(00:00):
Welcome to the Oh Show on iHeartRadio, along with the best college football analysts
of any podcast out there. CoachAJ Pratt. My name is Paul James.
How are you doing? Man?Happy Thanksgiving? Happy Thanksgiving, my
friend. But that you talk aboutgetting your boots on, that's a little
tooty. I'm not even the bestanalyst on my street. Well yeah,
I don't know about that. Iyou know. I well, I say,
(00:23):
you're not the best coach in thehousehold. I get it. And
the season starts tonight, doesn't it. It does, it does, But
we gotta start this off. RyanDay to Texas A and M. No,
you said that to me, andI was like, that is that's
what it says on Twitter? Imean, isn't it always everything on their
truth? If it's online, it'sgotta be true, right, So no,
(00:43):
I would think Lane Kiffin to TexasA and M before before Ryan Day.
But you know, Paul, thisis my favorite week of the year,
Thanksgiving week. Family, all theblessings. There's no pressure of gifting,
yep, you just hanging out andand by the way, there's a
few games on. There's a littlebit of football on Thursday, Friday,
(01:04):
Saturday, Sunday, Monday. Ithink we lose maction this next week,
so it'll end on Monday. Buthey, look we got great out in
the hall. We're talking about greatbasketball, high school, college men's,
women's obviously, the slate of collegefootball this week, the NFL slate this
week. Love spending time with thefamily, and obviously, like I like
(01:29):
to eat high school football semi finalshere in the state of well High this
week. But Paul, I don'tknow about you. Maybe maybe you're a
Black Friday guy, But I'm justsaying you all go enjoy Black Friday,
because I want to be enjoying Fridaylike I enjoy my Saturdays in the fall,
right on the couch, watch theball. Absolutely, absolutely, absolutely
(01:49):
best wishes. My wife's working atthe Big K on h on Friday.
I took a few hours in themorning for the company and and he said,
well, when do you need tobe done? At about eleven forty
five? He goes, okay,I can help to about eleven forty functuous,
Yeah, I do. I getto leave here immediately after and head
(02:12):
to my wife and daughter that's asenior their first regular season game of the
year at home which is pretty cool. It's point eight miles from our new
home, so that's nice. ButPaul, I got a question for you
favorite Thanksgiving food? What's your favoriteThanksgiving food? Well, my mom's noodles.
We call them Bebie noodles, andmy mother's noodles. She passed the
(02:34):
recipe down. Long story, Iwon't get into it because I get a
little sweaty in the eyes when thathappens. But Mom left us the recipe
in a very special place and said, if you're getting this tradition, I
have passed and you got. So. Yeah, so my mom's noodles,
which my wife was actually working onwhen I left the house to come see
you today. So and she hasto make enough for all the boys to
(02:58):
take home because our family is extendednow, so that'll be nice. But
yeah, you know, for me, I was kind of a little bit
depressed because my brother in law fromTennessee that is a great cook, has
deep fried turkeys. Now baked Turkey'sjust nothing to me right now right now.
Yeah, the deep fried, Wellhe's not coming up from Tennessee.
(03:19):
So I called my other brother inlaw down in the dumps and he said,
well, I'm deep frying a turkey, and he made my day with
that. My mother in law's chickena noodle, homemade chicken and noodles,
my mother in law's homemade oyster dressing, and then my wife and my mom's
deviled eggs. You can keep thecranberry sauce. You can keep the sweets
(03:40):
real quick, because we got togo pumpkin or pecan pie. What's your
dessert? Go to dessert? Well, I love pecan pie. I am
a huge fan. I don't believeI have pecan pie tomorrow. I believe
we'll just have pumpkin pie, andI believe someone is bringing an apple pie.
But yeah, I'm I love pecanpie. You can keep the sweets,
but if I'm pick one, I'mtaking to the absolutely. I will
(04:01):
tell you one thing. I toldthis this morning on the radio. I
can't wait until Friday because I amgoing to get a drink after I'm off
my shift. I'm going to turnon that that Iowa Nebraska game at noon,
and I'm going to go in andthink of my mom because I'm going
to take the wonderbread and I'm gonnaget that cold turkey breast. I'm gonna
put it right on there with abunch of miracle whip and two big slices
(04:24):
of crunching letter and I'm going torun a knife right down through that bad
boy, and I'm gonna think ofmy mother and go, Mama, you
raised the boy right. She did. Absolutely looking forward to that, so
that that'll be a good thing.But coach, let's talk football. Man's
what's happening. I mean, lastweek you and I were going back and
forth about a lot of games, including the Buckeye game, the thirty seven
(04:46):
to three win over Minnesota, whichwe don't need to spend a whole lot
of time talking about that. Butthe big topic that you and I were
talking about is this new age ofcoaches, the younger coaches and their decision
making and analytics and really bad clockmanagement. I know, lot of guys
I was texting were all just reallyfrustrated with guys giving up games and not
(05:10):
giving their players an opportunity to work. It's the worst I have ever seen
in forty eight plus years, Paul. And you know Ernie Adams, he's
one hundred percent on board with meas well as other older coaches, because
look, it's nonsensical. It's everyweek. And the thing is is analytics
(05:30):
can almost tell you to go dothat thing every time. If I'm an
ad I made a list. Itook the time to make a list of
those that I would be confident inright now that would manage the clock properly
situations, properly use the timeouts, and properly not chase points when you don't
need to. And they trump athleticswith gut feel and experience. And what's
(05:55):
sad this list stain't very long.No saving yep. Kirby Farens yep,
definitely, no question. Brian Kelly, Mack Brown, Dave Dorn, Mark
Stoops, Mike Gundy. I trustthese guys, Jim Harball, Kaylin de
Boor, Jeff Brown, Jamie Chatt, Chadwell, Mike Elko, you freeze,
Willie Fritz. I do trust LukeFickle. Three the three Academy coaches.
(06:18):
They have to manage the game.Sonny Dyke's I'm missing a few,
but for sure the list has hasshrunk. And the segue into our Buckeye
game last week. My frustration forthe Minnesota Viking players at the end of
the first half, they punt upand pen him inside the five yard.
The Buckeyes are backed up with abouta minute ten left, and they're only
(06:40):
up thirteen points. It's third andmedium, they're on their own ten yard
line. PJ. Fleck doesn't callit time out, doesn't call timeout.
Then they got another third down andlong, like third and eight, third
nine, and now there's like thirtyseconds left. You still make them punt.
You block the kick. It's aone score game because the Buckeyes are
getting the ball to start the secondhalf. I mean, I sat there
(07:02):
and thinking, what in the hellis going on here? And that's the
kind of stuff. Yeah, I'msitting here at the studio. PJ.
Flex a head coach at Minnesota.I get it. But come on,
man, but you know as wellas I do. Trustill watched that and
what what the heck are you doing? Man? I taught you better than
that. And then and then Daygets the ball and they asked him about
it today on his show and said, what were your thoughts when you got
(07:25):
the football? And he said twothings. If we couldn't do anything on
first or second down, we werefine because we knew we were getting the
ball at the beginning of the secondSo what do they do? They tried
two plays and get absolutely nowhere, and they were horrible play calls and they
really lost their opportunity. Luckily, they got that ball back to start the
second half, and they pounded andpounded and pounded, and you guys know
(07:46):
what happened to start the second half. But I mean, I don't think
they handled that drive right. Iwill just say the thing that frustrated me,
it's always about the players, andat that moment, it was obvious
to me, let's keep this closeand get out of here and not get
embarrassed instead of what gives my guysthe best chance to win. That's what
upset me. For those Minnesota gofor players at the end of the first
(08:09):
half, well said, Well said, other than that, what in the
game do you need to highlight ordo you feel like you want to highlight
from from last week? Obviously thedefense starting to get takeaways. That's fun
to see, especially when they're celebratingand enjoying that. That's become kind of
a thing now in football, isthat when your defense does those great things,
(08:30):
you have those fun celebrations. AndI think they're figuring it out to
the point that they got flagged sowell we'll hit the Buckeye game first and
get it by and then we'll comeback to the college football playoff rank.
You coy, We're not going tospend time here. This is the only
thing that started that we said wewere hoping to see. Paul was a
fast start, and this was aslower start than the previous week thirteen.
(08:52):
Nothing at half. But let's startwith defense. I'm gonna call it elite
through the second, scoring defense byjust tenths of a point at nine point
seven or something a game. They'vebeen elite. Gave up three points,
allowed one hundred and fifty nine totalyards, outstanding, two defensive takeaways with
nine negative plays. We hadn't seenthe takeaways, and tremendous on third down,
(09:16):
and they are still not allowing explosives. That's what I saw. Offensively,
Kyle McCord has another good game, complete sixty seven percent, zero turnovers.
Kyle McCord distributed the ball. Youhad ten skilled players that had catches
in that game. The offensive linehas improved since Week one, There's no
doubt about it. Balance, they'renot allowing negative plays. They dominated third
(09:39):
down and we haven't said that alot this year about the Buckeyes offensively,
no turnovers plus plus plus the keyagain with big plays. If you're a
Buckeye fan, you love Travion Hendersonand what he's doing ten plus yards per
touch, He's gonna make you miss. That's Marvin may not be McCord's best
friend. It may be Travion Henderson, and we've talked to that. But
(10:01):
Paul the Buckeye seemed to be peekingat the right time. And for perspective
perspective, Kyle McCord has thrown fortwenty nine hundred yards at a sixty six
plus percent. He's completing two outof three passes, and he has thrown
twenty two touchdowns to four picks ineleven games. And if somebody told me
that before the year, I'm saying, I like Kyle McCord and he's done
(10:24):
his job. I only have onething that bothers me about McCord, and
I was telling Kirk this before yougot here. I don't feel like he's
able to lead his receivers for themto get more yardage. I feel too
many times that the receiver is waitingon the ball it's a fifty to fifty
ball, or they're turning around toget a football, but they're not able
(10:46):
to get a whole lot of yardsafter catch because he's not putting him in
He's not putting them in that position. Is that just my locker? Is
that you know? No, you'rea spot on Ernie and I talk about
that all the time. Marvel andHarrison, the other receiver's numbers are better
because the yards after catch because they'recatching it one foot in front, one
foot in front. He has struggledwith accuracy at times, and that frustrates
(11:09):
some Buckeye fans, especially people thatreally understand the game, because you're spot
on with what you said. Butif that's the biggest bang I can give
on the guy. He's managed. He's managed the football team to this point
to be an undefeated Jack Sawyer wasincredible in that day. Yeh bes game.
Gosh, she was so good.Let's talk about the CFP and the
rankings. Georgia, Ohio State, that team up North Washington. I feel
(11:33):
good about the top four. Ifeel good about the second four because most
importantly, coach, I believe it'sall gonna work its way out in the
next ten days. Your thoughts.Yeah, So, now there were nine
and the ninth, and the ninthis stretch, but things can fall out
that the ninth can make it unlikely. But there's a ninth. You got
Georgia is sitting there at one.I agree, you got Georgia Tech Alabama,
(11:56):
so something's got to give there. You got Ohio State with the game,
and then they're playing Iowa and peoplewill laugh. What my thoughts on
that next week if they're in thatgame, Michigan the game, and Iowa
if they're the winner Saturday, andthen Washington My opinion actually because it doesn't
(12:18):
matter right now. Washington should benumber two. Ohio State should be three,
Michigan should be four. And whydo I say that Because in the
in the history of this of theCommittee and the CFP, resume has mattered
most. No one has a betterresume than Washington this point, nobody,
I think five. They've defeated fiveranked teams F s U. I agree
(12:41):
with where they're at. Uh,They've got they're at the swamp and got
Louisville left, and then Oregon's gotOregon State and probably it will have Washington,
probably, but that's not a slamdunk. Texas has Texas Tech at
home and it still could be OklahomaState, Kansas State, or Oklahoma that
they would face in the championship game. Obviously, Alabama's got the Iron Bowl
(13:03):
this weekend and they're going to gettheir shot at Georgia. And then the
one that I asked for that's ninthis Louisville. They got the end state
game against Kentucky this week. Theyget a chance to play what's probably maybe
it is still an undefeated team inFlorida State. But the way it plays
out, Paul, I agree. You've got the game, You've got Alabama
playing Georgia. You've got FSU witha in state rival, and an ACC
(13:26):
championship with no Jordan Travis Sadly,You've got Oregon and Washington. Whoever wins
out is in. If they wentout there in and then Texas wins out,
they're probably in because of their headto head against Alabama. But I
will finish up with saying this,I agree with Paul Finebaum today. I
don't always agree with Paul fine baumb, but what he said today on this
one I agree with. It's hiswords where it's absurd that an undefeated team
(13:52):
deserves to be in the Final fourbecause of scheduling and resume. It's the
committee's job to put the best fourteams that they come to agreement on.
Who are the best four teams incollege football? Because what I agree with
Paul Feinbaum, you cannot convince me. I don't care if they get drilled
by twenty by Alabama. Georgia isby far one of the four best football
(14:15):
teams in college football. I don'tcare how the season ends up. Don't
care my opinion. And we're goingto find out how they feel about Jordan
Travis not playing for the rest ofthe season or playing it all ever in
college at Florida State. That wassuch a horrific injury and really has put
a big asterisk on their season. So we'll see what happens. It's horrible,
(14:35):
it really is. Let's roll downsome of the other games from last
weekend. Let's talk about that WashingtonOregon State game. Oh my gosh,
what a mess. I mean.I went and looked and you had texted
me and said it's pouring down rain, and I said, yeah, I
knew that. And I went overto that game and I looked at it
and I immediately went and checked theforecast. It was thirty seven degrees and
raining sideways, not for ten orfifteen minutes all night long. That has
(15:01):
just gotta be miserable. So myintroduction to this game, it was a
dry, warm day in the PacificNorthwest. That it was not, that
it was not. The Huskies findanother way to win. Yeah, a
big penick Penix to roam, aDoonza throwing catch back shoulder, fourth and
(15:22):
three to finish that game with therain of coming down. They were plus
two. Washington was against a goodOregon State team plus two and turnovers with
three Husky defensive takeaways which which werehuge. They did overcome too many penalties
with a tremendous job on third downto get off the field defensively. But
credit to Oregon State d in thesecond half, DJ used legs. How
(15:46):
about that rumbling play where he's runningover people to get the sideline and the
fans back end of the game. And then obviously a good player and running
back Damien Martinez who did run forone twenty three, But turnovers and third
downs were too momuch to overcome forOregon State. But again it's like Washington,
we know Pennix is going to throwit and this wasn't his best throwing
day, and the weather obviously didn'thelp it. But some of those him
(16:10):
to odoonsay three or four plays inthat game, especially the last one to
put it away. They find away each week to to win it.
I watch him play a lot,and I really enjoy watching his mom cheering
him on. I think that that'sbecome kind of a thing I think in
college football now with that's it's fun. Next time you see Washington, which
could be this weekend in the AppleCup or next weekend the championship game,
(16:33):
notice that they will show Penis's momshe's a good time. Arizona blows out
Utah. Coach, this Arizona teamis four bad plays away from being undefeated.
In the conversation, they are unbelievable. Right now, Utah goes on
the road now getting a fourth loss. Was it forty two eighteen Arizona and
you're right, you got an eightand three team. Jedfish absolutely should be
(16:56):
up for Coach of the Year. The job they've done. It's been a
long time since Arizona was competitive, but the injuries have caught up and the
lack of running game are haunting Utahright now. Arizona being one of the
best stories in twenty twenty three incollege football. In my opinion, I
say this name every week. NoahFafida another big day. Defense takes it
(17:18):
away and holds U Tah to onlythree point two per carry. You had
the Arizona punt return touchdown by AnthonyWard, so a big play in all
three phases there. But Utah strugglesto run and Bryson Barnes makes plays,
but he's got a trend of turningthe ball over, which he did again,
throwing it to Utah or to Arizonaa couple time. But Arizona takes
(17:41):
care of it. They pay,They have good play at quarterback. They
started fast, and they finished strong, so really impressive by the Wildcats.
I would love on New Year's Dayto watch Arizona play Missouri. It's not
going to happen, but I thinkthose are the two hot up and coming
teams that people in the country needto watch play because they're both phenomenal football
(18:02):
teams that have overcome playing against someof the best teams in America to only
be standing there at the end witha couple losses. I would love to
see him play each other and PaulI may be wrong, but I think
if the Arizona still has a chance, I think to be in the PAC
twelfth Championship at Forregan with stumbles thataccurate, that is correct. But we'll
see what happens Friday night. Yep. Obviously that's a big one. We'll
(18:23):
talk about that in a few minutes. Texas beats Iowa State twenty six to
sixteen. Big Twelve. It's atotal toss up, and right now anyone
can win the Big Twelve. There'slike twenty scenarios or something. Well,
here's the good news for Texas andnot about the CFP because they've got the
big win at tusclusive. But here'sthe good news for Texas that I see
(18:44):
as a coach. Quinn Ewers hasbeen really good in the fourth quarter all
year. He's been good in thefourth quarter, you know, because it
was a slow start for Texas, but a touchdown, a two point conversion
helped put the game away on theroad there late. Texas runs it okay
without Jonathan Brooks, but they're goodupfront on offense and defense. This is
the biggest part of their game tome right now, beyond yours, is
(19:07):
that what they have on both sidesof the line of scrimmage. But good
performances in this game by both coachesquarterbacks. You know, Iowa State has
gotten better. Rocko Becked has hada good few weeks. Seventy five percent
completion in this one. Three twentythree keeps him in the game. But
again Viewers does not turn it over. And another game with a strong finish
(19:29):
in the fourth quarter. If youappreciate physical rivalry games that are just you
smack me, I'll smack you again. Kansas State, Kansas delivered thirty one
twenty seven Kansas State wins. Itwas like a heavyweight fight. They just
they just bashed each other and itwent back and forth. And you know,
Kansas looked good earlier in the game. Will Hirard with that fourth quarter
(19:51):
touchdown to clinch a road rivalry win. It's hard to allow two thirty four
on the ground, Paul and getout gained and win unless the other team
does what turns it over? Turnsit over. Kansas gave it to Kansas
State three times, maybe just oneless one less turnover in that game,
Canda, the Jayhawks come away withthe win, but they didn't. Kansas
(20:12):
quarterback Cole Ballard only one sixty twopass and two of those were his costly
interceptions that helped Kansas State get outof there with a win. Georgia destroyed
Tennessee thirty eight to ten. Imean it wasn't even close. Well,
I mean it was at the beginning, and then all of a sudden it
just went. When they set twentyone in a row, twenty one straight
first play from scrimmage, I meanit happened. I turned the game on,
(20:34):
and I'm like, dang, yeah. Jalen Wright seventy five yard touchdown
first play from scrimmage, Paul, and the rest of the game, he
has fifteen more yards on eight carriesthe entirety. The team only has fifty
five more rushing yards in the game. Georgia, by committee, continues to
run the ball. Eight players touchit for one fifty six led by Kendall
(20:57):
Milton. Ut could not stop Georgia'soffense, allowing three hundred and sixteen yards
of passing. Uh and they didit without Lad mcconkee in this game.
Ross to me, Jack Saint BellBowers just those three two forty four touchdowns,
Paul, two things, and Ithink it's sad as strong an arm
(21:18):
as Joe Milton has, it's justhe ain't got it. Uh and he
doesn't have the guys on the perimeterthat Hendon Hooker had last year. I
understand that, But Paul Georgia,I've said this before, so I don't
want to beat a dead horse, but it is so impressive to me.
They are one of the best tacklingfootball teams I've ever watched play. They
(21:40):
don't miss tackles. And then thesecond thing is you're watching the most underrated
football player in college football. CarsonBack. Carson Back twenty four thirty two
ninety eight three twenty three touchdowns, doesn't turn it over, distributes the ball,
he can sling it, and hemakes good decisions. I'm serious.
Carson Back will play on Sundays. There's no doubt in my mind. There
(22:03):
you go. Missouri beats Florida thirtythree thirty one. Like I said,
Missouri is a blast to watch playfootball. They're fun. Yeah, where
is my Missouri versus What was thescore of that game? It was thirty
three to thirty one was the final? Yeah, I don't I know I
did that game. That's all right. Being know what. Missouri is really
good and they're really fun to work. Well, here's the thing about Missouri
(22:26):
is they've got they've got hold on. No, no, no, Paul,
that's that ticks me off. We'llmove on. But Missouri has a
good quarterback, they have a goodrunning back, and they have one of
the best receivers in the country inLuther Burden. And here's the thing in
that game with Florida, Florida's gotthem at fourth and seventeen with thirty eight
(22:49):
seconds to go in that game andLuther Burden catch from Cook converts, they
get the kicker out there, theywent it on a kick. Florida had
a chance to beat who I believeit is the third bet. I believe
Missouri clearly is the third best teamin the SEC this year. I do
believe. And their head coach isdoing a phenomenal job this season. There's
no question about that. Louisville beatsMiami thirty eight to thirty one. The
(23:12):
Cards survived, and that's exactly whathappened. Miami played probably their best game
of the season. Yes, agreat win on the road. Kevin coleman
Man beat her route at the endof the game. Late fourth quarter of
the two Miami defensive backs run intoeach other knock each other down great called
expecting man coverage. Jake Plumber distributesthe pass to twelve different offensive players in
(23:37):
the game. Louisville wins the hiddenyards. They're solid on special teams.
You had the fifty yard kickoff returnby Maurice Turner, and then Louisville creates
more negative plays defensively than Miami didto overcome what was the only turnover in
the game, which was the PlumberI in t Okay. Michigan beats Maryland
thirty one twenty four even without apassing game. Again, Michigan wins that
(24:02):
game. And I heard Coach Locksleytalking the other day, and I think
you felt like they had they shouldhave been able to win that game.
I really feel like you felt thatway. I thought I was watching what
was going to make Buckeye fans celebratebecause it just had the feel because the
way the game started, if youremember, Maryland couldn't get right. No,
they couldn't do anything right. Youhad the Michigan offensive touchdown, then
(24:23):
you had to hit on Tealia, which was a scoop score, and then
you had to punt block for safetyand you're like, man, this thing
is going to get ugly. Andthen here comes Maryland. It's twenty nine,
twenty four. They fight back inthe fourth quarter. Michigan's Mike Sanstro
had a big game. Two itstwo more Blake corm touchdowns for the Michigan
offense, but a very questionable andit was nothing but a judgment call on
(24:49):
the intentional ground and down there thatended in a safety to give Michigan a
seven point lead. But Michigan allowedfifteen rushing yards Paul, so there was
still a strangle hold on Maryland's runninggame. But Michigan on only won won
by seven, and that was withthree Maryland turnovers and two safety So this
(25:11):
was not their best day. Now, we talked about it last week.
Maryland doesn't fill the stands. It'sa lazy day there in Maryland. You
got the game coming up next week. You just came off a high at
Penn State and all the drama thatcame on a plane ride a happy Valley.
But the only concern here was isthe Michigan offense only average three point
(25:32):
three per rush. They need tobe better on Saturday, I tell you,
and I know, I know yourfriends with coach Locksley, he's got
that team one went away from sevento five and being in a bowl game
for four years in a row. He's rebuilt that program. Yeah, but
I'm gonna tell you right now,he's not happy with seven and five and
six and so he because he's hadopportunities this year that he I mean that
(25:56):
that game, the Northwestern game,he's got to be frustrated. He fully
expected to be one of the topfour teams in the league because of the
talent and having to Leah come backattack of Aloa to come back, and
that was a signature win that theylet it by. This past week,
Yeah, they could have got itdone. Maybe the biggest upset of the
season New Mexico State going into Auburnand dominating them, and an undefeated team
(26:19):
suffers the game day curse, youknow, the highlighting our quick here.
So sometimes in life for things togo right, you have to feel the
lowest of the low, and that'swhat Auburn fans and you freeze, and
that staff and those players felt like, now, let's give Jerry Kill.
(26:40):
I think they're nine and three.Paul. Yeah, but Jerry Kill and
New Mexico State. The Aggies justgot paid one point eight million to go
beat Auburn on the planes, andthat is unbelievable. New Mexico State ran
for two thirteen. The mighty AuburnTigers in the SEC ran for sixty five
(27:00):
yards. Uh. New Mexico Statesacks Peyton Thorn four times and uh they
double Auburn's total yardage. So thiswas a very tough day. And what
was shocking to me if you didn'twatch it, it's not the score.
They dominated the line of scrimm. They did both sides of the ball.
Uh. If somebody said, hey, New Mexico State's coming into to Auburn,
(27:25):
Alabama and they're going to dominate theTigers at the line of scrimmage,
I'm gonna say you got something wrongwith you. Whoever said that was right,
Well, Appy State and then theyturned around and take take out the
h the other undefeated team with JMU. They had game day there and Appy
State does what Appy State does. The best come in and go yeah we're
here, yeah hello, and anovertime field goal was overcome by the Appy
(27:48):
State overtime touchdown. Uh. Buta great win on a on a big
stage and robbing JMU of their uhand I think they dropped that court.
They did. Ask this week's yeah, no loss, no real quick,
let's look at it. Toledo findsa way a twenty two to three Toledo
second half to come back and beattheir rival at Bowling Green thirty two to
(28:11):
thirty one. This huge rivalry winin crummy weather of that game too.
Yeah, I'm glad I wasn't sittingin the stands. We had Florida State
with the University of North Alabama. They win that game fifty eight thirteen,
but it's thirteen to nothing UNA,and then there's fifty eight unanswered points by
(28:32):
Florida State. Sickening, as we'vealready said with what we saw happened to
Jordan Travis that injury. So TateRoden Baker came in. He's got some
experience. He's not a freshman. He's been there a few years, so
he knows that system. Oklahoma anda doozy against BYU in that conference with
a thirty one twenty four win.Number fourteen. Oklahoma defense forces three turnovers
(28:56):
that lead to points and they alsolose Dylan Gabriel on this game, an
injury. I don't know if he'sback this week, and then the last
two I want to look at Paul. It's four forty three in the fourth
and Caleb Johnson runs for a touchdownto get Iowa to nine and two to
beat Illinois fifteen to thirteen. Takethe under as it still was in last
(29:21):
but not least number twenty U andc kind of got drilled by Clemson there
thirty one to twenty on the roadat Clemson. Un C's turnovers three and
Drake may only throws for under fiftypercent, which is surprise, but Clemson's
defense steps up and some late winsfor Clemson to kind of write the ship
maybe going into twenty twenty four.Yeah, we'll see what happens in the
(29:41):
next In the next week, let'stalk about these games coming up this week
in the Top ten Games of Weekthirteen. Rivalry Week, if you will.
Georgia at Georgia Tech. Coach GeorgiaTech has played much better in the
second half of the season, butthey can't touch Georgia, can they?
Seven thirty pm ABC SAD Saturday. We'll be watching number one Georgia twenty four
(30:02):
point favorite at Georgia Tech. Who'ssitting there at sixty five. Look,
Brent Key is really trying hard toget at what would be absolutely a surprise
seventh win. They've done a greatjob. The problem Haines King has thrown
fifteen picks on the year, andthis d they're getting ready to play is
nasty. It's a rivalry, butI don't see it happening. I get
(30:26):
it. How about the Apple Cup, Washington State going to Washington. That's
a huge game, but in thelast couple of weeks, Washington State has
played not good football four pm FoxSaturday, the surprisingly because of the fast
start for Jake Dickerds Cougars. They'reWashington State sitting at here. They need
this win to be Bowl eligible, sitting there at five and six at Washington
(30:49):
Who's at home to go twelve tozero. Washington's sitting there at home as
a sixteen and a half point favorite, average thirty three game points. Again,
Washington State does cam Ward has thrownfor almost thirty five hundred yards,
but Washington State has the ninety firstscore defense, giving up twenty nine points
(31:10):
a game to going to play therolling ball of Butcher knives the Washington Husky
offense, so they're going to haveto come through big to have a chance
at Washington. Yeah, so FloridaState Florida. Obviously that game has changed
tremendously since Travis's injury, but stillthat's a huge game. Both those teams
don't like each other. I gota hunch about this one. Yeah,
(31:30):
I hear you, man, No, I don't make predictions seven pm at
night at the Swamp. You gotFSU sitting there eleven and oh, Florida
has to win this game to getinto a bowl game, which would be
a huge deal, springboarding them withmaybe a Bowl win into twenty twenty four,
which Billy nape Here needs badly. If they can upset the six and
(31:52):
a half point favorite Florida State Seminals. But you got Tate roden Maker over
there taking over for and then you'vegot Max Brown that has taken over for
Florida with Graham Mertz getting knocked outlast week. FSUD gives up seventeen per
game, but the Gators give uptwenty seven. But again at the Swamp.
(32:12):
This could savor a season for theGators if they could pull this one
off. Yeah, I don't knowwhat you're doing Friday night, but I
know what I'm doing. Oregon Stateat Oregon. This one could be huge,
especially with Oregon States lost last week. We're not black Friday shopping Friday
Night. Okay, Now, eightthirty E Fox. You got number sixteen
Oregon State. Such a solid footballteam, a physical football team. They're
(32:37):
going to number six Oregon, who'sa thirteen and a half point favorite.
The over under at sixty two anda half. Look, Oregon State can
defend, but can they defend BoNixon company? Oregon State scores thirty six
per game, but Oregon scores fortysix. I love Oregon you know that.
I've talked about that for weeks now. But here's a little curveball for
(33:00):
you. The Oregon Ducks have notbeat a team that is still currently ranked
in the top twenty five. Wow, how about That's that's a that's a
stat I didn't know every team theybeat that was ranked is no longer ranked.
You throw Colorado in there, youthrow you Tall in there. I'm
(33:20):
missing a couple, but usc sothey have not beat who is still ranked.
If five years ago, I'd havetold you that Oregon State Oregon was
going to be bigger than the IronBowl. You would have laughed at me,
but it is. You might wantto take a nap. Alabama at
Auburn Saturday afternoon, but it's stillAlabama Auburn. You know this one.
This one hurts me because this isthe correct me. If I'm wrong,
(33:44):
you're a lot smarter than I am. But this three thirty CBS Saturday SEC
Game of the Week, this isthe last is correct, So last one
for the SEC on CBS. Soyou got number eight Alabama, who has
been trending the right way as afourteen and a half point favorite at Auburn,
who has trended the wrong way inthe last five days. Yes see
(34:07):
Iron Bowl tighter peaking, you freezeabsolutely, you can guarantee had his team's
fullest, those players' fullest attention thisweek. There's no doubt about it.
I just don't know. Peyton Thornand the Tigers have it in them again.
Sixty five yards rushing against New MexicoState and the defense they're facing this
week's a little bit better. TexasTech Red Raiders heading into Texas. I'm
(34:30):
sure Texas is a big favorite inthat game. Seven thirty ABC. We
got another Friday night game, TexasTech sitting there at six and five.
They are going bowling at number sevenTexas, who's got just that one loss
to Oklahoma. The Longhorns are atwelve and a half point favorite. Fifty
four and a half is the overunder. But you know, Texas Tech
(34:51):
was including me a preseason Darling forthe Big twelve. But they've won three
straight. They won at a rankedkansaslast week. They be the UCF team
that had just came off a bigvictory. Things have changed. I don't
know if you saw it. TylerShaw is entering the portal right, but
ever since they've entered Baron Morton atquarterback, things have changed for the Raider
(35:13):
Red Raiders. But everything's on theline for Texas and its fan base.
This team it's home. Are theyable to run the rock? But again,
their strength, I believe is they'rebetter than their opponent on both sides
of the line of scrimmage. Upfront, the administration at Arkansas said,
Sam Pittman's our guy. We youlove him, and he's gonna lead us
(35:35):
to victory this week when Missouri comesto town. I don't know, four
pm CBS Friday, A good goodtime to eat that turkey Sandwich. Paul.
Yeah, seven and a half pointfavorite, number nine, nine to
two. Missouri is at a fourand seven Arkansas. Yeah, Sam Pittman
announced to be back, and youwonder if that's going to bring some of
those players some energy. Also,it brings some players not as much as
(35:59):
it used to because of the portal. But hey, this guy's gonna be
our head coach again. I needto put something good on tape. But
no doubt again that Missouri, inmy opinion, is the third best team
in the SEC. But it's ashort week on the road in the SEC,
so we'll see if Arkansas can pullone off. The Cats and the
Cards don't like each other. Andhere we have Kentucky going to Louisville with
(36:20):
an opportunity for Kentucky to really shockthe world. For lack of a better
term, Yeah, noon Saturday,ABC. I'd say people probably may be
watching another game or another channel atnoon. Yeah yeah, unless you're a
diehard Cat or a Cardinal fan.But last week only fourteen points in their
loss to South Carolina. This isa in state rivalry and could get a
(36:43):
very disappointing season well quickly for theKentucky Wildcats because it has been a disappointment,
but Louisville can run it. They'rea seven point favorite at home in
this game. But UK only givesup one hundred and nine game one hundred
nine yards a game on the grondThis is the strength of their football team.
But Louisville defense, they've been gettingthe advantage and special team and there's
(37:06):
one of the best play callers infootball and Jeff Brown on the Louisville sideline.
Yeah, a lot of other greatgames. Of course, the egg
Bowl on Thanksgiving Night, looking forwardto that a little different because Mississippi State's
got some serious issues at they're headcoaching position. But still, what are
some of the games you're interested inthis weekend? Yeah, I mean the
seven thirty pm egg Bowl that givesus that Thursday night college game after we
(37:29):
get pro games all day. JacksonDart is returning next year to Ole Miss.
That was announced of But I'm fromfurther south than most people here in
Ohio. Yeah, these fan baseshate each other Ole Miss and Mississippi State.
I mean it is a deep hatred. Ole Miss is a ten point
favorite, trying to get to theirtenth win rank there at twelfth at Mississippi
(37:52):
State who's trying to get to theirsixth win. Will Rodgers is back playing,
said it didn't no matter how badhe was hurting, he was not
going to miss this game. Andby the way, this is Greg Knock's
second time as the interim head coaches. He replaced the great Mike Leach last
year. In the Bowl Game, real quick, noon Friday, number seventeen,
Iowa at Nebraska, who's trying toget to that sixth win? Uh,
(38:15):
Nebraska is a two and a halfpoint favorite. Now I saw that.
Yeah, a little bit surprising. The nine and two Iowa was as
dogs to the five and six NebraskaCornhuskers. Twenty six and a half is
the over. Under'll take the under. The weekly rule, take the under.
We haven't been wrong on that.By the way, No, no,
if I haven't put a dime onit with every well because as we
(38:37):
do, it'll go the other one. Yeah, noon Saturday on ESPN.
Probably not many people watching this oneunless you're an SEC fan seven and four
A and M at LSU eight andthree, eleven and a half point favorites.
There in Death Valley sixty six anda half, you have LSU,
who I still think is the numberone scoring offense in college football, and
it looks like who has the slightlead there Jaden Daniels, which honestly I
(39:01):
probably agree with for the Heisman rightnow. Big ten Network three thirty six
and two, Maryland at our sixand five, Maryland at six and five
Rutgers, both of these teams absolutelythought before the season they have this circled
as a probable win or hopeful win, and one of them is going to
be at six and six, one'sgoing to get a seventh win, and
(39:21):
then the last two pall ACC Networkeight PM. Still, I think un
C's got the best player in thegame on the field with Drake May,
but he struggled last week. NorthCarolina is a two and a half point
favorite at an eight and three nC State, both of them going for
a ninth win. But I willtell you NC State has trended upwards the
last They have won five of theirlast six games. They're playing better on
(39:43):
offense, they always play well ondefense and special teams. So I actually
like the home team in that oneand last, but not at least This
is high school football's semi final. The winners here in Ohio this week get
to go play for a state title, which obviously is it's pretty freaking cool.
And there'll be plenty of those gameson this weekend as well, if
you've got spectrum spectrums covering all thosegames, and you can stream them through
(40:07):
the OHSAA dot org app if youwant to. We didn't talk about this,
but I do want to throw itout there because I've heard so many
coaches this week say there is agigantic difference between six and six and seven
and five. What is that difference. It's one game, one touchdown,
one point, one kick. Butit's huge to a college football coach to
(40:28):
be seven and five and not sixand six. It should be a huge
deal to any coach because you getto say this, we had a winning
season. We had a winning season, and if you go six and six
and then you go play a bowlgame and get beat, you had a
losing season, just to say, hey, building into next week. Fan
base, especially unless they're nuts likesome of the blue blood fans, we
(40:51):
had a winning season and Rutgers andMaryland traditionally have not had a lot of
winning seasons. Absolutely, absolutely,it should be a fun game if you're
interested in watching that one coach thebest part of the program. I want
to know who won the day.I know some semi finalists song interested to
hear if you connect with some ofthe ones. I'm thinking because you've already
talked about one. Well, here'sthe first one. I got to stick
(41:14):
with my man Alex my Son,he said Dad, Cleveland Brown fans,
and and kicker Dustin Hopkins. Hesays, Dad, he deserves a key
to the city. But if that'sthe case, so does Jim Schwartz and
Miles Garrett. There Jason Kelsey thefirst win against younger brother Travis Kelsey is
(41:36):
the Eagles beat the Chiefs, whichwas pretty cool. He was runner up
to the sexiest man I did say. I heard that they were talking about
it on sports radio. Uh.Steeler players and fans are pretty happy for
the win the day because they saidgoodbye to Matt Canada, which which I
know some Steeler fans. One ofthem works in my office and he came
(41:58):
in in celebratory when it was anouts. No question when you get paid
one point eight million to go whipsomebody in their home stadium to get to
nine and in three Yeah, atNew Mexico State Jerry Kill, you are
absolutely a nominated for when the dayUniversity Washington football program again best resume in
(42:21):
college football to be eleven. Oh, and found another way to win this
one almost wonted Bo Nicks six firsthalf touchdown, six first half touchdowns.
That's unbelievable to me. The lastrunner up, it's a threesome. It's
Burry Otam at UNLV, It's Jedfishat Arizona, and it is David Brown
(42:45):
at Northwestern. Those guys have donea phenomenal job with those programs and what
they've done. I mean I lookedat northwesterns before. I mean, no
one's wanted you UNLV. Right, and listen, they missed Barry odem as
an assistant at you know, hewas the head coach at Missouri. Then
he went to be an assistant acoordinator for Sam Pittman in Arkansas. He's
(43:06):
getting the next chance. The guycan obviously coach. But if somebody said
Northwestern's gonna win possibly six games, when one hundred and some days ago they
lost their head coach that has beenan icon at that school. And this
guy is that has never been atNorthwestern until this year, and they're building
like an eight hundred million dollars stadiumcomplex. I mean, Northwestern's throwing the
(43:29):
nickels behind. Win football game, and you can go and get a pretty
good degree. But last, obviouslynot least, this week's winter Dan Campbell
and the Detroit Lions. Dan Campbelland the Detroit they are eight and two.
I was trying to think back, when was the last time. I
(43:51):
mean, you're sitting there because it'sfootball, and you're thinking, I got
to watch the Lions on Thanksgiving. They haven't been relevant maybe but years in
their early nineties. Yeah, andyou're thinking, but that man, and
what that staff and that team sittingthere at eight and two, this is
their best record at this point sinceJFK was in the White House in nineteen
(44:14):
sixty two. That is unbelievable. And the last time they won the division,
which right now they're clearly in thelead to win that division, was
nineteen ninety three. So it's beendecades since they've been an eight and two.
It's been three decades since they've beensitting there first and have won that
division. So and Dan Campbell hasdone one heck of a job. When
(44:34):
you watch him, he's a coachescoach, man, he's managing the game.
Right, there's another one. Puthim on the list. Yeah,
I enjoy that game tomorrow. Itshould be a good one. I'm looking
forward to that one myself with abig old turkey leg in my hand.
But yeah, I was like gottto be New Mexico State. Man.
I just and who would have thoughtcoming into the game that Michigan would have
a quality win with UNLV, Becausenow they do. That's true, they
(44:58):
have a quality win with you.Now if they consider Rutgers a quality win,
they have to consider you in LVequality win. There's no they have
to. That's true. I missedthat one. Yeah, they absolutely have
to. I mean that's that's gonnaup their resume. It's not gonna mean
anything because it's all gonna wash itsway out, which is what we're going
to talk about. The game isSaturday, the big noon kickoff in the
(45:19):
Big House that's stayed up North.I have some questions and then I'm gonna
let you do your thing. Myfirst question is, no, Jim Harbaugh,
what does that mean to the game? Fox Big Noon? The game,
Paul and I will be out Christmasshopping. Yeah, yeah, no,
no, no, we won't numbertwo Ohio State goes to the Big
(45:42):
House, number three ranked Michigan, who is sitting there as of today.
They started at a four, thenit went to three and a half,
and today the home field three, they have the advantage. So to me,
it's even steven which forty six anda half over under. Okay,
we're gonna get back to that becauseI I've got I had thoughts on that
time. I went to watch thelast fifteen years of scores because it's been
(46:04):
score fast a lot. Yeah,so your question, Paul, no Jimmy,
no Jim Harball on the sideline. To me, it absolutely matters,
Absolutely matters, and I've seen itthe last two weeks with game management issues.
I've seen Macarthy get frustrated because callsare getting in late, so they've
(46:27):
had to waste timeouts when you don'twant to waste timeouts because you may need
those timeouts. It's your leader,The focal point is right there in front
of me. That's our head coach, that's our leader. People the majority
hate Jim Harball, but let metell you this, his players and that
(46:47):
coaching staff they love him. Now. I can't speak for all staff members,
but I can tell you. Thoseplayers love Jim Harball, There's no
doubt about it. And I thinkI have a hunch he's a little bit
in the head of Ryan Day.Now, I think it's better for Ryan
Day to beat Michigan with Jim Harballon the sideline. But I mean,
Jim's just got a way to getunder get under people's skin the stories of
(47:14):
things that he does. But look, the guy has won everywhere he's been.
I think the first week, especiallythe way it went down with Penn
State, the men told which wasa screw job on a flight. Uh,
that's how they find out getting offthe plane. I knew right then
it galvanized that was going to galvanizethose guys. Now last week it looked
(47:34):
like him not being there and allthe drama that fired linebacker, coach,
everything's going on. I think it'sbecome a distraction. But no, I
would feel better about Michigan with JimHarball on that sideline than without him.
My question number two, why hasn'tMichigan thrown the football in the last two
games? I mean, are areI don't know, I mean, I'm
(47:57):
just it is it gamesman? Dothey not have anybody on the perimeter to
catch the ball. What's going on? They can't win that game without a
passing game, correct, more thanlikely. I mean, they're gonna have
to throw the ball. And theone thing is, though, people and
even me driving over here, Isee you know what, I didn't give
that that much credit. McCarthy's legscould be a difference in the game because
(48:19):
he can extend plays better than McCordcan, and that's the biggest headache for
defenses that a quarterback then can dothat. But here's the deal. The
biggest separation of talent in this game, in my opinion, is the High
State offensive perimeter compared to Michigan's perimeter. A lot of that has to do
with Marvin Harrison junior understood, butRoman, Wilson, Cornelius, Johnson,
(48:44):
tight End Coast, and Loveland arecapable and this matters too. You don't
see a lot of head coaches thatare former offensive line coaches. You don't
see a lot of offensive coordinators thatare offensive line coaches, because most offensive
or offensive line coaches don't see thebig picture. They live in that most
(49:06):
important box. And that's one ofmy opinion, the three biggest jobs on
a coaching staff in order are maybeoffensive line first, and then you're looking
at secondary quarterback. Those are yourthree most important position HighRes. No coach
would argue with me on that, but you know, Sharon Moore's an offensive
line coach, and offensive line coacheslike to run the rock and impose their
(49:29):
will. And the strength of thatfootball team is that offensive line. But
it matches their style of play. But you know, I thought the same
thing, Paul. In the lasttwo weeks, it hasn't been And maybe
because Jim Harbaugh is not on theHe loves McCarthy absolutely. I mean,
that's been his guy. The thingshe says about him two things, and
(49:50):
one of them may be fantasy Land, but one for perspective. JJ McCarthy
for the season has thrown for twentyfour hundred yards, completed seventy four percent,
which is phenomenal, and he hasthrown eighteen touchdowns to just his four
picks on the year. So he'sdone all right. Now, it wasn't
against a Penn State and the Marylandthat showed up defensively last week. Is
(50:15):
there anything to this conspiracy? Thelast two weeks, there's been no mister
Stallions on the sideline either yep.And it makes you curious, is has
there been a drop in play becausethere's less intelligence before the ball snapped of
maybe what I'm probably getting defensively, you have to ask that question with all
the stuff that's been going on,no question, you have to. So
(50:36):
what do you think is the biggestweakness for Ohio State and the biggest weakness
for Michigan And do those teams havethe ability to exploit that in their advantage?
Yeah, and I'm gonna share somethings that I think is gonna blow
your mind right ahead. You know, just a quick answer. I've been
concerned about the special teams of OhioState all year, and you hope it
(50:58):
doesn't finally bite them in the butt. I think Michigan's biggest I Suig just
said they're capable, but I thinkthe place where they're the least explosive is
the perimeter at wide receiver. Butagain, uh, In fact, Wilson
did played last week. He wasin street clothes. So those two things
are the first thing that I wouldsay. Obviously the home field advantage,
(51:23):
that mean that could be a bigdeal from a cord, but he's handled
himself. He's done fine. AtNotre Dame and on the road this year.
So you've got the second number twoscore defense in the country is the
High State buck Eyes at nine pointtwenty seven, and just in front of
them is the Michigan Wolverines at ninepoint zero per game given up. But
when we look at this Paul Rushdefense, the Buckeyes are nineteenth in the
(51:50):
country given one eight up a game. Michigan is eighth giving up ninety.
The Ohio State Buckeyes, which justsurprised me, is eighty fourth out of
one thirty three rushing the football atone forty five a game. The Michigan
Wolverines are forty ninth at one seventyone. Why do I start off there,
(52:13):
because this year I had to gomake sure what I was looking at
was right, because I'm thinking, there's no way the last twenty one Ohio
State Michigan games, the last twentyone in a row, the team with
the most rushing yards has won thegame. There you go, and I
couldn't believe that because I went. You think about all the quarterbacks, the
blowouts. I mean, you're thinkingthat's but that's the truth, so real
(52:37):
quick. You know, I alwaystalk about turnovers, red zone, third
down explosion plays. So the turnoversgained Buckeyes are one eleventh to Michigan's twenty
fourth in the country. We've talkedabout not enough takeaways the turnover margin,
which is worrisome for if I'm aBuckeye fan. The Buckeyes are fiftieth,
the Wolverines are third. You lookat red zone, red zone offense,
(53:00):
the Buckeyes are sixtieth. Touchdown tofield goal ratio. You got to score
touchdowns down there. The Wolverines areforty eighth. Two to one. Red
zone defense, the Buckeyes are eighth, the Wolverines are third. Then we
load to third down, which hasbeen a little bit of concern early on
in the year for the Buckeyes.Third down offense, the Buckeyes have gotten
(53:21):
better. Their twentieth, but theWolverines are fourth. Then I look at
their defense. The Wolverine defense isfourteenth. The Buckeyes have their first advantage
in every stat I've read you. This is the first one they've had an
advantage their eighth and third down defenseexplosives. This one surprised me too.
Pass yards per completion explosion plays, the Buckeyes are twenty second in the country,
(53:46):
averaging thirteen point seventy five. Eventhough they're at thirty seventh, the
Wolverines are right there at thirteen yardsas well as pass yards per completion last
one, I'm giving you yards perrush almost dead even The Buckeyes average four
point three to three, but they'veplayed a lot of games without a certain
(54:06):
player that's back. Michigan average isfour point four eight, which is just
a tick more then you throw intheir special teams in the home field.
So what does that bring me to? The key to this football game is
the guy that has changed the rushingattack of the Buckeyes. We saw it
his first year. We didn't seeit last year because he didn't play,
and we've missed him when he wasn'tin there this season. But Traveon Henderson
(54:30):
is the joker in the deck.He can make you miss. He can
make a play that's not blocked wellagainst a good defense and still make a
positive play or a home run.And we will urban Meral say this Saturday,
take it to the bank. Biggames are won at the line of
scrimmage. And if we would haveplayed that game early on, the Buckeyes
(54:51):
were to see a severe disadvantage, but that offensive line has improved. Michigan
is beat up up front. Theleft tackle that went in late in that
game had some serious struggles, andI think the Buckeyes, especially we saw
how Jack Sawyer played last week, could get after Michigan. If their edge
(55:13):
guys play that way offensively, Ithink the Buckeyes can get after him.
So Travon Henderson, the line ofscrimmage, the last things that have nothing
to do with football, Paul, the storylines in this game, the game,
the hatred, the Shenanigans with hardballstallions, firing of coaches. I
(55:36):
mean, it has been a threering circus. But the person that has
the most pressure, unfortunately, onSaturday at noon is the head football coach
of the Ohio State Buckeyes, RyanDay. He has the best winning percentage
in the history of Ohio State football. And if he goes to Michigan and
(55:58):
loses three straight after the performance thatBuckeye fans saw from Jim Tressel and Urban
Meyer seven and zero record against them, if he goes zero to three with
an interim head football coach on theother side, line, it is gonna
hurt. And that's why we've seenunhappy Ryan Day. In my opinion,
the entire season, it all comesdown to about three and a half hours
(56:22):
on Saturday at the Big House. This is the biggest game in Ryan Day's
career, Ain't no question about it. He's got to go up there and
get the monkey off his back. And that's why I'm going to leave it
with this. You have to peekat the right time, and in my
opinion, the Scarlet and Gray arepeeking at the right time. And that's
(56:44):
why Ernie Adams told me on theway over here. I said, look,
you ain't getting out of this. You are betting your home. You
two daughters and wife are homeless.Take all of your emotion out of it.
I hope you don't lose your house. But he takes the Buckeyes.
He thinks the same thing that Ido. I think the buck Eyes are
(57:04):
playing their best ball. I thinkMcCord's on a roll, and you have
the best receiver in the game, and you absolutely now as good as Blake
Korm is. Blake korm is notas explosive as Travion Henderson, and he's
if he can come out and playlike they've done the last two weeks.
The Buck guys get their win fortheir head football coach. I agree Ryan
(57:24):
Day. I've been part of threeof the interviews that he's done this week
and shows he acts different, theplayers act and feel different. There's just
something different right now going on withthat team. I think they know they're
playing their best football this season.I think they believe it. I think
they believe they have the joker inthe deck in Traveon Henderson. I think
(57:47):
they. I really feel like rightnow that Buckeye team feels like we have
to go to Michigan and win thisgame. And I told you, I
think there's a little bit of thatAiden hutchinsid deal in there where he said
we just got tired of losing andwe had to win the game. These
guys have never beaten them. Theyreally haven't. Twenty nineteen, there was
only a handful of players on thesquad. Now that we're around in twenty
(58:09):
nineteen, no game in twenty twenty. You lose in twenty one, you're
lose in twenty two. The guyswant to pair gold pants. They don't
want to be known as the teamthat didn't beat Michigan. I mean,
I think there's a lot going onso I agree with you. I think
throw it all out. They're goingto play football. These are two of
the best teams in the country. They're undefeated, but right now I think
(58:30):
Ohio State is way hungrier than Michigan. But we'll see if he plays out.
These games before been called the gameof the century. Yeah, but
never have I in my lifetime seenso much drama, soap opera, pressure,
hatred. I mean, Buckeye fanshate Michigan more today than they ever
(58:52):
did because they think that hardball's beencheating. Yeah, I mean, he's
Darth Vader over there, man,and it will be I would not bet
on this game, but if somebodysaid a gun to my head, I
just think at this time this isthe biggest game and the the distractions that
(59:13):
Michigan has had to put up withwithout their leader on the sideline. What
this game means to Ryan Day.Travon Henderson playing the way he has been,
Marvin Harrison can change the game atany second. I just have a
feeling that if if they take careof business, don't turn it over,
the Buckeyes get their their win fortheir coach. One last thing, do
not forget Ryan Day has two newsupervisors in his world. He's got a
(59:37):
new he's got a brand new president, he's got brand new ad That's true.
It's that's huge. It is veryimportant. The two guys that maybe
have protected him, or two peoplethat have protected him, they're gone.
It's it's all new, real suit. So we'll see what happens. But
it's gonna be huge. Yeah,it's funny you say that because coaches always
(59:59):
said when you get a new adR president, they're gonna go get their
guys. Yeah, yeah, nevercrazy, but never know. Hey,
Paul, let's enjoy the game.Man. I'm gonna enjoy a lot of
games. I'm definitely gonna enjoy thisgame. And I'm gonna enjoy a lot
of food and family and bless uhAnd I'm blessed with your friendship. So
