Amazon Makes a Last-Minute Bid for TikTok

As the U.S. prepares to ban TikTok over national security concerns, Amazon has jumped into the mix with a late bid to buy the platform. The offer was reportedly presented to Vice President JD Vance and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, as President Trump awaits a deal before Saturday’s deadline. Other major players, including Oracle, Blackstone, and several investment groups, are also in the running. Meanwhile, Perplexity AI has suggested a new approach—rebuilding TikTok’s algorithm to meet U.S. privacy standards. With time running out, will Amazon come out on top?

First-Grader Asks Classmate to Be His Girlfriend with a Diamond Ring

Young love took an expensive turn when a first-grader gifted his crush a real diamond ring to win her over. Allie Phillips shared the hilarious moment on TikTok after her daughter came home with the jewelry, announcing she had a new boyfriend. The boy, Trevor, had taken the ring from his great-grandmother without anyone knowing. Once his mom saw Phillips’ Facebook post, the family quickly got the ring back—hopefully along with a lesson for Trevor about borrowing valuables.

iPhone Users Have New Ways to Express Themselves

Apple’s latest iOS 18.4 update has quietly dropped eight new emojis, including a harp, a fingerprint, and a flag. But one in particular has caught everyone’s attention—the “exhausted” emoji. Featuring dark under-eye bags and an exasperated expression, it perfectly captures how many of us feel on a daily basis. If you’ve been waiting for a more accurate way to show your tiredness, Apple has you covered.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Give us three minutes and we'll give you everything you
need to know for the day. With Nina's what's trending,
the TikTok band looms. It's supposed to be this Saturday,
but since then. The reason why it was paused in
the first place. Forgetting about this is because the Trump
administration was pretty pretty convinced that there would be a
bid somebody would buy it before the deadline.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
So now Amazon has made a bid. Amazon's buying it.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
I didn't say they were buying it. I said Amazon
has made a bid for TikTok. So now they've entered
the conversation. I just think it's so funny because it's like,
could you imagine if Amazon.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Takes it buy something off TikTok? How easy would that be?

Speaker 2 (00:34):
I know, let's just say my mom's Amazon.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
Brian Younger, Yeah, so yeah, that could be a thing.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
But we'll wait and see what happens on Saturday.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
But there's probably a good chance he's gonna pause it
again to give them time to sell.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
It if it's gonna get banned.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
But also, my TikTok has been a little bit less
like fun and like dumb stuff like it usually is,
so I'm getting a little sad. Well that's your algorithm
because you started watching the news, and now all news
stuff pops up on your TikTok.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
I don't want news. If I wanted to watch the news,
I go watch the news. I know, but that's what
you've been doing. That's why you come in. You're so sad.
You're like, gosh, did you see what happened? I I try,
but then they know.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
For some reason, the news know how to get me in,
like they know what the they know how to Like
on TikTok, you need to catch someone really quick.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
The news knows how to do that really well. It's
called a tease.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Double does that really well too. So this story is cute.
There's a first grader who is trending right now. He's
trending because of how he stole somebody else's girlfriend. Oh
so in first grade, there's this little girl. She's got
a man and she's been with this guy since kindergarten.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
So all of a sudden, this guy rolls up.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
His name's Trevor. Trevor comes in to steal all this
girl from Brandon. He shows up with his great grandmother's
like diamond ring. Whoa he stole from his great grandmother's
How wow to get this girl.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
The funny part is the girl drop Brandon like nothing
happened Brandon.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Day.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
Her mom is the one that posted all about this.
I'm like, are you proud?

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Did you teach her well to know how to keep
the ring?

Speaker 2 (02:19):
I want to know?

Speaker 3 (02:20):
No, no, he had to take the ring back. They
had to teach him a lesson in my back stealing
back with Daniel Floyeah Brandon anyway, Okay, lastly, I'll leave
you at this. iPhone now has new emojis thanks to
iOS eighteen point four. Now, the one that will be
most commonly used is the exhausted emoji.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
It's got all bags under its eyes.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
With a little crying face, so you can give that
one a track today. There's also a harp, a shovel,
a fingerprint, a tree, a flag, and a radish at
your disposal?

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Cool?

Speaker 1 (02:53):
What do you need THEE for? What always sending radish?

Speaker 2 (03:00):
That's trending
