Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point one.
Why shut out?
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Why are you feeling good before five o'clock this morning?
Call us now at eight sixty six nine two seven
forty three sixty one. It's Friday, Toby and chilly in
the morning, so chilly. Why are you feeling good today
before five?
Speaker 3 (00:16):
Well, we're about to embark on another family vacation.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Very fortunate.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
We're going to be going to the Outer Banks morning.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
So, oh, you're leaving tomorrow morning. I thought for some
reason you were leaving today.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
Well, I'm doing something today that's related to tomorrow morning. Mabbe.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Yeah, laundry. That's typically what it is for me whenever
I have to embark on a weekend get away or
kind of a.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
Thing time out. You were not doing laundry literally twelve
hours before you have to go on a trip. Right,
that's so close to call?
Speaker 2 (00:47):
No, it's not.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Well, maybe if you're just packing for one, it's different.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
It is a lot different when you pack one, Okay,
it really is. Or when you have a kid who
can pack themselves, he's not so much of a kid anymore, right.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Right, Well, you know what maybe one I do recall
those days of being single, and I still never cut
it that close. But I see how it is possible
if you're just packing for yourself.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
Yeah, like if I'm if it's just me and I
know I'm one bag in it, so to speak, carry
on bag, I'll just check it, just to check it,
even though I don't need to, why because I really
don't feel like getting the laundry that I just did out.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
You know, although my husband and I were just talking
about this yesterday. I know I want you to share
why you're feeling good, But we don't have to take
as much stuff now that he's ten years old, you know.
In the past, Yeah, it's like so many pack and
plays and this, like there were built whole hear pieces
and strollers at least were past that.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
SI.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
No, I remember when my daughter was your son's age.
You still have to look in on what they pack,
even though they're starting to want to pack themselves and
take their own stuff. And she's got this whole problem
called I take too many bags itis, But she comes
by it honestly because I used to be the same way.
But I used to date somebody who traveled with an
entire roller bag of hair care products and makeup. Yeah,
(01:56):
it was too much. I'm feeling good this one, and
it's real quick.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
Man.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Kyla has a friend spending the night tonight, and I'm
really kind of happy about it. As much as it
might mean I need to stay in my room more
or whatever I tap out early, I'm happy that she's happy,
you know what I mean. There's nothing better as a parent,
at least to me, and I don't want to get
too parenty, but seeing your kid happy, you know, and
(02:22):
spending time with friends and not being afraid to bring
them over makes me less ashamed of the mess that
is the house at times. But then she cleans, so
I've got to say this. I did not mind at
all getting up last night and having to move my
car so her friend could park, even though it interrupted
my evening routine. You know, because you have a happy kid,
you have a happy life, much like having a happy wife,
(02:43):
although I've never had one of those, which tobe and
chilly in the morning. It is Friday in the Nation's capital.
Coming up next.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Do you suffer from August blues? Apparently it's a thing.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
Yep, it is, and we'll talk about it coming up.
The August blues being that it is the second day
of August. I almost said first, but it's the beginning of
August seven point one watch FM where Toby and Chilly
in the morning. Apparently it's a thing. What are the
cold hard facts?
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Well, because it's signaling the end of summer, it's also okay,
so vacation time potentially over and maybe you didn't get
a chance to go on vacation. The whole being overwhelmed,
back to school, back, all the back to reality scrambling
and scheduling. Some people this time of year it's really tough.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
I mean, I can imagine it being a very expensive
time of year. I know it is for me, and
that's why I get the blues because I'm like, great,
I gotta buy back to school stuff, but great, I've
got to get her things for the dorm.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
You also have to drive your daughter back or get
your daughter back to college. So it's sad to see
her go potentially, I'm guessing it is.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
But I also think too that she and I both
are used to to breaks, you know what I mean,
Like going back to school is a bit of a
break from me and vice versa.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
That's awesome, but uh yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
You know. And yeah, I mean I'm not looking forward
to that, but you know, it is what it is.
I'll get through it. I mean, it's not like I
haven't done it before. What about you, I mean, yeah,
your son's still in school, public school, doing his thing.
Things are about to get real expensive for you.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
It's not even about that. I always would get the
August blues because I do love summer and I love
being outside and doing all the pool things and whatever.
But this year, because of all the heat that we had,
the oppressive heat, I didn't get to do as much
as I wanted. So yeah, I'm okay with it being over.
Like I'm kind of sad, but we didn't get a
(04:24):
milder summer. But yeah, let's get a little cooler in
the fall.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
I mean, it could be worse. There are places in
this country where the kids are already going back to
school or they have done so, so it's you know,
it could be worse. At least you have the rest
of August ahead of you. Yeah, God willing, You'll make
the most of it. Got the August blues? Do you?
How do you cope? How do you get through them?
Do you not have them? Feel free to call us
if you want eight six six wash up n the

your morning mindset. On this Friday morning, August second, it's
ninety seven point one wash FM, Toby and Chile in
(05:10):
the morning. So how are you doing? Hopefully this helps.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
And what is the quote that you're gonna hopefully help
us with.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
I'm gonna butcher the name of this person as show
Osho oh show but a show says, and I quote
discover yourself. Otherwise you have to depend on other people's
opinions who don't know themselves. Think about that, do you
know yourself? Have you discovered yourself? Because until you do,
other people won't really know you and they're in the
same boat as you. So discover yourself, Asho says. Otherwise
(05:39):
you have to depend on other people's opinions who don't
know themselves. Keep that in mind and work on discovering
yourself today and this weekend, so that we can get
to know the you that makes you you. And that's
your morning mindset for this Friday morning. Coming up some
celebrity news. We call it in or do we call
it show business buzz? What's going on in.

to become the first professional musician to ever receive a
statue in the US Capitol. His likeness is going to
be unveiled at the Capital's Emancipation Hall on September twenty fourth,
(07:43):
And that is your showbiz buzz.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
That's very cool to know. Another reason to go downtown
and take something in that's going to be the most selfy,
fantastic statue on Capitol Hill for about probably five years.
Not bad for Johnny Cash The Man in Black ninety
seven point one. Watchm is on. You need more news,

A plane with freed American prisoners from Russia a back
on US soil. Evan Gershkovich, Paul Whalen, and Alsu Kurmashiva
arrived at Joint Bass Andrews late last night. They're among
the sixteen people who were released from Russian detentions after
a negotiated prisoner swap. A man convicted of being a
major drug pin a drug kingpin rather in the DC area,
(08:34):
has been released from prison. Fifty nine year old Rafel
Edmund has been placed at a Nashville halfway house. So
his sentence was reduced because he cooperated with federal authorities
to help convict dozens of other drug dealers. The Prince
George's County Police Department is charging one of its own
officers with animal cruelty. Investigators say a two year old
bloodhound in Corporal David Acosta's care was found with injuries
(08:57):
to her neck and other medical conditions last month. Team
USA now has thirty seven total medals at the Paris
Olympics that include Simone Biles winning gold and Sunny Lee
earning the bronze in the women's gymnastic all around final. Meanwhile,
bethsda and eightive Katie Liddeki is now the most decorated
female swimmer in Olympic history. She added a thirteenth medal
(09:19):
to her colossal collection after the US four by two
hundred meter freestyle relay team took silver. And according to
a recent survey, the average American adult has about four
to five friends, and while seventy five percent are happy
with the number of friends they have, forty two percent
field they aren't as close to their friends as they'd
(09:41):
like to be. Forecast for today, YEP, another heat advisory
noon to eight PM. High's near ninety seven. It'll feel
like one hundred and eight degrees. Chance of showers this evening.
Right now, seventy six in Gaithersburg.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
They need to come correct with those showers. Please call
us all off. That's the news. We're toby and chilly
in the morning. It's ninety seven point one wash FM
just a few minutes say, speaking of the heat, you
ever beat the heat by jumping into the pool. Yes,
that's right. Well, what we're gonna tell you might change
the way you think about that pool water and why
you might want to consider wearing goggles, among other things.
(10:18):
Some research out this morning says that water maybe no bueno.
Stay there and we'll tell you why. Coming up. Okay,
you get into the pool, then you get out and
your eyes are all red. You think it's from the chlorine,
but it's not. Ninety seven point one wash FM Toby
and Chilly in the morning. They did research and they
took a look at the water in the pools. And
(10:39):
while chlorine is a part of the equation, a small
part of the equation, a bigger problem when it comes
to pull water and Chile. I want to get your
take on this. And by the way, you're listening to
us too, so you know the number eight sixty six
ninet two seven forty three sixty one. Bigger problem is
that people go and do their business and that pool
water right numberrow Ullo in the Moroe does.
Speaker 3 (10:59):
And people are not pooping in the water, but.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
We used to when I grew up, they used to
close that pool for like forty five minutes to like
do its thing and shock it because you would think
that the chlorine would be an antibiotic of some sorts.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
At point, you're saying that the eyes are red because
of pea and pooping, dirt.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
And sweat and then a little bit of chlorine. And
that's like, I'm like, no bueno. I'm wearing goggles from
now on. Yeah, I mean, because I don't have time
for anything that's going to cause me that river sinitis.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
I'm shocked that you even open your eyes in the water.
You open your eyes underwater.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
Sometimes it happens.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
I can't see. I wouldn't be able to do that,
So okay, yeah, I won't change anything in our world
because I always assume I'm swimming in other people's stuff.
Like I know it's gross, but whatever. And by the way,
I've taught my son not to put that water in
his mouth, and swimming is just a cool off. I mean,
how much is your head.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
Of course, you have like an open wound somewhere, you
scratched yourself somewhere, and then that junk water, that river
sin water can get into your system. Then you end
up looking like that one Olympic athlete the other day.
After that triathlon, all like losing your lunch because you're sick.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
So you're not going in the pool anymore.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
Now, well, I'm not saying I'm not going to the pool,
but I'm saying I'm changing the way I think about
these goggles. And if I have an open woond, I
want to stay away from them because I don't need
no infections. But I used to me that I would
think that maybe ocean water was a little bit dirtier.
But no, not anymore.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
No, Actually ocean water or saltwater is really good for
a lot of things.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
I mean I my son's doctor who whenever he breaks
out in any kind of pool rash or whatever, and
they're like, well, the ocean's fine. The pool you never
know what those chemera.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
Now yeawn, you know number one, Number two sweat and dirt,
nasty and a little bit of chlorine. Oh the things
you learned. Well, this change your pool habits now that
you know your eyes are red and it's not because
of chlorine. Eight sixty six washed FM the number one.

Woman in Michigan saw a suspicious email in her spam

thousand dollars lottery price. It was she forgot or she'd
been earning second chance drawing entries by playing certain online

Because well, how often are you checking your spam fold.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
Did she miss out completely or did she get the

Speaker 3 (20:56):
Oh, wait a minute, No, she she did get a

Well, hallelujah. But it's a good problem to have. It
just stinks that you didn't know because it was in
your spam folder. And I guarantee you if I knew
I was waiting on something two hundred and something thousand dollars,
the last thing I would do is let they get

He didn't know she was waiting on it. It was
one of these like automatic playthings that she was I guess,
you know, collecting over time, and she didn't. Thank God,
she didn't lose out on it. That's better than finding
money in your pocket. The worst thing that goes. It's
annoying and troublesome. But sometimes I've had heated conversations with
insurance related things. Oh, they insist they sent me, and
(21:40):
I'm like, I don't have it in my inbox, and
it ends up because it was in my spam and
it was important for putting in for payment or something

What about you?
Speaker 2 (21:50):
Yeah, First things first, I'm going to just put it
out there in full disclosure that I am not the
best with things like gift cards. I have a stack
of them, physical them. So I was part of a
clinical trial that paid me with gift cards for each
of my visits and different things and they were at
different levels. And about halfway through the trial, I think
something changed with an email address, like it was, you know,
(22:14):
like gift card at gift card dot com to begin with,
and it became gift card new at gift Cards.
Speaker 3 (22:20):
So it didn't look familiar.

Yep, So my Gmail sticks it in a spam folder.
I had no idea they were in the spam folder,
and I'm like, wait a second, well, geez, activate all

all these gift cards sitting in my spam folder, well crazy.
