Episode Summary:

JetBlue’s New Program Will Pay You If It Rains on Your Vacation
JetBlue has teamed up with a start-up called WeatherPromise to offer a new travel insurance-style program that reimburses travelers if they experience "excessive rain" on their vacation. To qualify, you have to book an eligible flight and hotel package through JetBlue Vacations and pay an added fee for coverage. The cost varies, but one example showed an 11-day trip to Punta Cana with coverage costing $111, with up to $2,500 in reimbursement if it rained for at least three days. However, "excessive rain" isn’t just a sprinkle—WeatherPromise uses A.I. and radar technology to define rain thresholds, making it a bit of a gamble. It’s essentially a way to make people feel more comfortable booking trips during risky weather seasons.

Couples Are Turning Costco Runs Into Date Nights
Forget candlelit dinners and movie nights—some couples are embracing the romance of bulk shopping at Costco. Social media users are raving about Costco date nights, where they stroll the aisles, fill up their carts, and finish it all off with a meal at the legendary Costco food court. One Redditor shared, “Never in my life did I imagine that I would get so giddy over going shopping with the hubs.” With inflation on the rise and people looking for more affordable ways to spend time together, it looks like dinner and dancing might be getting replaced by $1.50 hot dog combos and free samples.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's time for ninas. What's trending?

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (00:02):
So Jet Blue has this new program where they're trying
to reimburse their travelers if it rains on your vacation.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
They're calling it the Weather Promise.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
I'm gonna know all the details of it, because I'm
sure there's so many blackout things on that well do well.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
I'm glad you asked, because I have them. But first
you have to book your vacation through them, through the
Jet Blue Whole Vacation, the.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Whole vacation light Yeah, flight and hotel packages have to
be booked through Jet Blue Vacation.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
It is, and you'll know if you're covered on your
trip because you pay for it kind of like a shirt.
The fee is one one hundred and eleven dollars. So
like if you go for eleven day trip to Puntakana
and the Dominican Republic, the pay for it Weather Promise
is one hundred and eleven dollars. But if it does
end up braining on your trip for a minimum of

(00:52):
three days, then you'll get twenty five hundred dollars.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Dominican's not a bad idea to do that, though, because
I'm sure they have tropical rain, right, a lot of places,
but they do they count tropical rain as rain.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
They know they see they said that a little rain
doesn't count. It has to be an excessive rain for
three straight days, right, which is a little bit vague.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
Oh so if it storms basically says a minimum of
three days.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
Minimum of three But they say that they use AI
satellite imagery, weather stations and radars to provide a custom
made excessive rain.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Threshold for these trips.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
So not only is it like you're word there watching
you like where you are to see if it gets
paid out, but honestly, it's kind of worth it. One
hundred and eleven days. You know you're going during a
hurricane season or something like that. Well, I guess that
was not going to count either though.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
No, because they probably know it's probably not available hurricane
places are in a hurricane season.

Speaker 5 (01:45):
So use that software that they used to track you
and use it to your advantage to figure out when
to go.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Right, Yeah, you can't be a storm chaser, it's not
going to work that way. Door save one.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
Hundred and eleven dollars and just go at a time
there's not going to be storms.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
Right, there are plenty of people who probably will invested
that dot. I can't tell you many vacations I've been
on with somebody and it rains for a day and
their whole vacation is ruined.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
What I kind of like it when they just.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Wake up angry because it's supposed to be sunny, or
like two weeks before you leave. Yes, there's a lot
of there's a lot of stuff with what I'm saying here, Yeah,
a lot of underlying stuff. But two weeks before you leave,
they're constantly checking the weather, going it's supposed to be
cloudy three of the five days, and you're like, just
it's not even close yet.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
It's like Hawai.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
It lots of winds whipped through there, could blow the
clouds out. You don't know that it's gonna suck yet
a lot of time wait till we get there to
see if it's gonna suck last the whole day. Right,
So either way, I mean, I've been on vacation when
people who have been angry that there are birds chirping,
So there's really no way to please this.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
That's a different type of rebursement. I don't know what
that's all about.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
People over there won't stop playing their music so loud.
They're probably playing it loud because those birds won't stop chirping.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
That was a little thing.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
I was like, I don't, I don't. They probably just
having fun, you know, what you needed to do, and
they're probably enjoying themselves over there.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
I'm not worried about the birds at all.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
You needed to take them on the trending date night
that everybody's doing right now.

Speaker 5 (03:14):
Work.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
It doesn't cost any money. You can't go wrong unless
there's too many people there. But that's those Costco date nights.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
What yeah, Costco date nights.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Costco date nights have turned into a trending way for
couples to spend time together. People are saying that they
actually get excited shopping with their partner or just walking
through the aisles tasting all the little testers.

Speaker 5 (03:32):
You know, absolutely not that the Costco in general gives
me too much anxiety. I can't imagine taking like a
partner also and being like no, no, no, no, come back here,
we're going to this aisle.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
I love it Costco and like Ikia because you go
and it's like kind of like if you like with
the person for real, for real yet or like you're
not married, you're going you're kind of playing house and
it's kind of like a fun little thing, and.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
And that you worry.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
And then you learn about the stuff that like their quirks,
whether you like them or not.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
You find a lot of red flags doing that. There's
what this person would learn about me. Stores All of
them give me all the anxiety. I don't want to
be inside of them. They freak me out because mostly
people are stupid. Number two, Ikea is a literal maze prison.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
If you can't get out of it, you can't get
out of it.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
You have to follow the smell of the meatballs, and
you have to take too many left turns.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
It scares the crap out of me.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
I'll wait at the end.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
Okay, So if you're dating Brad, that's a no. But
for everybody else it's an option. That is what's trending,
all right.
