Speaker 1 (00:00):
Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point
one wash Out.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
There's always a reason to feel good, even though life
might be some sort of way, you might be feeling
some sort of way, there's always something to feel good
about in the morning, and that's why before five we
take a second to pause and think about why there's
something that will bring us joy as we get the
day started feeling good before five. It's ninety seven point one.
WASHEFM Toby and Chilly in the morning, Chili, why are

(00:27):
you feeling good this early morning?

Speaker 3 (00:28):
I'm feeling good because tomorrow and Friday we're going to
be back at Children's National Hospital to do our wash
for Kids Radio fon and we're going to be broadcasting
from the atrium. And yes, it's a hospital, but that
place has such a positive and hopeful vibe that I
love to be part of that, Like, you know, seeing
the staff and just getting to meet some of the
patients and just their families. It's it's a really nice reunion.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Always reminds me in life that there's always somebody that's
going through something worse than maybe you, but there's a
place like Children's Nationalists there to heal it's a good feeling.
That's that's that's a point well taken.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
What about you.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
I'm looking forward to sleeping in a hotel near the hospital.
They give us places to stay early in the morning.
In the time that we've been doing the Children's National broadcast,
I've never once really stayed in one of those hospitals.
I've always just done the morning schlep down there. Well,
I'm staying down there for a couple of reasons. One
because it's close to because rest. Three because I have

(01:25):
no bed and I'm a little bit over sleeping in
my daughter's bed. And if I'm going to be fresh,
I need to be rested. Yes, and that is kind
of important and so oh and not to mention, you
don't really have to take care of yourself because housekeeping
comes into clean up after you get so you havetel experience. Oh,
I could be Zach and Cody the Secret Life living
in a hotel and beyond in poper.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
Well, I hope that the bed that you're sleeping in
the next couple of nights is comfortable.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
With Yeah, as long as it gives as long as
I get to rest, you know what I mean, Because
I didn't I will tell you yesterday I didn't get
any rest. I had just life stuff going on on
top of work stuff, and it was just I'm looking
for to just focusing on one thing, making sure these
kids get the help that they need and that we
raise a bunch of money for them to do so.
So that's why we're feeling good this early morning. What

(02:11):
about you? Eight sixty six nineteen seven forty three sixty
one is the number talkbacks wide open too. If you
feel like you want to use that sign in tap
speak send, We'll get it here and in a few
minutes we're going to talk about the best Christmas movie. Jillie,
you and I were talking off air. I guess you're
trying to find a new family tradition in the form
of a Christmas movie.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Yeah, we still haven't found one yet.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
We'll stay there. We'll get into it coming up, because
I've had an evolution when it comes to Christmas movies.
I couldn't believe it. I can't even believe I'm about
to tell you about this, But we'll get to that
coming up next. Good morning, DC, Good early Wednesday morning.
It's ninety seven point one wash FM. Toby and Chilly
in the morning. Let's talk Christmas movies this morning, Jilly,
do you have a favorite? Is there one that your

(02:53):
family gathers around to watch as a tradition every Christmas season.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
We're looking for one, and I thought Home Alone would
be it, but alas no, it wasn't as good as
I thought it would be for my eleven year old.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Why didn't you like the little Macauley Culkin Home Alone
causing reaping havoc on these people and whatnot?

Speaker 3 (03:12):
Because the reap and havoc didn't come until the very
end of the movie, would you forget right? When you
watch it back, you're like, oh, yeah, it takes a
beat to get to that storture.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
I haven't watched it in like a minute. Might have
been changing. Man, I've really become kind of a fan
of some of these shows on Hallmark. If you would
have asked me yesterday, I would have said something like,
it's a great Christmas Charlie.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
Brown, that's a good one here. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
But now it's different because these Hallmark Channel movies are
just they're like new gems to discover.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Oh my, yeah, well they're very formulaic, so you're into that.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
That's well, you know, at least there's something to be
said about consistency. Were Toby and Chilly in the Morning,
It's ninety seven point one Watch Chef m at eight
six six nineteen seven forty three sixty one Gale Falls Church,
Good morning. Your favorite Christmas movie is.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
It would be a Christmas story, especially if you're in
the generation X.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
You grew up with it. You watched it all twenty
four hours on the TV as you were staying up
all night wrapping. That's a really good one. You'll shoot
your eye up. Maybe my kid will like that one.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
You'll shoot your eye out.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Didn't you want that BB gun or something in that movie?

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Craig, good morning in Silver Spring. Favorite Christmas movie, go ahead,
the greatest of all Christmas movies. I don't care what
anybody says. Hands down is die Hard.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
What makes it a Christmas movie is that it's a
Christmas movie.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
And I don't care what anybody says. And that's it.
End of conversation. Die Hard. Yeah that's true. Ho ho,
Now I have a speaking of BB guns.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
No, thank you. I'm gonna go back to Ralfie. You
can keep your die Hard.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
You'll shoot your eye out. Harry, Good morning in Winchester.
What's going on? Your favorite Christmas movie? Go ahead.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
Oh, it's a wonderful life for sure, and I watch
it every year and it just makes me cry like
a baby.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
It's such a great story. Ever, Tama Bell rings an
Angel gets its wings.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
Oh yeah, that was much better than You'll shoot your eye.

Toby and Chilly in the morning.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
Okay, so this is where we pause and Toby shares
a quote to get everybody in a great headspace.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
Joseph Campbell says, this morning, and you should consider this
when it comes to your own life into whatever you're
going through. Follow your bliss in the universe will open
doors where there were only walls. Follow your bliss in
the universe will open doors were there were only walls.
See if you follow that bliss right, these doors will

(05:52):
open for you. You might only see walls, but you
can get right through them. But it starts with that
bliss not being afraid to follow it. They talk about
being happy at work, being happy with what you've chosen
to do. It's all a part of what goes into bliss.
So keep that in mind today. Are you following your bliss?

(06:13):
Maybe you're wondering why doors don't seem to be opening,
or maybe why you keep hitting walls. You'll get through it.
Just follow that bliss. Hopefully that helps. Thanks to Joseph Campbell,
that's your morning mindset. It's Toby and Chilly in the Morning,

and stroke while he was on the set of the
movie Back in Action. A Fox said he ended up
in a coma for twenty days and had to relearn
basic functions like walking. Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly's

(07:13):
volatile relationship has apparently come to an end just a
month after they announced that they were expecting a baby together.
A source says that she broke up with him because
of content that she found on his phone. Over one
thousand theaters worldwide are going to be hosting sing along

was the.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
Top stories top of the hour?

Speaker 3 (08:31):
The twenty six year old charge and the murder of
United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson is fighting extradition back to
New York for trial. Luigi Mangioni appeared in a Pennsylvania
courtroom yesterday where he challenged his extradition and was ordered
hell without bail. Police are called. We're called rather to
a grocery store in Arlington. This happened around three forty

(08:51):
five yesterday afternoon, after a man reportedly spoke to employees
and then pulled out a knife and left. The suspect
was later found at the Oslyn Metro station, where he
reportedly struggled with police before an officer shot him, and
the suspect was hospitalized with serious injuries. Mayor Muriel Bowser
is asking Congress to adopt a unified policy that will

(09:13):
return most federal workers to their offices in DC. The
panel's Republican chair agreed, saying that telework policies are hurting
the city's economy. The most expensive zip code in the
DC area is in ann Arundel County two one ZHO
five six includes Gibson Island, which is a small private

(09:35):
island on the Chesapeake Bay. The median home selling price
in that zip code is nearly three point four million dollars.
Great Falls, Virginia came in second, followed by McClain and
Google just released their annual year in Search report, and
in the US, the presidential election was the most searched term,
while globally Copa America, a soccer tournament was number one.

(09:59):
Forecast today, all day temperatures are going to fall to
around fifty seven right now sixty in white planks.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
I understand you're having issues with a certain tool there, Chili.
What's going on the.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Person who invented this tool? We are not fans?

Speaker 2 (10:13):
Why really, what tool are you talking about? And why
would we not be fans? I mean, I don't know,
maybe some people are. Well, we'll find out what the
tool is coming up in minutes and why Chili's feeling
some sort of way about it. Stay with us. It's
ninety seven point one Wash FM Tobya Chilly in the morning.
We'll get to that coming up. That's a tremendous pairing
Lindsey Sterling and Sabrina Carpenter. You're a mean one, mister Grant.

(10:35):
It's ninety seven point one watch FM Toby A Chili
in the morning. So I understand there's a tool, Chili
you're having some issues with. You feel some sort of
way about it. What's wrong?

Speaker 3 (10:44):
The Allen Runch? How would we describe it? It's like
an l and it comes with build your own furniture sets.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Yeah, they typically include them. If you buy something at Ikea,
there's one taped to some random piece of wood and you.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
Use it to hand screw it in the screws, and
inevitably it's painful. After a while, it's annoying, and I'm
kind of surprised that there isn't a more modern or
quicker way to do this, Like there is no like
electric drills exist, but there's no way to speed up
the Allan wrench experience and get it out of your hand.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
Well, actually there is. I mean you can buy like
Alan Rinch like tips for like electronic not electronic, but
a what you call those screwdrivers that are like that
are not mechanical. I can't get letric Yeah, yeah, it's electric,
or a battery operated screwdriver. You can buy like the
what's it called tips like drill bits, but they're not

(11:39):
drill bits. You can get those. Then I have one
that looks like a Swiss army knife that has multiple
Islan wrenches in it, and it just makes it easier
to turn because it's kind of a handle, whereas the
Alan Rinch I imagine that you're alluding to doesn't have one
of those handles. You have to kind of flip it
back and forth, and that can be annoying.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
The short the shorter side, the longer side, George. And
then the palm of your hand gets sore, sometimes it
gets red, but it's we just put together another piece
of furniture in the house, and I remember thinking, I
can't believe we can't just do this faster. But that's
on me. I didn't do any homework. I didn't know
that we could have Alan wrench attachments to something that

(12:18):
could speed it up. I thought it was by hand
or go home.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
I didn't neither until I was frustrated, much like you,
and then I went to Low's and Improved Home Improvement.
They also have it at home Depot. You can find
them there as well. But the Allen reaches that pain
in the butt hawks sort of tool that comes and
it's even worse if you lose it, and that's been
prone to happen.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
The god thing is it's universal, so you can always
just have a bunch of them in your drawer. It'll
work for any allan wrench situation.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
Oh well most because there are different sizes. That's where
things get interesting. That's why I go to that Swiss
army knife thing as her regis Ferry Tea. But then again,
there's something easier than all of this, a hack. It's
easier than all of this trying to deal with than
allen Ridge. You know, that's to call somebody that you
find on the website task rabbit with the yeah, just

(13:09):
get somebody else to come in and do it for it.
Oh God makes it easier, stress free. You don't have
to call the doctor for anxiety. Meds Kelby and.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
Chilly's nearly impossible question.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
It is the little things, but you have to learn
by doing all right. So this morning, here's the question.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
Nearly forty five percent of people have done this in
a store just in the past week.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
What is it? All right? So if you call now
and you answer that question right, we're going to give
you tickets to see Mary J. Blige Capital Want Arena
in March of twenty twenty five, plus one hundred dollars
visa gift card Much Love to Live Nation for the
tickets to see Mary J. Blige. Us the question again
one more time.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
Nearly forty five percent of people have done this in
a store just in the past week.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
What is it? One hundred dollar gift card, Visa gift
card yours, Mary J. Blige, Capital Want Arena tickets yours.
If you can answer that question correctly, call now play
and win. It's our nearly impossible question. You get it right,
you get the free stuff. The game is on.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
Kelby and Kelly's nearly impossible question.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
Good morning, Kyle and silver Spring. How are you.

Speaker 4 (14:13):
I'm doing finding yourself?

Speaker 3 (14:14):
Just battling a little cold.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
I know the feeling. I've been battling something all week,
but it's finally starting to get a bit better. Anyway,
thanks for calling us. So here comes the question again
one more time, in the event you missed it or
somebody might just now be listening that missed it.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
Nearly forty five percent people have done this in a
store in the past week. What do you think it is?
Paid with cash?

Speaker 2 (14:36):
Have you paid with cash at any given time this week? Sir?

Speaker 1 (14:39):
Actually I have.

Speaker 5 (14:40):
I forgot my wallet and but I keep money in
the call, which I know I shouldn't, and that's how
I paid.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Wow, unbelievable. You actually paid with cash? Do you have
any problems counting out said cash? Coins? Making change? Whatnot?
Or no?

Speaker 4 (14:57):
Well the person did, because you know how, it was
five twenty five and I gave them a quarter and
they're like, oh, you gave me too much.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
They don't know how to give you change. Because they're
used to the machine telling them exactly.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
Well, that's a great guess. It also happens to be correct. Congratulations,
you've won. Thank you. We don't need exact change for
you to take these free tickets to see Mary J.
Blige Capital One Arena in March of twenty twenty five.
And it's one hundred dollars Visa gift card. So if
they can't make change with that, well it was a
gift card, so there was no need to make change anyway. Right.

Speaker 5 (15:31):
Well, I'm going to give it to my granddaughter and
I'm sure she'll spend it all up at one time.

Speaker 3 (15:36):
Oh what a great granddad you are.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
Thank you, Thank you for listening. Congratulations on the win.
With ninety seven point one WASHINGFM Ortoby and Chilly in
the Morning, all.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
The time, every morning, Top Stories, Top of the Hour.

Speaker 3 (15:51):
The man suspected of gunning down the United Healthcare CEO
in Manhattan remains in custody, but the NYPD has serious
concerns about similar crime. Officials note that some people believe
Luigi Mangioni to be a martyr, and they're concerned his
actions could trigger copycat shootings against people in the healthcare
industry and Illinois man is in constandy after allegedly assaulting

(16:13):
South Carolina Congresswoman Nancy Mace inside the US Capital. This
happened just before six o'clock last night. Investigators say the
ray Burn House office building was open to the public
when thirty three year old James McIntyre entered, and that
he successfully passed through a security screening. Virginia leaders they
are pushing for a new FBI headquarters in Springfield. Fairfax

(16:36):
County supervisors say the proposed site is just forty miles
from the FBI's Quantico installation. It's also accessible by Metro
and VRE and is already owned by the federal government.
And today, December eleventh, is the number one day of
the year for breakups. It seems a pressure to invite
people that they're dating to holiday gatherings. Also, feeling rushed

(16:57):
to commit and anxiety about gift are the top relationship
stressors of the season. Forecast board today it's going to
be rainy throughout the day with temps falling to around
fifty seven. Right now, it is fifty nine in Fairfax.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
So I've been fifty for almost a week now, and
I've got to tell you, I've observed something and learned
something brand new, and this this milestone year of my life,
that would be this and maybe you'll agree. The best
gifts are the ones which are priceless. You can't buy
them at a store, you can't get them at the mall,
you can't mail order them on Amazon. Priceless birthday gifts

(17:35):
sometimes straight off of the HGTV that you know you
love to stream. Oh wow, yep, wait till you hear
what this priceless birthday gift is that I got from
my significant other. Tell you all about it coming up.
Maybe you llagreen If you've got thoughts. Eight sixty six
nineteen seven forty three sixty one is the number talk
back microphone wide open for you too. We'll talk in minutes.
So I turned fifty one almost a week ago. It's

(17:56):
ninety seven point one wash FM, and my significant other
gave me a priceless Chris priceless birthday gift that seems
like it was taken straight off of HGTV. We're Toby
and Chilly in the Morning. It's ninety seven point one
wash FM. I knew that she was planning something, and
she was planning on reorganizing something in the house. I

(18:17):
just did not realize she was going to take it
as far as she did.

Speaker 3 (18:19):
Well, you were out of town for two days and
you came back, and what happened.

Speaker 2 (18:23):
Well, the first thing I noticed was that the walls
were painted. I used to have a wall that was
kind of red, and then the others were like the standard.
Now it's some sort of nova futia, kind of calming,
kind of gray blue kind of color. And then there's
an accident wall that's kind of white. She had that painted.
She decluttered everything, moved things around, got rid of the couches,

(18:47):
got some couches that were new to me because I
guess a friend of hers upgraded couch and she brought
them over. Got rid of the literally, got rid of
my mattress, my bed and the bedroom stuff. She literally
cleaned up parts of the kitchen. I mean, she just
you know, she said to me, she's like, you need
a fresh start, And she's right, I do need a

(19:07):
fresh start, because I think that things were starting to
depress me at home. And you know, one of my
with therapists once told me that things in the house
are a sign of things internally at times, and so
this was one small step from me taking a fresh
start that she kind of took upon herself. That HGTV.

(19:29):
This I was saying yesterday to people who were asking, well,
what did you get? And I'm like, imagine Marie Condo
on steroids.

Speaker 3 (19:35):
That's so impressive that she was able to handle all
of that in just a couple of days. And she
may have a side hustle going because she wants to
do that and make some money. I'm happy to pay
her to come and functuate my place.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
Be careful what you wished for, and you just need
to like let her have her way with things. Don't
go worrying about what she's tossed or what kind of
papers might no longer be around. If it looked like clutter,
it probably was, and that clutter is now in the
dump somewhere, or it's been taken to Goodwill for recycling
so it can be upcycled to somebody else who might
be able to use it. But I would never have

(20:09):
been able to do this for myself. It's one of
those things where I just know me, I get too
busy doing things in life and working, and I don't
take the time to live. And she said, you know what,
as part of this fresh start, I'm going to help
you live your life by starting it almost over. Can't
put a price tag on it. I'm still trying to

(20:31):
process all of it. I miss my bed because I'm
tired of sleeping in my daughter's bed. But that's a
different story for a different time.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
That's exactly right. Well, I'm happy birthday.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
Well, I know, and priceless gifts really are the best.
If you've got a priceless gift that somebody gave you,
share it with us. We would love to hear about it.
At eight six six nineteen seven forty three sixty one,
we're Toby and Chilly in the morning. And if you've
got a kid or a child in your life that
ruined a mal Sanna's day, we would love to hear
that story too. We're not going to judge. Eight sixty
six ninety seven four twenty three sixty one is the number.

(21:01):
Feel free to give us a call and tell us
your stories. We're gonna talk more about this mall Santa
and ruining the experience with Santa coming up, and just
a few stay with this time of year, you see
kids crying with the mall Santa. In the photos, you
see kids getting a little ridiculous with the mall Santa
in the photos, They're priceless. These kids are scared of Santa.

(21:23):
It's ninety seven point one. Watch FM Toby and Chilly
in the morning. Those photos become so viral during this
time of year eight sixty six, ninet two, seven forty
three sixty one. And I'll tap to talk back Mike
for if you want it involved, because we would love
to hear from you. How did your kid ruin an
experience a photo session? What have you with Santa?

Speaker 3 (21:42):
Well, I'm sure Santa is used to kids like being
afraid or scared. I'm just not sure other things that
happen that kind of ruined their day. A friend of
mine's baby had a blowout on Santa's lap. He had
to make a quick change.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
Well, I mean that's gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (21:57):
To come back. Well, I'm sure they've got like momultiple
pants in the back, right.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
I think they have like a school for these mall
Santas where it's like prepare for kids to go kids. Mikayla,
good morning, Howard things in Arlington. Thanks for calling to
tell us what happened with you and your kid and
the mall Santa. My child was doing.

Speaker 5 (22:16):
It was going well up until it was actual picture
time my child.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
I don't know what was wrong with them.

Speaker 5 (22:21):
But they pinched Santa and pulled off his glasses. So
now they got a picture of Sannah like ruffling trying
to grab his glasses and like say it ouch.

Speaker 3 (22:33):
And that's the kind of photo that Toby was talking
about that goes viral.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
Don't you go ahead and upload that to Instagram or
whatnot and make sure you tag us Toby Chilly's show
