morning Heather, how are you.Good morning, Toby, Good morning Chilly.
Thanks so much for having me heretoday. And the reason we have

(00:22):
you on is because it's a veryimportant week. It's a Spring to Action
on Wednesday. I believe that's right. Spring to Action is a community wide
giving day. It's an online eventthat is happening on Wednesday, April twenty
six, and it's an opportunity tosupport nonprofit organizations that serve Alexander Virginia.

(00:42):
Our goal is to raise two pointfive million dollars and engage ten thousand people.
That is a lofty goal, twopoint five million. I mean,
these are interesting times. Tell meabout some of the nonprofits that will benefit
from this money. We have onehundred and eighty five nonprofit organizations that are
participating. So if there's a causeyou're interested in, Champs Byre there's a

(01:02):
nonprofit that is working in that area. So some examples include arts organizations like
the Art League of Alexandria, organizationsthat address homelessness and housing like community lodging,
historic and cultural organizations like the AlexandriaBlack History Museum, the Animal Welfare
League. Again, you name it, there's an organization doing work in that

(01:23):
area. It's literally one stop shoppingif you're in a giving mood to go
to this website, spring to actiondot org and pick the nonprofit of your
choice. You got it, silly. It is very easy a spring to
action dot org. You can searchby cause, you can search by organization
names, and each organization has apage that tells you exactly how your donation

(01:45):
is going to be utilized and makea difference. The great thing is that
it's only a five dollar minimum donation, so really it's available for anybody to
give, no matter what they cando. This is really a tool to
help donors and people who want togive back as well as much as it
is a tool to help non profitorganizations raise the money that they need to
sustain their programs. Heather Peeler,We'll put all the details on the Toby

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
