Speaker 1 (00:00):
Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point
one WASH.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Why are you feeling good? As we get this day
started Toby and Chilly in the morning. It's ninety seven
point one Wash FM. Katy Harris playing the part of
Chili Omar. We're in the infirmary studios because Chili's down
for the count with some laryngitis.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
Welcome back.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
I will start by saying, I'm feeling good this morning
that members of our family who listen to us, they're
they're their family because they take us at our word
and when they have a tough time or something that's
on their mind. You know, we had one listener who
hit me up yesterday and said, you know, you said
I could talk to you anytime I had something I
was going through and took me at my word. And
he's got a tough day today and he wanted just

(00:39):
to share it with someone. And I gave him a
couple of thoughts and he told me he was thankful
for that, and I know it's going to be a
tough day there. I don't want to say who he
is because he's listening and he knows who he is,
but I do want to say this. We go through
tough times for a reason. You'll get through them, remember
the happy times, and honor the legacy. You've got this today,

(01:00):
so go get it, and thank you for making me
feel good by you knowing that you could call us
to have a quick chat that might help make your
day better. That being said, that's why I'm feeling good
this morning, Katie. Why are you feeling good?

Speaker 1 (01:12):
I am feeling good because I had been asking a
friend to help me with a project that needed to
get done, and I kept getting excuses, Oh, you got
to do this first.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
You gotta do that first.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
I decided I was going to get it done yesterday,
and in two hours, I got her done.

Speaker 4 (01:27):
And that makes me feel good.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
You'll get you and Taylor Shade, producer keeping everything together
this morning?

Speaker 3 (01:31):
Why are you feeling good today? As we get a
Wednesday started.

Speaker 5 (01:34):
That we work in radio and not television.

Speaker 4 (01:36):
Because my alarm.

Speaker 5 (01:38):
Died overnight and when I did wake up this morning,
I had seven minutes to get ready for work, and
it shows I look like I took seven minutes to
get ready, but I'm also grateful for the extra hour
of accidental Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
That's right. Everything happens for a reason. Why are you
feeling good this morning? Eight sixty six nine seven forty
three sixty one, that's eight six six wash the Number one.
Call us and tell us we always love hearing from
you here at Toby a Chillian in the Morning on
ninety seven point one WASH FM. You know, when we
were kids, there were ways that we were disciplined that
may not fly today.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
What were some of those ways you were disciplined.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
I'm not trying to get too deep this morning, but
I saw this Reddit thread about teachers in the way
they used to like do things in school, like when
you got in trouble as a kid in school, and
I used to do that often, and it got me
thinking about parents, and you know, teachers wouldn't be allowed
to do certain things today. Parents aren't allowed to do
or may not be allowed to do certain things today.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
What are they?

Speaker 2 (02:37):
What was a way you were disciplined that wouldn't fly today?
Call us tell us all about it. We'll talk in minutes.
Eight six six Wash FM, the number one. That's age
sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one Toby
and Chilly in the Morning. Katy Harrison for Chilia Mary
Kat We were kindreds when it comes to age. Do
you remember a way you were disciplined by your parents
as a kid that would not fly today?

Speaker 3 (02:59):
Oh? Absolutely? Like, what's an example.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
It was the belt, when mama's getting the belt, you
know you're in trouble.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Yes, I could hear that jingle jingle jingle coming up
the stairs, and little golden books went into my pants.
I'm not kidding. Sometimes pillows. Yeah, that would not fly today,
and it doesn't fly today. I will tell you that
because that's the way I was disciplined. Kyla's mom and
I never my daughter's mom and I we never did
the corporal punishment thing with our kid. It's interesting. So

(03:26):
eight six six nine two seven forty three sixty one
we have that in common. Perhaps maybe you were disciplined
in a way as a kid that would not be
okay today, not so much, would not stand the test
of time. Leana, what happened to you? And by the way,
good morning in Rockville. Thanks for calling eight six six
ninety two seven forty three sixty one.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
Go ahead.

Speaker 6 (03:47):
Well, they didn't do this to me, but my parents
used to actually take out a ruler and slap my
brother on the hand when he was in trouble. They
never did it to me, but they did it to
my brother, and I know that would be some sort
of problem if they were to do that to him
these days. Can't do that.

Speaker 7 (04:04):
Now.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Why am I having images in my mind of a
nun at a Catholic school after I got in trouble
or something? But this was different because it's parents. Thank
you for jumping in on that. Have you ever been
smacked with a ruler there, Katie?

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Is there anything you haven't been smacked with?

Speaker 1 (04:21):
All I can say is it kind of explains a
lot now.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
I think about it, that the belt, the wooden spoon, Amy,
tell us what happened to you?

Speaker 3 (04:32):
And by the way, good morning in Arlington.

Speaker 8 (04:34):
Oh my god, my mom used to wash my mouth.

Speaker 4 (04:36):
That was soap.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
I can't imagine that that's like healthy or like good
for you, or like maybe even poison.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
I have never had that happen to me, but I
did get to Basco sauce treatment.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
That's a never checked. Well aren't you lucky? Aren't you lucky?
There's a reason why I don't like Irish spring. We'll
just leave it at that. Toby and Tilly in the morning,
if there's a way you were disciplined that would not
fly today.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
Tell us all about it.

Speaker 2 (04:58):

your iHeart app Tap speaks and we love hearing your

and your headspace. We call this your morning mindset.

Speaker 4 (05:26):
This is where you get inspiration for the day. Give
it to us, Toby.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Henry David Thireau says success usually comes to those who
are too busy looking for it. Success usually comes to
those who are too busy to be looking for it.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Henry David Thureau. Now here's the thing.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Some people look at you as being busy, and they
think that maybe your work life balance is out of kilter,
or maybe they judge you because they think that you're
working hard and well it's not really fruitful. But here's
the truth. You're working hard because you're working hard, and
that's how you find success and success comes to you
because you're busy, right and you're not busy looking for

(06:07):
that success. You're busy working on that success. Keep that
in mind as you go through your day today. I
know that things might be tough. Work can be tough,
life can be hard, but success usually comes to those,
according to Henry David Thureaux, to those who are too
busy to be looking for it. Hopefully that helps, and

(06:27):
if it did, share it with someone who might need
it just like you did. You can find it to

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Another way that I know I'm not as young as

Speaker 7 (13:40):
Like?

Speaker 8 (13:40):
I was hearing these crazy names and I was like,
this is a real person, and I was like, oh god.

Speaker 6 (13:45):
I don't get it anymore.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
Denise, thanks for the call.

and or anything that's too tight. Plus, my shoes are
super crasso and comfy. I like sneakers. I'm a kick
shoegang girl.

I'm like, it's a bad visual, please stop.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
I'm still young enough that I don't have to rock
a T shirt while I'm in the pool.

There, Katie, you might want to rethink that one.

Chief yevity for Georgia's Secretary of State says more than
three hundred thousand people showed up to cast ballots on
the first day of early voting Tuesday. It came on
the same night that former President Trump spoke to a
packed house in Atlanta, where he hit some of the
central points of his campaign. Vice President Harris wants to

(15:56):
legalize recreational marijuana on a national level. Harris says the
she was the most progressive prosecutor for weed crimes when
she was the San Francisco District Attorney. She also noted
that she's worked with President Biden to reclassify pot as
a lesser narcotic. Mayor Bowser is not letting a man
known for his election predictions get in the way by

(16:17):
calling DC the worst sports city in America. Nate Silver
called DC sports teams weird and a social media post
on Sunday saying the city would improve it if it
had cool teams. Now. The mayor pushed back on that
and basically on her own social media yesterday noted the
Caps Stanley Cup win in twenty eighteen, the NATS World

Speaker 3 (17:56):
Oh, what are the signs? You're not getting any younger?

Speaker 1 (18:00):
Al?

Speaker 3 (18:00):
What's going on?

Speaker 6 (18:01):
So I'll be.

Speaker 8 (18:02):
Talking to a friend or in a meeting at work,
and my.

Speaker 6 (18:05):
Son seems perfectly fine, and then all of a sudden, Oh,
what was that word I was going to say? And
I just have to pause and think a little bit
longer for it.

Speaker 4 (18:12):
That happens to me too all the time.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
What's the one for that again?

Speaker 4 (18:18):
Exactly?

Speaker 2 (18:19):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (18:20):
And you know what it is?

Speaker 3 (18:21):
You can't get it out?

Speaker 2 (18:22):
Oh yeah, yeah, that word?

Speaker 3 (18:26):
You know the one? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (18:28):
Oh my gosh, it's so frustrating.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
I'm talking and it makes no sense.

Speaker 1 (18:32):
Then you remember what it is like twenty minutes later,
and you're kicking yourself in the buck. Well.

Speaker 2 (18:37):
Usually doesn't take me twenty minutes, but it is embarrassing sometimes.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
Thank you for the call this morning. Hey, good bye,
Now to mount Airy.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
Good morning, Mike, what's a sign that you're not as
young as you used to be.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
Good morning, sir, thanks for having me on. I got
two of them. First one I have is first starters.

Speaker 8 (18:58):
I'm almost fifty and I've seen this a.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
Couple of times where classmates I went to high school
with in grades lower than me started becoming grandparents.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
That'll hit yeah, oh I bet.

Speaker 2 (19:11):
The second point I have, and this was kind of sad,
is that when you start outliving your classmates.

Speaker 3 (19:17):
I know, I've seen that one a few times. I
Kim Fro from a really small class too.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
I've been experiencing the same thing.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
It's like, oh no, that person, Oh no, that person,
and it just kind of makes.

Speaker 3 (19:28):
You rethink a little bit. It does.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
Well, that just means what we have to do is
we have to cherish what we have and who we
have right now.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
Not a sermon, just a thought. Absolutely what more.

Speaker 5 (19:43):
