined. He's his ball placements. There,
his accuracy, there's decision makings all there. I'm not trying
(26:10):
to hyperabolize that. You know, he hasn't thrown an interception yet,
but all of those things hit on what Kellen Moore
first said when he first got here, when I asked
him about what he wanted foremost in his offense, which
is a clean operation. If you look back on what
the Eagles struggled with on the back end, of their
collapse last season. It was not only redundancy in scheme,
(26:33):
but it was it was discombobulated. They were not putting
together a clean operation. Whenever the checks were being made,
they weren't being perceived. The wide receivers were running routes
on their own. Things were breaking down, you know, the
ball placement wasn't there. All of those things contributed to
(26:56):
an offense that rightfully petered out in the playoffs. And
those things are haven't yet. We haven't seen that in
a preseason game. First team offense hasn't been fielded yet
other than that joint practice, which you know, is something
to keep an eye on whenever they're going to trot
out this new system in Brazil for the first time.
(27:18):
So but what we've seen in practice so far, Yeah,
Jalen Hurts, I think he does take that step forward,
and that's because he has wide receivers, especially Devonte Smith
in camp, who are stepping up as well. So those
things are all there for him to have one of
his best seasons. He hasn't crossed four thousand yards. Sometimes
(27:38):
the statistics to me don't really matter. The big things
to me, or he had fifteen interceptions the most of
his career. Last year, by far, the only two other
quarterbacks had more than that. I don't foresee that being
the same this year. And whenever you have the weapons
that he has on offense, it shouldn't be And one
(27:59):
of those things that I think plays into sequa into
Jalen Hurts's past game of Saquon Barkley struggled against the
blitz a lot last year. Now they have a running
back who not only can be a hot route, but
open up things downfield and draw attention from the defense.
So those things they've equipped him. They brought in a
new offensive coach who has been able to historically handle
(28:21):
those things, and so far in practice, Yes, I think
Jalen Hurts take a significant step forward in twenty twenty four.
Speaker 1 (28:28):
Well, you brought up Saquon Barkley, let's go there. Obviously
a huge storyline that he gets signed away from the
rival Giants, and I do think it's notable that he
replaces a very productive at least last year, DeAndre Swift.
You know, he rushed for over a thousand yards, he
had six total touchdowns. Barkley honestly kind of coming off
a down year, but you could make an excuse and
say that he was playing for an anemic offense that
(28:51):
you know, defenses were able to focus on him because
he was the only real talent that that Giants team has.
So that being said, with so much talent in this
offense between Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, DeVante Smith, Dallas Goddard,
is Barkley going to have more room to operate to
where we should expect him to bounce back with another
thousand yard season, which if he hadn't missed time. By
(29:13):
the way last year he missed three games, he still
almost got to one thousand yards, so he certainly would
have cleared that with these Should this be sort of
a resurgence season for Saquon.
Speaker 6 (29:23):
Yes, it should be because this is the best offensive
unit he's been a part of, and a lot of
that There's a small storyline going on right now that
draws some concern. When Jason Kelsey retired, Cam Jurgens, who
had played right guard, moved over to center, and there's
been two players that have been trying to solidify that
(29:43):
position that have suffered injury minor ones throughout training camp.
But the rest that offensive line, you've got Lane Johnson,
two time All Pro on the right side, Jordan Mylotta,
who is one of the highest paid left tackles in
the league. Landon Dickerson, who could argue beleave he said,
be the best left card in the NFL. Those things
are going to give. What I think is the main
(30:06):
factor with Saquon Barkley is that he already offers you
yards after contact. Watching that with the Giants, yards after
contact generally meant right at the line of scrimmage. What's
he going to do now that he's going to have
some space going into the second level of the defense.
We've started to see some of that in practice. He
still has all of the stop start quickness that he's
(30:27):
had before. Just seeing that play out. Yes, DeAndre Swift
was a very productive running back, but Saquon Barkley is
a is a generational running back and still has a
lot left in the tank. From what I've seen so
behind this offensive line, in this offense, Saquon Barkley should
should have one of the best seasons of his career.
I think this is a prime situation for him. It's
(30:49):
why he wanted to come and I know there was
a lot of conversation about the the Hard Knocks episode
where they went into the Giants, and whether the Giants
were going to match where the SAQ one. We'd be interested.
He's addressed those things publicaly, and we asked about it there.
My point from that is that there's going to be
an equal, all things being equal, conversation to pit between
(31:09):
the Giants and the Eagles. He's going to choose the Eagles.
He mentioned that in an interview. He said, this is
why the offensive line you mentioned. The offensive line is
why he wanted to come to the situation. He's a
guy who loves NFL history. He can recite all the greats,
their statistics, all that stuff. He wants to be in that,
and now he's in a situation where he can not
only add to that statistically, but get to an echelon
(31:31):
on the playoff level that he hadn't had before.
Speaker 1 (31:35):
We have Brooks Kabina here with us covers the Eagles
for the Athletic. We'll get to some of these other
skilled players, AJ Brown, Dallas Goddard, obviously noted Celtics fan
Devonte Smith, all of that when we come back. Brooks
Kabina is here from the Athletic covers the Philadelphia Eagles,
we are previewing Philly season here in twenty twenty four,
(31:56):
talked a lot about Jalen Herd, Saquon Barkley, the new
coaching STAF. We've got about five more minutes, Brooks want
to mix in, obviously some thoughts on what this team
ceiling is and expectations within the division and beyond. But
before we get there, let's talk about a couple more
of the players here on the skill position variety, and
aj Brown clearly top of the list. I mean, this
(32:17):
guy's coming off of effectively back to back fifteen hundred
yard seasons in his only two seasons in Philadelphia since
coming over from Tennessee. And like you said, Dan, yeah,
I mean, dude's been an animal. He's durable, he's on
the field. It's getting targeted roughly one hundred and fifty
times a year. But what does this balance look like?
Should we expect that Brown, who was prought by the
(32:37):
way for people wondering, is on the low end twelve
hundred and twenty five and a half yards. Should we
expect the workload and sort of the safety blanket of
it all to be just as consistent with Smith still
emerging and Goddard a focal piece of this offense when
he's actually able to stay on the field. We still
(33:02):
at Brooks.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
Yes, Brooks, there we go.
Speaker 1 (33:07):
We got you. Sorry about that, and I think it
was on our end, But assuming you heard my question,
go on with your answer.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (33:13):
Well, you know, in this situation with AJ Brown, you
know it's it's you got the last two years both
him and Davonte Smith on the field have both had
thousand yard seasons back to back years. There's no right
now they're trying to identify the third best wide receiver
on the team, and it's possible that that's actually rookie
(33:34):
Johnny Wilson. I bring that up to say that the
distribution of passes and targets, the share I don't think
will be all that much different this year. Whenever you've
got to two players who who are arguably, you know,
one of the best duos in the NFL. So I
think what we've seen in training camp so far, you
know Devonte Smith, and talking to A. J. Brown, he said,
(33:57):
nobody's been able to cover Devonte Smith all mup. There
have been contests between you and him and rookie Quinnon Mitchell,
who's who's who steps up and at times as the
first round. But yes, he's had a very good camp. Uh,
A lot of his receptions have been deep. He's stepped
up in a lot of ways in training camp. These
are two explosive receivers that they're going to try and
(34:20):
target the heck out of. And I don't think that
you know that share or that demand or whatever to
diminishes one or the other. They bounced that pretty clearly.
And Nick Sirianni, who overceives the all you know, the
team and has the influence on the offense still, I mean,
he's he's talked about in the off season how and
and has repeated this is how A. J. Brown is
(34:42):
the best wide receiver Philadelphia's ever had. And that's not
when you start saying things like that. That's not somebody
that you're going to try and diminish target shairs too. Obviously,
it's dependent upon what it opens up in the defensive side.
They play off each other, well, we've seen that in
the past couple of years. Uh, last year, especially at
the start of the year. How both of them are
(35:03):
serving a couple of games.
Speaker 2 (35:05):
You know A J.
Speaker 6 (35:06):
Brown would go off and then it would be Davonte Smith.
That's a that's a system where you've got two guys
and why they put them under contract, why they've signed
them to extensions this year.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
A J.
Speaker 6 (35:18):
Brown will be under contract through twenty twenty nine, DeVante
Smith through twenty twenty eight. They want that pair together
and that's going to fuel their passing game. So you
know they expect that from both of them. I don't
expect that to diminish just because DeVante Smith is stepping up.
I think I think those those two guys are going
to get invariably. You know, they're going to be one
(35:39):
thousand air receivers again, both of them.
Speaker 4 (35:41):
So for those out out there that are wondering, DeVante
Smith's receiving yardage prop is nine and seventy five and
a half on the low end, you can find that
at FanDuel. It's all that we up to ten fifty
on some other sites. But Brooks looking you know at
the team as a whole, here, did they do enough
in the offseason to address this defense which gave up
the second most yards in football through the air last year,
(36:04):
to really improve on this team? And ten and a
half's their win total. They're the favorite to win the
division What is the realistic expectation for the Eagles?
Speaker 1 (36:12):
How does this season end?
Speaker 6 (36:15):
This is the biggest question on the on the team
right now. This was a porous past secondary last year.
Gave up the second most yards. They tried everything they could,
They demoted Shone to sign midseason, brought in Matt patrition.
It was still bad and there were injuries, yes, but
there wasn't much depth either and in the offseason that's
(36:35):
why you've seen that's where most of the investment has
gone from. The Eagles draft and Quinnon Mitchell the first cornerback,
taking at number twenty two overall, and then traded up
to get Cooper Dejean in the second round, another cornerback
who has been playing nick well as well. So they
you know, Darius Slay is going to be on one
side of the field. There's been a position battle on
(36:56):
the other side of the field. They also signed you
know CJ. Gardner Johnson to come back to the Eagles,
who was part of the twenty twenty two team. So
you've solidified a bit of the back end on the
safeties with Reed Blakenship, who has played well in spots
over the past year. So really the big question is
who fills in that other cornerback spot if Cooper dejen
(37:18):
He went back to Iowa earlier in the summer and
while he was training there, injured his hamstring that kept
him out for the first three weeks of training camp.
He's only just now starting to ramp up on the
field today. He only had fourteen sixteen plays in team drills.
That's the most so far he had. I bring that
up because right now, the VIC fan just trying to
(37:40):
find his best combination in the secondary, and if all
things were fine, I think that would be Quinnion Menchell
right now. But they don't have an identified nickel, and
Nichol is going to play seventy five to eighty percent
of the snaps. It's an important position. There's going you know,
a lot of teams are putting guys inside. Ceedee Lamb
(38:01):
with the Dallas Cowboys last year exploded the Eagles a
lot from the slot. So it's an important position. So
it's interesting that Quinnon Mitchell is the one that's been
getting most of the looks with the first team nickel
throughout training camp and not some of the others that
are on the outside right now, Isaiah Rodgers. They signed
him last year, even though he was under a one
year suspension for gambling. He's since returned. He's mostly been
(38:24):
on the outside. Last year, they drafted a fourth round
pick and Keeley Ringo, who was playing well towards the
end of last year. Those two are kind of jockeying
for who'd be the corner of Quinnon Mitchell is playing
inside Quinnon Mitchell, he deserves to be on the field
at all times. I talked to VIC Fanjoe about this
a couple of times in the past couple of weeks.
(38:47):
He throws a lot at his players, and he stressed
that cornerback and nickel are two drastically different positions, and
they're concerned and not trying to overload a rookie to
try and play one position and then the very next
place switched to nickel. There are various different reasons why
that's a lot for a rookie to handle, but so
far he's proven that he can. Is that a long
(39:09):
term solution? No? Is it going to you know, is
there going to be a rookie mistake in the middle
of it towards the beginning of the year. That's the question.
Is he is he going to be able to have
a home position where he can stay on the outside
and help shut down people on that end with a
dedicated spot. And once he does, who is it that
replaces him there? At Nickel used to be a Vonte Maddox.
(39:30):
He's been in that role the last couple of years.
Last year he was on close to a seven million
dollar contract and he had a pectal injury that forced
him out for most of the year. They cut him
in the offseason and then signed him on a team
friendly deal. He's mostly been playing safety right now, so
that Queen and Mitchell is playing both positions also underlines
(39:51):
there isn't really anyone else that they trust in that
position right now, so that's not good news. And right now.
Seeing Cooper Dejean play most at the slot right now
today was the first time he really had one versus one.
There's a slot receiver, good punt returner, you know with
with the team and you know, just not able to
(40:12):
keep up in one v one today. I mean that's
the first time he's really testing out his hamstring physically.
I talked to the passing game coordinator, Christian Parker specifically
about the genius says all the things are there mentally
from him now he's asking graduate level questions and team meetings.
They just need to see him prove it on the
field physically. Is there enough time between now in Brazil
(40:33):
for him to be the team's reliable Nickel? I think
that's less likely than actually likely at this time. So
that means at least for the first part of the season,
you've got kind of a tricky combo that is not
long term and you're gonna have to adapt that later
on in the season. So there's a potential hole there.
But they've got the players in place, it's just how
(40:55):
long does it take to develop them and also have
them in place where you want them long term.
Speaker 1 (41:00):
Brooks Kabina does a great job, as you can tell
covering the Eagles for the Athletic. Get him on Twitter
at b Kabina That is k U B E n A.
Brooks really enjoyed it man, look forward to chatting again.
Speaker 6 (41:10):
During the year absolutely anytime.
Speaker 1 (41:15):
We are back the Gambler with Adam Kamffan here on WRKO.
We are taking our tour of the NFC East again,
Eagles Cowboys down tonight. The focus is on the Giants
and the Commanders right now, let us head to New
York or really New Jersey. We all know how that works.
Daryl Slater joins us from NJ Advanced Media. Covers the
(41:37):
team for The Star Ledger and NJ dot Com. Get
him on Twitter at Darryl Slater Slate. How are you, Bud.
Speaker 6 (41:45):
Doing?
Speaker 7 (41:45):
Great man, Good to talk to you.
Speaker 1 (41:47):
Good to talk to you. You know, I was looking back.
You were last on the show about this time last year,
previewing last season for the Giants, And one of the
things that we wrote in the sort of you know, headlin,
come listen to the interview was can the Giants get
another leap from Daniel Jones coming off of that career
year new contract, a great twenty twenty three. I think
(42:10):
we know the answer, and that was a resounding nope.
Played very poorly in his half dozen games, didn't even
reach a thousand passing yards, two touchdowns, six interceptions, and
then of course tore his ACL. It was a big
step backward. Drew Locke is there now as a backup
quarterback replacing Tyrod Taylor, but expectations for this team going
(42:31):
in preseason win total is six and a half under
Brian dave Ball third year for him ten to one
HDDs for the fewest wins in the NFL, which we
were talking about before as well. So after this six
and eleven season, Slate one, is Jones healthy? Will he
be out there Week one? And what are the expectations locally?
Speaker 5 (42:50):
Yeah, he is healthy.
Speaker 7 (42:51):
He's been full practicing since the start of training camp,
and the expectations among any reasonable person who follows his
teams locally are very modest. The best I would say,
there's Moleague neighbors, but that's about it. You know, they're
going to be asking this kid to really carry their offense.
Is he ready to do that? He's a prodigious talent,
He's really good. I don't know if he's going to
(43:13):
be ready to do that, you know, come you know, September,
even October. Considering the coverage, attention that's going to be
thrown at him, and the fact that they don't really
have any other feared weapons. Everyone knows Daniel Jones's shortcomings.
The protection has been a major issue for him and
for this team for years. They overhauled their offensive line.
Will that make a difference. I think it can't get
(43:35):
much worse. They really can't. So you know, a big
part of the reason why last season was such a
disaster form was the ACL but also, like you said,
he didn't play well, he didn't get protection. Everything that
did go wrong could have gone wrong. It was an
absolute miracle. They went six and eleven, and quite frankly,
they ruined their chances of kidting Drake May by not
(43:55):
continuing to lose. They they were better without him. I
mean they were two and eight at one point and
they close four and three, and they ruined their chances
to get Drake Bay who they wanted. So yeah, that
they're stuck with Daniel Jones for one more year because
of the nature of his contract, and I would be
very surprised if he's their quarterback next year.
Speaker 1 (44:16):
So that's on me, Dan Daniel Jones getting back on
the field.
Speaker 4 (44:19):
Should betters and fantasy players and fans expect the same
Daniel Jones that we saw pre injury. And by that,
I mean do we expect him to run as much?
Or is Brian Dable on this offensive staff going to
try to turn him into more of a pocket passer.
Speaker 7 (44:32):
Here he has to I mean, he has to run.
I mean, I mean that's part of what makes him good.
He's at an athletic quarterback and they don't have a
lot of weapons. I mean, Darren Waller was supposed to
be the number one target last year. That trade was
a disaster. Saquon Barkley, for all of his laws and
he does have flaws, was a huge part of their
(44:54):
offense and they did not really replace it in any
meaningful way in terms of adding approve been playmaker and
so yeah, Jones's legs are going to have to be
a part of this of this offense for sure.
Speaker 1 (45:08):
So you mentioned it. No, Saquan, it's a big deal.
Obviously he goes to the rival Eagles, but more so
he's replaced by Devin Singletary, who is you know, not
in terms of name anyone that's ever going to get
you excited. I mean, he was reasonably productive, I suppose
last year. But you know, you look at Saqua and
you think a thousand yard guy. You look at Singletary
and the props are appropriately sitting right around seven hundred
(45:30):
to seven hundred and fifty yards three and a half,
four and a half touchdowns depending on where you look.
What should we expect from him? I mean, how much
of a run emphasis outside of obviously Jones is they're
going to be with New York.
Speaker 7 (45:42):
They're going to be more of a bi coommittee approach,
and so I think you look at what they did
last year in the draft. They picked the kidnam Eric Ray,
who really was not involved at all offensively as a
rookie because they had Matt Brita behind Saquon Barkley. But
again it was it was Saquon Barkley. But you know
a lot of teams do this where it's a committee approach,
and the Giants are going to go that route surely,
(46:03):
I think more so than Eric Ray. A guy to
watch for people who are looking who are looking for,
you know, just total yardage production, rushing and receiving. As
Tyrone Tracy, fifth round kid they drafted this year, he
played in college at both Iowa and Purdue, and he
was he was a receiver until his last year or
so in college. And so he's a tall, rangy dude
(46:23):
who can be a factor and third down and I
think that's one of this spots where they might use
him in terms of their committee approach, especially because Singletary
and you know this obviously doesn't show up in stats,
but he's not a very good pass blocker, So that's
going to limit his sort of every down usage, I think.
So that's where that could come into play. Yeah, they're
(46:44):
gonna have to replace Barkley back committee. I mean then, no,
there was no world in which once they led Barkley
walk and decided they weren't going to pay a running
back that much money, then they were getting into the
Devin Singletary territory. And so they decided they wanted to
that they wanted to invest on the offensive line. This
row has a ton of holes, many of Joe Shane's making,
quite frankly, and so they're in a position where they're
(47:07):
trying to trying to paper over their own mistakes at
this point in year three of the Joe Shane Brian
Dable era. I do think Dabble's a good coach, but
you know, look, I mean, the personnel is not is
not great, and so sometimes the coach pays for that
was his job.
Speaker 4 (47:22):
So you mentioned Thelik Neighbors earlier, Darryl, and this guy
was one of the most exciting players in college football
last year over fifteen hundred yards and thirteen games. Steps
right in as the number one target for Daniel Jones
in this offense. The books have his numbers set at
eight hundred and fifty and a half. I mean, the
talent is there for him to get there, but I
(47:42):
just feel like opposing defenses are going to be it's
literally just take this guy.
Speaker 1 (47:45):
Out of the game and you can shut down the.
Speaker 7 (47:47):
Giants one hundred percent. Yes, and they're going to throw
to him a ton. So that's where it could come into.
Maybe he is so much heading shoulders above the other
guys in the team in terms of the yard. It's
just because they're to Ringham a ton. They're going to
do everything they can to get him the ball just
because look, I mean the other receivers they have are
Wandale Robinson in the slot, who's a possession receiver, Darius
(48:11):
Layton or Jalen Hyatt on the outside, and Slayton, you
know what he is at this pointing to solid but
not spectacular receiver. Hyatt is kind of a one dimensional
deep threat, and so they draft of five tool guy
as they put it, and neighbors a guy who can
do everything. But again, you don't really have anyone else
on this offense who strikes fear in an opposing defense
(48:33):
in terms of the backfield especially, they're not tight ends.
I mean they're tight ended. I bet you you know,
ninety nine percent of people and you know, ninety five
percent of football fans couldn't name the Giants' main two
tight ends right now.
Speaker 2 (48:45):
C O.
Speaker 7 (48:45):
Johnson and Daniel Bellinger. I mean, so these are not
they don't have proven weapons.
Speaker 6 (48:51):
They just don't.
Speaker 7 (48:51):
And and so Neighbors, he's not a proven weapon. Yet
He's looked great this summer for what it's worth, and
what else can he do except look great to something?
You know, that's the bit mostly can due to this point,
and so I think they have to be encouraged. And
I think they are encouraged. And that's the one thing
Giants fans are cleaning to right now. And there are
some pieces obviously on defense that they can kind of
(49:13):
hang their hat on. But yeah, they're gonna last a
ton of Molak Neighbors a ton. I just think the
coverage attention from grown men cornerbacks is going to be
a lot for him at times. And that's okay. It
doesn't mean he's gonna be bad. It also just doesn't
mean he's going to be an eleven hundred yard receivers
a rookie.
Speaker 1 (49:29):
No, and to that point, you know you you outlined
it well and you mentioned some of these. It's really
it's it's like a who's who of who you know, Robinson, Hyatt, Hodgens, Boykin, McKenzie, Slayton, Robinson,
like none of these guys. Don't forget Gunner Olszewski. I
how could I? How could I forget our old pal
(49:50):
Gunner and obviously Bellinger and THEO Johnson. I mean, if
if if we see neighbors, you know, getting the like
commanding double coverage, because he's the only explosive, truly explosive
guy in this offense. And it's not even like you
have the Saquon factor anymore. It's Singletary, who's not much
of a pass catcher either. I mean, this is, I guess,
(50:11):
sort of dubtails more into like fantasy, be it daily
fantasy or season long fantasy. But like, who's the guy?
Is it just Daniel Jones thrown to the open receiver
or is there a clear number two?
Speaker 6 (50:26):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (50:26):
Who is the number two target for them in terms
of their weapon? In terms of their number two weapon,
I don't even know who that would even be right now,
But in terms of the passing game, probably just because
of track records late. In terms of catches, clearly won
Dale Robinson. He'll be a big time checkdown option and
they're probably gonna have to check down a lot. But
Slayton is a guy who just hasn't gone away, you know,
(50:49):
like he's performed well enough to just keep sticking around.
And but yeah, I think in terms of if you're
looking for a guy who could be a volume catcher,
that's one Dale Robinson. You saw well we saw today
in the joint practice with the Giants. They check down
to him a ton. And the issue with this offensive
line now, it's not so much that the players are
(51:10):
proven to be bad. You know, they could be pretty
good if they got everyone together. The problem is they
have not had one single snap in training camp or
a preseason game, or even, like I said, even a
training camp practice with the five starters that they want
to have out there, because they've had injuries at various times.
And now it's John Runyon Junior who is dealing with
a shoulder injury. And once they get him back, presuming
(51:30):
they have no other injuries, then they'd finally be able
to get some snaps together where they're starting line. But
the lack of conninuity on the line has got to
be really troubling for them. And all that leads into
what I was, you know, saying about why Robinson could
be It doesn't take rocket signs to figure it out.
You know, a lot of pressure on the quarterback can
be checking the ball down a lot. I think Jones
could be in that situation quite a bit early on.
Speaker 4 (51:50):
So Vegas has the win total except for the Giants
at six and a half. It's pretty heavily juiced to
the under. You look at their schedule, Darryl, it's the
I believe sixth toughest when it comes to win percentage
from the teams last year. I'm looking at this schedule, man,
and I don't even know when they're going to be favored,
let alone can they Can they get to seven wins?
What's a realistic expectation for Brian Davill and your three.
Speaker 7 (52:13):
I thought in the spring when the schedule came out
that they went six games again. I'd have to go
through it again game by game, but I don't see
them getting past six. I think it's six or fewer.
I still think they could get to six. I mean,
you look at the first two games. Obviously Justin Jefferson
is a monster, but yeah, Sam Darnold is what he is, right,
(52:36):
and so I think that that's a decently winnable home game.
I don't like I said, they perhaps won't be favorite
against the Vikings in Week one, but I don't think
the line will be out of control. And then Washington
and week too they go down and face a rookie quarterback.
So on the road, yeah, but a place where the
Giants have played well and they won there with Tommy
(52:58):
DeVito last year. So uh, beyond that, I had to
go through this whole schedule and look, but there's certainly
some enormous, enormously challenging games. Browns have a great defense
and all the challenges posed by the Eagles and the
Cowboys of course. Yeah, I mean they played at Panthers,
so I think they can win that game. But Munich, right,
(53:18):
I think in Munich, Yeah, I think six is probably
this Or does he.
Speaker 1 (53:22):
Get to come home? Yeah we saw that last year. Yeah,
that was the end of Mac Jones. It was that
that killed Mack Jones. Oh God, Instead they just shipped
into or yeah, I'm shipped into a team that now
resides in London effectively. All right, Daryl Slater does a
great job covering the Giants over there at NJ Advance Media,
that is the Star Ledger at NJ dot com. Get
(53:42):
them on Twitter at Daryl Slater Slate always a pleasure man.
Thank you so much. We'll talk again soon.
Speaker 7 (53:48):
Appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (53:49):
Thanks.
Speaker 1 (53:50):
All right, Well, when we come back, we'll get to
the Commanders. How about that. We're gonna be joined by
Ben Standing from the Athletic. We are back. We have
one team left in the NFC East, and that is
the team that might finish at the bottom of the division.
Although based on that conversation with Daryl Slater about the Giants,
very well nay beat New York. Let's get into the
(54:11):
Washington Commanders with Ben Standick covers the team for the Athletic.
You can get him on Twitter at Ben Standing. Ben.
Welcome to the show.
Speaker 8 (54:20):
Hey, I'm good, I'm great, Thanks for having me on.
Speaker 1 (54:23):
Absolutely thanks for being here. So, you know, obviously a
lot new in Washington, as we know, a team that
hasn't won a playoff game in eighteen years, coming off
a four and thirteen year now out with the old
and you know, literally, I guess in the form of
Ron Rivera. You have Dan Quinn as a first year
head coach at least in Washington, but an experience head
(54:43):
coach and a guy who be at as defensive coordinator
or as the HC has definitely helped to turn around
teams in a rather quick fashion at previous stops. You
have a new OC there as well, in former Cardinals
head coach Cliff Kingsbury. But the story for this team
with a preseason and win total of six and a
half is, of course Jaden and Daniels, the rookie taken
(55:06):
very early, just a couple of picks into the draft.
And you know, we were just talking about his favorite target,
Malik Neighbors with the Giants. Now let's get to the
man throwing the ball there for Washington, he doesn't have
a ton to work with, necessarily, probably more than they've
got going on in New York. But what are your
expectations for this team and in particular for Jaden Daniels,
(55:27):
the electric rookie in year one?
Speaker 8 (55:32):
Yeah, well, when it comes to expectations, I'm going to
be one of those people who is not going to
view that in terms of wins and losses, because don't
I think they can be a s to have a
subsetsful season and still finish like under five hundred because
last year was just you know, miserable. They lost their
last eight games. But really they have just been unable
(55:53):
to sustain anything in part because of the you know,
the ownership situation they had and all the decisions that
were made from his owner's box on down. Now that
is removed, there is a there's no more cap on
what this group can do. It's just not going to
happen in year one. I don't think GM Adam Peters
(56:14):
didn't come in here to start spending money like crazy
to try to get this thing, you know, going up.
He made a lot of judicious choices, a lot of
one year contracts, only a really small amount of guys
that they signed a multi year deals. But jayde and
Daniels and a lot of their other rookies and some
other younger players are where the foundation here is. And
I think Jayden Daniels has looked a part in training camp.
(56:39):
He hasn't played a ton in preseason, but even there
he's he hasn't looked intimidated or afraid by the situation,
he's been aggressive. In the first preseason game, on his
first drive, facing his first third down with two very
shaky left tackled in because of injuries and other reasons,
he audible out of a screen pass and threw a
(57:00):
forty two yard.
Speaker 2 (57:01):
Dime to Dianbi Brown.
Speaker 8 (57:03):
Uh and dan Quinn was a little puzzle at first,
and he even later said that he made a top
gun reference to that. It's it's like Jane Daniels asked
to buzz the tower and was told no, you know,
the patterns pulled, But then he went ahead and and
did it. Did it anyway. So my point of saying
(57:24):
that is he's not afraid of the moment. He's got
the arm talent, we know he can run. Sure, there's
gonna be rookie ups and downs as part of it,
but that's why they're I don't think they're building for
immediate success. They're building towards the having a sustained success
going forward.
Speaker 1 (57:38):
And uh, you know that's.
Speaker 8 (57:40):
Why for me, expectations or more about does Jadane Daniels
look the part and are they competitive? If they win games, fine,
if they don't, just make the other team have to
be you know, I actually have to play well to win,
something they have not done in many years.
Speaker 4 (57:54):
Do you expect the coaching staff to like fully unleashed
Daniels right off the get going? By that, I mean,
I mean, is he going to be running around and
just making plays left and right here? Or are they
going to try to rain him in a little bit
and build a foundation with him, you know, kind of
easing him into the NFL. What's your sense with how
they're going to approach the game plans with him?
Speaker 8 (58:15):
Yeah, so you know, Chris Kingsberry has been fairly vanilla
with certain parts of his offense in preseason. By that,
I mean, so what they're doing is they're going very
up tempo, which is what Kingsbury does. They're going rotating two, three,
four receivers that something else Kingsberry does, but they haven't
(58:37):
been Their routes have been very short, so there's a
lot of underneath stuff. He's not showing the route combinations
and therefore probably not even the personnel that he's going.
Speaker 7 (58:46):
To look to use.
Speaker 8 (58:47):
So it's a little hard to say exactly how much
they're going to unleash with Daniels, but the Reid option
is definitely going to be a play and you know,
I you know, I don't know if it's week one,
week two, but I think Daniels is going to be
given a lot of opportunity to make plays. They already
feel pretty comfortable about his decision making. The good thing
(59:08):
is that they do have a pretty potent running back
tandem and Brian Robinson Austin Eckler, so they can lean
on those guys to not have Jayden Daniels up to
throw the ball forty times a game and help control
the clock and things like that. But I do think, again,
I don't know it's week one, but we too, but
sooner than later, I think they're going to give Daniels
(59:30):
the keys and say go ahead, you know you can
do this.
Speaker 1 (59:34):
So daniels props are listed. Depends where you look, obviously,
but on the low end, I think we're looking at
three thousand and twenty five is that right down? Three
twenty five and a half passing yards and the rushing
yards are five twenty five and a half on the
low end as well, if you know, extrapolate that and
(59:54):
average it out over a full season, Ben, we're looking
at roughly one hundred and seventy five passing yards per
game and roughly thirty one or so rushing yards per game.
I mean, are these benchmarks that you expect Jayden Daniels
to hit.
Speaker 2 (01:00:12):
I would think so.
Speaker 8 (01:00:14):
Again, the only question I might have with the passing
yards is just simply how much do they lean on
the run. But even still, look, you know this is
the NFL. I mean, you know, Cook Kingsberry maybe isn't
as you know, wild with his passing context as he
was coming into the NFL with the Cardinals, but you
know they're still gonna throw it. You mentioned earlier, they
(01:00:34):
don't have a ton of weapons. I think that's another
factor here. Other than Terry McLaurin, their wide receiver room
is very unsettled right now. Their best tight end is
zach Ertz, who has missed a ton of games the
last couple of years. Their two tackles on the offensive
line are shaky at best, so they're definitely concerned. Again,
(01:00:55):
might lead them to you know, doing more, you know,
twelve personnel running. But I still think those numbers, like
you said, one hundred and thirty five yards a game,
I think he can get that. I would even say
maybe comfortably. Again, as he plays the full season, which
there's no reason to think he won't barring injury.
Speaker 4 (01:01:12):
Ben, I'm glad you brought up Terry McLaurin there, because
he is someone that I'm very interested in this season.
He has just been an absolute model of consistency throughout
his NFL career so far five years in the league,
well over nine hundred yards in every single season. He's
got four straight one thousand yard seasons. Yet when I
look at what the books are thinking for Terry this
year with the rookie quarterback, eight seventy five and a
(01:01:34):
half is the over under for him. Is Terry going
to take a step back because of the rookie or
should Is it going to be more same old, same
old with him?
Speaker 8 (01:01:43):
I think I would go over there. Now, what a
what a weird career for McClellan. He comes into the
league in twenty nineteen and has had since a different
week one quarterback each year. This Jade Dangels will be
seven in a row. And you know, obviously Jane Daniels
hasn't even played a game yet, but it's pretty it
feels like it's gonna be pretty easy to say he'll
(01:02:05):
be the best quarterback that Terry has and also like
you know, he hit, he's not again, he's not afraid
to throw the ball down the field. Some of his
throws are pretty spectacular just in terms of the accuracy. Sure,
defenses are going to probably double or you'll send more
help to mccorn, but that's not different than what's been
going on for most of his career when he hasn't
had a ton of help at receiver.
Speaker 2 (01:02:26):
You know, they did lose Curtis Samuel this offseason and
Johan Dotson has.
Speaker 8 (01:02:31):
Not has not rebounded from a down year last year
quite yet. So again, maybe they're not gonna have a
ton of options, but there's only so much. You know,
we you know, have the league give. I mean even
guys we know we're going to get the ball all
the time, they still do. So I think Daniels's ability
and willingness to throw the ball deep should give McLaurin
a better chance to make plays down the field. So
(01:02:53):
I would, yeah, I would go over. You know, the
touchdowns have been little disappointing, and I don't know what
to make of that in terms of this here. I
may not think that's a huge number, but the yard
that I would think he goes, there were that eight number, and.
Speaker 1 (01:03:06):
We've only got about thirty seconds here. But I mentioned
before six and a half the preseason win total. This
team won four games last year. Now, of course has
a rookie at quarterback, with the new head coach and
all of that that we already outlined, does this team
get to seven wins?
Speaker 8 (01:03:21):
I've been saying under, but like six, so it's right there.
The hype of game Dale is pretty fun. So somebody said, hey,
I'm going to go over for that. I get it,
but I've been this conservative and under. I just see
too many questions cornerback, offensive line, lack of skill, players,
feel like they're gonna come up short in a bunch
of games. But again I think they're on I believe
(01:03:42):
they're on the upswing, so I won't be stunned to
get the seven.
Speaker 1 (01:03:47):
All right. Once again, Ben Standing does a great job
covering the commanders for the Athletic. Get him on Twitter
at Ben Standig. That is st a n d Ig. Ben.
Thank you so much, Yellow, thanks for having me.
Speaker 8 (01:04:00):
It is our number.
Speaker 1 (01:04:01):
Two of the Gambler with Adam Kaufman here on WRKO,
welcome back. Good to have you here with us. We
appreciate you a lot of football talk in the opening hour,
breaking down the New York Football Giants, the Washington Commanders,
that of course half the NFC East. We had already
talked earlier this week about the Dallas Cowboys and the
(01:04:22):
Philadelphia Eagles. We are going to spend more time on
those squads here coming up in just a little bit.
We're going to be joined by Odd Choppers Aton Schander
and breakdown NFC East futures on the whole. But I
ran out of time to close out the first hour
to give you my bank roll repair. So I'm going
to do that now. And this is look, I hope
(01:04:43):
I'm not just kind of getting myself in trouble again
because again I know I lost tonight. We're having a
terrible show betting night. It was a bad idea for
us to add a second people's parlay, but hopefully, hopefully
we you know, I don't think Asia Wilson's going to
help us out. She's got the fourth quarter to go,
but still needs fourteen points. That's not looking great. We
(01:05:04):
do need two more runs out of the Oakland Athletics,
who are tied at two with the Tampa Bay Rays.
Right now bottom six, So hopefully we'll get those and
that will limit some of the damage. But my bankroll
repair Dan for tomorrow, it is a plus one seventy.
You're doing this again. I know I gotta try one more.
Speaker 4 (01:05:23):
You should go back and look at your record on
BRS and anything over like plus one.
Speaker 1 (01:05:27):
When I really get after it. You're right, I should,
and I will after I give this one out. It's
a plus one seven. Not tonight Tonight New York Yankees
money line and Paul Skeene's day Baby. But I'm not
doing Pittsburgh full game. I'm gonna do first five money line,
so Pirates first five money line against the Reds with
Lidolo I think on the Mound and the Yankees full
(01:05:50):
game money line. Put those together DraftKings plus one seventy.
That is my juiced up bankroll repair that we are
chasing tomorrow. You gave out yours. Everything will be available
to the people on the Action app. But while we
have a little time, let's get into NFC East futures
on the whole with our friend Aton Shander again. Get
him on Twitter. He's got two accounts, Shander Show and
(01:06:10):
the one he really wants you to follow at shander Bets.
He's been out there absolutely crushing it in the odd
Shop or Discord.
Speaker 5 (01:06:17):
How are you, bud, Oh, I'm doing fantastic fellows.
Speaker 2 (01:06:21):
It's always a pleasure.
Speaker 5 (01:06:22):
And hope all as well with you and yours.
Speaker 2 (01:06:24):
Lifefire Boston.
Speaker 1 (01:06:26):
No, it's not older than it is, not cold at
all yet. No, it's it's beautiful.
Speaker 5 (01:06:31):
Still sixty four degrees with a chill.
Speaker 2 (01:06:35):
Here in Philadelphia.
Speaker 1 (01:06:36):
That's disgusting. You should relocate. Best time of years, time year.
Speaker 5 (01:06:41):
Look, I'm happy. I'm happy to my dad. He lives
full time in Florida. He still keeps his house up
there in the Cape. Trust me, you don't have to
convince me to get out of Philadelphia.
Speaker 1 (01:06:50):
Well, next time, next time you're in the Cape area,
you know, come see Dan and I let us know
when you're in the area and we'll meet up.
Speaker 5 (01:06:57):
Can I bring my two kids, because that's usually continue
on where I go.
Speaker 1 (01:07:01):
Sure, I'll bring my three. That'll be a big, big
old play date. I'll bring my dog there.
Speaker 2 (01:07:05):
You go, perfect. Your dog will be the biggest.
Speaker 1 (01:07:08):
Hit usually he is, without a doubt, no question. All right,
So listen, I want your perspective on some futures within
the NFC East. I'm sure there are some that you
already have in pocket or others that you are considering.
But before I do that, you can react to any
of these or none of them. That's up to you.
But I want to tell you the show official ones
that we have bet so far. In this division. We
(01:07:30):
have bet Ezekiel Elliott over five hundred and fifty and
a half rushing yards, Dak Prescott over forty four fifty
point five passing yards, Davante Smith over nine hundred and
seventy five and a half receiving yards, and Jalen Hurts
over thirty five twenty five point five passing yards. We
(01:07:53):
have not officially given out anything on the Giants and
Commanders yet, but we will by the end of the show.
Speaker 5 (01:08:01):
Yeah, I think the Hurts makes the most sense, not
that those other ones don't make any sense because I
like him, but I think the Hurts one makes the
most sense. This offense squad Barkley, I think a lot
of that actually hinges on Saqua because there's this belief
that the Eagles are just gonna run, run, run a lot.
Now with Saquon, he's going to be involved heavily in
(01:08:22):
quick pass. The screen swings, there's gonna be a lot
of effort to get him in the ball from a
pass standpoint, so that's just one more target. Kellen Moore
is really trying to prove that his system and we've
seen this two years ago at least with Spiken here
when this offense was cooking and Nick Sirianni just got
out of the way. That's essentially what's gonna happen this year.
(01:08:45):
I think that's my favorite of them all. I think
Devonte Smith should hit that, especially as I laid out
everything just now. With Kellen Moore that offense and how
much more Jalen Hurts, I think they're going to throw
the football they Here's the thing about Dak Prescott. I
feel like, if you're looking at overs for Dak, you
should definitely try and handcuff that small or sprinkle, of course,
(01:09:08):
but you should definitely try and handcuff that with the MVP.
Speaker 4 (01:09:13):
I don't hate that. That's definitely an interesting way to
look at it. Aton something I've been toying with here,
and since we always talk about odds shopping with you,
I think this is a really good opportunity here I
personally think, and I'm sure a lot of people feel
this way, that both Dallas and Philadelphia make the playoffs
this season. I don't really I'm not really sure which
one's gonna win the division, but you could parlay those
(01:09:35):
two to both make the playoffs at plus one zh
six on DraftKings. Or a different way to look at
this is you place individual one unit bets on each
of them to be a wild card team, and that
payouts much better. So they're each Dallas to be a
wildcard team is plus two to twenty five, Philadelphia to
be a wildcard team plus three hundred. Am I better
(01:09:56):
off doing the individual unit place? Or am I better
off parlaying them both just to make the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (01:10:04):
Well, so look at it that way with the wildcard, Right,
Philadelphia hits the wildcard, Dallas wins the division. You've bet
two units to make three, right, as opposed to if
you would profit one unit if Dallas finished up as
the wild card and Philadelphia won the division. Here's what
(01:10:25):
I would say, Dan, Honestly, I think the math works out,
and I guess you can make the argument that, well, okay,
you might as well just put whatever the correlation is
between those two larger payout bets to win the part
of me to finish in the wild card. But you
mentioned it, how unrealistic is it that these two teams
(01:10:47):
just don't make the playoffs?
Speaker 3 (01:10:48):
Right?
Speaker 5 (01:10:49):
So, even one of these teams catastrophic injuries, and not
just to the quarterback but to multiple people here, both
teams are talented enough to where even I mean, I
guess if Dak Prescott Jalen hurts out for the season,
that's a different conversation, but teams are going to scramble.
But my point being is that there's a ton of
talent on both of these football teams.
Speaker 2 (01:11:11):
I would go.
Speaker 5 (01:11:12):
Heavier on the parlay of those two teams making the
playoffs personally, but I don't hate where you're going with that,
because you're pretty much guaranteed one of those two teams
is going to make a wild card, assuming again that
it's won two So.
Speaker 1 (01:11:27):
We haven't officially played it as a show, but my belief,
and I think Dan shares this, is certainly that the
Eagles are going to win the division between these two teams,
and it is a two team race. Obviously, there's the
whole you know, teams don't repeat in this division and
hasn't you know, having twenty twenty years all of that.
But also I just think the Eagles are a better
(01:11:47):
team at this point than the Cowboys, and so I
would invest there at what is it in the vicinity
of minus one twenty, I mean, it's still I think
that was the best enough line at Philadelphia. Is that,
you know, without any hometown buy is that you're feeling
as well.
Speaker 5 (01:12:02):
Yeah, but here's the thing.
Speaker 2 (01:12:03):
This was at one.
Speaker 5 (01:12:04):
Thirty five and you mentioned the id shop or Discord.
This is months ago. It feels like when this first opened,
this was that plus one thirty Dallas was shorter to
win this division than Philadelphia when this thing first opened,
and we smashed that three and a half on units
on that plus one thirty five. Now, granted it, you've
(01:12:26):
lost a ton of value knowing where it's been to
where it is now at minus one twenty, I think.
Speaker 2 (01:12:32):
It's just corrected.
Speaker 5 (01:12:33):
To be honest with you, I think that's really where
we are right now. So, yeah, you can look at
it in hindsight, but these markets are crazy in the
sense of these futures markets and how they move, especially
in division and ultimately conference. I guess but more so
where we're talking here with a two horse race. Look
at the NFC North right, I think this in this case,
(01:12:54):
I wouldn't say don't take it, but I would just
say no, that you're getting a fair price and there's
probably not much edge at minus one twenty at all.
Speaker 4 (01:13:04):
So we talked about the two good teams in this division.
Let's talk about the crap of this division. I personally
think the Giants are a threat to have the fewest
wins in the NFL A ton. I think the six
and a half.
Speaker 1 (01:13:15):
Threat the right word there.
Speaker 4 (01:13:17):
I mean not sure, I mean possibly, but at ten
to one, I think that's a decent look there for
a future. I think this team is going to be
really bad. Daniel Jones, I have no confidence in whatsoever.
I mean, they want him out the door, They want
a rookie quarterback. They were, you know, so thirsty for
Drake May as you saw in Hard Knocks this spring.
Even the schedule is brutal for them. Under six and
(01:13:39):
a half I think is a good look here. But
that's pretty juicy. Am I better off? Just if I'm
really in on this, just like going to like an
all under and getting like an under five and a
half at nearly plus two hundred.
Speaker 5 (01:13:52):
So I think there are a couple of ways to
play this team, Dan, and where you're going is definitely
the path of least resistance, which is just fade this team.
It's just very difficult for them to win football games.
And if a team sneaks out of the basement, it
sure as that's not going to be the New York Giants.
The Washington Commanders have a far better chance of it,
(01:14:14):
even with a rookie quarterback. So with that aside, I think, yeah,
you could definitely do that. Where I think you can
get a little fun, flash, cute, slash profitable with this
is on the flip side and start looking at these
spreads the first couple of weeks and look at how
wide they are and how many points the Giants are getting,
(01:14:37):
especially on the road, and knowing that if this Giants
team and Daniel Jones specific, reverts back to being just
absolute vomit bag material, then you know, like they were
in the past, they were a cover machine and at
least the first stretch of the season, so I would
be invested. And I don't even think that's the middle,
(01:14:57):
to be honest with you, right, because the Losers loss
is a loss. You're not middling anything. But I think
you could definitely attack their season total and just keep
it as is and then start looking at the other
side of this and attacking them on the spread, especially
knowing or at least until books catch up and they
get a little thinner, even if that's the difference between
(01:15:18):
eight and a half and seven or seven and a
half something like that. But that's where I would look
at it. With this Giants team, they're just dreadful.
Speaker 1 (01:15:26):
I mean, the aton Shander moved to me feels like
a little two leg parlay of just going under on
season win totals for both the Commanders and Giants and
turn that into a plus money opportunity.
Speaker 5 (01:15:39):
I can't, Man, there's something about Washington that I am
not touching this year.
Speaker 1 (01:15:44):
Why quin factor.
Speaker 5 (01:15:46):
Look, there is a stable head coach, there is a
stable organization. For the longest, we've looked at this Washington
team and I faded their head coach instability, and I've
faded the fact that there's just constant chaos with in
this organization. They have the only thing that look they
brought in some talent on offense. They're missing consistent protection
(01:16:09):
and a quarterback who's played in this league. That's what
they're missing. They're not a bad football like they shouldn't
be in the same conversation as the Giants. So if
there is the scenario which Dan's parlay has busted, it's
gonna be Washington creeping in with eight or maybe even
nine wins.
Speaker 2 (01:16:28):
I'm not betting that.
Speaker 5 (01:16:30):
I'm just not touching it.
Speaker 1 (01:16:31):
What are some of your favorite futures for this division?
Speaker 9 (01:16:33):
Aton, So I'm definitely with you on the NFC eat
with the Eagles that I mentioned as far as you
know where I got it specifically, and that's at what
one point thirty five or so.
Speaker 5 (01:16:49):
I think ultimately when I'm looking here, I am going
to take a sprinkle with Dak Prescott at the MVP,
and I think that's so much of it relates to
him going over his numbers. Dallas has a shot to
truly win this division, and I think the payout here
is far more realistic for if Dallas wins the division.
Speaker 1 (01:17:12):
Dallas now all of.
Speaker 5 (01:17:13):
A sudden in the playoff hunts for conference top record
in the conference, and you mentioned it as far as
when we talked about this earlier. I think that's going
to be a power play for me to try to
get in there with Daka and the MVP. I don't
know what the number is now, and I was trying.
I got in on prize Picks because I was doing
a write up for Odd Shopper. But I need to
(01:17:34):
check what the real life number is. But if Malite
neighbors receiving number is anywhere near eight hundred and fifty yards, still,
my goodness, I am going to fade the ever living
you know what out of that number simply because it's
been so difficult. It's just been so hard to play
the receiver position. So Neighbors has to step in and
(01:17:55):
basically be the best wide receiver since Odell Beckham on
that team couple of years ago. I'm not saying he can't,
but you've got Daniel Jones that's kind of pushing against him.
I think my favorite all around is I know you're
not here to talk about this division, but my favorite
all around I just placed it so well giddy about
it is under eight and a half wins for the
(01:18:15):
Chicago Bears.
Speaker 7 (01:18:16):
I don't know what's going on.
Speaker 5 (01:18:17):
I don't know what's happened here, but I just Yeah,
that's my favorite because of all the preseason hype.
Speaker 1 (01:18:24):
I'm fainting that Aton Chander again. Get him on Twitter
at Chander Bets at Chander Show. Check out the brand
new odd Shopper discord with all the personalities that you
knew before and even some others that you may have
been more familiar with on the DFS DFS side, including

(01:18:48):

appearance number twenty one. I know you like to keep track.
We'll have you back on real soon. Look forward to it.
Speaker 5 (01:18:56):

Speaker 2 (01:18:59):
What did you say?
Speaker 1 (01:19:00):
Twenty one twenty one?
Speaker 7 (01:19:00):
Yeah, Rob, page twenty one, bit bumbit.
Speaker 2 (01:19:04):
Hey, guys,
