Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point
one wash Out.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
It's Toby and Chilly in the Morning on ninety seven
point one wash FM. Welcome to Friday. Hi, It's Chili Amar.
Toby Napp is out today. But I'm feeling great because
not only is the weather nice today, but it's also
supposed to be nice tomorrow morning. I'm going to be
comc of the Race for Every Child to benefit Children's

(00:25):
National Hospital. I get to do this every year. It's
taking place at Freedom Plaza and it's not too late
for you to join. It's a great cause, I mean,
you know, helping out kids. Come on, you can get
there before eight in the morning and walk. Not only
will I be an MC, but my friend Eileen Whalen,
who is the ABC seven meteorologist, she'll be there. But

(00:47):
if you need another reason to feel good, a Hallmark
Channel their Countdown to Christmas kicks off today. Yes, those
sappy movies they're starting, folks, and a lot of people
love to watch them. I was reading an article today
that the predictability of the warm and fuzzy storylines gives

(01:08):
our brains a break from all the real life stress
and chaos and just make people feel good. And another
reason the holiday Hallmark movies are so popular and why
they start long before the season, is because the study
found people are more interested in watching romantic movies during
the fall and winter than any other time of the

(01:28):
year because I guess when it gets cold out, humans
have a need for inner warmth and rom coms.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Fit the bill. So there you have it.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
You can check the schedule for the Hallmark movies right
now if you really want.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Coming up next, we're.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Going to update you on all the news headlines, the
latest including President Trump hosting Ukrainian President Zelensky at the
White House today as part of his push to end
the Russia Ukraine War. Got more on that with Toby
and Tilly's Top Stories, a ninety seven point one wash
FM Top Stories Top of the Hour Top Stories presented

(02:08):
by Celsius Energy Drinks. President Trump will host Ukrainian President
Zelinsky at the White House today. It's all part of
his push to end the Russia Ukraine War. This all
follows what Trump called a very productive call with Russian
President Putin yesterday ahead of their upcoming meeting in Hungary.

(02:28):
The Senate once again denied a spending measure that would
end the government shutdown. Meanwhile, they held a procedural vote
on a measure that is meant to fund the Department
of War. Former Trump National Security advisor John Bolton has
been indicted by the Justice Department in Maryland on charges
related to the alleged mishandling of classified documents. The federal

(02:51):
indictment includes counts under the Espionage Act. The high profile
double murder trial of Brendan Banfield in Fairfax County has
been postponed until January. He's accused of conspiring with the
family's au pair to kill his wife and another man.
The delay follows a lead prosecutor, Eric Klingen, being placed
on leave after police found him drinking in a store

(03:14):
parking lot before work. In August, the Capital Area of
Food Bank is going to be offering food distribution for
federal workers who are impacted by the shutdown.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
This all starts next week.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
Boxes of shelf stable items, produce and protein will be
available at sites in Hyattsville, North Bethesda, Alexandria, Southeast DC,
and also Beltsville on select days. You can find more
information at the Capital Area of food Banks website and
according to a recent survey, one in four employees say

(03:47):
they lack opportunities for advancement at their current jobs. More
than sixty percent say they feel they don't have a
quality job, defined not just by pay or benefits, but
by chances to grow and learn. Forecast today another lovely day,
Sonny with highs around sixty five. Right now it's forty

(04:09):
one in Riverdale. Coming up next, we're going to try
to get you into a better headspace with our morning
mindset quote. As Toby and Chilly in the Morning continues
on ninety seven point one, Washeff, good morning. It's Toby
and Chilly in the Morning. On ninety seven point one WASHFM,
I'm Chilly Omar, And as we do every day, right

(04:29):
around this time, we share a quote to get you
into a great morning mindset, and today's is in honor
of our Best of the Eighties weekend. It kicks off
at five o'clock today with Sabrina Conti. Rock Set said,
listen to your heart when he's calling for you. That
line in the song is really about trusting your instincts
and emotions, especially when you're faced with a really tough

(04:51):
decision like maybe a relationship. Imagine you're dating somebody. Things
aren't always easy.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
You know.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Maybe your friends are saying one thing, your head is
telling you another, but deep down you still feel that connection,
and that calling from your heart might be telling you
there's something really worth holding onto. It's kind of like
choosing a career path too. Everyone might say go for
the safe or stable job, but your heart might be
pulling you towards something more creative or meaningful. So listening

(05:18):
to your heart doesn't always mean the choice is going
to be easy or obvious, but it's often the one
that really aligns best with who you really are. Rock
Set said listen to your heart when he's calling for you,
and you can find that quote on the Toby and
chilipage at washfm dot com.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
Coming up next.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
You know, we love it when you call the show
and share your thoughts on something you've heard us discussed.
And yesterday I shared an email from a listener who
is really good at baking, and a coworker of hers
expected her to bake cupcakes for a baby shower for free.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
Yeah, what ever happened to you?

Speaker 2 (06:01):
Have you been expected to do something for free that
you're really good at?

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Well?

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Ronnie from Bowie wants to share her story. She is
on hold and she'll share that next as Toby and
Chilly in the Morning continues a ninety seven point one
Wash FM. We always love it when you jump into
the conversation here at Toby and Chilly in the Morning
on ninety seven point one wash FM. You can always
do so by calling eight six six nine two seven

(06:27):
four three six one. I'm Chilly Omar And yesterday I
shared an email from a listener named Lucy who was
not happy that her coworker wanted her to bake cupcakes
for a baby shower for free, just because Lucy's a
great baker, and she said she's gonna have to have
a very difficult conversation. So we were wondering, you know,

(06:49):
has anyone expected you to do something you're really good
at for free? And it turns out that Ronnie has
something to add. Good morning, thanks for listening in Buoie.

Speaker 5 (07:01):
Hi, good morning, and thanks for having me. I am
an it professional, but like you're a young lady, our
time is valuable and everybody knows what we do, so
they will try to occasionally get us to fix their
computers for free, remove their viruses and anything that has
to do with fixing their computers. So we have to
say sometimes no, this is what we charge for. This

(07:24):
is our business, and we have to sometimes let people down.
But they know if they went somewhere else, they will
have to pay for this service.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
So, Ronnie, when you have a friend or family member
ask you to get rid of a virus on their computer,
what percentage of the time do you do it? And
what has been the reaction when you said nope, time
is money.

Speaker 5 (07:45):
Probably fifty percent.

Speaker 6 (07:46):
I will sometimes discount family and friends. If they don't
want to pay, I'll say no. You know, my dad
always said I paid for you to go to school
to learn this, So what you're doing is.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
Not free, that's right.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
And if somebody doesn't want to be your friend anymore
or stop talking to you, they probably weren't worth being
in your life anyway.

Speaker 5 (08:04):
Yeah, I'm totally fine with that.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
Ronnie, thanks so much for listening to the show and
making us a part of your day.

Speaker 5 (08:10):
Thank you. I love you, guys. I wish you all
the best.

are you thinking of dating your boss well? A new
study suggests that it could hurt your career. While a

relationship with the manager may lead to a six percent
pay bump, a breakup can slash earnings by eighteen percent,
with the impact lasting up to four years. Forecast for
today another sunny day with highs in the mid sixties.

(18:00):
substance Eustace Orders a chance not just to learn, but

on the way. As Toby and Chilly in the Morning
continues a ninety seven point one wash FM. Welcome to
Friday morning. It's Toby and Chilly in the Morning. A
ninety seven point one WASHFM. I'm Chilly Amar And as

(18:21):
we do every Friday, we like to share a story
that'll make you feel good going into the weekend. And
today this one comes to us from Northern Virginia. There
is a new high school that opened its stores this week.
It's not just to teach, but it's to heal. The
Recovery Inspiration, Strength and Empowerment Academy, also known as RISE Academy,

(18:43):
sits within the North Star School building in Leesburg, and
it offers students recovering from substance Eustace Orders a chance
to stay on track academically while they're focusing on getting better.
So this all was born from a vision to meet
students where they are. Ya's Academy is a very first
program of its kind in Northern Virginia and it starts

(19:06):
this year with twenty students. It's small, but it's a
very dedicated team of teachers and support staff who believe
that recovery and education go hand in hand. A lot
of the students enrolling have faced disruptions in their schooling
while receiving treatment, and it Rise they can rebuild not
just their transcripts, but their confidence. They're being supported by

(19:28):
educators who are trained to meet their unique needs. Every
student has a medical provider. Transportation is also provided to
make sure that access is consistent. The principle of Frederica.
Max says that the small class size lets teachers work
closely together and deeply connect with students. And for some
Rise will be a temporary stop before returning to their homeschools,

(19:52):
while for others it's going to be where they end
up graduating. They're going to be stronger, steadier and ready
for what comes next. And the hope is simple but profound,
and that is to change the course of young lives,
one day and one student at a time. So I
want to thank Rise Academy for giving us a story
that makes us feel good on this Friday, and you

(20:13):
can read more about it on the Toby and Chili page.
