New Dating App Hides Faces for 72 Hours to Encourage Real Connections

Dating apps have made finding love (or at least a first date) as simple as swiping—but many people are frustrated with the shallow, appearance-based system. Enter Tribal, a new app developed by clinical psychologist Rachel Harker, which delays the reveal of users' faces for 72 hours to prioritize personality over looks.

Here’s how it works:

  • Users answer 44 questions for dating (33 for friendships) to be matched based on values, interests, and communication styles.

  • Profile photos stay blurred for three days.

  • A voice memo feature lets matches hear each other before seeing each other.

The idea? Deep connections last—so get to know the person before their profile pic.

Woman With the World's Longest Tongue Can Play Jenga With It

Chanel Tapper has held the Guinness World Record for the longest tongue (female) since 2010, and she’s using her 3.8-inch mouth muscle for more than just talking.

She’s gone viral for showcasing tricks like:

  • Removing Jenga blocks with her tongue.

  • Flipping plastic cups.

  • Holding a spoon—just by licking it.

Her favorite reactions? People screaming in shock or horror. She loves the over-the-top responses. And yes, her tongue has landed her commercial deals and event appearances.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's time for Nina's what's trending.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
There's a new dating app attracting attention, And this one
is different than the other ones because you don't actually
get to see the people.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
They say that about everyone and I have to do
it all the same.

Speaker 4 (00:11):
This one is different though.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
This one was created by a clinical psychologists who wanted
people to focus on not so much what people look like,
but the other connection, which actually in theory. In theory,
I like that too, because when you're swiping, you know,
you're being shallow if you're attracted to somebody or not
just based on the picture. Some people take horrible pictures,
and so it's not fair.

Speaker 5 (00:30):
I get that.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
But that's also how people are attracted to people in
real life too. You know, like if you see someone
out at a bar, you're not going to be like, well,
they are very unfortunate looking, but I wonder if they
have a good personality, I'm going to talk to them.
I mean, you can strack up a conversational actually and
go like, you know what, they're hot, their personality is hot.
But people because people rip people all the time for
social media for looking at how people look, But that's

(00:51):
how you do it.

Speaker 4 (00:51):
When you're out. It is true.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
But there's also some times, like if somebody is walking,
maybe I didn't see their face, but they've got this
walk that I find attractive.

Speaker 4 (00:58):
I'm looking at.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
You maybe anerisms, right, I know, But it's more than
just that picture. That picture doesn't necessarily do somebody justice.

Speaker 5 (01:05):
You're just not going to walk across the room to
talk to a personality because you don't know what it is.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
I get that, Yeah, I get that.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Yeah, but in this let me tell you about the
app that I did not create, but I find.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
Interesting you and I'm just I'm talking about the psychologist
who made it.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
I'm like, you know, it's called tribal.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
So the idea is that everybody goes through and answers
forty four questions and.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Then it's called tribal. This is by a psychologists and
it's called tribal. The most tribal thing in the world
would be like not caring about the personality.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
Yeah, also forty four questions bye bye, you're.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
From the same area as me and you not related?

Speaker 5 (01:39):
We date?

Speaker 4 (01:41):
That was how it would happen back in the tribal date.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Okay, but there's more So you answer these questions and
then they start to filter the people through that at
that point, right, and then you get to see like
how they answered certain questions, and then you can hear
their voice.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
There's voice memos.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
And then after seventy two hours of matching with these individuals,
then you can see their face. Their face is hidden
for seventy two hours.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
So does that mean they will match you to who
they think you will like or you get to go
through and look at their answers.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
They'll give you the people that they think that you
would be most likely matched with. The Thing that sucks
about this is that after the seventy two hours that
these people start to disappear, then you know, you're like,
they think I'm ugly.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
It's another good point.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
Good job psychologists over the place to help.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
Confidence carey much to get all that decline.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
That's a good point. Wow, my personality is not even
good enough.

Speaker 5 (02:41):
Because let's be honest, most people don't have one. They
borrow their personality from the internet. Right, So in the
real world, oh my god, that's so sad.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Getting a lot of attentions. So just be safe out there.
It is wild in the streets. Trying to find a
good date Anyway, if you do have maybe I don't know,
like a special hit in talent, you should showcase that
on some of those apps like this one Woman's this
one woman specifically, she has held the Guinness World Record
for the longest tongue since twenty ten. But now we're

(03:12):
talking about her again because she's showing people what she
can do with that tongue.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
She plays Jenga with her tongue.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
I don't know if I'd want to play Jenga with
someone who has her tongue all over the agenga. I'm
more of a hand.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
She holds a spoon with her tongue. I mean, this
stuff's been crazy. So if you did do that, then
second you.

Speaker 4 (03:33):
Can hold a spoon.

Speaker 5 (03:34):
Could you use a spoon?

Speaker 4 (03:35):
And then like no hand soup? Probably no hand soup.
That's dope. That's pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
I feel like I can just picture her feeding somebody
else with her tongue on spoon.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
Is not as visual I wanted. That's one I wanted.
You're welcome and that's so that's some good spot. Cho
I really like the spot
