Toby and Chilly Mornings on demand onninety seven point one Chef Toby and Chilly
in the Morning, ninety seven pointone Wash FM. Feeling good today,
I hope. So I'm feeling goodthis morning because I got to spend time
with family and it's the first timeI've spent some really good, just quality
time with family in a minute. So why am I feeling good before five

(00:21):
o'clock this morning? Family? Andyou, how are you doing this morning?
I'm doing well. You sound abit congested or something happening there with
you. Yeah, it's called travel. There's a lot of people traveling.
And you know, anytime you getthat many people in any given place,
I mean there's still things floating aroundin the world. It is what it

(00:41):
is, you know. I justwish that I would have probably preemptively taken
more like vitamin C or some sortof something to D three, yeah,
anything, or some sort of likewellness show, especially for like respiratory things.
D three is is a very veryeffective. Yeah, it's a total
respiratory that's going on, and Ican't I can't determine whether or not it's

(01:03):
a fever or it's a It's justlike from a lot of sun. But
like you know, I don't feelfeverish. I just you know, it
just is what it is. Butyou know what, that's why God invented
dake will. So hopefully you're doingwell today, long holiday weekends, shaking
it off, getting into this Tuesdaymorning, May twenty eighth. Here at
ninety seven point one wash FM,Tllby and Tilly in the Morning coming up

(01:27):
next. What's going on this morning? I'm trying to convince my husband of
a new fashion look and I needyour help in doing it. All right,
Well, I'll do my best totry to help. And if you've
got thoughts and opinions, because yourvoice matters, here at ninety seven point

Here at ninety seven point one washFM eight's three sixty one talk back microphone
wide open, Chili. You wantto ask us about a wardrobe decision,
for your husband this morning. What'son your mind? Hawaiian shirts? Okay?
And the reason this came up iswe bought our ten year old a

(02:13):
really nice, cute Hawaiian shirt forthe summer, and my husband thought,
oh, you know what, maybeI should get one. So I went
ahead and got him one, andhe's like, great, I'll just wear
this on the cruise or when wego to the beach this summer, right,
And I have nothing wrong with that, Nope. But I also said,
this looks so good on you.Don you could wear this when we
go out just to go out, like to dinner, whatever, Like it's

(02:35):
better than the polo short. Thepolo shirt is his costume. It's called
Tommy Bahama. That was my entireFlorida wardrobe. When I worked for iHeartRadio
in Florida, everything in my closetwas Tommy Bahama. And when I'm not
wearing some sort of a baseball jersey, it's a Tommy Bahama. Yeah,
beach kind of hybrid Hawaiian shirt. My husband would say, yeah, but

(02:57):
that's Florida. This is Vienna. No, it's Tommy Bahama. Doesn't just
sell to Florida, but it doesn'thave to be Tommy Bhama, any Hawaiian
shirt. Look, you're agreeing, then it can be yes, and you
have to like remove the thought fromyour mind that Hawaiian shirt means floral print.
No, it's not. You know, it could be a solid I
mean, you know there's any numberof places that make great Hawaiian shirts,

(03:21):
from Tommy Bahama to Vin yourd vinestoo. He just needs to get over
that weird mental block of equalling beachware. No, it's totally not beachwhere
in fact, it's it's it's Imean they're linen. I mean they feel
nice. I mean they they're perfectfor summertime because they're light, just wearing
undershirt, especially if he sweats.I love. I'm so glad you said

(03:42):
that because I'm going to make surehe gets your feedback on there. Yeah.
Oh it's not just me, dude. I love Hawaiian shirts. I
love I love Tommy Bahama. It'slike a thing. Ninety seven point one

Chili, I understand you had somepool memories you wanted to share with
the class this morning here at ninetyseven point one WASHFM, So what's on
your mind? We thought the highlightwas going to be finally getting into the

(14:33):
pool after waiting for five years. But no, think about the first time
you were able to swim in agrown up pool unsupervised. That's what happened
to our ten year old after allthese years of lessons, he finally did
it. But that wasn't even themost shocking part. The ride of passage.
Jumping off a diving board. Terrifyingas it may be, he did

(14:58):
it, And you think back towhen you walk to the ledge of that
diving board and look down the firsttime, didn't it seem like you were
gonna jump off a cliff. No. I just kind of jumped in.
But then again, I was kindof raised in the water. I was
on a swim team when I waslike younger than your son, so like.
But there was always the first time. The diving board is different than
just swimming. You're higher up,you look down, that water is deep.

(15:22):
You don't know what's gonna happen whenyou go in. It's a leap
of faith literally, or no,maybe not for you. It was more
like a cannon ball. Was thatyour first move? I want to think
it was that was off the highdive. Oh, it's a heck of
a lot better than a belly flop, which that you will not get over
very easily close enough. It wasjust not yeah, And once the diving

(15:46):
board seal is broken, you justcan't get a kid off of that thing.
I mean, it's like you goover and over again, and then
they start to do little tricks onthat thing. But very cool because that
means that the grown ups can safelyup tend to the other thing is on
the sidelines and not have to worryso much about the kiddos. And then
what are you gonna do? Andit's Mom? Can we go to the
poll? Mom? Can we goto the pool? Mom? We're going
to the pool today. Mom,We're gonna go to the pool. Mom.

(16:07):
Can we go to the pool today? Son? It's only Wednesday?
Mom? Can we go to thepool again today? Mom? Can just
take a book in a beverage. It's all good now eight six six,

crazy first date stories coming up injust a few minutes, Fatima from Alexandria.
Literally, you know that song froma back in the eighties, Head

Let's just say that's the theme forthis story that you will hear in minutes.
Do not go anywhere. It's Tobyand Chilli's crazy first day in Alexandria.

(16:53):
Fatima. Go ahead, Well, about forty years ago, was going
to school at Northern Virginia Community College. I walked into the classroom looking for
a left handed seat because I'm lefthanded, and as I'm rearranging the seats,
he walks in and he looks atme, like, what are you
doing? So I'm left handed,I always look for a left handed seat
and she's like, I'm left handedtoo. So we kind of started talking.

(17:15):
Eventually he ended up asking me ona date. So we went to
Great Falls, Virginia. We wentthrough the rocks and we had a wonderful
time. And in between all ofthat, I ended up slipping and falling
into the water and hurt my ankle. He had to take me and lift
me and kind of pull me upthe rocks and walk to our car,
which was about half a mile orso away, and took me to Fairfax

(17:37):
Hospital, where he stayed with me, and they had to bandage the ankle
and take care of it. Fortunatelyhe wasn't broken. But we went to
dinner and we spent time talking.Eventually we ended up dating for a while
and eventually moved in together and gotmarried and a wonderful daughter, and it
was great. Did he ever haveto carry you ever again? I mean

(17:59):
you were closing person in general? Was that a one off thing when you
guys were hiking in grateful No.The only time he ever carried me in
when he carried me through the specioldof our first house. Oh see,
is hiking still a thing for you, Fatima? No? I go hiking
all the time. Sometimes it comeswith me and sometimes not. Every time
I got a great follows, Itell people this is where I fell,
you know, and they're like, okay, you literally fell head over heels

a hold of this too if you'relistening to ninety seven point one WASHFM signed
in on your iHeart app this morning. I cannot believe we're having this conversation
where you did not take precautions oryou didn't take enough precautions, Which is

(21:14):
it, Welchley, you know listen, I mean you know that last year
was a very interesting year for meand I spent a lot of time away
from the beach and not out inthe sun. Well, somewhere along the
way I forgot that I well gaveup some time in the sun being used
to the sun, and my seasonedbeach goer status went out the window.

(21:38):
I applied sunscreen, but let's justsay the sun waited for no one.
While I was in Texas, andI went to the beach like I owned
the place. Promptly fell asleep andnow I applied sunscreen. But when I
woke up, I was like, ooh, because you missed a spot that
you couldn't reach. Because that's alwaysthe frustrating part is when you apply it

(21:59):
to yourself and you don't get whereis where did you burn yourself the most?
Is it your arm pits. Ifell asleep on the beach and I
used my hands like a pillow. This is at Porto Ransas, Texas.
And then when I dream too, when I came to, I was like,
oh god, oh, and Icould feel the burn happening. And

(22:22):
then I realized, oh boy,the sun waits for no one, and
I have not spent enough time inthis sun. My mistake was thinking that
I was just going to be capableof handling the Texas sun. In the
Texas well, since you just gotback from Hawaii, you one would think
that if you didn't burn in Hawaii, that you'd be fine in Texas.
Felt different in Hawaii, and yourpits were protected in hawaiilt different in Hawaii.

(22:45):
My pits were protected in Hawaii.I didn't fall asleep on a beach
in Hawaii. I just here's thebottom line. If you're going to go
to the beach and you didn't gothis weekend, and maybe you might think
I'm wrong, and if you do, feel free to call. Remember it's
been a minute probably since you've beenin the sun. You've got to build

(23:07):
up that sun resistance again. Yes, or you need to slather SPF one
hundred all over your body liberally.Yes. That is the long story short
of my vacation for the holiday weekend. Thank you bos Lerman. Yeah,
