Sharktapus? Nope—Just an Octopus Riding a Shark

Social media is buzzing about Sharktapus this morning, but it’s not some terrifying new hybrid species. Instead, it’s an octopus casually riding on the back of a shark.

Researchers from the University of Auckland spotted the unusual duo off the coast of New Zealand’s Kawau Island in December 2023. But it wasn’t until biologist Professor Rochelle Constantine published an article last week that public interest exploded. The footage has since gone viral, leaving people both fascinated and amused.

Loyalty Testing Services Are on the Rise

If you feel the need to “test” your partner’s loyalty, there’s now a whole industry for that. Services like Loyalty-Test.com are helping suspicious partners find out if their significant other is faithful—or not.

Customers pick a package, and a hired “tester” slides into their partner’s DMs to see if they take the bait. About 20% fail, and most clients are women. But let’s be real—if you’re paying someone to test your partner, the trust might already be broken.

Instacart’s New Feature Helps Find Out-of-Stock Items

Ever been frustrated when an Instacart shopper says your must-have item is out of stock? The grocery delivery service is rolling out Second Store Check, a feature that recruits a second shopper to find missing items at a different store.

If your original shopper can’t find an item, another worker at a nearby location gets an automatic prompt to check their store. The goal? To eliminate those annoying out-of-stock moments and keep your fridge stocked exactly how you want it.

It only takes three minutes to get everything you need

(00:01):
to know for the day with Nina's What's trending?

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Shark to Pus is trending this morning.

Speaker 3 (00:05):
The what shark to.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Puss could see the name of a movie, but it's not.
It would be a platypus that's also part shark.

Speaker 4 (00:12):
I think it was the name of one of my exes,
a platypus.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
It's not. I was thinking octopus, but a platypus shark.

Speaker 5 (00:19):
Would be hilarious looking, just like a hammerhead.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Platypuses are also plato pie whatever you call them. They're
already weird creatures.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
Mix it with the shark.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Yeah, that's weird. I would love to see that. That's great,
a little duck bill on a shark.

Speaker 5 (00:37):
Whatever you're picturing right now. It is not a new
breed of animal. Actually, And a funny part about this
is that it was discovered back in December of twenty
twenty three, but just became viral last week because there
has been an article written by a biologist professor all
about the shark to Puss, which is actually just an
octopus getting a ride on a shark.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
What is up with octopus?

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Why they're going crazy.

Speaker 5 (01:03):
If you look it up though, there are pictures where
they combined a shark and an octopus and it is nuts.
There was a movie I think that they had made,
and I don't know which movie it was, but there
was a movie where they had created that animal and
so the shark to pus. So that's kind of why
it's even trending more because when they saw the octopus
literally riding on a.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Shark, it became this like whole boom because.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
I never could that happen. I never realized how wild
octopus stoked were.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
There's news stories of chucking checking shells and swimmers.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
They're getting in fist fights with each other, and now
they're writing getting like they're wrangling sharks.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
God, I hope they stay in the water, for it
makes me.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Never want to eat them again.

Speaker 5 (01:54):
Yeah, I really enjoy eating them, but I think I
can't do that anymore.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
District nine down there was.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
Check just doing their thing.

Speaker 5 (02:10):
Well, there's other people out here doing their things, and
we talk about ways of making money all the.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Time, and here's one. You could be a loyalty tester.

Speaker 5 (02:17):
So loyalty tests and loyalty testers are trending because it's
a new company that has created people to help you
test the loyalty in your relationship. People are paying for this. Meanwhile,
you can come to us for free and we can
do to catch cheater. Either way, you want to.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Do whatever you want to do, but it is what
you think it is.

Speaker 5 (02:38):
These people go to the loyalty testers and they pick
the package that they want, and then the tester makes
their move on your person and tries the package that
they want and sees how that plays out and not nuts.
I just feel like, I feel like if you have
okay weirdos, I just think if you have to do this,

(03:00):
you shouldn't be.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
In your situation.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
Yeah, probably not.

Speaker 5 (03:03):
And also you can find some random girl that would
do that for you for free because girl code.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
You know, yeah, you have a don't steal them. You
can't be trusting your.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Friends like that.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
Far do you want me to go with the loyalty test?
Your bedroom is kind of hot all the way, that's
not your friend. How much footage am I allowed to
put on my os? Oh my god?

Speaker 2 (03:29):
Well there you have it.

Speaker 5 (03:30):
There's definitely options there. And lastly, have you guys ever
used Instacart?

Speaker 3 (03:36):
Yes?

Speaker 5 (03:36):
Yeah, me too. When I lived like in the heart
of the city. Instacart was my shopper, so it's like
how you were I was for I think like two weeks.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
So if you if your unfamiliar instacart ish, I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
I'm just imagining Victoria walk at through a store. This
is the person that I got that one time.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
That's like, get on a substitute meat for eggs, now, lady, substitutions.

Speaker 5 (04:05):
I would always get like parsley inside of cilantro and
like cucumbers instead of zekida.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
But they didn't have waffles, so I got you some
grape nuts. That doesn't make any sense.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
You're talking about.

Speaker 5 (04:17):
The substitutions, because this is where the story is going.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
It is good.

Speaker 5 (04:22):
The substitutions have been so bad that instacart has come
up with the new plan to help you with the substitutions,
and that is that there will be a second store check,
so the instacart person will be able to communicate with
somebody else at another store and then they can check
to see if there's a better substitution.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
All that.

Speaker 5 (04:40):
I mean, I'm not either, but that's what their plan
is to help make this better.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
So silly this is so silly.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
Did the store's not like scar something like they scan
everything in the store, knows exactly what's in that store.
Why can't they just why can't Instacart in the store
get together, tap into the system and just be like,
it's not there.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
You can't order that.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
Maybe they don't like it. I don't know why it
doesn't hurt them, huh.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (05:05):
Anyway, it just sounds really difficult. It just sounded like
too much work and not necessary. And that's why it's trending.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
So I went to the fish store and brought you
a goldfish.

Speaker 5 (05:17):
I didn't have their out of tator to you.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
That's what's trending.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
You want to run a place in other orders, I
can go get a bolt and put them in and
stuff like fish supplies
