Toby and Chilly Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point
one chef out.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
I find it hard to believe that I'm going to
say this, but I'm feeling good before five o'clock this
morning because I spent some time with my grandmother and
a friend who passed away several years ago. Toby and
Chilly in the morning. It's ninety seven point one was FM.
I mean, we need like a dream interpreter or something,
because I believe in the sanctity of dreams, and I
(00:27):
was visited by both last night, and the conversations were very,
very insightful, so insightful that I wanted to go back
to bed and finish the conversation, but I knew I couldn't.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
That is can I tell you? I am crazy so
legit envious of that because I love hearing stories of
people getting a visit from someone who's passed. Whether you
could interpret it to this or that, even in that reality,
you really felt like you hung out with your grandmother
and your friend, Like that's what I want about my mother,
(00:58):
Do you know what I'm saying? Like my mother's only
come one time in the last twelve thirteen, fifteen years.
You know what I'm saying, like, I wish you would
visit me more.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
It was it was just very interesting, like my grandmother
was talking about health related things with me and remembering that,
you know, these days, you have great insurance for things
like this. Then for my other friend, it was just
kind of more like a hey, press on. I know
that sometimes this gets rough. Wish I could be there
to tell you how to get through some of it,
(01:27):
but I can't be, and it just to me it
was like odd and not odd in a bad way.
But it feels good. But it's just very enough about this.
At first I thought it was something I ate last
night and maybe it was just upset. Tell me it's okay.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
It's nice to get a visit from love. It was interesting.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Yeah, So that's got me feeling good in some sort
of way this morning. What about you.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
I think what I'm excited about is having a lunch
date with my son today. You know, they haven't had
school yesterday and today, and we're gonna have a little
mommy Donado lunch date.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
Well, where's dad gonna be? He Dad usually goes for
sushi with you on days. Oh wait a minute, Well, no,
soun's off today.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
My son is up, so he might join us. Daddy
might join us. I'm gonna give de Nato that option
if you want. Sometimes he just likes, you know, alone
time with one of us, so well.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
Well, you know, mom time is important as somebody's son.
I never used to like put a lot of credence
into that when I was younger. Put that on the
list of things that probably go back and do differently.
I'm gonna live vicariously through Donato today, your son at lunch.
It's ninety seven point one WASHFM, Toby and Chilly in
the morning. What we're not living vicariously through is the
threat of a strike.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
Yeah, y'all need to You can stop hoarding the toilet paper,
which you never needed to do in the first place.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
But okay, developments yours net people were freaking out hoarding
things at grocery stores, toilet paper and the like. Well,
it's ninety seven point one WASHFM, Toby and Chilly in
the morning. We've got a little bit of an update
for you when it comes to this long shore men's
strike or this dock workers striker, whatever it is that
has to do with shipping containers that was going to
(03:05):
be on strike.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
Yeah, they reached a tenet of deal on wages yesterday.
Now it's on hold. Okay, so they're going to go
back to the table. They put it on pause until January.
The reason we wanted to bring this up though, because
Toby and I were talking about this yesterday and I
was so frustrated people were hoarding toilet paper, like there's
no tomorrow. The cost go's near my house at least
(03:27):
the ones where I live. We're out of toilet paper,
paper other products. The thing is, toilet paper is not
imported from another country. Yeah, no, okay, there was no
reason for y'all to be taken up all unless you
were going to be donating it to folks, you know,
down south. But most of these people were freaking out
about the dock workers strike.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
Yeah, people need to understand something, toilet paper is made
here in North America.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
Now, I know that people are still you know a
little bit kind of you know, they're feeling some sort
of way because of the whole pandemic. And yes, there
were shortages, but there's a lot of toilet paper.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
I just pause that and say there were shortages because
people were hoarding. Well, if people just purchased just what
they needed for that, you know, just to get them
through another week or so. We would have all been.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Fine, but the knee jerk reaction to hoard is kind
of a problem. What you should have been hoarding were bananas.
Those were likely to be impacted. Yeah, now, hot chocolate
this close to Halloween, and you know, imported beer liquor
and wine and stuff, you know, goldschlager and things from Germany.
That's me.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
You make a fair point, right, this is going to
potentially happen again in January. Start now and pace yourself
with freezing some bananas, okay, and some of the alcohol
purchases that are from overseas.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
Fine, And they.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Start to the retailers who have already made plans for
this happening because they knew that this was coming from
about five miles away. Thank you for being ahead of
it and for making sure we have toilet paper. We
apologize that people were going buck wild hoarding things, causing
ridiculous lines at the costcos you've seen the Internet of things. Okay,
but anyway, well maybe you know that we've vented a
(05:10):
little bit.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
Also gave you.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
As well, Yeah, yeah, no, you don't have to rush
to Costco to buy fifteen rolls of toilet fifteen cases
of toilet paper or whatever. Anyway you need some positivity
to start your day, we got you covered. Your morning
mindsets on the way in minutes. We're Toby and Chilly
in the Morning. Welcome to Friday, anybody, gods some TP
please ninety seven point one watch FM Toby and Chilly
in the Morning on Friday. See where this close to
(05:34):
the weekend. That in itself is a win. And that's
your morning mindset.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
No, no, sir, you gotta share a quote, you know,
for us to take on with us as we go
through the day.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
Well, your morning mindset comes from Thomas Edison, who has
invented a few things. Perhaps maybe you've heard of this person,
Thomas Edison. Thomas Edison says, our greatest weakness lies in
giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always
to try just one more time. If you're gonna give up,
you've already given in to what what Thomas Edison calls
(06:06):
our greatest weakness. But here's the thing. You try one
more time. Just try one more time. Yeah, you might fail,
so it's okay, Just try one more time. Because you're
not giving up. Trust me, We've all been on the
precipice of wanting to give up. But it's when you
get up and you try one more time that the
great things in life happen. So embrace that today as
(06:28):
you go into your weekend. Thank you Tomas Cetizen. And
if that quote helped you and it might help someone
you know, you'll find it on the Toby and chilipage
at washfm dot com. Now coming up in just a
few minutes of entertainment news. We call it Showbiz Buzz Chili.
What do we need to know going into this last
day of the work week.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Well, well, big news yesterday country music legend Garth Brooks
accused of sexually assaulting a hair and make up artists.
More details are on the web.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
Time now for a dose of entertainment news with your coffee.
We call it Showbiz Buzz ninety seven point one WASHCHFM
Toby and Chill in the morning. This is where Chile
keeps an eye on all things happening in the world
of entertainment for us. What's up.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
Well, the big story yesterday was country music legend Garth Brooks,
who's been accused of sexually assaulting a hair and makeup artist.
This woman claims that Garth attacked her back in twenty
nineteen in an La hotel. Now he denies the claims
and says that she made the allegations after he denied
her request for a salaried employment and medical benefits. Nikki
(07:27):
Bella filed a restraining order against her estranged husband, Ardam Schignetseev,
which was approved by a judge. Now she alleges Ardam
tackled her multiple times and pinned her to the ground
while their son was present. Nikki also claims that his
anger issues escalated after he was cut from Dancing with
(07:48):
the Stars. The oscars are searching for a host to
replace Jimmy Kimmel because he's made it pretty clear that
he doesn't want to MC that ceremony again. And you
know who they're looking at. A duo, A dynamic duo,
Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds. They've emerged as an answer
to pulling in more viewers because their chemistry was on
display as a promoted Deadpool and Wolverine together. And Hugh
(08:13):
does have experience, I mean he has hosted the Tonies
in the past. So we'll see if the two of
them agree to do this, and finally a Good Morning
America weatherman Sam Champion revealed this week that he had
to have multiple procedures to address skin cancer. There was
a growth under his right eye and he's currently healing.
And that is your showbus.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
Buzz need more news gotch covered top stories at the
top of the hour coming up around six on this Friday, DC.
We've almost made it to the weekend. Let's get through
today and finished strong. It's ninety seven point one.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
Watch FM Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
Courts along the East Coast and Gulf Coast back in
business thanks to a tentative settlement. The two sides reportedly
agreed to extend the expired contract until at least January fifteenth.
Hurricane Helene is now the deadliest storm to hit the
mainland US since Hurricane Katrina. Officials say at least two
hundred and fifteen people have died so far. A Virginia Governor,
(09:12):
Glenn Youngkin, issued an executive order this week establishing the
Office of First Responder Wellness. He said that traumatic events
like responses to Helene take a mental, physical, and emotional
toll that requires more support from the state The fate
of a for more Fitfex County police officer accused of
involuntary manslaughter is now in the hands of a jury.
(09:33):
Wesley Schifflet is accused of acting recklessly in connection with
the deadly shooting of an unarmed shoplifting suspect last year
outside Tyson's Corner Center. Right now, the maximum civil fine
that's allowed in Prince George's County is one thousand dollars,
and that's for breaking the rules repeatedly. Well this week,
the Prince George's County Council made it clear that a
(09:54):
bill to raise the maximum fine to five thousand dollars
will easily pass later this fall and Thanksgiving week is
always one of the busiest travel times in the US,
and according to travel experts, the best days to fly
for the holiday or Saturday, November twenty third and Monday
November twenty fifth, as well as Thanksgiving Day itself, which
(10:15):
is November twenty eighth. Forecast for today, we do have
clouds and a chance of a stray shower seventy five,
the high right now at sixty two and Lantham.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
Eight six six nine two seven forty three sixty one.
That's eight sixty six Wash FM, the number one talkback
microphone wide open too. If you're signed into your iHeart app,
you'll see the microphone with the circle around it to
press it speak tell us what's on your mind when
it comes to this And maybe you saw this in
the news or flooding around the internet. This week, arion
A Grandde right, took a lie detector to prove that
(10:47):
she had not had plastic surgery. I guess there's some
people that have seen her evolve and change and somebody
was like, hey, did you now The question we have
is this, would you take a lie detector to prove
that you didn't have plastic surgery? Or would you take
a lie detector to prove or not prove something that
(11:08):
may not be plastic surgery but it could be anything.
Got thoughts on the Ariana Grande thing, and we want
to hear what you have to say. Plus we'll talk
about these lie detectors coming up neck Do you see
the news this week? Ariana Grande? She finally set the
record straight ninety seven point one watch FM Tobya Chilly
in the Morning against the lie detector machine. She answered
which cosmetic procedures she's had which she hasn't had. And
(11:31):
then she said in the interview after she had done
the lie detector test, right, she goes, this is the
best day of my life. Take that you YouTube people, So
it's like she's addressing the court of public opinion that's
gonna just say whatever they want to say regardless. I
find it interesting that she had to take a lie
detector test to prove this. I mean, why is it
(11:52):
that we can't just take her at her word.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
Also, I don't know that I would have if I
was hurt. Look, really, I know the truth. Let's say
I have not had plastic surgery, and I know people
are gonna come at you. I don't think they're going
to stop just because she passed a lie detector test,
because you're gonna have the doubter or say, well, she
just beat the system. The lie detector thing makes me
nervous anyway, Why is that? Well, I'm an anxious person,
(12:16):
but my blood pressure and all those things are already.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
Like if they take that into account when they baseline.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
You, still I don't trust it's a machine.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
Yeah it did's a machine, but I would find it
to be quite liberating. I mean, if somebody wants to
come down here and bring one of these lie detector
gimmicks down and strap us all up to it. You
know what, I would be more than willing to do it,
because here's the thing. I don't think you can go
wrong with the truth. It may not be pretty, it
may not be.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
That's if the machine is correct.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
Well, you have to at some point in time, you
have to trust that these people know what they're doing
and that these machines are correct.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
You know. The part that frightens me is I am
telling the truth, but because of whatever is going on
with me physiologically, it's reading as a lie and now
everyone's going to believe a machine over me, and that
to me is scary as all get out. But yes,
if it was life and death, if it was me,
(13:12):
I would. If I have to take one, I would,
But not to prove that I did or didn't have
some work done.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
I mean, I'm diametrically opposite to that. I admit that
I would be a little nervous and you'd probably detect
a heart racing and maybe a bitter patter of my
heart rate going up a bit when I was getting
strapped into said machine. But again, if it's going to
liberate me. And I can say to the people, Aha,
take that to YouTube aters, I'd be all about it.
(13:39):
So anybody in forensic science want to come on down here,
Fbi Quantico.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
Maybe I'll pass one by shock science.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
Send somebody up. And even if it's not a machine,
if there's a better way for us to, like, you know,
determine lies like micro expressions or something else, feel free
to call and tell us that too. We love hearing
what you have to say. At ninety seven point one
wasch FM and to read more about Ari and A
and the Lie Detector Toby at Chilipage, washfm dot com.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Toby and Chili's nearly impossible question.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
Now you can't lie. You have to answer right or wrong.
If you want to go see Pentatonics, We've got tickets.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
Well, according to recent survey, this was named the best
store bought cookie brand or cookie?

Speaker 2 (14:19):

be yours thanks to Live Nation.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
The question again, according to a recent survey, this was
named the best bought or store bought cookie brand?
Speaker 2 (14:32):

think of the cookies you love? You might be right
eight six six ninet two seven forty three sixty one
call out of play when we'll I'll learn something together.
It's your nearly impossible question is also.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
Toby and Chili's nearly impossible question.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Good morning, Cindy, how are you?
Speaker 1 (14:48):
I'm doing great? How are you really good?
Speaker 2 (14:51):
Chili's gonna ask the question one more time because there
might have been people that didn't hear it who like
to play along in a car.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
According to a recent survey, this was name aimed the
best store bought cookie.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
What is it for the tickets to see Pentatonic?
Speaker 1 (15:07):
Survey said oreo?
Speaker 3 (15:10):
Is that your favorite.
Speaker 4 (15:12):
Depends on the day?
Speaker 2 (15:13):
Really, so today being Friday, what would your candy choice
be today? Then your what's your cookie at the day?
It would be anything, but I would go with oreo. Okay, Well,
I think you're just going with Oreo because you might
think that that's the correct answer.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
And if that's what you're thinking, you would be right.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
Congratulations. Now we have to know when it comes to oreos,
do you take them apart and lick the center out
of them first? Or do you just enjoy the entire
sandwich goodness.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
I take them apart and then I stack them up
so there's more cream to cookie ratio.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
Oh so you go a step beyond the double stuff
to the like the big Mac version of the oreo.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
Absolutely, and we probably all agree there needs to be
milk involved in some dunking, right.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
That's right, yes, ma'am, alrighty, well, you go dunk your
oreos and enjoy Pentatonics. These tickets, thanks Salive Nation belong to.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
You, Thank you very much.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
And by the way, be here on Monday because we've
got more stuff for you to win.
Speaker 3 (16:18):

Speaker 3 (16:39):
Striking doc workers along the Gulf Coast and East Coasts
are returning to work after reaching a tentative deal on wages.
The two sides are reportedly agreed to extend their expired
contract until January fifteenth. Hurricane Helene has now become the

Fairfax County Animal Rescue now hosting nearly one hundred dogs

by Helene. Homeward Trail's Animal Rescue is working to find
temporary and permanent homes for the animals. Members of the
DC Council want the city to pay for round the

help with the hiring and retention of vital DC's emergency
services personnel. The National Park Service wants to make it
easier and safer for bicyclists and pedestrians to get to
Reagan National Airports, so yesterday, the Park Service announced the
(17:46):
approval of a multimodal connection project that's designed to create
more accessible pathways for bikes and pedestrians. And Having good
friends is important, but new research highlights how much they
make a different for instant the lives of single young people.
A recent study of Americans between eighteen and twenty four
years old finds a particularly strong link between happiness and
(18:10):
satisfying friendships. Forecast for today, it's going to be cloudy.
We do have a chance of a stray shower. Highs
around seventy five right now sixty three in Centreville.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
You've heard the news, these stories of this Hurricane Helene
and the after effects, the flooding. It's just devastation. It's
all bad. But out of all of this bad comes
a glimmer of hope, something that might inspire you. A
guy who went on a trek. Why did he go
above and beyond on this trek just to get away
(18:39):
from the hurricane damage? You'll find out next. This story
makes me think of that song from the Proclaimers back
in the day, I would walk five hundred miles, But
that man, he absolutely did. He walked from miles and
miles with barely any battery power on his phone light,
just to make it to his daughter's wedding. Ninety's seven
point one. Watch them Toby and Chilly in the morning,
(19:01):
And that begs the question.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
What is the biggest sacrifice you've made to make it
to a special event?
Speaker 2 (19:07):
Yeah, when did you go above and beyond. Eight sixty

But ill also had a major project.
Speaker 2 (19:35):

Speaker 3 (19:37):
We got the project done just so I could.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
Celebrate, and it was fantastic because he just had no
idea how to be surprised take all.
Speaker 3 (19:46):
It was just wonderful. Thank God for caffeine to get
you through that project and to an event.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
Which reminds me. Let me take a sip of my
caffeinate at beverage right now. Mike, good morning in Rockville.
It's up. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
I flew to Bermuda for my sister's wedding.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
I've got a bit though. It was pretty awesome.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
What made it so great?
Speaker 1 (20:08):
Day five days after the wedding and had a blast.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
So I don't think it was a sacrifice.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
I thought it was going to be.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
Well, the only sacrifice was probably in your wallet.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
I don't know. That I would call that a sacrifice
all those days in Bermuda. That sounds like bliss, which
makes that a justifiable expense. Thank you for jumping in now.
If you have something you'd like to add to the conversation,
how far have you gone above and beyond to attend
some kind of special event? Tell us all about it.

microphone if you're listening on your Iron app. Nothing will
stop a determined dad. There's been a lot of heartbreak
that's come out of this Hurricane Helen, but there's a
story that'll make you smile today. The dad's name is
David Jones. He was going to drive for a couple
of hours. It should have been a very routine trip
to Tennessee to see his daughter's weddings. Daughter's Elizabeth. Well,
(21:19):
it was into two hour drive. It turned out being
a twelve hour nightmare, a thirty mile walk with a
cell phone light through pitch black debris fields, near death encounters,
getting stuck in knee deep mud. But nonetheless, this dad
made it just in time to walk his daughter down
(21:39):
the aisle.
Speaker 3 (21:40):
Wow, that's going extra. I mean, you've got a hurricane
and you are so determined to get to this special
event that you are putting your own life at risk.
And I mean if no cell phone, that means Elizabeth
didn't even know if her father was a right, Like
I'm trying to picture if I'm bride now, I'm wondering,
(22:02):
like am I going to have this wedding? Like what's
going on? Where's dad? And then he shows up, probably covered.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
In mud, looking more than likely a little disheveled.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
Yeah, exactly, and having her have her special day. Look
to your point, you know, we've seen so many horrible
images from hurricane the Hurricane Helen devastation, but the silver
lining is stories like this that come from it, where
it truly does restore your faith in humanity and gives
(22:33):
your reason to smile and makes your heart feel warm,
because we desperately need these stories so that we have
something positive come from something chaotic.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
And it's a reminder of the resiliency of the human spirit.
You know, if there's something that you are determined to do,
because you're determined to do it, you'll get it done.
And there was nothing stopping this Dad. So do you
ever go above and beyond to attend to special events?
Speaker 3 (22:58):
Yes, And by the way, we're not expecting you to
call and say you walked thirty miles to a special event.
It could be any other kind.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
Was hiking the Himalayan mountains and they collapsed.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
No, no, no, not a competition, we are No.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
It doesn't have to be like you know, it could
be really anything. But these are stories that we feel
might bring us all a bit of joy on a
Friday as we get ready for the weekend. And it's
been a tough couple of weeks with the news. It's
been a tough week with the news when it comes
to this storm and everything. So feel free to jump
in and tell us what's on your mind. You know
how to reach us. You know the numbers. We'll get
(23:33):
to some of your stories coming up in just a
few minutes here with Toby and Chilly in the morning.

My name is Terry Gilbert and I'm from Orleans, Virginia
in Faulker County. Oh years ago, my kids friends suddenly
had to move to Minnesota. The kids were devastated that
their friends from childhood had to move away. So for
Thanksgiving we got up at three o'clock in the morning
on a Wednesday and drove eleven hundred miles all the
(26:47):
way to Minnesota to the next morning to surprise them
on Thanksgiving Day, and then turned around and drove that home.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
Whoa wait wait wait all within like twenty four hours.
It was literally that quick.
Speaker 4 (26:58):
We wed Yeah, we drove Wednesday all the way Thanksgiving,
spent Thanksgiving Day and came home from can we twod
aches to get back because oh my gosh, it was
a long drive. But they didn't know we were coming.
And when the kids knocked on the door, memory of
a lifetime.
Speaker 3 (27:13):
Now, popping in on somebody on a random day is
one thing you popped in on a holiday? Did they
have enough food?
Speaker 1 (27:20):
Were they prepared to even host you?
Speaker 4 (27:22):
Ah, they didn't care. It's my best girlfriend, so she
didn't care.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
She was just excited that the fact that the kids, you.
Speaker 4 (27:30):
Know, new place and everything, they were really having a
hard time. So it isn't that what Thanksgivings all about.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
It was a Thanksgiving miracle.
Speaker 4 (27:38):
It's a miracle. I made it. Oh my gosh. We
had the video player going. I had movies and that
was what kept me driving. Every two hours, put in
a new movie so I would know how much further
I had to go.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
And you know what, you created such a core memory,
not just for the kids, but for you and your friend.
Speaker 4 (27:55):
Oh. Absolutely, But you know the kids learned you go
above and the beyond. For your friend, oh, I think
for them it was a heck of an adventure.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
Are you guys still close? Are they still friends? And
are you still friends with the mom?
Speaker 4 (28:06):
Matter of fact, yes, my daughter's friend just came down
to visit this summer. We haven't seen her in about
since probably two thousands, about twenty years we haven't seen her.
The kids are older now, you know, the girls are
in their thirties, same kind of thing she was over
in Ohio. She drove down for the day and hour,
spent the night, and then went and went back home.
Speaker 2 (28:26):
But she had to do it.
Speaker 3 (28:27):
She just had to come see us.
Speaker 2 (28:29):
