TSA Says If You Don’t Have a Real ID by Wednesday, Prepare for Airport Delays

The TSA is finally putting its foot down. Starting this Wednesday, travelers without a Real ID will face longer waits and additional security screening at airports—and the agency recommends arriving at least three hours early if you’re flying. The Real ID is a government-issued ID with a star in the corner, verifying your identity with extra documentation. The rule has been years in the making, but enforcement begins now, just in time to throw a wrench in spring travel plans.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Give us three minutes and we'll give you everything you
need to know for the day. With Nina's what's trending.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
You don't have a real ID by Wednesday, you're gonna
have to get to the airport three hours early.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Whoa at all?

Speaker 1 (00:11):
You can't except for that you can use like passport
and stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
But even still you're gonna need to get their three
hours early because they're going to have additional screenings that
you would be subject to.

Speaker 4 (00:22):
Passport, Yes, but your passport should be like the top
thing like I was always wanted. You don't have your ID,
bring your passport and you can get fought through.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
You can yell all you want, but the TSA has
been warning people about this real ID for years.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
But like, what is the point?

Speaker 4 (00:35):
Like with my passport, it has like all of my information.
Why have to do extra screening.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Because you verified your identity with additional documents and the
way that they have it in their system is that way.
So with your whatever passport, I don't know which shows
stuff and you'll be able to get through fine, They
just want you to get there earlier. And it's also
going to depend on the traffic at the particular airport.
But I mean, it is kind of silly. They've been
telling us for years and now, like if you look
at any of the dm these there were lines out

(01:01):
the door people couldn't get in. It was all this
last minute scampering. Guys, Why do we wait till the
very last minute for something they can then have words
to do it.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
I have an ID. I don't know why I'm mad
about this. I don't know why you're mad about it.
I have a ID.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
I don't need to complain be mad about this. But
it's just like my passport should also work. It does,
but not the same, not as well as a real ID.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Never had them check my ID if I hand them
a passport right, same neither ofby So this all does
feel a little bit much ado about nothing extra. I
don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
I feel like lately they do though, like they take
your idea and they put it through, they scan it.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
They put the little like box like it goes through
a box. Yeah, I'm being honest, I don't know if
that box does anything.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
I don't know if it.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
Does either or not.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
I feel like not every airport has one, but now
if they are forcing everybody to have these ideas, then
every airport should.

Speaker 5 (01:49):
Have I feel like they released stories like this because
I feel like it's usually always the same when they
make changes like that. So you'll go with your passport,
it'll be normal, right, like you're used to. But they
make stories like this in order to get people to
feel like they have to get their real ID.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
You know that's a good point.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Yeah, Well, I always get nervous carrying around my passport
for extra reasons because if you lose your passport, it's
a lot harder to replace than it is your ID.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
Because someone can steal your identity because that has all
your information on it.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Well yeah, and then you just lose it and it's
just harder to get that, do you know what I mean? Yeah,
but identity, Yeah, of course, all of that. Anyway, Okay,
just for.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
The sake of accuracy, your passport still works perfectly. Fine.
You don't need a real idea.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
I don't have how to get there three hours beforehand.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
I'm lucky if I have time to get their stories
warning people to get their three hours early just in case.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Yeah, that's if you have a regular idea. I think, yeah,
even at your passport that they're just trying to scare
you propaganda. Well, I mean, I guess we're going to see.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Why don't you go to the airport on Wednesday and
see what happens your passport and report back and let
us know how it goes?

Speaker 1 (02:48):
A fake news? Do you have that? You have your
real id?

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Brad?

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Do you Jewbel?

Speaker 3 (02:53):
No, Jewel is never going to get the last one
might not even have an actual idea.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
I may not. I want of stuff might be expired.
I have no idea. I just show up and see
how it goes.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
It's a free spirit.

Speaker 4 (03:09):
He gets there like maybe twenty minutes before we are
already boarded about to take off, and this man will
just run right on.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
But it always works out for him, it does.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
He just kind of gotta go with it.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
He does not run conta I do.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
I think about running, So I'm like, man, I'm real
kind of real close. I should probably run.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
They know I've checked it. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (03:31):
The crazy thing is that it has not worked out
for me sometimes though I have shown up and the
door is closed and like dang it.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Yeah, there's something to that mentality though it really does
work for.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
You and it's not working out.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
I feel like if Jebill showed up to the airport
and like, you don't have your id's are all expired
or whatever. Jewel would probably go, oh, okay, well well
see you later. Pretty much not do that thing whatever.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
Figure out something to do then a car and drive
across the country. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
I literally done that.

Speaker 5 (04:02):
To Mexico planned one time, and it was the night
before I realized my passport was expired.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
I ended up being able to get a passport the
next day.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Are you serious. Yeah, when you're in an emergency, they'll
do it so weird. It takes like six months if
you like, you know, the real key here is to booking.
What is going on.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
I don't know why my phone was going alarmed. I
don't know why I was going on. So your birth control, Victoria,
I know what it is that might be.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
I don't know. I never go to the right now
pre Nato, excuse

Speaker 4 (04:31):
You, no, not all right, That's what's
