(00:00):
Welcome into the old show on iHeartRadio, along with the guy who knew the
game would be won by running thefootball and winning the turnover battle and special
teams coach AJ Pratt. My nameis Paul James. Paul James, the
Great Paul James. You give it, you give you all this bs the
stuff that I am. It's true, man, it's true, turnover,

(00:22):
special teams, running the football. You are absolutely right. I could say
that every week and be about righton. No, maybe not against those
teams in the in the Pac twelvethat do a lot of this. Two
thanks, Paul. Two things, never speed on this road out here.
Every week I passed two state patrolones in a matter of a mile and
a half or whatever it is.There's that, And then I just figured

(00:46):
out what I have my pregame ritual, go into the restroom before we start
every week. I've done it forfive years. But I have a habit
that my wife gives me a looklike, are you kidding me? Right
now? My fly has been downfor who knows how long, and I
just figured it out, and mywife's on a bus to a basketball game,
so I didn't get the look.But I'm thinking man, I do.

(01:07):
I have a really bad habit andit's like I just blink out.
But anyway, there's that. Thatwas TMI. But did your Thanksgiving deliver?
Mine? Did? It was fantastic? How about yours? It was?
It was good. I got tosee our family, I got to
see our son. My mother inlaw's food as fantastic as usual, so
that was good. I got anotherquestion for you, was yours? I

(01:29):
mean, I soon to be daughterin law brought a brand new game that
we played. We had a blast. It was fun. That's cool.
Did you eat your turkey? Sandwichhas predicted lots of miracle. I actually
took a picture of it. I'llshow it to you later because I was
going to send it to you,but I got I preoccupied with one of
the games, and I forgot tosend it to you. But I even
took a picture of it with mydrink, and of course the game on

(01:53):
TV at twelve thirty on Friday.Well, I'm jealous because of basketball.
We didn't get there till Thursday midand then we came home Friday midday,
and we didn't bring any turkey backfrom the trip, so I didn't get
a turkey sandwich. You missed that. I didn't need one. Here's my
next question for you. Did RivalryWeek deliver? It? Totally delivered.

(02:15):
So we start Thursday night with theEgg Bowl. Yeah, tremendous Iowa Nebraska.
One of my friends that coaches said, he goes. I hope they
don't institutionalize me. But I lovedwatching that Nebraska Iowa game because it's a
walk back in time, go ahead, go ahead. I'm just gonna say,
you realize that at halftime that gamecould have been over the over and

(02:40):
under at halftime had they scored atouchdown instead of a field goal, and
the end of the game they werestill under. What the heck? I
think it's ten and two this yearon the under. So if we were
bettingmen, we make money. Thenyou got the game, which obviously we'll
get to here in a minute. The Iron Ball, which anytime that game's

(03:01):
played in Jordan, Harry, youkidding me? The Apple Cup with with
some stones making a call. ButI'm gonna talk about that too. F
s U Florida. Uh, theseminals come back to stay. What a
great week, but but something Iwanted to hit real quick. The coaching
carousel no, I'm skipping something thatyou brought up before we went on air,

(03:22):
the transfer transfer portal chaos. It'snot even opened on Monday, chaos,
I know. But it's smart.I mean, just look at the
quarterbacks, kJ Jefferson, I'm gonnamiss them, Grayson McCall, Riley,
Leonard uh oh dj used back intoDante More, five star freshman at UCLA
just announced. But but here's thething, Paul, and the one that

(03:45):
kind of surprised me he got isit's a smart move because you can see
what Nicks has done, what Pennixhas done. I mean, I can
keep going. But if you're maybea late draft pick with this heavy quarterback
class, or a late first rounddraft pick, you can go make what
did Matt Reil say, a oneto one and a half to two million

(04:08):
dollars. I'll go play another yearat college football, I'll improve my draft
possibilities, and I'll go make aMiller two. That's I mean, that's
a smart business move. Why wouldyou not do that? He mentioned some
teams have seven players that are gettingupwards of ten million dollars. Unbelievable.
Seven players that are grabbing close toten million dollars and only on a team,

(04:30):
no cap I know, no guardrail. We're not going down that rabbit
hole. But then we got thecoaching carousel. It's that time of year.
Black Monday comes about two or threestraight weeks in a row. Dane
the most recent, Dana Holgerson's outof Houston. Duke is open because of
a hire. We'll get there,Tom Allen. They named a replacement today
at IU Andy Avalos. That's anwhole nother story. At Boise State.

(04:55):
UH. And then you've got NewMexico Danny Gonzalez. You've got Middle Tennessee
surprising I think it was seventeen seasonsand coached against Rick Stockstell's team at Middle
Tennessee State. Dand Demmel has beenrelieved of duties at UTAP and then Terry
Bowden and I felt bad about that. When it's not about you got to
have money, you are not goingto compete, and the Louisiana mon Road

(05:15):
does not spend money. So that'sa tough one. But then you look
who's filled in hot off the pressas Kurt Signetti was hired today at Indiana,
so JMU is now open. Weknow that Northwestern hired David Brown,
Michigan State hired Oregon States Jonathan Smith. Mississippi State hired Oklahoma's OC Jeff Levy,
which I think was a great hire. A and m hires Mike Elco

(05:36):
after they kind of sort of hiredMark Stoops. What a disaster that is.
That's a bad look because you're lettingalumni dictate on who the coach is.
And look, I'm a big MikeAlco fan. His resume is note
is not better than Mark Stoops. What Mark Stoops has done at UK is
unbelievable. San Diego State, youwant to talk about landing on your feet.

(06:00):
Sean Lewis leaves Kent State terrific, does a terrific job. They're twelve
years I know how hard that jobis. He goes to work for Prime
at Colorado. Everybody loves him. They had that first four game out of
five and then recently demoted. Butthat's okay because now he's the head coach
at San Diego State. Good forSean Lewis, great guy, by the

(06:23):
way, and then you've got FranBrown. I think a smart move.
You hire saving guys, now youhire Kirby guys. So Syracuse has got
friand Brown who is up until here. In the next couple of weeks,
the dB coacher will soon be leavingas the dB coach of the Georgia Bulldogs,
and last but not late, leadsa elevation of DC Trent Bray at

(06:47):
Oregon State as Jonathan Smith's out.Good for him getting a chance as an
assistant, getting promoted. Yeah,so a lot of good stuff going on,
lot of lot of happy families gettingready to move, some that are
moving back home wherever that might beor where they're going to go next.
So it is what it is,but a lot of stuff happening. Coach.
Let's talk a little bit about thegame on Saturday. Of course,

(07:10):
Ohio State lost that game thirty totwenty four. Initially. What are your
thoughts the game? Well, asyou already said and we said last week
twenty two years now, straight, the team that leads the Russian game wins
the game, and they took overthat part of the game in the second
half. The Wolverines did turnovers OSUtwo. Michigan never gives it away,

(07:36):
so they're plus two and turnovers. You stop right there, and I don't
say anything else. You know, the chances are pretty good that Michigan wins
this game. We've talked about itall year, Paul, and you alluded
to it at the beginning special teams. It's beyond a missfield goal. Both
teams punted three times. Michigan isplus forty six yard cards and gaining grass

(08:01):
and hidden yards. That matters, especially when it's two close opponents. Yeah,
and then you obviously the Jaden Fieldingmiss kick before half. People questioned
the clock management heading into that, where Michigan's James Turners two for two,
so there's plus three points in termsof the field goals, you're plus three

(08:22):
points there fourth downs. I wasjust saying, that's the other stat that
got me what three for three andzero for oh, right, extended three
drives. Yeah, and now youcan't have it both ways because I've hammered
all year about the analytics and goingfor it, but sometimes the gut and
the field, the aggressiveness of theplay. You make the decisions because this
is the best and right thing todo that gives our team the best chance

(08:45):
to win. And Michigan was successfullyrunning the ball. They're getting themselves into
fourth and one, fourth and two, and they convert and they get to
keep three more drives that end upall three being scoring drives. If I
remember correct that quarterback play, McCarthyextended a couple of times plays with his
legs, did not turn it over. Com Accord did not and did the

(09:11):
extension of plays that's not part ofhis game, or at least he's not
shown it. And he threw twopicks. Now one was at the end
of the game. He's getting hit, but still it's a turnover. But
my question, Paul, and Iwould like your response to this just honestly,
I test just watching the game, who looked more physical to you?

(09:33):
Who looks more physical? One ofthe things that I sent you messages on
several times during the game is gonnaand you're gonna laugh because you know this
is true Michigan by far. Becauseevery time Blake Korum ran the football,
he fell forward, and not justa half a yard or falling forward.

(09:54):
He was moving forward every single timehe ran the football. He is an
amazing runner. And why would younot go on fourth and one when you
know he's going to get at leasta half yard push in the other team's
defense. No, it's his mothose big uglies up front, I would
assume we're going to be three yearsin rows. The Joe Moore Award.

(10:15):
If people don't know, Joe Mooreis a famous o line coach college football.
Was Coach Holtz's offensive line coach.I believe in his entirety at Notre
Dame, but just the Michigan styletrump Ohia States absolutely style that game.
It's about being physical and running theball. Ohio State's got probably better skill
players, that's great, but it'sthree straight years that run game and physicality

(10:37):
has taken it. And the abilityto win the second half run game was
all the difference in my opinion ofwhy that game ended up the way it
did. And I think guts foryour quarterback. The JJ McCarthy pass to
Wilson, whether you thought it wasan incomplete interception touchdown, whatever your thoughts
were, My Lord, was thatone of the best passes I've seen in

(11:00):
college football this year. He wentbetween two players shoulders, that young man
caught the ball in the end zone. What a gutsy play that was.
And that was on third down.It was a perfect throw against bad technique
on defense. Two of the biggest, maybe two of the biggest plays this
past weekend. The defender turned hisback and did not have because if he

(11:22):
has his eyes on the ball, that's probably a pick, You'll be honest
with him. Absolutely, But itwasn't. It wasn't. So it went
and people have said, you knowafter the game, that should have never
been a touchdown. That was fiftyto fifty. If they would have called
it a fumble, it was astayed a fumble. They called it a
touch It was too close. Itwas too close to tell. JJ McCarthy
played extremely well in that football gamefor two years in a row. He

(11:46):
had to give him a ton ofcredit. That kid is tough and he
comes out and plays football hard everysingle time. I'm a fan of him.
I'm a fan of Blake Korum.I know they have all their other
funny stuff that they like to do, but it's far football players. Those
guys got it, got it done. They came ready to play and they
got the job done. Paul,Is there another quarterback in the last twenty
five years at Michigan that can saythey've won the game twice. I don't

(12:09):
know if there is, I don'tand honestly, I don't think there's a
many O High State quarterbacks that havebeen able to say that they've won a
bunch, They've won a bunch, and we could go back through the last
twenty years. But anyway, anyway, I just my biggest question is,
and I put it on a deal, what in the world did go on
before that the whole Why did weend up kicking Why did we burn all

(12:33):
that time on the clock to kicka fifty two yard field goal and miss
it? I mean, was thatjust a mistake? Was that not having
guts? What in the world wasthat going into the half? I mean
hindsight, but you know, you'rewatching the game real time. And again
we've talked about game management every week, so I'm not going to go down
the road that again today. Butyeah, that that absolutely can be in

(12:54):
question. Yeah, I was notimpressed with that whatsoever. And I guess
Ryan Day's legacy currently is he can'tbeat Michigan. The answer to that right
now is yes. You know, they ask urban Meyer immediately after the game,
is Ryan Day under fire? Andhe said he's not going to get
fired, but yes, absolutely heis under fire. You know, for

(13:18):
both teams. It's kind of unfair, but it's what makes it the game.
Every single goal that you have becomesalmost irrelevant if you lose that game.
And one of those two teams isgoing to lose that game every year.
It's what matters the most. Andright now Ryan Day is one and
three against Michigan and he has lostthree straight and some things to go along

(13:41):
with that quickly. Paul missed hisbiggest opportunity in probably his career to delegitimize
the two last losses because of theKhaki Gates game. He had his chance
to do that and that has tobe gut wrenching to him. And it's
an indictment to go along with whathis playoff record is as well. That's

(14:05):
the Buckeye beef of the fans. He's got the highest winning percentage in the
history of Ohio State football. Butthe game that the games that mean the
most are the game and the playoffs. And it's not good one in three
and one in three, right oryeah, it's it's one and three,
one and three, and Jim Harballwins big. He wins big, and

(14:31):
he's back on the sideline this weekin the Big Ten Championship. And the
other thing that obviously hurts. It'smost important for the head coach to be
there during the week preparing this team. It does matter that he's not on
the sideline. The other pill that'stough to swallow if you're Ryan Day is
the interim coach beat you in thein the third straight game, So that

(14:52):
that that is tough. And i'dlike your thoughts real quick before we move
to the next segment. Well,my thoughts come down to this. I
am disappointed in the fact that Idon't believe Ryan Day truly understands and I
know everybody's been talking about it thisweek. I just don't think he understands
it. You know when you watchthat game, and this is the one

(15:13):
thing that really proves to me thatRyan Day doesn't get it. Coach.
We saw two plays in the gameSaturday that Michigan ran that they practiced every
single day for the last three hundredand sixty five days. Two wrinkles in
the offense. And there may havebeen more, but we know of two
for sure, and both of themproduced first downs, and both of them

(15:37):
were important plays in the game andmight have been the difference in the game.
For him not to realize that oneor two plays will make this game
on an annualized basis and not havethose wrinkle plays. Ready tells me he
doesn't get it, and then hisquarterback shows up in the postgame press conference
and says the words, it's justa football games. That you can't say

(16:00):
that to an Ohio State football fanand expect to be the starting quarterback with
everybody rooting for you. You justcan't. And that's what upsets me is
that I don't think he has histeam prepared to play against Michigan every single
year because I don't think he getsit. He's not from here. So
Paul, this is what I'm goingto say. And we got to get
to the next segment. And Ilove your take. What did Jim Trestle

(16:22):
do in the basketball arena when hegot the job. What's the first thing
he said to the fans first openingvolley? We are going to make you
happy in November, the third week, fourth weekend in November. We are
going to make you happy, iswhat he said. Urban Meyer was seven
and zero. Think coach trest lostone. Yep, lost one. And
here's the thing. That's why I'mnot going to say anything other than I

(16:44):
like your take. This should bea true story because I had multiple people
tell me the same thing that witnessedit. High school football, High High
State, Ohio State's high school footballclinic. Knowles is there, hasn't coached
a game yet at a high state. Supposedly, Irvin Meyer is in the

(17:06):
facility, walks down the hallway infront of high school coaches, never spoke
a word yet to Jim Knowles,And all he did was put his finger
on his chest and said you betterbeat Michigan and walked away. And that
was the mindset and the mentality. And I got to be honest with you,
I don't feel the same. Yeah, yeah, I mean, it
really is that important and and everythingthat that Joshua Perry said this week is

(17:32):
exactly how I feel. And Ifelt it before he said it, and
when he said it, I wentamen, just because that's how I feel.
I mean, when I watched thosetwo plays go successful, that that
that double reverse deal they did andthen and then the one pass, it
was unbelievable that you and they,Yeah, we practiced it every single day.
This was what we were going todo to Ohio. I'm like,

(17:52):
wow, Hey, that's the wayyou're supposed That's what Trestle did every single
day they practiced that. Yeah. And the last point, do you think
Sharon Moore is going to get ahead coaching job? I think he's got
a real good chance, Yeah,to get elevated from the line coach to
the offensive coordinator and go four andoh this season as the head coach at
Michigan. I think he's got areal good chance. He called those plays

(18:14):
at the pitch perfect, Todd, and he deserves a heck of a lot
of credit doing what he did thelast three weeks. Agreed, We're going
to see what happens to him herein the next month. It's going to
be very interesting. Let's talk aboutthe CFP rankings. You've got Georgia,
you Am, You've got Washington,Florida State, then you've got Oregon,
Ohio, State, Texas and Bamacoach. What do you think is going

(18:36):
to happen this weekend or do theyhave it right right now? Well,
here's what I'm going to tell youright now. The committee is puckered up
because I'm going to tell you rightnow, if the Alabama Crimson Tide beat
Georgia, and you think that committeeis gonna call Greg Sank and Nick Saban

(18:59):
and say, Fellas, you're theSEC champ. You're eleven and one.
Your only loss was to Texas inWeek two when you didn't know who you
were yet. You just beat theteam that has won twenty nine straight games,
and you're not in the College FootballPlayoff. I'm gonna tell you right
now, if somebody believes that's gonnahappen, you're smoking dope. Absolutely,
because if Alabama beats Georgia, theyare in the Final four. Buckeye fans

(19:25):
may not like it, period. No, I get it. And George
in the one year I said there'sno way, there is no way you're
gonna have two teams from a conferencein it. If that happens, that's
on the table. Depending on whathappens this week. FSU are they in?
I mean, I don't know,but I'm gonna tell you we'll get
to the games this week. Theycan absolutely get picked off. They're playing

(19:45):
for the backup quarterback, their strengthschedule. We'll see what the company does
that's always playing with their third quarterback. Correct. And then you've got Oregon
beating Washington. It is Washington istheir chance. They could think Oregon and
Washington. I mean, thanks fallTexas wins, you got to say,
Okay, what about FSU, whatabout the Washington Oregon loser? And I

(20:08):
got laughs this week and we'll talkabout the game. If you don't think
Iowa has a chance against Michigan afteryou got a bunch of eighteen to twenty
two year olds, after going throughwhat they're going through and believing where they're
going on, if you think they'regoing to be laser focus, you can't
guarantee that, and Iowa can muckit up. What if Alabama wins,

(20:33):
Texas wins, what are you gonnado? Texas loses? The best for
Paul or who's supposed to be inBut the last thing I'm gonna say,
because it's all going to play outin a beautiful weekend, and the committee
right now is taking pepto because they'reworried, how the hell is this thing
going to break? They're hoping thateverything breaks the way is predicted and they

(20:56):
can just whistle out the final fourand there's note to do. But there's
very few college football weekends that there'snot some chaos, and I'm going to
predict there's going to be one ortwo pieces of chaos this weekend. But
I do not Sorry, Buckeye fans, I do not think it's right.
It happened last year. I don'tthink a team that's sitting watching the championship

(21:17):
game should be able to back inbecause the performance of a team that loses
in a championship game. I don'tthink it's okay. In my opinion,
the Michigan Ohio State game last weekwas a playoff game. That's my belief.
Totally agree with you, one hundredpercent. You and I've talked about
this. The only thing different Isee in here is Ohio State should have
been eight and Texas and Bama shouldhave been up. Well, I agree,

(21:37):
I get Texas in front of Bama. Ohio State should have been eight,
And I know people are like, yeah, but that game was away.
I don't care. If they wantedto set it up for an opportunity
for these teams to know where theyare coming into tomorrow night, they should
have put Ohio State number eight andsaid, look at Ohio State, you're
out unless unless, unless everything goeswrong, you're out. They should have

(22:00):
made that known and made them numbereight, but they didn't. Paul,
I respect you for a lot ofreasons, but you are eight folks.
So you know, Paul James isa die hard from Columbus, Ohio State,
lifelong fan, and for Buckeye fansto hear what you just said and
they keep the rose colored glasses on, there's no doubt in my mind.
Now the committee they may back in, depend on what happens this weekend,

(22:26):
but to say that they deserve tobe in no matter what, no way,
to me, that's quarterfinal. Ilook at it that way, and
that's where it is. So allright, let's roll on. Let's talk
about the key games. On weekthirteen, it was an amazing week of
rivalry football. Georgia thirty one,Georgia Tech twenty three. I don't know
how many people thought that game wasgoing to be within one score. But

(22:48):
the streak continues for the Dogs, man, Yeah, it does, twenty
ninth straight. The biggest surprise tome in this game, Paul, was
Georgia Tech ran for two hundred andfive yards almost five yards of carry.
That surprised me. And you know, we've had a couple of looks this
year Georgia's you know, they've hadsome halves that we haven't seen the last
two years. Because I don't thinkthere's a team without warts. I really

(23:11):
don't uh, But Georgia plays thisgame without Rock Bowers, without Lad mcconkee,
without Raye Ray Thomas. The rightguard Ratledge was out, uh.
But the Georgia running game with KendallMilton took over. He had eighteen carries,
one fifty six almost nine yards ofcarry, two touchdowns. The team
rush for two sixty two almost sevenyards of carry. The Georgia defense held

(23:33):
Georgia Tech to two of eleven onthird down. George The score thirty one
to twenty three is a little miss, a little bit deceiving. It was
thirty one to ten in the fourth, but Georgia Tech didn't quit. Some
late plays, especially by Haines Kingthat made some plays with his legs for
Georgia Tech. But we can justsum it up with this Paul record twenty

(23:53):
nine straight wins. Yeah, andgive Georgia Tech credit. That team was
trash at the beginning of this. They had a heck of a second half
of the season. Give them credit. Washington, Washington State the Apple Cup
once again. Coach it does notdisappoint. A crazy, risky call by
coach Kaitlin Debor pays off in achampionship way. Well, you got a

(24:15):
Washington State team that started hot that'snot both Bowl eligible, which is a
surprise to me. And Washington nowsits there at twelve and zero with the
biggest game they've had in years. On Friday night, it was the cam
Ward Show for Washington State. Bythe way, who's probably, if not
the hottest, one of the hottestplayers to enter the portal. He'll be
a rich young man before he evengoes to the NFL if he has that

(24:37):
chance. He's thirty two of fortyeight three seventeen, three touchdowns but two
critical turnovers Washington. It was alsothe rome of Doonsay Show. Oh yeah,
a Doonsay one rush which was abig one. We'll get to that,
and then the seven catches for oneto twenty and two touchdowns. Washington's
defense holding Washington Washington State offense tosixty four yards rush was probably the biggest

(25:03):
deal to me in the game. They also created negative plays with five sacks
and six tackles for loss, Washingtonwas plus one. When you win a
game late on the last play andyou're plus one and turnovers, it was
probably the difference. But with onefifteen left fourth and three on your own
twenty nine, tied up in staterival twenty one twenty one. We've been

(25:26):
ripping people all year. The reasonI liked the call is it was a
triple option for the one of thebest quarterbacks in the country. He could
hand it off, he could haverun it, but he had three reads.
He got the read he wanted andthat little flip to one of the
best player on the field went twentythree yards. That was a well designed

(25:47):
That call was created for a momentlike that and it was executed. Give
credit to Mike Michael PENNOCKX junior forthat. But maybe the best feel good
thing of the weekend Grady gross yepthe walk on kicker forty two yards to
end the game, to win it, to put Washington at twelve to zero,

(26:07):
and Kaitlin de boor anybody's eyes wouldsweat. He announces after the game
the game winning kick. That walkon kicker was given a scholarship, and
that team went crazy, And that'sone of the coolest moments in college football
locker rooms, no doubt about it. And if they didn't give him a
scholarship to Bord just went ahead andpaid for it. Because he's like,
I gotta keep this skin. Yeah, it's cool. It was cool.
It was very cool. Florida StateFlorida twenty four fifteen. The big quarterback

(26:32):
question at Florida State, but theSeminals did earn their spot in the ACC
title game. They're undefeated two differentworlds in the same state. Paul against
rivals. That's the eighteenth straight winfor coach Norvelle and the Seminoles. It's
the fifth straight loss for Florida. You got Florida State down twelve nothing,
but they outscore Florida twenty four tothree. They don't quit to get the

(26:53):
road win. Two backups at quarterback. FSU's Tate Roddemaker played well enough played
Max Brown, the backup for Florida. Tate Roddemaker was knocked out the game.
He came back to the last coupleplays. FSU dominated the second half,
only allowed forty eight second half yardsand negative fifteen yards in the fourth

(27:15):
quarter. That ain't gonna get itdone. Gators. Jared Verse, who
will be a top first round pick, came to play two and a half
sacks, six team sacks. Theytook over. Running back Trey Benson said,
Hey, let me carry the loadninety five yards, three touchdowns.
That late fourth quarter touchdown to putit away in Florida when you turned the
ball over and you have nine penalties, the chances to win or slim and

(27:37):
none. Keon Coleman wasn't big onoffense, but he was big on special
teams with returns. But Paul,I want to read you something. Go
for it. I saw this todayand I seriously may send coach Napier a
care package. This is what hisprize is for going five and seven this

(27:57):
year. Miami Hurricanes, Samford,Texas A and m Central Florida at Tennessee,
Kentucky LSU at Texas, Georgia atMississippi State, Old Miss at Florida
State. That is the hardest freakingschedule I've ever seen. They will be

(28:18):
lucky to be favored in four ofthose games next year. The way things
have gone, that's tough. Sleddingmight say impossible. I hope the hell
he has a great off season. But I'm going to tell you right now.
Remember at the beginning of the year, there was a team I predicted
that was going to be the biggestturnaround in college football. Do you remember
who that was? Because their schedule, Well you told me you thought Louisville
was going to be sitting there then? Yeah? And who did I tell

(28:41):
you that the SEC had something outfor my man because of their schedule was
so bad, it was so tough. Sam Pittman and are insu and they
both went that way. I canbefore next year's first podcast, I can
say, Billy Napier, your nextyear, Sam Pittman, because that is
actually worse. That's brutal. Thatis brutal, There's no question about it.

(29:02):
But yes, I was going tobring up the Louisville thought here real
soon because now they're talking about Louisvilleand Ahis State playing in a bowl game.
But we'll get there when we getthere. Let's see. Let's move
on. Oregon thirty one, OregonState seven, the Ducks. They're going
to the rematch with a chip ontheir shoulder and a chance to get one
in their minds. Bady, herewe go. You can't be great with
every game on TV. This wasthe one you could turn the channel to

(29:26):
another game and think because this wasall Oregon. Bo Nicks, is that
your Heisman winner? Thirty three toforty two touchdowns, three hundred and sixty
seven pass six for thirty one onthe ground, a touchdown. Wide receivers
Tes Johnson Troy Franklin a big dayeleven one thirty seven to nine catches one
twenty eight for Franklin in a touchdown, and defense, Oregon State is held

(29:49):
to three of eleven on third andonly fifty three rush yards. Oregon also
has it takes the ball away.So I'm interested to see because of all
the noise that Washington's hearing about. But I've said it for weeks. Oregon
runs the ball, stops the run, and have possibly the Heisman Trophy winner
at quarterback. They're gonna be atough out, Paul, They're gonna be

(30:10):
tough out in tomorrow Night's game willbe a delight. Alabama twenty seven Auburn
twenty four of the Iron Bowl onceagain does not disa point. Oh my
gosh, what a miracle. Well, you're sitting there watching the game and
it's fourth and thirty one, andaccording to Rick Neuheisel, he told Zucker
in the studio before the last play, this is what's gonna happen. And

(30:30):
by God, but the whole upuntil that point, I mean, I'm
thinking it's gonna happen again. Yeah, Auburn just got taken to the woodshed
by New Mexico State, got whoopedup front on both sides. What I
said last week was absolutely true.Coach Freeze had to have those guys with
full attention. Hey, we gotembarrassed. Next week, we can make

(30:51):
up for it. And by god, they were one play away from knocking
the tide off again in that stadium. Auburn's offense it was almost single wing.
Great coaching job that gave Alabama's defensefits the entire game until the fourth
quarter, two forty four rush.I would have never ever, I would
have taken the under and bet myhouse I'd be homeless. Yeah, Alabama's

(31:14):
run game again though the O lineuhJason McClellan and Milrow with a one ninety
two. But Alabama's pass advantage Auburnstruggled to throw the ball game the ball
all year. They outpassed Auburn twofifty nine to ninety three. That's one
hundred and sixty six yard difference ina game. That's hard to overcome,
but by god, they almost did. But Jalen Milroe three sixty six total

(31:37):
yards, two touchdowns, another weekwithout turning it over. And then we've
got the two plays the slip muffpunt ball. Game's over. Yeah,
and you're like, what just happened? And then we've got these two plays
that happened that pushed them back tofourth and thirty goal from the thirty one

(32:00):
yard line. Paul, you likedmy joke about Bear Bryant. Tell God
that God asked Bear Bryant, whydid we tell coach Frees to rush too?
And God said, I don't know, Bear, why did we tell
him? Just as grated, Butthat was preparation. They practiced that play

(32:21):
every week. It's called the graveDigger. They rushed too. They double
the inside receivers, all three insidereceivers, two inside receivers. But why
you play man on the outside. And second play of the week, the
defender's back was to the ball.Could never make a play on the ball.
That ball could not have been putanywhere else. And a great play

(32:45):
and that legendary play with Isaiah Bondwinning that game will go down in the
deep lore of the Auburn Alabama andBond Isaiah Bond touchdown. Unbelievable, Oh
lord, it was. Can't makeit up. You can't make it up
ten years to the day, thatten years to the game that they had

(33:07):
the kick six. So amazing stuff. Texas fifty seven, Texas Tech seven.
The Horns are in the Big twelveChampionship with a shot at the CFP.
I mean they're playing really good footballright now. Yeah. Disappointing season
six and six for Texas Tech.Still one of the best wins of the
year at Tuscaloosa, Texas sitting thereeleven to one with just that one hiccup
against their rival and the Red Rivershootout against Oklahoma, but this was all

(33:30):
Horns. Arch Manning with some snapsat the end of the game. Got
to recruit our own players, youknow, all right? Man, Texas
rushed for three hundred and two yardsthree h two and that's what they're starting
running back that's been out the lastfive weeks with an injury. Quin You
were seventeen of twenty six, onehundred and ninety six a touchdown, the
one pick the Texas kickoff returned ninetyfive yards. So they do it in

(33:52):
all three phases by Keellan Robinson.I will say though the kicker, Bert
Auburn for Texas has had an outstandingyear, and that couldn't matter in the
playoff if they make it five forfive field goals a fifty four yard long
six for six Pat so Bert.Auburn scored thirty one points in this game,
but Texas again dominates the line ofscrimmage like they have pretty much every

(34:14):
game this year, and we sangpraises for Baron Morton, who'd helped a
little turnaround in that Texas Tech didn'thappen this week with the three picks that
were killer Ataya. You want totalk about rushing, let's talk about the
Cody Schrader Show. They are headingfor a new year. Six game.
Missouri is so fun to watch.Forty eight to fourteen. They blow Arkansas
out. But Missouri is a legitone of the best teams in the SEC,

(34:37):
said it a last few weeks. The third best team in the SEC,
no doubt. Yeah. It wasa woodshed whipping forty eight to fourteen
on the road at Arkansas. Nota good look. This is all Missouri
forty one to seven, the defense, the special teams, they all make
plays. Sad to see kJ Jeffersonis injured early in that game, and

(34:58):
you knew when it happened. Thatwas he wasn't coming back. But the
Cody Schrader show the first half withone hundred and ninety four yards two seventeen
for the game, I would haveto think he's going to get an invitation
to New York the way, we'llsee. But you have no chance.
You're playing little sisters of the poor. When you hand the ball over five

(35:20):
times like Arkansas does, you haveno chance? Absolutely? How about the
Governor's Cup? Your cat's win itman thirty eight thirty Kentucky beats Louisville.
The only thing here is the peoplein Kentucky. My friends wish they had
a different governor. I'll just leaveit out there. Yeah, a big
win. I told you, youget well quick when you're not feeling good.
When you're Kentucky and you beat Louisville. And Mark Stoops has found another

(35:43):
way to beat Louisville. His recordagainst them has been tremendous, opposite of
what's going on with Ryan Day.At least Kentucky fans say, hey,
he at least has been winning againstLouisville every year. But now Louisville sits
there at ten and two UKs plustwo and turnovers. UK special teams bearing
Brown four kickoff returns for one hundredand sixty five. One of them was
one hundred yard touchdown return Ray Davis, who was bottled up a lot of

(36:06):
that game. Late run game finisheswith a touchdown and UK. A key
to this game was holding Jawar Jordanonly sixty seven yards rushing, So a
big late win for and there wasa play that Devin Leary almost blew it.
I don't know if you saw theplay, but it was a good
win for the Kentucky Wildcats. Bythe way, I'm excited about Kentucky basketball

(36:29):
for the first time in a fewyears. Reed Shepherd can play. Well,
we'll talk about basketball. Are theyare gonna be good? Let's check
our quick hitters highlighting Toledo completes anundefeated max schedule. They get to play
this weekend. Oli Gordon. Ishe the next Barry Sanders? I don't
know. That's our highlights for thequick hitters. What do you got,
coach, Well, I'll tell youhe ain't Barry Sanders. He's really good.

(36:51):
He Barry Sanders. There are veryfew you could ever say this is
Barry Sanders. Good. Yeah,Toledo's now eleven and one. Central Michigan
battles in the first half to KwanFinn's best game, but running back Penny
Boone with a strong second half totalone hundred and eighty six yards, two
touchdowns Toledo defense and doesn't give theball away on the road. Next one,
they battled hard BYU, almost founda way. In fact, they

(37:15):
were up big. Oklahoma State trailedBYU twenty four to six and a half,
but the second half it was defensein Oli Gordon. Oklahoma State finds
a way to be nine to three, and that is the team that's getting
ready to play in a Big twelvechampionship. Two overtime Oli Gordon touchdowns,
didn't get the two pointer, butthen there was that huge strip fumbled by

(37:37):
Oklahoma State defender Trade Rucker to stripthe ball from Isaac Rex to put it
away there in that overtime, butOli Gordon five touchdowns, he does ty
Barry Sanders single game record. Ina decent day for Oli Gordon only one
hundred and sixty six rush. Butthe weekend kicked off Thursday night Paul and
the Egg Bowl. Mississippi State gaveOld Miss at Missississippi State all they wanted,

(38:00):
but this is the second straight EggBowl win for coach Kiffin. The
misrun game in defense was the difference, and then the fourth quarter touchdown was
obviously the one that put it awayquickly. Number seventeen Iowa was at ten
and two. Iowa wins on thelast second field goal to meet Nebraska at
Nebraska thirteen to ten. Unc whostarted hot, finishes eight and four.

(38:23):
They lose to En State rival innC State twenty to thirty nine. This
is five straight wins and six outof seven for nca State that coaching staff.
Coach Dorn has done a great jobwith this team. And by the
way, Kevin Concepts Jon who we'vetalked about before for NC State was their
leading rusher and receiver in the game. Pretty cool. Odric estimate at Notre

(38:45):
Dame had a heck of a day. Pretty sure he now has the touchdown
record and a season for Notre Dametwenty five for two thirty eight, four
touchdowns over Stanford. Liberty is twelveand zero with their win over UTIP JMU
fifty six to fourteen. Over CoastalCarolina Jordan McCleod. If you didn't see
their quarterback at jmu phenomenal days threehundred and twenty four to six touchdowns for

(39:07):
Jordan McLeod. Last, but notleast, I can't go a show without
saying that the last six weeks Arizonafifty nine to twenty three over the sun
Devils of Arizona State. But NoahFafeda, who was a backup, who
has been unbelievable this year. Fivetwenty seven and five touchdowns. That's a

(39:27):
heck of a day. And you'regoing to see them to be in a
Marquee Bowl game. I want tosee Missouri play Arizona, but they're a
little off, so I don't thinkit's gonna happen. But I'd love to
see them play each other in abowl game. That would be just so
much fun. Let's talk about howmuch fun this weekend's gonna be, and
we've got some amazing games they getstarted. I don't know if I have
them in order of appearance this weekend, but it's not that far off.

(39:52):
New Mexico State and Liberty. Thisis a Friday night game, and this
could be a good one with NewMexico State. Some of the things they've
done just in the last couple ofgames and Liberty undefeated. That's going to
kick it off. Jerry Kill's donea hell of a job and a really
hard place to win. I mean, Doug Martin did a good job there.
It's hard to win. But tenand three, they've already played thirteen

(40:14):
games, and I have to saysome of that has to do where all
that has to do with money. But Liberty, I'm going to throw this
in here, Paul are Oh,I just got a nice love you text
for my wife. Number twenty fourLiberty. They're sitting there because if another
game goes a different way, thatmay be your new year six. Yeah.
Team, absolutely, they're sitting thereat twelve and zero. Great job

(40:36):
by Jamie Chadwell. Week two. They've listened. These teams have played Liberty
at home beat New Mexico State thirtythree seventeen. This this team has changed,
but New Mexico Straight State has woneight straight. They defend now allowing
less than twenty points a game.Liberty defense has been tough all year,
only giving up twenty two a game, but they are balanced on offense.

(40:58):
Watch quarterback En Salter and running backWe've listened heard about him all year.
We've watched him Quinton Cooley. Butthis should be a good battle. By
the way, Liberty is a elevenpoint favorite for that Friday night CBS Sports
Network game. There you go.You're gonna be bouncing back and forth to
Oregon and Washington the Pac twelve Championship. This one here is for all the
marbles kids. Yeah, my wifeand I I'm going to talk her into

(41:21):
going to this game because it happensto be in Las Vegas. I don't
care it's on ABC, it's goingto be in Las Vegas. The eleven
and one rematch, the eleven andone Orgon Ducks taking on the number three
undefeated Washington Huskies. It's Nicks,It's Pinnix. This game was thirty six
thirty three at Washington in Week six. The line has now moved from nine

(41:44):
and a half to ten before Icame in here today it says sixty five
and a half spread. You've gotoregon seventh ranked score defense against Washington's eleventh
ranked score offense, but also theOregon Ducks the second scoring offense in college
football. So I don't know aboutthis game because I love I have got

(42:08):
I have people I care about atWashington that are coaches there. I know
they're loving being told they're gonna getbeat by ten. Dan Lanning probably doesn't
want to hear that, but it'sOregon's been playing very very well. Washington's
played better, I think at thebeginning of the year. But do not
bet against the Huskies. No,I would not either. But watch that

(42:28):
game tomorrow and I Texas Oklahoma Statethe Big twelve championship and it won't be
like this anymore after this year, either noon Saturday, ABC and Jerry's House
at AT and T Stadium. Bythe way, I've been there several times.
What a facility, beautiful. Nineto three, Number eighteen Oklahoma State
is a fifteen and a half pointdog to the number seven Texas team that's

(42:51):
eleven and one playing to get intothe College football playoff. Oklahoma State has
won seven of eight. They onlylost that they've had was that monsoon where
they got smoked at UCF. Texasscores thirty five points a game. Youwers
offensive line, interior de line,my opinion, advantage a big time for

(43:15):
Texas. But they're facing the second, the leading not second, the leading
rusher Ali Gordon, the second withalmost sixteen hundred yards My question is Alec
Bowman at quarterback. He's got tentouchdowns, but he turns it over.
He's thrown more picks at eleven thanhe has touchdowns. The defense has to
be better than where they've been forthe year, which is seventy fourth,

(43:36):
and you're kind of who you are. But one last thing, Paul coach
Gundy has a really good record againstTexas, So I am not going to
count out Oklahoma State. I expectTexas to win, but nothing will surprise
me. Nothing will surprise Gandhy's funto watch. He is. He knows
how to coach Boise State UNLV.That's going to be a fun game because

(43:58):
boys doesn't really have a coach. You had. LV wasn't supposed to be
very good at the beginning of theseason. And here they are, three
pm, Fox The Mountain West,Las Vegas. It's it's two for this
weekend again, two shows there inVegas. Paul Boise States seven and five,
six and two into conference. UNLVis sitting there at nine and three,
but six and two in the conference. Boise State two weeks ago was

(44:21):
five and five. Andy Avalos wascalled in and said, you've been relieved
of duties and they're playing for theconference champion as a two and a half
point favorite. As unbelievable to me, Barry Odom. They go nine wins
to ten after a five and sevenin his first year that UNLV was five

(44:42):
and seven. He could get themto a tenth win in this game.
That is incredible. What a greatjob should be. No question of nominee
for Coach of the Year. Asolid defense at UNLV. But if you
haven't watching Jaden may Ava, theirquarterback, is fun to watch. He's
completed two thirds of every pass he'sthrown this year for twenty six hundred yards,
and he's mobile. The SEC titlegame, Georgia versus Alabama. Wow,

(45:09):
Paul, four pm, CBS,the last CBS game of the SCC.
You've got number one Georgia, winnerof twenty nine straights twelve and ohs
facing Saint Saban and the number eighteleven to one Alabama Crimson tide. The

(45:30):
Dogs are five and a half pointfavorites. We're gonna call it at home
because it's in Atlanta. A couplethanks, Paul. You've got two of
the best offenses and defenses in collegefootball. I'd give an edge both ways
to Georgia slightly. This game comesdown to turnovers, win the run battle,

(45:51):
and best play at quarterback. Andwho is the joker in the deck.
There ain't no question it's Jalen Milroe. And as a defensive coach,
you'regas nightmare as a quarterback that canextend plays and make plays with his legs
and wells throwed as well. JalenMonrose mil Roe has been throwing it.
But Kirby Smart has the guys toget him bottled up, right, and

(46:14):
I'm pretty confident they'll have a goodplan to do that. All right.
Another game that could could give usa New Year's Bowl game to watch.
SMU takes on two Lane. Ilike New Orleans two. I've been there
and that's a fun Yeah. Fourpm ABC. We're back and forth between
the SEC and this game. TheSMU team, if you haven't watched,

(46:37):
they're ten and two. They're eightto zero in the league, but they
are taking on who is favored twolane at eleven and one eight oh in
the league. They are three anda half point favorites, being the Green
Wave. A couple of things here. Paul Willie Fritz. His only loss
this season was week two to oleMiss. If they win this game,

(46:57):
Willy Fritz will have won his twentyfourth game in two seasons. That is
unbelievable to me. We know theyhave a quarterback with Michael Pratt, but
another shout out on the other side. Head football coach at SMU ret lash
Lashly last year in year one sevenwins. It's a great start for a
first year head coach. With awin over tu Lane would have eighteen wins

(47:21):
in two years. That's a greatjob coaching quarterback. Preston Stone can sling
it. And this offense for SMUaverage is forty two points a game,
which surprises me a little bit becausetu Lane plays defense. But this over
runner is only forty seven and ahalf. If I'm a betting man,
I think I'm taking the over becauseMichael Pratt and that offense can score two.
I get you. Appy State appLachian State takes on Troy. Yeah,

(47:44):
we'll just leave it this Appy Stateeight and four, four pm ESPN.
This game is at Troy, soit is a home site game for
Troy. Eight and four. AppyState six and two in the league.
Troy is ten and two, sevento one league. This is what you
got You got Apps States offense, which against Troy's Troy's defense. That's the
strength of those two teams. Soyou got good versus good in that Sun

(48:07):
Belt Conference game, Troy's a sixpoint favorite at home fifty two and a
half. It's the over under YEPin Indy. Michigan takes on Iowa.
You firmly believe Iowa has a solidchance to win. That fot didn't say
solid, So you said there's achance, right, that's the kind of
chance. I'm talking about, dumband dumber chance. I'm all right,

(48:29):
Lucas Oil, Indy. We coulddrive over and watch it eight pm.
Fox. The Big Ten Championship twelveand oh number two nine to zero Conference.
The Michigan Wolverines are a twenty oneand a half point favorite against ten
and two seven and two in theleague. Number sixteen Iowa biggest over under
they've played in in months. It'sat thirty five and a half. Even

(48:51):
though Michigan is a twenty one ortwenty two point favorite. Michigan d gives
up ten points a game. Iowagives up twelve points a game. Michigan
scores though their offense thirty eight agame. Io was scores eighteen, So
don't laugh. Don't laugh. You'redealing with eighteen to twenty two year olds.

(49:14):
Iowall can muck it up better thanany team on Planet Earth. Coach
Farance will not screw up with gamemanagement decisions. You make a couple mistakes,
Michigan handing the ball over in yourterritory, they get a cheap score,
they kick a field goal. I'mtelling you, they can put a
noose on you. Phil Parker isone of the best defensive coaches in college

(49:36):
football for at least a decade.I'm just telling you. Now, Michigan
could run them out of the stadium. They could boat race them. That
wouldn't surprise me. But it wouldnot surprise me either. If this game's
closer than people think, well,I'm looking forward to watching it. Florida
State and Louisville the game that alot of people are watching because, well,
Florida State's undefeated, Louisville is not. Louisville has played really good football

(49:59):
this season, but they've also hadsome bad games. Who's gonna Win It?
Eight pm, ABC, Bank ofAmerica Stadium and Charlotte the ACC game.
ACC title is on the line. You got number fourteen Louisville. They've
got this opportunity to be the spoilerand give the committee a break. Florida

(50:21):
State sits there at number four attwelve and zero, one of the best
in college football. If you don'tknow this, Florida State is one of
the best in college football and turnovermargin. But even though FSU is a
two and a half point favorite ina forty seven and a half over undergame,
can Tate rawd Amaker lead this footballteam to the Promised Land with Jordan

(50:46):
Travis out Here's the key for FloridaState. They have to be able to
run the ball to give some reliefto rowd Amaker, no question. The
defense has got to show up likeit has most of the year and definitely
did last week in the second half. Kean Coleman has to make a couple
plays in the game, even ifit's in special teams. Again, I
wouldn't kick it to him. Yeah, but can Plumber take care of the

(51:08):
ball. He has a tendency togive the ball away and that's been really
their biggest problem this year. Butthe Louisville defense, I've praised them all
year. They've only given up twentypoints a game. The key for them
is Jaward Jordan has to run formore than sixty some yards this week like
he did last week for them tohave a chance. And their special teams

(51:28):
have been strong all year. Theywere not last week against Kentucky. They
got to bounce back. If Louisville'sgoing to get Florida State, all right,
we'll see Miami of Ohio and Toledo. I believe this game is in
the afternoon. I think that's onlyone. I screwed up when and we
went through who plays who at whattime during I got girls hoops got moved
up like boys hoops got moved upbecause we live in central Ohio and the

(51:51):
powers that be thought the Ohio Statewas going to be playing its Saturday night.
So I'm not going to get tosee this one live. I'm going
to be at a girls basketball game, happily. But I'll watch the noon
ESPN the MATC game in Detroit. We could get there if we want ten
and two, Miami only seven. There's seven and one in Conference eleven and
one eight to No. Toledo, who's an eight point favorite in what I'm
calling a home game. This gamewas played earlier in the year Miami.

(52:16):
At Miami, Toledo found a wayto win twenty one to seventeen. By
the way, Jason Kandall has donea terrific job at Toledo. They're only
lost this year's to Illinois in Weekone. They got to Kwan Finn,
but they got this other guy namedPenny Boone that's rushed for fourteen hundred yards
the Toledo offense. But I wantto give credit to Chuck Martin to win

(52:37):
ten games at Miami. I mean, it's a great institution. They've got
a good history of football there. This is one of the best defenses statistically
in college football. Now you haveto give an advantage Toledo because there's no
win. It's inside and that's anelectric offense. But I'm not going to
give Toledo this victory. It wouldnot surprise me if Miami not just beats

(52:57):
the spread, they find a wayto upset your Toledo rockets. All right,
we'll see, we'll see what hehates. Will be smiling down on
that ball game. As you know, any other games you want to mention,
there's playoff games in D two,D three. I know we'll probably
talk more about D two and Dthree next week when they get to the
semi finals and the finals of those. But but just a great weekend of

(53:19):
good football coming up. Man,No, we're gonna wait till next week.
Here in Ohio, there's a gametomorrow night, no tonight tonight.
Yeah, Hobing and Maslin start atseven o'clock, I think. And you've
got three Friday and three Saturday. So a great night or weekend for high
school football in Ohio and other states. Catch those games on spectrum if you

(53:42):
can coach who won the day?Let's see they'll win the day, because
you already kind of my thought wasyou already kind of hit on it a
little bit earlier. I thought,I thought I knew it, but I
don't know. We'll see, Sowho won the day? Oh my god,
what a list? What a list? I knew this was a buckle
show, But this is the bestlist I've had all year. I'm not

(54:02):
Kenya, I gotta start with Imean, this would have probably won any
other week. Jamie Chadwell winning atUTEP, bringing in the mariachi band to
play with his team in the lockerroom. I mean that was priceless.
Yeah, I mean, I'm likethat, that's a good one. There's
that's good coach. This one youcan't make up. Bobby Petrino twelve years

(54:24):
ago and what happens at Arkansas andto make his way back after a year
with Jim bow Down there as theOC is now the offensive coordinator at Arkansas
and only in America. Now I'mglad because this is a forgive people society,

(54:45):
and he has asked for forgiveness, and he is a terrific football coach,
a great play caller. But onlyin America does Bobby Petrino get a
chance to go back to Arkansas andmake one point five million dollars. This
was the feel good, not funny. Washington kicker Grady Gross, he has
to make the list, gets askyly after knocking that ball in to win
the game. Another feel good onethis week is Paris Jones. If folks

(55:08):
don't remember, he's the UVA playerthat had the neck injury, and this
week, after three weeks after beingcarted off the field with it was terrible,
he walks out of the hospital.A great story. We've already talked
about Sean Lewis's path San Diego Stateleaves Kent State singing praises for four or

(55:28):
five weeks there in Colorado, he'sdemoted Prime. It's okay because on now
I'm making a lot of money asthe head coach at San Diego State.
That one's good has to be onthe list. Is the play Jalen Millroad,
Isaiah Bond and Gravedigger, I mean, unbelievable. But the runner up
Charon Moore. And it was hardnot to make him the winner. But

(55:50):
Sharon Moore is the winner. Isthe runner up for Win the Day.
But ain't close, Paul, Itain't close. The winner of the Win
the Day award is Jimmy Harball. It is Jimmy Harball. He's self imposed.
He's self imposed three games suspension overthe cheeseburger gate, Khaki gate.

(56:15):
Connor Stallion's come, I'm not goingto take a suspension. Wait, I'll
take the suspension. I'll sit onthe sideline the last three games of the
year. In the game. Ibelieve he's three and oh. Now he's
three and oh has won the lastthree years against the Buckeyes. I believe

(56:38):
he lives rent free and Ryan Day'shead maybe yeah, probably, uh,
three straight Big Ten titles for theMichigan Wolverines and going back for Jimmy if
Jimmy doesn't, if Jimmy plays onHigh State in the twenty twenty COVID year,
Jimmy ate the head ball coach atMechi. They winning that game.

(57:00):
Yeah, and he is back onthe sideline and his khakis on Saturday night
getting ready to hopefully for the Michiganfans and they're seeing their man and his
khakis has survived and beat the Buckeyesagain. It ain't even close. Jimmy
harball. There you go. Ishe is Darth Vader of college football and

(57:22):
he needs to be the Raiders headcoach because there's not a better man to
be the head coach of the OaklandRaiders. He's coaching America's team right now.
Unbelievable America time Coy. All right, let's get serious because there's a
lot of Buckeye fans that want toknow, is there a chance. I
know, we just talked about Iowaand there is a chance, you say,

(57:43):
but the Buckeye fans are hoping theystill get in the CFP. You
and I talked about this earlier.I think they should be number eight,
and I think they're already out.But that doesn't mean anything because we're not
in that meeting room all night Saturdaynight into Sunday morning when they decide who
those teams are and the other gamesthat'll be happening with the new year six.

(58:06):
But now we know there's a chancefor a house state to get in.
What's a take and well they getthere? Well, I mean,
here's the thing. And obviously, because if you just listened to our show,
Paul wasn't one of them. Withinan hour of the loss, the
amount of texts I got from ahigh state fans that are friends of mine,
Hey, you know we can stillget in, right, I'm thinking,
Look, look, hold on,well it happened last year. It

(58:29):
ain't even close to what the setupwas last year. The amount of teams
that have a chance to get incompared to last year, the Buckeyes had
have one thing really happened last year, and it happened. That was Utah
upset USS. That's really all thathappened. Well, the domino effect for
them to get in, I justdon't see how it's going to happen again.
It has nothing to do with whoit is. I don't care what

(58:52):
team it is. I do notthink it's okay. I think you should
put the best four teams in.But if you're one of the best four
teams in America, why are younot playing on championship weekend. I don't
think it's right. A team backsin that's watching the other teams play championship
games this weekend, I don't.I don't. Now does that mean they
can't get in. They can getin. Florida State's probably got to get

(59:14):
beat. The committee, as Isaid, they will be wearing Georgia gear
before they make the decision because ofwhat will happen if Alabama wins that game.
If if Oregon barely beats Washington,I don't know how they're the best
chance for two teams in is thatconference. There's no doubt about it.

(59:37):
But yeah, I mean if certainthings roll right. But again, if
Michigan gets beat, ohistin't get it. Ain't getting in over right, Absolutely,
If Georgia gets beat, they ain'tgetting in over Georgia. They're not.
If Alabama wins, they're really hosed. I mean their best bet is
to hope Texas loses, Florida Stateloses, and something goes spunky in that

(59:58):
Oregon or Washington game, but Imean the cards are stacked against him.
I don't think it'll happen, butwe may be here talking next week about
the semi final and the Buckey's theway this college football seasons win because it
has been as good a storybook andchaos as we could have ever hoped.
My only other thing for you todaybecause it is prior to everything coming out
on Sunday A lot of people talkingabout this week. Kirk Herbstreet has been

(01:00:23):
doing the rounds on the shows totalk about it. This week. He
believes that Florida State, even ifthey go undefeated, is not one of
the four best teams in the country. I don't think you can make that
assessment until about two o'clock in themorning on Sunday personally, But I understand
where Kirk's coming from, and Iunderstand what horse he has in the game.

(01:00:45):
I get it. Do you feelif Florida State wins because they're the
undefeated team coming out of the ACCeven though we know the best quarterback for
them is playing, do they deserveto be in because they went undefeated.
I don't think being undefeated gives youthe word deserve. Yeah, and that's

(01:01:08):
what Kirk says too. They havetheir history so far with this committee has
been resume and Florida State has aweaker schedule than the others that you've said
in terms of strength to schedule andresume. Like I said, if Alabama
has one loss to Texas and yousay Florida State's a better team, and

(01:01:29):
they beat Georgia and you say FloridaState's a better team, I just don't
see it if but what the committeewould have to face to have a champion
of a conference go undefeated thirteen andzero and not get in. But again,
it's how that conversation goes in theroom, because if they're saying the

(01:01:51):
four best teams, they are oneof the four best teams if Jordan Travis
is playing. So it'll be interestingand that may be the game too that
they're hoping goes that way. They'regonna be wearing Georgia gear and they're gonna
be wearing Louisville gear because that wouldclear a lot of things up for It'll
be very interesting to see what happens. I think Louisville finds a way to
win that game, but we'll seeand you said at the beginning of the

(01:02:12):
season. Louisville's your team. You'reriding with them, and I'm sure you're
looking to see what happens with them. And of course they win, they're
probably gonna get a New Year's gameas well, and they've deserved it.
They've managed their schedule the schedule thatthey got and they did well with it.
So coach, thank you, myfriend. Great stuff, fun,
fun, fun for you did agreat job. Thank you. We have
a fun weekend coming up. Man. I can't I can't wait watching them.

(01:02:37):
See my wife works nights tonight,Tomorrow night, and Saturday night.
Guess what Paul's going to be doingfor the next three days, watching a
lot of football, Buddy, lookingforward to it. Enjoy your games too,
