that have just heard that. It'sgood to see. It's good to catch
up and talk about some stuff,All Fair. And I will admit I've
(00:24):
looked this past couple of weeks beenrough. Yeah, and I'll get to
that. I mean it's nothing that, no health problems, nothing like that,
just life and uh and then goodgood things, but life. So
my release is to watch football,to study the games, study your uh
what what do you want to callit that I get every Sunday morning.
(00:45):
I just call it prep. Yeah, you got the prep. I know
which direction that we need to gowith things because of you. And then
I look forward to this. Aboutan hour we have together with All Fair,
about an hour and twenty minutes.Sure, but no, how are
you man? I'm great? Thesunshining, the world's good. I think
they're good, man. I don'tknow if the world's good your world.
(01:07):
You're right about that. If wetake the world as a whole. So
yeah, so well you're talking offair. He and I are going to
start a dispensary visit and call itoh hi, oh, and maybe we
can make some money. Yeah right. I don't know what's going on in
the world. I know that myworld is good as long as I stay
in my space. You know, you might be you better be right with
the man upstairs right now. Ihave a strong feeling with that. But
(01:29):
absolutely anyway, so on my wayover here, Paul I go. I
listened to Channel at XM eighty fourCollege Share Sports Radio a lot. You
know, I'm a big Rick newheisl fan. Absolutely, And then today
though, I flipped over to Channelseventy nine and seventy one listening to Christmas
music. Ah ah, okay, got the ACMs tonight, one of my
(01:52):
favorite nights of the year. Iprogrammed that on eighty four radio stations.
So right now I've got my fingerscrossed it. Every one of them plays
it flawless. Yeah, that's wherecarry in and I've watched it every year
together. We record it if wecan't watch it live. Payton does a
good job. He does. Yeah. Uh, let's make it official.
(02:13):
If I think I would really leantowards writing coast to coast round trip with
a vanload of far left liberal radicals, then move there you go. I
mean moving sucks with the Capital Smovie. So that's where the stuff's been.
(02:34):
You're like, oh my god,can I go do something else other
than and man, I'm old,I'm hurting in places that I've never heard
before. College Hoops's back, Paul. It is men and Women's LSU coach
Malkey's team goes down first game, the defending champs to Colorado. Uh can't
wait to watch my girl Caitlyn Clarkplay and what she's brought to the sport.
Man, you want to talk aboutshooting from the logo, Mike,
(02:57):
she is an unbelievable shooter. Ithoroughly enjoy watching Iowa and Caitlin Clark paying.
And she can shoot the ball atthirty feet. Man, you know
I'm a girl dad. My wife'shead girls head high school basketball coach,
a really good one, and Ilove girls high school and college basketball.
Don Staley's got her refreshman doesn't She'sGino's got his squad back. I know
(03:19):
we've got to get to football, but you got that there. We're in
the midst of high school playoffs herein Ohio and other states. I talked
to some of course US wide.I want to give a shout out to
Belle Fountain coach Jason Brown, oneof my great friends, Upper Arlington coach
Justin Buttermore, Kevin Casty, friendsfor a long long time. Uh.
(03:40):
And the head coach of Gehannah whowas a co captain with myself and Ernie
Adams. Yeah, that his Gehannahteam. Those guys all have games this
week. Well. I watched Arlingtonon Friday night play Pick Central and now
they played Gahannah, Right, isn'tit. I was going to go to
the game, but I couldn't picka sideline, So I'm not gonna go
(04:01):
because I didn't want either one ofthem, any of them to be upset
with me. The next thing, the Browns can play defense. Miles Garrett,
Oh my gosh, what they didthis past week to the Cardinals.
And I hope everyone made wise decisionsat the polls, Paul, but clowns
vote for clowns. We know that. And then, last but not least,
(04:23):
before we get into the show,Connor Stallions must be in witness protection.
Where is Connor? Where is he? Where is he? Well,
he's certainly not on the sidelines atCentral Michigan. And uh but but what
was it? New Mexico said, welcome them to their stadium. They're jump
o trying keep getting It is agift that keeps on giving. Coach.
(04:46):
Let's get started to talk a littlebit about football. The CFB rankings did
an update. It really didn't changeat all. What are your thoughts there?
And and my question for you ison the eye test, who's your
number one today? It's close becausewhen Georgia plays a team that they're supposed
(05:08):
to, you know, they gotthey got to show up. They got
one Saturday, they've shown up andit's gonna happen again. We'll get to
that. I'm okay with the buckEyes being number one. Yeah, I
would be okay if Georgia was numberone. I would not be okay if
Michigan's number one, because they haveplayed nobody and you know, I don't
like to respect. That's not somethingI typically say. Here, here's what
(05:29):
I want to say about the rankings. They are what they are. They
don't mean anything until the last week. Things are going to play out.
But you look at the remaining schedules. O High State, it's got Michigan
State, Minnesota at Michigan, possiblythe Big Ten Championship. Georgia has Ole
miss at ut at Georgia Tech SECChampionship. Possibly it should be Michigan.
(05:49):
Now they're into the teeth of itright on. Yeah, finally going to
play somebody at Penn State at Marylandgot the buck Eyes at the Big House?
Do they have a Big Ten Championship? Do they have a head coach?
Florida State Now three of the topten. I have green dots next
to who has the most favorable schedule. Florida State has a struggling Miami at
(06:15):
home at Northern Alabama and at astruggling in Florida, then a possible A
Sea Championship. Washington's got Utah atOregon State Washington State PAC. Well,
that's yeah, that's rough. That'srough. Oregon has a struggling USC at
Arizona State. But the last gameof the year against Oregon State PAC twelfth
(06:36):
championship. This is the team thatAlabama has to be concerned about, is
the team that beat them head tohead. Because Texas has survived they're sitting
there one spot ahead of Alabama, and if Texas doesn't lose, I don't
see any way that Alabama can passTexas. And Texas's schedule is at TCU,
(06:57):
who's got a losing record, atIowa State who's bounced back, but
they're not terrific, and then theyhave Texas Tech, then a Big twelve
championship, and then you've got Alabama, who's at uk which could be they
could sneak up on them, probablynot Chattanooga, and then at Auburn,
who's okay, but it's a rivalrygame, and then the SEC Championship who
(07:18):
would probably be Georgia. So whenI look at that schedule, FSU,
Texas and Alabama have the easiest pathleft in my opinion, on the eye
test, who's the best team today? Who do you not want to play
if you have a good football team. Georgia because they haven't lost, yeah,
(07:39):
and their quarterbacks playing at a higherlevel than most people probably know,
and they've got guys stepping up andthat tight end of theirs, that guy
that's decent is supposedly running really well, practicing about to come back with Bowers.
So and you know they're going todefend. They've walked the walk,
and you know, I still trustin that team now right now, if
(08:03):
a certain position's playing well, it'shard to bet against the Buckeyes because of
how well they're playing on defense. That's why those in my opinion of the
top two. I don't with everythinggoing on at Michigan, what's going to
happen at Michigan and that we're goingto find out the next three weeks because
they're finally playing their three best opponents, we'll have a clue. I think
(08:24):
Alabama is playing their best football thisseason. I think they're getting better every
week, no question, They're gettingscary good YEP. Could be very interesting
in the SEC Championship game if theymake it. My buddy Ernie Adams told
me straight flat out Alabama had nochance about four or five weeks ago.
I said, are you going togive up on the goat? They still
have great players, Yeah, andthey are trending upward. There's no doubt
(08:46):
about it. When Milroe uses hisfeet, I think it makes them one
of the elite teams in the country. We'll talk about that when we talk
about there Gain. Absolutely, Let'stalk about the Buckeyes right now they beat
Rutgers twenty eight to six. Teamyour thoughts on that game Saturday, Well,
I mean, if you didn't watchit, and a lot of people
probably didn't, they aren't Buckkeye fangers. I think thirty five sixteen they strolled.
(09:07):
No, they didn't stroll. I'mnominated to this as one of the
plays of the year for the Buckeyeseason. Now nine to seven in the
third quarter right uh, Shiano's playingtheir style of game. They're making the
High State play their style of game, and Rutgers is driving, and all
of a sudden, we have aflip of ten or fourteen points because they're
(09:28):
in scoring position. With the JordanHancock ricochet ninety three yard touchdown pick six,
that was a big play and theproblem was Gavin Wimsit threw that into
a closed field safety. When Isay closed field, there's a middle safety.
Open field is two safeties where it'smore open, and that's where that
ball went. That ball should havenever been thrown and it was still called
(09:50):
incomplete on TV because they didn't Youcouldn't see the ricochet clearly the first time.
But it was a great play. But hey, I've been asking for
takeaways that was a that was abig one for the season. My game
takes quickly. We're not going tospend much time on this one. Paul
Buckeye defense only again gives up sixteenpoints. That's a high standard because they
haven't given up more than seventeen allyear. The lead rusher and receiver in
(10:13):
this game back to back great weeksfor Trevion Henderson one twenty eight rush,
eighty receiving into a touchdown. TheBuckeyes won the second half twenty eight to
seven. They finished, they finishedMarvin Harrison only four touches, two of
them for touchdowns. G Scott threetouchdowns or three touches and a touchdown,
(10:33):
and with that Buka and Tate contributing. My question marks has been this way
all year is McCord's accuracy. Ifthey did put together clips all year of
inaccurate throws where guys made catches butcouldn't get yards after catch or they didn't
make the catch because it was inaccuratethrow, he's cost the receivers, my
opinion, a lot of yardage thatthey would have, like I think Marvin
(10:56):
Harrison would stats would even be betterwith some especially early on in the season
with accuracy throws. Gee, let'ssay this about Rutgers and Greg Ciano's teams.
They compete, they play hard, they're physical. They just need more
dudes. Yeah, but I tellyou that fake was crazy? Was crazy,
(11:16):
wasn't it? The Fumblerooskie. Iloved it. I thought that was
fantastic. Well, I mean,it didn't take a rocket scientist to predict
that. We talked about it onthe show last week. You knew you
were going to get it. Thatwas a great design, and obviously it
played out and put them in aposition to compete to win the game until
a couple of those mistakes later onin the game. One question and then
(11:37):
we'll move on. And I putit in my notes. You know,
is there any thought playing Michigan Statethis week that Ryan Day should maybe try
to rest some of these guys. He's really they're really banged up. I
mean, they've got a lot ofguys that are hurting right now and they
could use a bit of a breathbefore before Michigan. Is there a way
(11:58):
in the next two weeks to givesome guy's a break without having any issues.
I'm going to answer that better atthe end of the show. Okay,
because it's a great question. Butat this time and this time of
year, you everybody's banged up,right, There's not a team in the
country that's not got guys banged up, and that the problem is you have
to respect your opponent, but youalso have to respect your players. Is
(12:22):
players aren't stupid. Oh so andso's not playing this week. Coach knows
we don't need him to win.You can't set that tone. But I
have a better answer for you atthe end. Uh. But yeah,
you know, the one is isyou we're going to talk about. I
think Kate Stover, Kate Stover.I think we have to have him healthy
for when we go to Michigan.I really do. He's a unique weapon
(12:43):
because he does so many things inthe run game that we don't notice in
the past game that you do notice, specifically on third down and in the
red zone. But when guys godown, somebody's got to step up.
And again I've said his name nowtwice. Gee Scott stepped up for the
Buckeyes and made some plays last year. Absolutely, he's a very different type
(13:03):
player than cade Stover, but stillvery fun to watch in extremely talented.
Let's move on to the games.Holy cow, the dogs, Like you
said earlier, they do nothing butwin twenty six in a row. They
beat Missouri thirty to twenty one. What a fun football game. Coach Drinkwitz
has done a great job. Miszoocame to compete. It's ten ten at
(13:24):
half, and Georgia does that. They're not the U, they're not the
killers that they've been, and theydon't seem to be, but they just
find ways to win. And listen, Carson Beck can sling it. I
don't know if it was to youor another somebody else that I was texting
during the games, but man,he threw some ropes. Yeah, and
I do I think he's underrated.Twenty one to thirty two to two,
(13:46):
fifty four to two touchdowns, Massoo'sCody Schroeder, he can run it.
He had the one to twelve againstthat Georgia defense every game again, anybody
can see it. Luther Burton, there's a reason he's the highest rate of
recruit they've ever got. Another touchdownsand shows why he was so touted.
Brady Cook fast start, then wekind of petered out. Georgia turned it
(14:07):
up. He ends up fourteen ofthirty two to twelve minus two with those
two interceptions, and a big playin the game was the one that he
threw to the big man. Yeah, nause ear stack House like man touchdown
maybe. But the difference in thegame, in my opinion, is what
typically is the you're not going tobeat somebody that's more talented than you when
you're negative in turnovers and that theyhad two turnovers and Georgia never gave him
(14:31):
the ball. Yep, yep.We were talking about Alabama. The Tide
looks like one of the best rightnow. They scored the final twenty one
points in their game with LSU.They wonted forty two to twenty eight going
away LSU. Can you believe they'resitting there at six and three. I
know at the time number fourteen LSUtwenty eight at number eight, Alabama forty
(14:52):
two points. Coach Saban had tobe pleased of what they did. And
that was when the second half andsituation football Paul at the end of the
game four minute offense, they controlledit because they could run it and that
put LSU away because you know, fourteen points isn't a lot when you got
four or five minutes left in thegame. Jaden Daniels put an asterisk by
(15:15):
his name. Three touchdowns, twonineteen pass, one sixty three rush.
My gosh, he's electric. Sadlythough, their record and their defense is
probably going to keep him from maybewinning the Heisman Trophy. Who's the most
improved player in college football? MillRoe, no question, Jalen Milroe.
He has some jets fifteen of twentythree. He holds the ball until the
(15:39):
last second, doesn't take sacks mostof the time. But now he is
starting to implement the legs as you'vealluded to. One fifty five rush,
four touchdowns. Another big day fromElik Neighbors for LSU ten for one seventy
one in the touchdown. Here's thetwo things though, that separated this game.
(16:00):
Alabama runs for two eighty eight andthere's heat on Matt House. There
has been, there's a lot nowthe defensive coordinator and two obviously Dallas Turners.
Was it or was it not?It was a physical play knock Jayden
Daniels out of the game. Ithink anybody that watches football new when that
happened. The probability was as LSUwas not going to come back. Yeah,
(16:23):
that was sad to see but manthat I had no problem with that
hit. He was going at areally high rate of speed. I mean
he was coming in hot. Fora lack of a better term, I
think if you're an LSU fan,it was targeting. Sure, if you're
not, it's I didn't think itwas. But so be it. I
get it. I get it.Texas thirty three, Kansas State thirty in
(16:45):
overtime. Texas blew a twenty pointlead in the second half. My question
for you is why not kick thatfield goal for the tie and take it
to another overtime? Why not dothat if you're Kansas State? Great question.
Take the points Texas blunders in thesecond half. You know for the
(17:07):
game, they have three turnovers, ten penalties. CASU offense will hired.
They fight back. Malik Murphy helpshim out with the two picks for Texas's
throwing two picks. Yeah. ButWill Howard twenty six of forty one three
twenty seven four touchdowns, but hecontributed two interceptions as well. The keys
Texas defense showed up cas you onlyhad forty yards rushing Texas d got after
(17:34):
him, creating twelve negative plays toput them in some long yarded situations.
Both offenses struggled on third down. But yeah, that My last thing is
not only did they go for it? If you remember how this thing went
down, Kansas State's lining up togo for the points touchdown, and I'm
(17:55):
thinking the same thing you and amillion other people wondering, why the hell
are we not kicking this? Yeah, well, Texas costs time out and
I'm almost certain they weren't empty.Kansas State goes back out there, lines
up and shifts to empty on thefinal play, So and that limits you.
(18:15):
There's a couple things you can't doobviously in the run game and put
more people in pass run pass conflicts. So yeah, I mean he's a
great coach. I hate question incoaching, but there's an epidemic of craziness
that we hit on every week andit just keeps coming back. They keep
letting us talk about it every week. For some reason, he felt like
(18:36):
he had to win the game orlose a game. There there was a
reason that he did that. Ijust don't see that in overtime when you've
got a short field anyway, Ijust I don't know, and I'm with
you, I don't know. OleMiss Texas A and M another great one
thirty eight, thirty five Ole Misswins back and forth. The fingertip kick
block. That was crazy, coach, you say it all the time.
(18:57):
The game does not disappoint. Itdelivered. And then you got A and
M now sitting there at five andfour with that three point loss at A
now eight and one Old Miss closegame down to the attempted block field goal.
A and M with the only MaxJohnson I and T to Ole Miss
is zero turnovers in the game. Both quarterbacks skill on offense with solid days
(19:19):
defense questionable on both sides. Butgetting away from the game, where does
A and M Ross b York whowas an ad was the one of the
ads at WKU when I was thereand Jimbo? Where do they go from
here? They're five at four, they still have a game at LSU where
(19:41):
they will not be fair. Theyhaven't won a road game and it's like
sixteen straight road loss. They havenot run won a road game in two
years. And that's concerning. Andthis thing isn't and this isn't original.
I heard a coach say this,This is a great point. How do
teams play that are having fun? They play fun, they're loose they're just
out having a good time. Didit look like Jaln Milroe and Alabama was
(20:03):
having fun? Oh, he washaving a ball. It couldn't get small
off his face. Yeah. Whenyou watch Texas A and M play,
tell me if it looks like they'rehaving fun, they seem stressed. Well,
I mean, you've got some personalities. They're stressed with expectation and nothing's
changing, and it doesn't look likethere's many guys out there and joining the
play football. And seriously, bothcoordinators and the head coach. I know
(20:26):
one of them fairly well, andI know the two fairly well because of
guys friends of mine that have workedfor him. Those are very three harsh
personalities. I don't know if that'spart of the problem or not. But
the bottom line is is A andM is in a tough place with what
is owed to Jimbo and College Stationis one of the funnest places for a
(20:48):
football game for crying out loud, the twelfth Man for a reason, guy,
I want to play in a greatstadium with an endless budget. Yeah.
A and M is the in themix. Absolutely they are. Let's
move on. Dabbo is fired up. Clemson wins thirty one to twenty three
over Notre Dame. He he reallyfelt this, The team felt his emotion,
(21:08):
everybody felt his emotion. But theteam responded. I mean, Dabbo
is he's got chip on his shoulderright now now a seven and three Notre
Dame. And we talked about itbefore preseason shows, Paul, their schedule's
tough at Clemson now five and fourwith that thirty one to twenty three win,
twenty four to nine at half.Notre Dame was struggling in all three
(21:30):
phases in the first half. Butyou know who the MVP of this game
is, Paul Tyler from Spartanburgh.Okayer from Spartanburg had Dabbo laser focus,
yep, turnovers. Do you knowSam Hartman is O and six against Clemson?
(21:51):
Oh and six, No, Kinton. That's a remarkable stat isn't it.
I mean, I got it thewhole week four stuff and everything.
I hear you. Not a greatday thirteen to thirty one, forty six
to picks. How about Jeremiah Trotterand the pick six to give them some
juice early, But the Clemson dshowed up on third down. The team
was plus one and turnovers and along time since this has happened at Clemson.
(22:14):
Zero penalties, zero that's impressive. That is impressive, pure bedlam and
still water. It won't be thelast Bedlam. I'm telling you right now.
Everybody keeps calling it the last one. Once again, coach it delivers
and Oklahoma State twenty seven Oklahoma twentyfour. What a great game. Loved
every minute of it. And bythe way, I am waving the Ali
(22:37):
flag. Yeah, thank you. You've been talking about him all season.
He needs to be in the conversationfor the Heisman. He's unbelievable. Uh,
we will miss Bedlam. He's gota great smile. Wats that kid
on TV? It's just you wantto root for him. Hey, No,
we don't have time to get deepin. But a quick story about
him that I heard this week. You remember Oklahoma State struggled to begin the
(22:57):
year too early losses. Supposedly hewent into coach Gundhy and said, look,
trust me, give me the rockmore than I've been getting it,
and we're going to go places. And ever since then they've been on a
roll. A game sealed with afourth down stop by Oklahoma straight second straight
loss, for the Sooners twenty seventwenty four ye in Oli Gordon thirty three
(23:22):
carries, give me the Rock onethirty seven, two touchdowns. Both Dylan
Gabriel and Alan Bowman, the quarterbackat Oklahoma State, had solid days.
Bowman zero turnovers to Gabriel's one ina three point game Oklahoma with a missfield
goal. OSU offense eliminates negative playsin Oklahoma State plus two and turnovers in
(23:42):
a rivalry game, but look hugely, hugely underrated in his nineteenth season.
Mike Gundy agreed, what if I'mtelling you check out Ali's smile. Look
at that kid is just happy andhaving a good time, and he's one
of those kids you just want toget behind and say, go boy go.
So why Washington fifty two, USCforty two always take the over when
(24:04):
you're dealing with these types of teasninety four points, Man ninety four points.
That's what I had to do onyour video games. You know you
play video games against your buddies.I mean what I know. Hey,
Michael Pennix was solid. Yeah, but and by the way, USC is
now seven and three. Michael Pennixwas solid, But Washington run game,
(24:26):
yes, three hundred and sixteen yardsseven and a half per carry for the
team. But how about our manDylan Johnson twenty six carries, two fifty
six right at just under ten yardsof touch Are you kidding me? Four
touchdowns? But Paul five hundred andseventy two yards for Washington five point fifteen
(24:48):
for USC. The defenses didn't showup. But this game cost Alex Grinch's
job in about twenty four hours afterit ended. Yeah, it was literally
whoever was going to get a stopwas going to win the game. Yeah,
and some emotional reaction in the standswith Caleb Williams and his mom.
I don't know if he saw thatidea name. I don't know if that's
a good look or a bad look, but that he was just being raw
and real and he's hurting because they'velost three games now. And he's very
(25:12):
very There's a reason he won theHeisman Trophy. He's very talented. Coach
Arizona is three defensive stops away frombeing in the college football playoff conversation.
Three stops and it's almost mid November. Now, they're gonna play the spoiler,
and they did at twenty seven toten over Ucla again one of the
(25:33):
best turnaround jobs in the country.Coach Fish and Arizona led wire to wire,
but they did overcome a lot ofnegative plays on their offense. But
another solid week again the last fewweeks. His name comes up every every
week is quarterback Noah Fafida twenty twoof thirty two, three touchdowns and I
and T Ucla would get in thered zone and couldn't finish, and then
(25:56):
they were missing kicks and you can'tover that. And Arizona dominated the fourth
quarter and third downs on both sidesof the ball. Yep, well the
beams bounce back. Coach Franklin winsthe battle of frenemies. Talk about some
of the other games you want tohit on in our quick hitters. Yeah
we got let let me oh yeah. Number sixteen Oregon State twenty six at
(26:18):
Colorado nineteen fifth loss in sixth gamefor coach Prime. I don't know if
you saw that Sewn Lewis was demoted. I did not, so Pat Shermer
in for Seawn Lewis, and towardsthe end of the second quarter he calls
in run situations two passes that goincomplete. And what that does is it
(26:38):
gives Dju and the Oregon State offensetime and that locks them into a drive
with a penalty by Colorado that putsthem up not seven three, but fourteen
three right before half. And thatwas a huge deal. And coach Prime
he said, he goes, thatshould have never happened, but that's on
me. Colorado gets a safety, but Oregon State gets up twenty three to
(27:03):
five at one point and hang on, Oregon State defense got after Shadur Sanders.
Schadur Sanders I think had seventy eightseventy nine yards the first half running,
and every one of the Arizona playerscomment was our whole deal was to
punish him. I don't know thename. It may have been punished it
was he said it on air,But yeah, Colorado is held to negative
(27:29):
seven yards rushing. Now Maryland thensays, hold my beer. The number
eleven State penn State Nitney lyons fiftyone at Maryland fifteen. The five and
zero Terps are now five and fourwith four straight losses with some tough games
remaining, Maryland was held to negativeforty nine yards rushing negative forty nine.
(27:56):
Part of that problem was to LeahTag of a lowe was sacked six times
and oh yeah, friend of meesPenn State scored twenty seven points in the
fourth quarter. Yeah, defense causedeighteen negative plays. Manny's guys again.
They're playing outstanding this year and probablyDrew Aller's best game twenty five to thirty
four to two, forty four touchdowns, Drew Aller. It's time to peak
(28:18):
because of what's coming up this week. Yeah, got a root for him?
Who else? Jeff Hafley boy eligible? How about that? BC now
six and three with a seventeen toten win over Syracuse. If you have
not watched him, let's hope he'snot in the portal and he stays loyal.
Thomas Costellanos is a true dude atquarterback and has turned that program around
this year. We're on the otherside. Carlos del Rios Wilson threw four
(28:41):
picks to the Boston College Eagles drama. Drama. We have at number three,
Michigan pounds perdue forty one thirteen upthere in sign Gate. Big day
for Corman McCarthy, Virginia Tech,Paul they're now four and five that they
score three points at Louisville. Louisville'seight and one in thirty four to three.
They win the second half twenty tonothing. The Louisville defense again was
(29:04):
outstanding, and they can run therock. Jerard Jordan right fifty seven yards.
Oh, they got another guy,Isaac Garndo one hundred and forty six
yards, three touchdowns. I lovethe way their offensive line's playing. kJ
Jefferson to Tye Roan Broden in overtime. Arkansas thirty nine at Florida thirty six.
(29:26):
Sam Pittman needed to win on thehot seat. The seat just got
hotter again for a man at Florida. And then you've got Uf Botches an
extra point. Then they end upwhich I don't know if I've seen this
before, if you saw, they'regoing to kick a field goal to tie
it, they get a substitution penaltythat takes them five yards back, and
(29:51):
then of course it's gonna happen. They missed the field goal five years yards
deeper than it should have been.So that's a tough way to lose.
Indiana upsets Wisconsin at home, theBuckeyes opponent this year. This week,
Michigan State does the same to Nebraskazero. I can't help myself, can't
(30:15):
help US. Guess what game waszero zero a half? Yeah, yeah,
yeah wins and ten ten to sevenat Northwestern. So did you hear
that there were six baseball games inWrigley Field this season that scored more points
than Northwestern? And Iowa did sixbaseball games at Wrigley Field that scored more
than six. Keep it low man, n C State impressive twenty to six
(30:41):
over Miami. It's hot for crystabalright now. And my last one JMU
and Liberty. So we got Sunbeltand Conference USA with two teams that are
undefeated n C douaa, get yourshi you know what? Together? Why
any hell can they not go playin a bowl game? They're being tition
n Cuba. Are you kidding mehere? If you deserve to go?
(31:04):
In fact, I think it's moreimpressive. They just moved up from FCS
to one a FBS. Let themtry. They're undefeated. Let them go
to a freaking bowl game. That'sridiculous. I'll get off my soapbox,
but come on, sense, it'shard to find, absolutely hard to play.
(31:25):
Let the kids play. It's aboutthe kids playing ball. Week eleven.
Here we go Ole Miss in Georgia, seven pm Eastern on seven pm
Eastern ESPN. Number nine ole Misssits there at eight and one. Coach
Kiffin has taking his boys to seeKirby's number two, nine and oh back
to back defending champ Georgia Bulldogs. The Dogs are ten and a half point
(31:48):
favorites here. Here it is oleMiss is balanced on oh Dart Judkins,
those guys on the perimeter. They'regonna go take on the ninth best defense
in college football, and Carson Beckand that crew on offense have picked it
up for Georgia. Obviously, there'sa big advantage playing between the hedges again
this week. But I cannot waitto watch this game. That's gonna be
(32:09):
a good win. Utah at Washington. Something's got to give. Three thirty
Fox seven and two number eighteen Utahat number five undefeated Washington. The Huskies
are nine and a half point favorite. Fifty two and a half is the
over under UT's tenth best college footballdefense versus Washington's number four total offense.
(32:30):
Washington, can you run the ballagain against that Utah d Just the question
is can Utah score enough points now? They scored him last week, they
did in the previous week, butthey scored him last week, so we'll
see that game's obviously Washington an advantage. Take the over you see at oregone
Yeah yeah, ten thirty Fox sevenand three. USC is unranked at number
(32:52):
six Oregon eight to one. It'sthe number eighteen total defense in the country
for the Ducks against us See,who is gives up four hundred and thirty
six yards per game, which isnumber one twenty And Oregon's got to be
disappointed, Paul because they don't getto face Alex Grinch. Yeah, no,
(33:14):
Alex Grinch. So maybe they'll playone for the Gipper on defense for
the one. I see what trojeswhat bow can do. Tennessee at Missouri.
Chime from Missouri to get back init. Three point thirty almost not
going to have any more SEC Gameof the Week on CBS number thirteen UT
the Vauls going there as a onepoint favorite. At number fourteen. Missou
(33:37):
has to avoid two straight losses.MISSOO UT's third best that they can run
the rock, the third best collegefootball rush offense against MISSOO D that's only
given up one hundred and fourteen yardsa game on the ground. This should
be an outstanding game. Florida LSU. Both those teams need to win really
bad. Yes they do, becauseyou're looking. Florida loses their five and
(34:00):
five, LSU loses or six andfour, and that is not a good
year for either team in those fanbases. UT Number thirteen is oh where
are we at here? Oh,we're on Florida. So now we're talking
of Florida. Yes, yeah,So Florida to five hundred, LSU to
six and four. The question, obviously, is with LSU being a thirteen
(34:21):
point favorite at home in Death Valleyat night on the SEC network, is
jad and Daniels is he back?I haven't heard. I don't know that
number sixty one Florida score for defenseat the number three electric offense. Especially
if Daniels is running the show, this is gonna be a tough one for
the Gators. We'll have to findsomething. Michigan's going to Penn State,
(34:43):
go fighting. Franklin's Man, ifyou're a Buckeye fed noon on Fox can't
Wait number three, Michigan four anda half point favorite on the road at
number ten. Pence State a lownumber at forty four and a half for
the over under. It's Khaki Gatethe Happy Valley for its real first test
(35:05):
to the top three score defenses inthe college game. We'll be right there
at Happy Valley. And does JamesFranklin win a big one. He's got
it, He's got to. Eventually, we're gonna find he needs to win
this one. West Virginia at Oklahomaanother game where both teams need a good
win. Seven PM, Fox sixand three WVU Bowl eligible. We got
(35:29):
number seventeen Oklahoma seven and two.Lost to last two Kansas and obviously last
week at beblin Bedlum. Oklahoma isa thirteen point favorite. Fifty eight and
a half is the over under.WVU can run the ball and they need
to to help keep Dylan Gabriel inthat Oklahoma offense that can score off the
field. On paper, this isa blowout, but people don't understand Miami
(35:50):
and Florida State. They don't likeeach other. This could be a really
fun game to watch, or itcould be a blowout. Three point thirty
ABC, Paul, We've watched sportsa long time. Memories of the heyday
and the wide rights, the widerights, Bobby Bowden that crushed his spirit.
Everybody loved him, the Canes backwhen the Canes were the Canes the
(36:12):
U six and three Miami at numberfour FSU nine and zero sitting there a
fourteen point favorite and a rivalry gamein state, in state recruiting that matters.
Look, Mario Christobaul could use somerelief. This would provide a lot
of Nova Cane It really would.Lance Guidry d for Miami has to show
(36:34):
up and Miami has to take careof the football. All right, we'll
see what happens. One of thegames you're interested in watching this weekend,
we can't miss this one. Imean noon ESPN. It's the number eight
roll Tide eight and one, tenand a half point favorite, going to
play the Kiddy Cats that are sixand three forty eight and a half.
Will the Tide sleepwalk into Lexington? It's a noon game? But now,
(36:59):
Paul, we got to ask,is this offense a true threat that we
saw last week? And Devin Learyand offense have another solid week? Can
they do that against the Tides defense? Noon? Peacock No peacock. Yeah.
Maryland's sitting there at five and fouris a two and a half point
favorite at a now five and fourNebraska off their loss to Michigan State.
(37:21):
Who's bowling? Whoever wins going toa bowl? Maryland, d where are
you gone? I mean, thelast four weeks, it's like what it's
crapped through a goose good d betterversus the run as Nebraska and Maryland,
as we know, likes to throwit so interesting game. Actually, I'm
a little surprised that Maryland's a twoand a half point favorite on the road
(37:44):
at Nebraska. The way that's wentthe last month, and I think it's
my last. No, I gottwo more for you, Paul three,
two PM Pact twelve. You're You'resquad. The number twenty one ranked Arizona
Wildcats are at Colorado, which continuesArizona or Colorado going the other way.
Arizona's the ten point favorite on theroad and we got number three thirty Big
(38:08):
ten Network, Oh well, sixand three Rutgers at Iowa seven and two.
It's a point and a half favoritefor the home team, the Hawk
Eyes. I think this is thelowest of the year. The over under
today sits at twenty eight and ahalf. I'd still take the under.
Oh yes, I'm taking the under. If I was a beton man,
(38:30):
I would take the under. It'sfunny I said, take the under that
game will be physicals can be nowand then last, and you gotta embrace
it. I guess just embrace thelow eight pm ACC network lost two of
their last three duke. They areat number twenty four. U and C
seven and two lost two of theirlast three. They are fourteen and a
(38:52):
half point favorites. Carolina North Carolinais at Chapel Hill. Is Riley Leonard
back? Is the un CD goingto get right? It'll be interesting to
see, Coach. I gotta askyou who won the day last weekend?
I can't believe how many jokers werein the deck for me to some of
these aren't jokers. A couple ofthem are jokers. How many nominees there
(39:15):
were this week? So let's getI've already predicted one. So when we're
done, I'm gonna i'll I gottapull something up while I'm dual threaten it
over here. So yeah, I'veI've already I've already predicted one that you
might you might come with that Iwas thoroughly impressed with last weekend that I
think you'll have on your list. We'll see. Yeah, I gotta pull
this up. Okay, So firstnominee the Washington Huskies run offense. Dylan
(39:39):
Johnson his superb day again, twofifty six ten all right at ten to
carry four touchdowns, outstanding Jalen Milroe. Paul his first week, everybody's like,
what are we going to do?This is going to be the end
of the dynasty? Yeah? Andthen what happens the next week after they
lose to Texas. He's benched. He sits on his rear end. Yep.
(40:01):
But he's still cheered on his twobuddies that went out there and it
was a disaster, yep. Andnow we both agree he is the most
improved football player in America. Helooked like Vince Young out there last week.
How about this one, Paul,Texas the Texas Longhorns. And here's
why they're stepping up, especially themstepping up this past week on the second
(40:23):
half on the defensive side of theball. They're surviving without quinn ew Ors.
He's going to be back more thanlikely next weekend, but could be
this weekend. And you've won withoutyour starting quarterback who's pretty good. And
they're sitting there in a perfect situation. They control their destiny. Next one.
Listen to him on the radio.Congrats to Army Jeff Munkin's crew.
(40:49):
They've had a tough year. Sowhat do they do. They go to
Air Force rank that's undefeated, ranktwenty fifth in the country. They pull
off the upset six takeaways in thisgame. That gives them is the absolute
chance to win the Commander in ChiefTrophy if they defeat Navy in the last
game of the year. Two morePaul Mike Gundy nineteenth year. He owns
(41:15):
what will be one of the lastBedlam games for a long time, and
he's came up short more than he'swon that game. But this game meant
a lot to him and that team. With Oklahoma going to the SEC.
Great for him. And like Isaid, he's underrated runner up. He
almost won it twice this year. He's in witness protection. He's getting fines
(41:38):
from a homeowner's association for selling vacuums. I don't know what the hell's going
on with that. He's a Marinecaptain former, he's got LLC's maybe with
players. Yeah, he's an internationalman of mystery. Conner Stallen's Michigan super
fan that becomes a Michigan coach. You just could not make this stuff up.
(41:59):
You can't make it up. It'sgonna be a hell of a thirty
by thirty man it is. Butthe winner, the winner. Let me
see if I can pull this upfor us, Paul. Let me see
if I can pull this up,if if the internet's gonna work for me?
Here, yeah, here, it'sgonna work. You're ready. So
I'm just gonna play a snippet. But my son sends these to me belly
(42:21):
laughing. You ready, Yeah, here we go. Come on. It's
uh, what's it called when it'sspinding the wheel? Oh? It's thinking
you lost the division crown and yourchances. As I know I told you
(42:45):
will now won't just in case youdon't see you on First Take tomorrow morning.
Ye, Paul, Stephen Ason,Now I gotta admit I used to
not be able to stand Stephen A. Smith. Yeah. I thought it
was a clown show. But hehis entertainment and what he's done with him
(43:09):
and the Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescottand calling the fan based cockroaches after the
game, and you know, whenyou're watching the cow I was rooting for
the Cowboys as soon as I sawwhich direction that Cowboy was on the game
which almost came back one. You'rethinking, you know it's coming. So
I want to thank the Cowboys forallowing us to get another week of absolute
(43:35):
clown But it's funny and like Isaid, it makes me laugh because Alex
our Son he thinks that's the funnieststuff ever, and he sends me every
time he does it, he sendsit to me. That's fantastic. The
one thing I thought you might mentionc J. Stroud, Oh wow,
what a day. That's a miss, what a drive? What everything?
I struck my gosh. I satin a in a Irish pub with my
(43:59):
fan family having dinner and a fewdrinks Sunday and I watched that drive and
I watched a little bit of himplaying football. He is unreal right now.
My goodness, that's a great callright there. That's a strikeout.
That was three swing and misses. For me to miss that one because I
didn't get to watch the game.Yeah, obviously I did see highlights.
I saw what he did. Let'snot forget what happened before they played their
(44:22):
first regular season game. He wasnamed captain. Yeah, as a first
year rookie, which told me,right then these guys believe in him for
what he's doing in the building andin practice, and yeah, he's he
showed it around one hundred and fiftyseven yards for a rookie quarterback and the
guy that took it, they tookin front of him. Not that he's
not going to be good, buthe is struggled mightily. Bryce. Yeah,
(44:44):
no question. I just props tosee Jay Stroud. Buckuy's hosting Michigan
State. It's a night game inthe Shoe Saturday on NBC seven thirty.
Is the kick the Spartans won lastweek. But coach, we all know
they're struggling. How does this gamego for the Bucks? Who are They're
still not dominant on offense. Thebuck Eyes have to show they can be
(45:05):
dominant on offense with all the weaponsthey have, and I think they need
to do it this weekend. Butyeah, so we got a three and
six Michigan State team going to playin the Horseshoe, the number one ranked
buck Eyes just a slight edge witha thirty one and a half point favorite
from Vegas seven thirty. We gota night game in Columbus on NBC.
(45:25):
The first thing I think about whenthis game comes is the Mel Tucker debacle,
right, and what it teed upfor these kids to go through at
Michigan State and that staff. It'sa tough year on Michigan State's players.
There's fans, staff, and theshame of it is that they have a
really good man leading them in theentrum in Harlan Barnett. I've known hard
in a long time. He's agood man. What we're going to see
(45:49):
structurally real quick Michigan State based ondefense out of a four to two five
on defense. Offense is multiple andwhat I mean by that they play different
personnel groups, different formation groups. They have a multitude of scheme in the
run game. But they've struggled toscore mightily. They're not really good at
anything that they don't have an identity. That's why they're one hundred and twenty
(46:10):
first in the country just scoring eighteenpoints a game. And that doesn't make
you feel good if you're a MichiganState fan, because you're going to face
the number two score defense in thecountry that's only given up ten and a
half. They started the season offtwo and oh, but it was a
MAC component in Central Michigan and itwas at one double AFCs team in Richmond.
(46:31):
They're two and oh then they losesix straight and before this home upset.
That did surprise me last week becauseI thought Nebraska kind of had it
figured out and we're going to havehad a chance to get to seven eight
wins. But they take one fromNebraska in the close game twenty to seventeen.
But you know, Paul, thisis all about Ohio State and they
(46:52):
get a few of those games ayear where there's such a difference in talent
level is do you remember? AndI don't want to put you on the
spot, but you asked me lastweek who and you agreed with me who
I thought looked like the team youdidn't want to play next week because they
did three things. They could runthe ball, they could stop the run,
(47:15):
and they had high level play atquarterback. Do you remember what team
that was? I think we're talkingabout Oregon. You got it? Yeah?
Great. So here's where I'm atwith this. This goes back to
your question I said, I'll havea better answer for you later about playing
time for guys. Is a faststart for the Buckeyes is critical for a
(47:37):
couple of reasons. But they haveto respect their opponent to play with a
fast start, even though they're talented. They can't. They have to come
out focused and let's get up onthem. Twenty one to nothing, twenty
eight nothing early midway through the secondquarter. Okay, when I go back
to run the ball, stop therun and high level quarterback play two out
(48:00):
of three the buck Eyes got.The thing that's not consistent is Kyle McCord.
I mean what I mean There's beentimes, especially in short yardage situations,
where the offensive line we know, but we haven't called them out much
lately. I mean, they weren'toutstanding offensively last week, but still all
of those issues were McCord because we'veran and the Buckeyes have ran the ball
(48:22):
well the last two weeks. Backto the key of the season I said
last week. If he's out there, he is as much of different makers
any running back in the country otherthan maybe Ali, and that is Trevion
Henderson because he helps you in therun in the past game, he relieves
get and takes some stress off McCordhaving to make plays throwing it. The
(48:45):
next thing about the buck Eyes, all about the buck Eyes is the defense
continues to do what it's done allyear and that's limit explosive plays. That's
the biggest fix I've seen on theirdefense from a year ago, the dead
Horse Award, special on special teams. Still haven't seen it. Yeah,
nothing at all. And then thisone which you and I don't talk,
(49:07):
stay healthy, durability. All ofa sudden, you go into the game
at the Big House and you don'thave Henderson, you don't have one of
the studs on offense that make adifference. As we saw Gee Scott stepped
up. But you'd like to haveKate Stover in the game. Absolutely,
But this goes back to really whatyou asked without us knowing we were going
to talk about it at my lastpoint. If you get a fast start,
(49:31):
how do you help your team stayhealthy? You get the backups in,
Yeah, get them some reps. It's great from a row, Trevion.
We're early on in the third quarter, we're up thirty five. Great
job. We'll see on Saturday nextweek. Marv. We love you.
Unless we're trying to get you acouple more catches to help you maybe get
a Heisman. Go have a seatbecause we need you for at least the
(49:52):
Michigan and hopefully the championship game.I'm not going to overlook Minnesota. But
yeah, that's why I said Ithought it'd have a better end to your
question. It's hard to just sitthem because it can backfire on you,
right with other guys saying, well, why does he get to sit?
Yeah, hey, coach thinks wegot this one in the bag. That's
not that's rat poison is get thefast start, Come on, calm accord,
(50:15):
traveon, stay healthy, make plays, let's get up, Let's get
the backups in and let's see ifthe defense continues to do what it does
and smother people start rotating players, and let's do it. Let's get a
fast start. Let's take care ofMichigan State early. It's gonna be a
nice night and the shoot. Fromwhat I can tell, if you're going
to the game, you're gonna enjoythat. I'll tell you what I'm going
to enjoy. I believe you Aand Gahana is on TV tomorrow or Friday
(50:38):
night, I'm going to enjoy that. Yeah. Well, they were on
last week and there was a rumorthat they want to have Gahana on and
that I think that'd be perfect forthem, So well, I'll let you
know if I see. But I'vewatched a Friday night game four weeks in
a row now. That's been nice. I miss hanging out with everybody doing
postgame, but I've been able tocatch those games on TV. Never been
(51:00):
able to do that in my entireradio career. But four weeks in a
row now, I've watched the gameon Friday night, had a few drinks,
and went to bed early. Itwas a nice It's been nice.
And last week I said, Igot CUA and in Central play a really
good football game. They play whattwo overtimes, so it was a good
game. It was fantastic. Thankyou, sir as all. Thanks for
(51:20):
bringing it. The delivery man washere man he brings it everywhere. Absolutely,
enjoy your evening. This is theOh Show on iHeartRadio. Tell your
friends about it, share it witheverybody you know, and enjoy it as
much as you can. We'll beback again next week on another episode.
