Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point
one WASHM.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
We are happy you're here with us on a Thursday morning.
It's Toby and Chile in the Morning, ninety seven point
one wash FM. I'm kidd O'Shea. Now.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
I don't know if you noticed after you left here
yesterday morning, when you took a ride share to the
TV station at Channel seven, did traffic seem different to
you because the government shut down the Beltway yesterday? Going
to Tyson's it was considerably faster. And I don't know
(00:34):
if that was just a fluke or if it's related
to the workforce not going in the regular time.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
People don't know your commute. You go from Janna to Rockfille,
Rockfield to Vienna. Yeah, so it can take you sometimes
on the way home from work because.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Of the construction on the Beltway, it takes me almost
an hour.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
Normally with no construction and regular traffic, it was used
to take me like thirty five minutes, and yesterday it
just took me thirty five minutes, which was like, Ah,
what's this? And then and then it hit me, I'm like, oh,
you forget that. So many federal workers live right here
in the DC area, and so many of them commute
from you know, one place to the other crossing bridges.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
But I noticed it on I take metro back from
Rockville and then to the TV station. I noticed it immediately.
You can tell that there's fewer people, yeah, waiting, there's
few people on the trains, and like you know right away,
I have a lot.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Of neighbors who are federal workers were furloughed right now,
so there's a lot of uncertainty. I know one neighbor
she was like, I don't know what I should do
with this time, because they could call us back any moment,
and so she's trying to make a positive out of
this by decluttering an attic or something like. She's like,
little projects here and there, stuff that I wouldn't have
normally done, she's going to try to do. So our
(01:48):
thoughts are with you, you know. I know that you all
are hanging in there. And as a kid said, if
you're up early, and he didn't really have to be, hey,
we really appreciate you. Traffic may not be that bad
this morning. It's going to be a beautful day around here,
sunny in the seventies. We are starting cool, forty seven
right now, Chile's working on top stories which are coming
up next. Yeah, so good news for commanders, fans, Jade
(02:10):
and Daniels medically clear to return to practice. We've got
the latest on that in just a few minutes on
ninety seven point one wash FM Top Stories, Top of
the Hour, Top Stories presented by Celsius Energy Drinks. The
partial government shutdown now is in its second day. Lawmakers
held procedural votes on two competing fund measures yesterday, funding
(02:34):
measures rather, and they both failed. So the shutdown is
now likely to last until at least tomorrow because senators
have left town in observance of Yam Kapor food banks
across the DC area, they're getting ready for a surge
in demand as this shutdown continues. A recent report shows
that one point five million people in our region face
(02:56):
ongoing food insecurity. ePower is going to be shutting down
its ride sharing service in the district within a couple
of weeks after a court agreement from CEO Joshua Sear,
who would face possible jail time for defying an earlier order. Now,
Unlike Uber and Lyft, in Power let the drivers set
(03:17):
their own rates and kept all the earnings, and Sear
argued it should be regulated more like a travel booking
platform than a rideshare platform. The Washington Commander's quarterback Jaden Daniels,
has been medically cleared and returned to practice after he
missed two games with a knee injury, and he is
expected to compete against the Chargers this weekend. Montgomery County's
(03:39):
annual bicycle Donation Bike Drive is going to be taking
place tomorrow from seven am to two pm in Rockville,
so residents can drop off used bikes at the County
Council office building garage, and that's to help provide bikes
to kids and adults in need. And finally, Season ten
of The Real Housewives of Potomac will premiere this Sunday
(03:59):
on Bravo, but without original cast member Karen Huger. She
will not be full time on the show. That's because
she had spent six months in detention for DUI, so
she's just going to be appearing as a guest this season. Forecast, man,
it is going to be stunning, mostly sunny, seventy the
high right now it's a chili Aha forty eight degrees
(04:22):
in Centerville.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
Finally feeling like fall. You can wear the sweater today.
I've got it on. I'm so excited about it. Coming
up next our morning mindset, We'll get you in the
right mood as we get started together here on this
Thursday and get one step closer to the weekend. Chili's
got a really inspirational quote for all of us next
Great Eighties throwback from the fine Young Cannibals. Good morning,
It's Toby and Chili ninety seven point one wash FM.
(04:44):
I'm kiddo'she time for our morning mindset.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
So today's quote is by William Feather, who says success
seems to be largely a matter of hanging on after
others have let go. It's not always about being the
smartest or the fastest. It's about stay committed even when
it's really hard. I mean, think about a time when
you kept working towards something, maybe it was a project,
a goal, or maybe a personal challenge, long after everybody
(05:09):
else stopped trying, and that extra effort, that decision for
you to hold on can be what makes the difference
in reaching success. So William Feather said success seems to
be largely a matter of hanging on after others have
let go. Keep that in mind the rest of the
day and you can find that quote or share your
(05:30):
own on the Toby and Chili page at washfm dot com.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Excellent. Coming up next this week, a contestant on Wheel
of Fortune won a million dollars and now holds the
record as the biggest winner on the show. So we
are asking the question, what TV game show do you
think you could win big?
Speaker 4 (05:47):
On?
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Chili? Do you have one that you think you could
win the million dollars? More than a million? All right?
Eight six six nine two seven four three six one,
Or open up the iHeart app right now and leave
us a message with the talk back button that's that
red microphone when you're listening to ninety seven point one
wash FM, and that message will come right here to
the studio. We'll share some of your stories. Coming up next,
(06:08):
George Michael Father figure ninety seven point one wash FM
and our best of the eighties weekend kicks off tomorrow
five pm right here on wash FM with Toby and
Chilly in the morning. I'm kidd O'shay. We're asking the
question this morning, what TV game show do you think
you could win big on?
Speaker 3 (06:24):
Eight six six nine two seven four three six one.
This comes up because I don't know if you saw
Wheel of Fortune, but a woman from Connecticut, her name
is Christina. She set a single episode winnings record winning
over a million dollars on Tuesday show and I.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
Was watching it. Mike Kyle and I were watching it
live at home. We were making dinner and it was great,
and it was like, oh my gosh, she just won
a million dollars.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
Obviously you play along when you watch these game shows.
Did you get the puzzle right that she got right
for the big month? Now?
Speaker 2 (06:56):
No, Chilly, I never get the puzzles right. My brain
doesn't move fast enough. Are you good, Wheel Fortune?
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Oh that's my jam?
Speaker 2 (07:01):
So what game show do you think you could win
a million dollars and break a record on?
Speaker 3 (07:05):
I could do Wheel of Fortune, Wheelford. She's actually won
millions of dollars. So laying virtually.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
Along when the contestants don't get it right, you get
it right.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
I'm always screaming at the TV. Is there a game
show that you feel you could do really well?
Speaker 2 (07:19):
Yeah? So I can't do Jeopardy or anything like that.
I get like one Jeopardy thing right a month. I
would have to say probably like the price is right.
You know, I grew up in a store, a business
with a small business with my parents, so I kind
of would price things, and I have to mark the merchandise,
so I feel like I have a good sense of
how much things cost and that I know a can
of green beans is probably eighty nine cents.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
So that's good. Do you get to the Showcase Showdown?
Speaker 2 (07:41):
Yeah, you could win both Showcase Dale in DC, joining
the conversation at eight six six nine two seven four
three six one. What TV game show do you think
you could win big on? I would probably do very
well on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
Speaker 3 (07:53):
I always love that show, and I'm really good at
random trivia, so yeah, that would be my show for sure.
That's also good because there's multiple tricks.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
I was just going to say I can do a
little bit better on that one than Tricia in Vienna.
Good morning, Welcome to the show. What TV game show
could you win big on?
Speaker 4 (08:10):
I would crush on Family FEUs.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
I might not know trivia, but just give me a
chance to yield the most obvious answer under pressure.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
That's like my Olympic sports. Yes, I too.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
Trisha would be really good at it, but I have
no family members that I could rely on I was therefore,
I have to eliminate.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
That as an option. Thank you. You can continue chatting
with us and leave you your message on the iHeartRadio app.
Open up the app right now, use the red microphone
and leave us a message of what TV game show
you think you would do really well on and we'll
share it here on the air. Chili's working on Top

Speaker 3 (09:44):
The partial government shutdown continues into the second day amid
ongoing funding disputes, and it's expected to last until at
least tomorrow, as senators have left DC for the Jewish
holiday Yom Kapor. Meanwhile, the shutdown is already taking a
toll on businesses in the district, especially those that are
near the National Mall. Local restaurant owners reported a noticeable
(10:07):
drop in customers yesterday, and investigation is underway after Cheverley,
Maryland Police Chief David Morris shot and killed a man
who suspected in a stabbing. Officers located the arms suspect
in Riverdale, where police say he charged at the chief
with knives. A Northern Virginia High School instructional assistant is
facing sexual battery charges after allegedly inappropriately touching two students.

Forty year old Derek Burrows, who works at Thomas Edison
High School, was arrested this week and has been placed
on administrative leave. World Pride DC twenty twenty five. It
drew one point two million people for more than four

three days celebration. Jane Goodall, the world renowned primatologist and conservationist,

two percent actually trust the advice of AI more than
that of loved ones. Forecasts for today sunny skies, highs

Speaker 2 (11:50):
What do you get chili for Christmas? All right, I'm
kidd O'she and for Toby. Coming up next, what if
you could have spent a night at your current house
or apartment before you moved in? Do you think you
would have still chosen to live there. We're going to
tell you about a new trend that people are doing
before they move in. That's next with Toby and Chili
on ninety seven point one wash FM. The nineties with
(12:13):
TLC ninety seven point one Wash FM, Toby and Chili
in the morning at Kiddoshe There is a new trend
when it comes to buying a home.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
This really does apply to high end homes like estates
or ginormous mansions okay, where the potential buyer will give
a certain amount of money to live in that home
to get a feel for whether they like it enough
to drop millions of dollars sure for the house. I
(12:41):
think this should be available to all of us. I
love this concept.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
Yeah, I would have loved it when I bought my
first condo, not didn't spend millions, just a couple thousand
and bought a condo above a garage door, and then
for ten years lived above a garage door. And every
time the garage door opened, I said, why did I
buy a condo above a gara Exactly? I would have
noticed that with one night there.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
I love the idea of spending at least a couple
of nights in a potential home. Because a garage door situation,
you would know if there's a lot of traffic going
through the street, you would know you would maybe get
a vibe for the neighbors in those couple of days.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
It's a big one.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
And as a seller, I would offer up my place
for a few extra bucks. You may or may not
end up buying it, but I made a couple grand
by you. It's almost like a mini Airbnb situation.
Speaker 5 (13:34):
Come try it out, Come.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
Try my house.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
Yeah, exactly, I like it.
Speaker 5 (13:37):
You can say, Shelby and Chilly's nearly impossible question.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Let's try a little trivia contest. Now, what's today's question.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
The average person does this thirty times a night.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
What is it?
Speaker 3 (13:50):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (13:51):
All right?

We're playing for tickets see Gavin de Grauw at the
Lincoln Theater. What's that question again?
Speaker 3 (14:03):
The average person does this thirty times a night?

Speaker 2 (14:20):

Speaker 3 (14:24):
The average person does this thirty times a night?
Speaker 4 (14:28):
What is it?
Speaker 3 (14:29):
Eight six six nine two seven four three six one
is the number? And actually Kevin in Silver Spring correctly
guessed yeah, that it was changing positions while sleeping.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
I thought that thirty sounded like a lot of times
to be changing.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
Well, how many times do you think you change positions?
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Maybe once or twice?
Speaker 3 (14:47):
Oh no, it's got a bit more than you. Probably
don't realize you're doing it.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
Well, maybe four or five times, because I've got a
little five and a half pound shuahua that sometimes gets
in the way. What about you?
Speaker 3 (14:55):
Oh yeah, I'm under ten. I'm not a tossing turney
kind of person either, But yeah, now y'all learn something.
The average person changes positions thirty times a night.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
Okay, We're gonna play the Nearly Impossible Question again tomorrow morning,
same time for those Gavin de gra tickets November twenty
ninth at the Lincoln Theater. Be back here. Toby and
Chilli's Top Stories are coming up next. We'll get you

The partial government shutdown continues now in its second day.
Lawmakers held procedural votes on two competing funding measures yesterday,
which both failed, and the shutdown is likely to last

the Washington Spirit they're hosting a fan appreciation match this
Sunday at Audifield and they're offering free entry to the

The goal, of course, is to help larger dogs, which
typically spend more time in shelters, find homes more quickly.
And according to a new survey of children, apparently you're
(17:43):
officially old at age forty nine, get ready even more harsh.
Twenty percent of kids believe the fun stops at age thirty.
They say the worst parts of getting older are aches
and pains, wrinkles, and gray hair. As for today, we'll
have sunny skies with highs around seventy Right now forty nine.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
In Stafford, we're just getting started chilling. Uh huh, all right,
I'm kiddo'she And for Toby coming up next, who is
your unlicensed therapist? We want to know. Seventy five percent
of us admit to turning to non professionals for therapy.
Is it a coworker, you're barista, We're going to share
the details about this new study. Coming up next, it's
(18:25):
Toby Tilly in the morning. Ninety seven point one wash FM.
I'm kiddo'shay. Who is your unlicensed therapist? Yeah, here's why
we're talking about it.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
Seventy five percent of adults rely on someone who's not
a professional for emotional support. It could be anybody from
their hairdresser or even their pets. And a lot of
this has to do with the stigma still attached to
going to therapy or people thinking their problems aren't serious
enough to see a therapist. Now, I will say, I
(18:57):
love me some therapy and I've been in and out
of therapy for fifteen years. I like having an impartial
person to vent to, to talk things through with. So
that's my take on it. And if I had to
go outside my professional therapist, it was a workplace colleague
who no longer works here because she lived through all
(19:17):
the stuff with the company. Yeah, she could understand. What
about you?
Speaker 2 (19:21):
I would say, my biggest fear is what is a
licensed therapist gonna tell me? So I turned to I
have my friend Craig who I turned to, who also
is in therapy, and I know that I will get
a good like kind of, you know, assessment of things
because he's been through therapy. If he speaks therapy, he
speaks therapy. I've turned to you for advice before because
(19:43):
I know you do therapy, and so i'd say, Craig's
my full time therapist and you're my part time therapist.
Speaker 3 (19:49):
Oh and it's much cheaper than the real deal.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
Well that's a big thing too. It isn't very expensive.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
So if seventy five percent of people are doing this,
we want to know. Yeah, what unlicensed person are are
you turning.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
To for advice and or support eight six six nine
two seven four three six one Or open up the
iHeart app right now and use that red microphone while
you're listening to ninety seven point one wash FM and

Speaker 5 (20:37):
It's Toby and Chili's crazy first date in Middle River.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
Diane, good morning, Go ahead and tell us what happened.
Speaker 4 (20:46):
I remember years ago, there was a guy and I
was excited and I always want to take me out.
So we went to the drug store and we got
wine and I was underage, you know, I sold this
was nice, no, and he asked me to grab his
arm and we walked out like a gentleman would. But
(21:06):
next thing I know, he took me to a graveyard
and I asked him to turn around because I felt
like I was in danger. I really did. I mean,
this was crazy. I couldn't believe that it was after
the hours, it was dark, and I am so thankful
that he turned around and took me home. I did
not want to be there.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
Oh, I don't blame you. I mean, who thinks a
graveyard is a good idea for a first date? But
did you ever see him again or go out with
him again?
Speaker 4 (21:34):
He stuck by my house one day and I was
in the middle of cleaning, and he says, are you
the same girl that I seen the other night? Wait?
Speaker 3 (21:42):
So he came to your parents' house looking for you,
but he didn't recognize you when you came to the door.
Speaker 4 (21:49):
So I guess because I was like in my cleaning
closed or something, and then that was the end of
the conversation. So we did not go out, and I
closed the door and he was gone and I never
came back. So I took it as an insult.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
Yeah, I'd be insulted too, And Diane, just for sharing
that story with us, we would love to send you
to go see the Jonas Brothers at CFG Bank Arena
December twentieth, thanks to our friends at Live Nation. Now,

according to a recent survey, Americans are expected to spend
a record thirteen point one billion dollars on Halloween this year. Now,

costumes top the list, follow by candy, and the average
person is going to spend about one hundred and fourteen dollars,
which is also a record, driven in part by an
eight percent rise in candy prices compared to last year.

So we want to know who's your unlicensed therapist? Ashley
standing by from False Church. She's going to share who's
who hers is. She sees her once a month and
get something else out of it as well. We'll tell
(25:41):
you what that is next.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
Toby and Chilly in the Morning ninety seven point one
Wash FM, Good Morning. I'm Kiddo'shay from Good Morning Washington.
Who is your unlicensed therapist?
Speaker 3 (25:53):
Eight six six nine two seven four three sixty one
is the number to call? We learned earlier that's seventy
five percent of adults rely on someone who's not a
professional for emotional support. I had admitted that I usually
confide in a workplace colleague.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
And whether he likes it or not, my friend Craig
is my unlicensed therapist. Carlin Bethesda, welcome to the conversation.
Speaker 5 (26:15):
Well, I don't specifically go to therapy, but my journal
is my personal therapist.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
Oh and how do you find that helps you? Or
how is that your emotional support?
Speaker 2 (26:26):
I throw everything into it.
Speaker 4 (26:28):
At the end of the day, where there's a good day,
a bad day, and ugly day doesn't matter.
Speaker 5 (26:32):
I write in it every night and I feel.
Speaker 4 (26:35):
Better the next day.
Speaker 2 (26:36):
Yeah, and it's free, it doesn't cost me anything. I
like that, and I was journaling for a little bit.
If you're consistent with it, it really does help you out.
And it's a good thing to go back to, yes
when you're going through tough times.
Speaker 3 (26:48):
And I think that is where the help comes in,
is because you can see what you've overcome and so
you're like, oh, if I've overcome this before, I can
do it again. Carl, that's a great, great suggestion for
anybody who was looking for some sort of support.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
Thank you for sharing your story.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
Ashley, thanks for listening in falls Church. Who is your

have on my chest, I can just tell it and
I trust her and it just feels so good.
Speaker 2 (27:31):
And these are long sessions, right, It takes an hour
to do your nails, about.
Speaker 3 (27:34):
An hour and a half if it's both of those,
Manny and Patty.
Speaker 5 (27:37):
I come out of there.
Speaker 4 (27:38):
My nails are gorgeous.
Speaker 2 (27:40):

two great things for the price of one.

matter of hanging on after others have let go. Just remember,
it's not always about being the smartest or the facets.
It's about staying committed even when it's tough. And by
the way, long after others have stopped trying, that extra
effort to hold on is going to be the difference
(29:26):
in you being successful all.
