Speaker 1 (00:00):
Toby and Chili mornings on demand on ninety seven point one.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Whut, there's always a reason to feel good before five
brand new Day, ninety seven point one wash FM, Toby
and Chili in the morning. So it makes sense to
start the day by talking about what feels good. And
I can tell you that I feel absolutely good that
I did not have any inaugural.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Festivities to go to.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
I have in the past, I've been dragging the whole
day afterwards. It's the point where I used to call
in sick or take off. Last night, I slept like
a baby. Had nothing on the agenda, no inaugural ball situations,
and it didn't bother me one bit because I slept.
That's nice priorities. Why are you feeling good today?
Speaker 4 (00:38):
We had my eleven year old's dental cleaning appointment yesterday
and we may have found a practice that he actually likes.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
How many have you been through? Four? Four of them?
Speaker 5 (00:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (00:49):
Wow?
Speaker 4 (00:49):
I mean, you know, when you have a special needs
kid with sensory stuff going on and all this other stuff,
you gotta find the right chemistry. I don't know how
else to put it, but we may have found the one.
Like don't say you might drinx it, you know, what,
to hell with that. I'm going to celebrate a win.
Why we had a good cleaning appointment yesterday.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
When you can find exactly right, that's what this is,
especially when it comes to dentist. Because here's the one thing.
Special needs kids not special needs kids. I don't know
any kid who likes the dentists. This is true, because
they end up pulling things out. No, it's not fun. No,
that reminds me I need to call a dentist because
oral health is just as important to your physical health
(01:29):
as anything else. So if you if your mouth is
not well, then everything else can go sideways.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
SOPs to go every six months? How long has it been?
Speaker 6 (01:37):
Like?
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Not that long?
Speaker 6 (01:38):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (01:38):
Okay, but I recall it. No, no, no, but I
recall something.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
I recall a sign when I was growing up in
my dentist office that had like some indigenous person dentist
who said, remember, go to see the dentist every every
new moon. I said, if it's four times a year?
Though I don't know, I don't know, I don't moons.
I really do care about what insurance will cover. And
that's about it.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
I'll play the cope out of pocket coming up in
a few minutes with Toby and Chilly in the morning
on this Tuesday, the twenty first day, oh January, we
want to talk to you about how you're doing with
your diet and your new year's resolution to kind of
stay away from certain foods.
Speaker 4 (02:16):
I mean, yeah, what's derailing it? Really? What is derailing
this goal of yours?
Speaker 2 (02:20):
Eight sixty six nineteen seven forty three sixty one to
jump in now talkback. Microphone is wide open on your
iHeart app. Thank you for making us preset number one.
By the way on your iHeart app. If you're listening

What's killing your diet could be anything. I know it's
probably a little personal for us to be talking about
this early in the morning, but when you think.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
About it, you do have to plan for the day.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
Yeah, and sometimes those dietary restrictions can be a pain,
and sometimes you just throw them out the window, and
that's when you start to kill your diet. Sometimes it's
blamed on a certain food or something you love.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
So what might that be for you?
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Eight six six ninety two, seven forty three sixty one
is the number.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
It's the fact that we have this schedule right, Like
sleep or lack of sleep would kill anybody's diet. And
if you're up this early listening to.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Us, there's a chance you're not getting of zas.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Yeah, chances are good you didn't go to bed at
like seven o'clock last night.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
What about you?
Speaker 4 (03:28):
When I eat it ruins your diet or breaks your diet?
Speaker 2 (03:30):
What breaks the diet for me or is more or
less the fact that all of the food that I
used to really love to eat because I thought it
was high in protein also has a lot of other
stuff going on with it that's not good for me,
like salt. And so it's like all of this stuff
that I loved to eat like a month or two ago,
I can't eat now, and that is just killing me.
(03:51):
And there are times when I want to throw it
out the window, the diet idea out the window. Then
I realized that conversely, I could get really sick and
I don't want Toby and Chilly in the Morning at
ninety seven point one wash FM Leslie, Good morning in Columbia.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
What about you?
Speaker 6 (04:06):
Bread? Bread is my arch, my arch enemy, It's my nemesis.
It's everywhere, and it's so delicious, warm bread with but
I even went to a place for lunch and just
got a chicken salad. It came with like this warm
garlic butter slices on it and stuff.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
I'm telling you, it's the devil.
Speaker 6 (04:26):
Oh my god, it's so delicious.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
Not all bread is created equal, but if you have
to have it, sour dough is the way to go.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
Will Power just say no in Warrentons sue go ahead.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
I'm three months postpartum and my husband has.
Speaker 5 (04:40):
An addiction to ice cream.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
His addiction to ice cream is not doing anything for
helping me lose the weight that I need to lose.
Speaker 4 (04:47):
Is there a specific brand.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
Any Tolenti ice cream, whatever exotic flavor Tolenti comes out with.
Speaker 5 (04:53):
He's on top of it.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
Now that to lenty is indeed good ice cream.
Speaker 2 (04:57):

life meaningful.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
We all, for.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
Whatever reason, face challenges. They could be challenges that you
just step into. They could be challenges you bring about
on your own. They could be challenges that other things
around you out of your control bring. It doesn't matter

and after about a minute, she then announced to the crowd,
well you know the words, help me out here, and
went into an a cappella version of America the Beautiful

Speaker 4 (08:22):
The frigid temperatures outside forcing some local schools to close
are open late today, so Fakier and Lowney County schools
are closed. Meanwhile, Montgomery, Prince George's and Fairfax County schools
are operating on a two hour delay. You can see
the full list of delays and closings at washfm dot
com slash Closings. President Trump announced a series of executive
(08:46):
orders his first day in office, including declaring a national
emergency at the southern border, ending birthright citizenship, recognizing only
two sexes, and withdrawing from the World Health Organization. He
also pardoned around fifteen hundred people who were convicted in
the January sixth riots. Another order signed by the President
(09:09):
requires federal employees to return to full time in office work.
City leaders, of course, have been advocates for this because
they're hoping it boosts downtown businesses and increases tax revenue.
COSTCO could face a strike if it doesn't reach agreement
on a contract with its eighteen thousand union members. The
Teamsters union says company profits are up one hundred and
(09:31):
thirty five percent since twenty eighteen and union members deserve
a piece of that. And a new study finds that
tap water is actually a healthier choice than bottled water
because there's so much more regulation on tap water. Researchers
also suggest that some plastic from the bottles is actually
consumed with the water, which can cause a variety of
(09:52):
health risks. Forecasts for today there is a cold weather
advisory in effect through ten o'clock Thursday morning. Otherwise cloudy. Hew,
it's only getting up to twenty today. Right now, it's
ten degrees in Nokesville.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Over the last few days, Instagram's been rolling up brand
new features for people who use the app. Interesting the
timing right around that whole TikTok debacle. But anyway, there's
one new feature that has people wondering is this for
making connections or is this snooping on the part of Instagram?
Does it enable a user a friend to snoop on
(10:25):
another friend. Tell you what the feature is and how
you can look out for it. Coming up is toobey
and Chilly in the Morning continues on a Tuesday right now, tell.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
Me, surely, really impossible question.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
Why are you playing? You're supposed to be a pause? Sorry?
Speaker 2 (10:39):
Now you can set your favorites on your new art app.
If you don't have it, get it for free your
favorite app store. Instagram's got a new feature. We're Toby
and Chilly in the Morning here at ninety seven point
one WASHFM at eight sixty six nine two seven forty
three sixty one. But is this new feature connecting or snooping?
Give us a call and let us know what you
think this feature that's been rolled out over the last
(11:00):
few days. Well, now, let your friends see the videos
that you watch on reels without you knowing that they
know that you know what they've been watching.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
Okay, so can you summarize this for me in ways
that I can understand what you.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
Long story short, I can tell when you're watching videos
that are a little goofy, a little bit weird. Maybe
they're things that bring you pleasure that some people might
make fun of. Maybe they're things you don't want people
to know you're watching. Well, now with this new feature
on Instagram, you'll be able to know, regardless of whether
you want people to know or not.
Speaker 4 (11:33):
What is instagram saying is the benefit of being able
to see all the stuff your friends are watching.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
It fosters connections, It helps you to know them better.
In the age of reels, yes, that's right, we love
to know and you watch all the Puppy Dog the
Golden Retriever reels that float around even if you know
you don't want me to know you're watching them.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
What's so bad about having people know that I like
to watch recipe videos.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
I know that there's I don't know that there's anything
inherently wrong with that. It's what you don't want people
to know you're watching. And everybody has a right to
their own privacy. Now that's that's not to say you're
watching a bunch of weird stuff. If you were watching
some kind of weird stuff, that's between you and your creator.
That's not any of my vision on Insta anyway, but
(12:19):
it is now and you don't have a choice, so
your friends can find out what you've been watching, which
removes that right to I don't know your own personal
space from social media.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
So like, this change is not going to change anything
for me. I don't care if people know what I'm watching?
Speaker 3 (12:36):
Are you?
Speaker 4 (12:37):
Are you going to stop using Instagram as much because
now everyone can peep to see what other content you're
looking at?
Speaker 2 (12:43):
Not really, but it does make me wish that there
was just because I believe in privacy. It makes me
wish there was a way I could turn it off
without screwing up the algorithm or the app. Oh yeah,
And I don't think that they have that yet. I
haven't dug into that enough, but I don't believe that
they do because it's a new feature, and why would
you want to turn off a new feature?
Speaker 3 (13:00):
Sure, just out of the gate, you don't think we.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
All need to buckle up because now that TikTok has
shown how desperately everybody needs that app, people are going
to try to compete with everything that TikTok is doing
to bring you an option.
Speaker 3 (13:14):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
And it's all about data and all about your business.
What can they put in front of you that will
make you want to buy something? Welcome to the age
of privacy. It's now out the window for ninety seven
point one wash FM thoughts.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
Feel free to chime in.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
Kelby and Chilly's nearly impossible question.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
In the meantime, chime in with an answer to this question,
and you could win some stuff this morning.
Speaker 3 (13:36):

Speaker 4 (13:36):

Speaker 2 (14:25):

one hundred dollars Trousseau gift card.
Speaker 4 (14:29):
Fifteen of these are eaten every five seconds around the world.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
What is it?
Speaker 1 (14:36):
I think it's a banana.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
The banana. Why do you feel that? That is the answer.
Speaker 6 (14:40):
We had those for breakfast every morning growing up.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Bananas are actually good for you, full of potassium, they
help deliver. Don't ask how I know I might have
some bananas in a bag over here.
Speaker 4 (14:51):
That's an excellent guess, Glenn. It's also the correct answer
this morning.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
Also, congratulations, you're going to go to Trusseau with a
hundred dollar GUS card to get yourself a little something
something as.
Speaker 3 (15:02):

riots are now the recipients of presidential pardons. President Trump
is also withdrawing from the World Health Organization, and he
also called for a federal higher freeze, as well as
the return of government workers back to the office now.
(16:06):
Those who are hoping to attend the inaugural parade for
Trump left a bit of a mess outside Capital One Arena.
Piles of purses, bags and backpacks were left outside by
those who were trying to get in because they were
apparently unaware of the venue's strict bag policy. Drivers are

Vice President Vance attending. Also, the Senate unanimously confirmed Florida

Is there something you wish your kid was into but
maybe isn't for whatever reason? Eight sixty six nine two
seven forty three sixty one is the number. We're going
to talk about this coming up in just a few
minutes because Chilli's husband wishes their son would do something
with dad, something that all dads enjoy doing with sons.
But alas what what's going on, you'll find out in
(17:37):
just a few minutes. Stay with Toby and Chilly in
the morning, won't you please? Now, this is something everybody
can relate to. If you're a parent, and if you're
not a parent, just listen to this because this is
what parents actually go through. It's a look into the
mind of those who have chosen to bring kids into
their lives. Toby and Chilly in the Morning, It's ninety
seven point one wash FM. There are times you wish
your kid was into certain things, sporting events, different hobbies, activity,
(18:00):
And I take it chilly you are feeling this personally
this morning because your son is not into some stuff
your husband is into.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
So my husband, when we first had our son, was
dreaming of the day when Donado would be old enough
to go and watch the Capitals with him or The
Commanders with him on television. And now that he's eleven
years old and has shown absolutely zero interest, don is
giving up on that dream. And it's not like we
want our kid to be an athlete, but there's something
(18:29):
to be said about not creating a core memory that
you were hoping for by watching games on television.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
Well, you know that's the thing about trying to create memories.
When you try to create them, they don't happen. There's
still time. You just can't force him to like things
at the speed that you would like him to want
to like them at.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
You know what I meant. If that was the case,
I think my husband could be patient. But our kid
is showing absolutely zero interest in sitting and watching a game.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
Got opinions eight sixty six nine two seven forty three
sixty one is the number in Elicant City.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
Robert, what's up.
Speaker 5 (19:02):
I wish my kid played golf just because of the
popularity of it now. And I remember, you know that,
always being like a king sports oriented, and I think
playing golf would have been better for all my kids.
So they were all great athletes, but they all played
team sports.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
It's a really good point. I grew up on a
golf course and learned how to play at a very
young age. Golf is very one on one but again
it's something that I chose to learn to do.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
But it's also very expensive sports to support it can be.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
Yes, Scott Thoughts, you know where to find us at
eight sixty six nine two, seven forty three sixty one.
You set us as preset number one on your iHeart app.
So you used to talk back microphone while you're checking
it out and jump into the conversation about something that
you wish your kid was into. Give us a call.
We'll talk after eight of the meantime next day there
because we're gonna go to New Carrollton for this crazy
(19:50):
first date story. Somebody brought along a little extra something
on a date.
Speaker 4 (19:55):
Yeah, Chris was shocked when her date pulled out this
little friend from a gift bag.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
Stay with us, find out what it was and how
the date went in minutes.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
Kelly and Chilly, it's crazy first.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
Day from New Carrollton.
Speaker 2 (20:08):
Chris, good morning, Tell Chilly and I all about this
crazy first date a venture you went on.
Speaker 6 (20:14):
We're having lunch and the guy pulls out a little
gift bag. In my mind, I'm thinking, belly, If he's
a gift for me, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
So he decides that we would have salad.
Speaker 5 (20:23):
I said sure. He asked the waiter for an.
Speaker 6 (20:25):
Extra plate, and finally when the salad turns, he says, oh,
I have a friend here.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
He said, this is my pet. You take for the turtle,
and he puts extra salad on the plate and the
turtles begins.
Speaker 5 (20:35):
To eat the salad.
Speaker 4 (20:37):
He pulled a turtle out of the bag, a little
turtle that he gives me the name but because it
was she or.
Speaker 6 (20:43):
Some name like that, And I said, oh, that's your pet,
and he says, yes, I take her everywhere.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
Do you like her?
Speaker 6 (20:50):
I said sure?
Speaker 5 (20:52):
Then I said you know what I think.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
I left my card open and I.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
Left this and you just ghosted. The dude in his
emotional support turtle.
Speaker 5 (21:00):
I'm so sorry. I ghosted him with that.
Speaker 4 (21:03):
That's definitely different pulling a turtle out of a bag
and feeding it lettuce. But did he try to reach
out to you being like, hey, where'd you go?
Speaker 1 (21:09):
Well, he's called next him. I don't know what I
said by this day, but I just never called him.
Speaker 5 (21:14):
Sit him again.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
Yeah, what do you say? The dude pulled out a turtle.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
You know, I'm not knocking emotional support in him, but
maybe it was an emotional support turtle for this guy.
Speaker 3 (21:23):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (21:24):
For me, it was a dealbreaker. I never did tell
him again.

the reason why is well, because Chili's having an issue
at home. Her husband is feeling bummed because her son's
just not into watching sports.

Yeah, that's a core memory that he was hoping to create,
and unfortunately our kid is just not into watching any
Caps games or Commander's game.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Sometimes that happens with kids. I've noticed it happens when
you try to make a memory. Sometimes when you try
to make a memory, you end up running into the

Smash the play he does a latch, shape it or
go through any of the rest of the process.

gets into it.

Yes, because you can never have too many clay ashtrays
in the house.

So your kid's just being a kid. Thanks for jumping

Which reminds me, you know what, It would be nice
if my kid took up some piano lessons.
Speaker 2 (23:23):
Well, yeah, you ever heard of the International School of Music.
