Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand onninety seven point one wash out. That
well, before we jump into theperson who's back in the room, let
me just say that something that gaveme joy yesterday a little five o'clock field
grid for me, Toby Nap,the Toby Nap half Toby and Chili in
the morning, is that I wasat home and I made milkshakes at the
house. I don't know when thefirst time or the last time is that

(00:20):
I made milkshakes at the house.I don't recall that there's ever been a
first time, but my significant otherand I made milkshakes after walking and going
to get milk and ice cream andcoming home and doing it, and it
was just one of those moments. You can't take away a great thing from
the weekend, and you've got tostart your week in a positive way.
You're starting it in a positive sortof a way, I would think,

(00:42):
because you're back in the saddle, ladies and gentlemen, Chiliamar is here at
ninety seven point one washing app thenwelcome back. Thank you. I'm trying
to keep a positive attitude. Ishould. I you know, I'm alive
and well and I'm not in anypain. But I still have some surgical
drains off on my body right nowthat I thought would be off by now,
and it doesn't look like they're goingto be off anytime soon. Why

(01:03):
is that that they're not going tobe off anytime soon? So when you
have surgery and you have dreams, they're supposed to help, you know,
get rid of some of the fluidand the blood and all that other stuff.
And I can tell from the colorof one of them, then I'm
not going to get the green lighttomorrow. Well, alrighty, that is
not a good thing. No,I mean it's just tough to sleep with

(01:23):
them. Sure, I can imagine, and they are uncomfortable and they feel
like you know, the holes thatare It's just yes, but I'm not
going to write because what did Isay? I'm not in pain? No,
And that is the most important thing. You have to find a reason
to be joyful. Yes, firstthing in the morning. The fact of
the matter is they took care ofwhat was wrong. They've made some changes.

(01:45):
Yes, there might be potential thingsgoing on, but this is slave
when it comes to life in medicine. Yes, So hopefully everything will go
okay tomorrow. When you go toget a check up and they tell you
what's going on. Otherwise, well, there'll be a K. T.
Harris sitting in that seat more thanlike now, I'll still be here.
I'll just be looking like an octopuswith some oh extra well, I mean

(02:07):
I would as somebody knows a littlebit about using your sick time and I
had to learn the hard way.Don't be afraid to use it. Don't
be afraid to use it anyway. What's got you feeling good this morning?
You know where to find us atAY six six nine two, seven forty
three sixty one talkback microphones wide opentoo. Toby and Chilly in the Morning,
Welcome to Monday, coming up next. You don't like to get certain

(02:29):
calls early in the morning, especiallywhen you're a parent, a pet parent.
Yeah, got one of those callsfirst thing this morning. Tell you
what went down and what's going oncoming up? As Toby and Chilly in
the Morning continues, the moral ofthis story is to not be afraid to
ask for or take help when youneed it. Got a call this morning
from my significant other ninety seven pointone wash FM Toby and Chilly in the

(02:50):
Morning, Nova Luna who's going tobe a year and a couple of weeks
old. She's still kind of apuppy. Is with my significant other tonight
because of a continued potty training. She's on there. Well she's sick.
Oh no, she's a got doggyupset tummy, and she had a couple
of incidents last evening from what Iwas told at one something in the morning

(03:12):
when she called, and I'm atfirst I wanted to stress and wanted to
be freaked out a bit, becauseyou know, we lost Clover last year.
Clover was sick and we didn't knowhow sick Clover was long, how
long he was sick. When yougot a yeah I knew dog, that's
like, oh God, I don'twant to go through it. And you
don't know what the dog got intobecause dogs are dogs. Happened at the

(03:37):
dog park yesterday because it was abeautiful day. But here's what I know.
Everything is going to be okay becauseNova Luna, the morky puppy of
ours, is in good hands withmy significant other. Yes, and the
fact that she's on it and thefact that she was reassuring reminded me of
something that I've not always been thatgood about Chaman taking advice, asking for

(04:00):
help, and being okay with acceptingthe help when I need it, and
I normally would have tried to findsome solution to the problem. You're like,
Okay, she's in good hands withall states, and you know that
chill update you if she needs toupdate you. And the only reason she
called you one something in the morningis because she knows you're up right,
Like it's not like, yeah, yeah, it wasn't like one of those

(04:21):
emergencies like you wouldn't normally wake something. Yeah, but yeah, she knew.
She wanted me to know that thiswas going on. And you know,
at least it's now on my radarscreen in the event that we need
to come up with a pivot planor we need to come up with something,
because she does have more work travelcoming up later on this week,
and so in the time that mysignificant others here, Nova, Luna's in

(04:46):
good hands. Knock on wood, her little tummy will be okay. And
if you're a pet parent and you'vegot some things you want to say,
feel free to send on my way. You can find me at Toby and

(05:09):
ninth day of April. It's ninetyseven point one WASHFM Toby and Chilly in
the Morning. We call this yourmorning mindset. What is the quote you're
going to share with everybody? Well, this comes from the Instagram feed called
It's mentality. Mentality. You oughtto follow them. When you understand the
game, they say, you don'tpanic. When you understand the game,
you don't panic. Now, sometimesthat means understanding that you aren't going to

(05:31):
know everything. Don't panic means sometimesyou're out of control. That's just one
of the rules of the game.Don't panic when you understand the game,
you don't panic. Keep that inmind today and take on your Monday like
a champion because you've already won it. And if you need to share that
with someone who needs to hear it, you'll find it at the Toby and

survey Chili, the average adult hasonly three true friends that they can rely
on. Despite having this claim thatthey've got sixteen friends at least that they

(10:07):
can count on and potentially hundreds moreon social media. Well, social media,
I don't think really count No.No three? Wow? Does that
seem high or low? When youlook at your own life personally? It
seems low. I believe. Ibelieve that. I do. I think
that there are people that have comealong the way in life who once they're

(10:31):
in, they're in like Flynn, and they will stay friends regardless, and
they can be professional or personal. But nonetheless those friendships transcend what about you,
So it's a little different. Igrew up very close to my cousins,
like the female cousins in my life, and we all live in the
DC area, so they were kindof my playmates and my friends, so

(10:54):
that doesn't count. Outside of them, I have maybe three because true friend
I don't know what anyone's definition is, but that true friend means through thick
and thin, in good and bad, judgment and judgment free, all that
stuff. So I don't know whatyour definition is, but yeah, I
don't know. Maybe my family.I know that I'm closer to my friends

(11:16):
than I am to my brothers, and that's probably not okay because family's family,
and they say you can't choose family. But nonetheless, if I really
wanted that whole non biased, justI'm gonna be frank and honest with you,
but I'm gonna love you any waykind of advice, yeah, I'd
go to my like really true friends. That's great, which isn't for everybody
I know. But still, hey, even if you have one true friend,

(11:39):
consider yourself blessed because one is silverand the other's goal. That's well,
that's more than one friend. Butanyway, you know what I mean.

that you don't think could be theultimate setting for a great date? And
it is? This happened over theweekend to tell you where it was,
what went down, who had happenedtoo, and why it was so spectacular.
And there's an admission too that well, I'm a little bit ashamed to
make coming up next to Toby andChilly in the morning. Continue stayed up

(16:08):
Toby and Chilly in the morning ninetyseven point one wash CHFM eight sixty six
ninet two seven forty three sixty oneis the number. Have you ever gone
to a place which you wouldn't reallyexpect to be the plus for a great
date, only to find that itwas? You know, I'd like to
think that I'm not too different thantoo many other people. I used to
think until this weekend that you know, the idea of a date placemant,

(16:30):
a place with tablecloths, a nicerestaurant, a nice ambiance, a nice
experience, maybe candles and such. You and your girlfriend have been together for
years, you still, three fouryears into it, would want that kind
of establishment. That's well, Imean, I just think today you're gonna
if you're gonna go out, andyou're gonna do up the town, you
go up to do up the townif you're gonna go out on a date.

(16:52):
At least, that's what I usedto think. Never did I ever
think that I would find that theperfect date place was at Shakeshack, a
place I'd never been to before. You'd never trust me, you have never
as much as I've known about shakeShack, and I've heard about everybody talking
about their hamburgers, and I knowthat the stuff that goes into their meat
from YouTube rabbit holes. Is thisstuff of legend and that they're smashed this

(17:15):
such a way. I just didnot have that on my list of places
for really good date night dates. Then how did it come up? Like?
What made you want to take yourgirlfriend to the We were shopping at
Giant and she whipped out her creditcard and covered the bill and she's like,
well, you know, next weekyou can just take me, I
don't know, someplace for a date. We can go to shake Shack.
And that's you know, at first, I thought she was just being like

(17:36):
facetious, like saying, hey,you know, I don't have to go
to expensive places for us to god, I just want to spend time with
you. Well, I thought tomyself, you know what, that's a
good idea, and I've kind ofsaid something dismissive and I was like,
well, you know, I've neverbeen to shake Shack before. I hear
it's great, so you know what, maybe we should go to shake Shack.
Well ended up going to that shakeShack over the weekend. And did
it change your mind? What aboutthe experience of going to one of these

(17:57):
fast, adual places for a datewith your girlfriend made you change your mind?
The food was great. Yes,the conversation was even better. The
company was even better. I shouldsay I don't know that the conversation was
great because I feel like sometimes thingscan get a little whatever, we get
a little bit distracted by life andsuch. But nonetheless, the company was

(18:18):
great. The food was great.I'd never experienced it before, and that's
why I was like, Wow,that was a really good day. So
are you now more open to,even though you've been together for several years,
going to places like that on adate, Because at the end of
the day, it's about the companythat it shouldn't matter if it's McDonald's.
Are this more open about it thanI was after last week? I will

(18:41):
say this though, don't get ittwisted. Not every fast casual place or
fast food restaurant gets a place onthe list, but Shakeshack does. Okay,
because Shakeshack. I mean, let'sjust say, I did not understand
what there was about Shakeshack until Iactually had some shake Shack shake and some
fries, and I'm like, wow, that is a tasty burger. That's
a roya WICHI yuh, But whoknew? Who knew? The things you

(19:06):
learned when you least expect life toteach you some lessons. Is there any
place that may not be a date, place that everybody would like, but
that you love? What is it? Tell me all about it eight sixty
six nine two three sixty one,or tap the talk back microphone. It's
wide open. There's no place that'swrong. Just want to hear what's right
for you because it might inspire somethingthat could go right for us. Speaking
of things that have gone right.Coming up in just minutes, a story

(19:29):
that we think might just make yourMonday here at ninety seven point one WASHFM.
I mean, it's prom season andthere's a high school in Northern Virginia
that's helping make prom dresses affordable foreverybody. Stay there and hear even more
is Toby and Chilly in the Morning. Continue now, it's up for a
story that we think might just makeyour Monday. To Northern Virginia. We
go, and in case you missedit, prom season has been in full

(19:52):
swing for high schools all over theDMV. Yes, and one of the
things that can be stressful is findingthe perfect dress to wear. And you
know, if you've been shopping recently, those dresses are not cheap. Oh
no, and you thought the promprosal was tough. No, think about
once you've said yes, and thenyou have to get the dress. Then
you have to get the perfect shoes. Then there's the hair. Well,
there's an organization that's helping to defraythe cost of that prom dress. And

(20:18):
they did it again this year.So these are the marketing students from Centerville
High School and the Farokhs classroom onthe mall program where they opened their prom
dress shop for prom season for severalweekends in April, for not just students
at Centerville High but any student inthe DMV who can't afford a dress.
Now, look at everything that youlearn because of what's going on. Number

(20:41):
one, these students they got toaccomplish several things all at once. One
marketing lessons to a real world environment. People need prom dresses and they needed
them to be affordable too. Theysupported the school board's goals of making sure
that every student finds success beyond theclassroom through a portrait of graduate skills,

(21:03):
which includes communication, collaboration, criticalthinking, global citizenship skills, and more.
All of this was on display atthis prom shop. And we also
can't ignore the fact that Macy's hada lot to do with us, because
they were the ones who donated hundredsof new dresses for this program. And
here's the thing. While it mighthave been happening at Centerville High School,
or it might have been help happeningin Northern Virginia, anybody from anywhere can

(21:26):
buy a dress, not just thosefrom Fairfax County schools. And that was
an incredible, incredible thing. SoCenterville High School, Fair Oaks Classroom,
thank you for doing this since twothousand and six. Thank you for doing
it again this year and for givingus a story that really does make our
Monday. And if you want toread this story, maybe you've got one

Toby and Chili in the Morning continuesat five eleven on this Monday, Toby
and Chilly in the Morning at ninetyseven point one Wacha FM, thank you
so much for letting us be apart of your Monday. Chili. In

(24:00):
fact, you had a medical procedure, give us an update. How did
everything go? And I would saythat I think it went well because you
are here this morning. Yes,it was almost a textbook repair of a
breast implant rupture. Now, Ihad a mastectomy and one of the implants
had to be repaired. The surgeryitself, I guess took about an hour,
and after I got out, myhusband informed me that there was a

(24:22):
little mishap in the middle of thesurgery. Apparently after a surgery or during
a surgery, they need to makesure that all the equipment and all the
things that belong in a r areaccounted for sure, because one doesn't want
to have something inadvertently left inside ofone's body, like a packet of sponges.
Well, that might be a thingthat you might not want inside of

(24:44):
your body. So at some pointtowards the end of the surgery, they
can't find a bag of sponges,okay, And the doctor's like, I
know it's not in her I knowit's not there. Let's just look around
whatever, Like, no, wegot to order it an X ray.
So when they ordered the x ray, somebody did eventually see it in the
trash can. But at that pointit's too late, right, right,

(25:06):
So they did an X ray.Obviously there's nothing in there. They were
right, there's nothing wrong, andI chuckled. Of course that happened.
Yeah, they of course they hadto stop what you were doing to make
sure there were no sponges inside. But here's what I'm really wondering and correct
me if I'm wrong, But Ishould not have to pay for that X
ray. That better not be onthe bill. I don't know how that

(25:26):
works. I can't pretend to knowhow that works. But I just know
this. The insurance game is agigantic scam of lameddinge dong. Like.
There are so many different levels tothis, to that, to the other
thing, and the one thing Iknow for sure. And actually, you
made a joke about this, actuallywhen I was coming out of the hospital
last time, and I made areference to the fact that I kept the
socks, the hospital socks that theygive you, and You're like, yeah,

(25:48):
well, you probably paid for thosethirty five dollars. And I'm like,
you know what, You're probably rightexactly, But ask me if I
took the time to go back andlook, no, I can't believe you
would actually ask an out ofized receipt. Oh yeah I would. The X
rays are cheape, you kidding me? Now? The sponges, that's one
thing, But I'm not letting youcharge me for them X rays. I
don't know about the peace of mindthough, that comes from knowing you don't

(26:11):

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
