  • Pope Francis has died at the age of 88

  • Akon is turning his entire music catalog into country songs

Pope Francis Passes Away at 88

Pope Francis died yesterday following a stroke and irreversible heart failure after a long battle with double pneumonia. He had fallen into a coma before his passing and was 88 years old. His funeral is expected to take place between Friday and Sunday, and per his wishes, he’ll be buried at the Basilica of St. Mary Major in Rome.
Fun fact: Before he became pope, Francis was actually a nightclub bouncer in Buenos Aires. And he once owned a Harley Davidson, which he auctioned off in 2014 after receiving it as a gift.

Akon Is Going Country

Akon just announced he’s turning his entire music catalog into country songs. Yep, including “Smack That.” He told TMZ, “I’m not even joking.” The project has been in the works for five years, and starting next month, we’ll begin seeing the country remakes roll out. He hinted at collaborations with major country stars and said he might take more of a guest role on the tracks.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Give us three minutes and we'll give you everything you
need to know for the day with Nina's what's trending.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
You've probably seen by now that Pope Francis has passed
away at the age of eighty eight and we are
awaiting a new pope. But as that happens, we're remembering
Pope Francis and some things you may not have known
about his life, like he was a nightclub bouncer in
Argentina before he became a pope. Like he had a
Harley before he became as good do you still own

(00:25):
a Harley after being the pope again? I can, yeah,
you can wait everything, but he didn't have it before.
This was all his life before he became the pope.
I mean, yeah, you can be the pope probably.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
With him in the Vatican.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
I'm just trying to understand what happened in your life
as that nightclub bouncer or whatever that made you go,
you know what, I Am going to commit my life
to religion and I'm going to go all the way.
You know, maybe he just really found you've clearly never
been a bouncer at a nightclub daily reasons to make
that choice. I was gonna say, you see a lot

(01:02):
probably like, yeah, there is definitely sending this world and
I'm not out.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
I'm gonna be a cardinal come out.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
I also feel like maybe now that I'm thinking about this,
I feel like maybe that also made him more empathetic
towards people and why he was so kind because he
did see so much stuff.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Like don't drink, I understand how good it is.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Trust me well on that Sacramento winding shots and like.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Lightning him up, Welcome to the new papers. Right that time,
he got the heads I'm doing the Blood of Christ

(01:50):
l n f AO shots gets down and.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Make him the people's pope, the people. Amazon time seems
to be taking advantage of this also because it is
so topical, and they've decided to start streaming Conclave. It's
now available today and if you don't show the movie, yeah,

(02:15):
you're right. The Oscar winning film Conclave is about a
pope that passes and then they've got to go on
and find a new one and stuff. So really what
the movie's about. Yeah, so it's kind of I mean,
the timing is impeccable educational even yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Is it actually educational? You are just saying that it's
like a drill.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
I think it is. Okay, I think that there's a
lot to learn about people in this room. Okay, that's
a valid question, just saying. Everyone was looking at me like,
what do you mean reacting that question?

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Nobody was upset with you. Nobody, You're forgiven.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Now I am all right. I'm about to tell you
a story that you should get set about. Do you
remember Akon the rapper Akon? This is one of his hits.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Remember smack that.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Song on the front. Yes, now that you've heard it,
can you picture it? Country? No Country aicon plans to
go count just to TMZ that he's actually redoing his
entire catalog in country, in countries. He's not even writing

(03:16):
new music, taking his old songs and he is making
them country. He's got a song called locked Up too,
and I'm trying to even think about how that would
be locked up.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
They won't let me.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
H yeah, I can see it. Now, give me some ill.
Why doesn't he just write new music because he's taken
advantage of the country boom. However, he does believe he's
one of the first to have been on it, because

(03:47):
he's been working on this project for five years and
he also has collaborations with some legit country artists that
are going to be appearing on this album. So it's
a big crossover country music meets acon world.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
It takes five years to turn. Maybe go to my
place and just kick it like Tybo possibly ben you
over look back and watch me in country. Let's go
to my place kick it like Tibo possibly over.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Just drink whiskey and again, wow, so much to look
forward to. You. Everybody's going country, really, every single artist, yes,
gonna go country. At least do it good. Like I
don't like the idea, like just using your old songs
to go country.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
I don't know, man.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
We talked about this and then when we reported that
Ed Sheeran.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Mean, Victoria's isn't like when people redo their own songs.
She just bought like nine versions of all of Taylor
Swift's songs. Never even changed it at all Taylor's version,
but it's the.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Same song re recording so that she can own them
very different. Second, he's doing the same songs but just
in a different genre. Just because everyone else is going country.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
He's also jumping on the five years ago. If Teryl
Swift said redoing your songs is my thing, you'd be like.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
I wouldn't say that that's not the same. But also,
everybody that is going country is creating new music. I
don't think anybody has gone back and changed their entire
catalog to country. So maybe it is innovative. Maybe this
is something new. Acon I was gonna say that I
want to.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Jump in my lambord creeping.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
I can see it.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
In Shaoh we had tambourine that is trending.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
But this is funny. It before he does quick that
the floor
