That looks so cool.

Speaker 5 (00:44):
But you've done other desert related trips.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
Yeah, I've been to the desert in Morocco. I've been
to the desert in Jordan.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
I like the desert, and I'm telling you, if you
ever get a chance to go, there's something spectacular about
something so massive in size. You know, think it takes
up eighty percent of their country, the Sahara desert.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
So you're saying that the sand dunes and Nag said
North Carolina not the same.

Speaker 5 (01:08):
But Jockey's Ridge it's not the Scanmage chances.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
It's a little just a little different, and we only
got a small taste of it.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
So how about the like Las Vegas desert doesn't have
the same effect, because I was gonna say, I do
love the desert everywhere, but it's a little different. There's
something about the sand in another country. Well, it's good
to have you back and great to be back. I'm
glad it looks like you were sunblock.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
I sure did wear some block, got some good and
it wasn't too hot. It was only like eighty nine
degrees there.

Speaker 5 (01:34):
Well, the weather.

Speaker 4 (01:34):
Today is if we're going to talk about weather, might
as we'll tell you it's going to be sunny.

Speaker 5 (01:37):
In seventy two nice.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
And then Tim's gonna slowly go down this week, which
is nice.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
I'm ready for it.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Okay, Chili's working on top stories coming up.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
Next.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
Big news yesterday was the Amazon Web Services. They had
widespread outages that disrupted major website for much of yesterday.

Speaker 5 (01:54):
We'll guess what. It's all been resolved. We've got that story.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
More coming up as Toby and Chili in the Morning
continues on ninety seven point one wash FF.

Speaker 6 (02:04):
Top Stories, Top of the Hour.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
Top Stories presented by Celsius Energy Drinks Well. The government
shut down persists after the Senate voted against a houseback
resolution to reopen it. Democrats insist on extending healthcare subsidies,
and Republicans refuse to negotiate until the government reopens. Amazon
Web Services says it has resolved the widespread outages that

(02:27):
were disrupted major websites for much of yesterday. Experts estimate
that the outage could ultimately cost hundreds of billions of dollars.
Two men have been arrested in connection with a string
of thefts in the Beltsville area. Police say they broke
into sheds, garages, and vehicles over the past year and
a half, stealing tools and yard equipment, and a recent

(02:49):
raid on their home uncovered a large stash of stolen items.
Brince George's County police are searching for suspects who broke
into a woman's car while she was visiting her mother's

find a shattered window in her purse stolen, which had
contained two hundred dollars in cash, a silver bracelet, house keys,

(03:10):
and one hundred and eighty five dollars in birthday gift cards.
Mayor Muriel Bowser visited at and T Stadium in Dallas
to gather some ideas for DC's new stadium that's set
to open in twenty thirty. She praised features like the
retractable roof, large video board, and a standing room area,
and also plans to tour more NFL venues for inspiration.

(03:34):
Speaking of football, Washington Commander's coach Dan Quinn says at
quarterback Jaden Daniel's right hamstring injury is not significant or
long term, but it is still not clear if he's
going to be playing against the Chief's Monday night. Quinn
expects a clearer update by Thursday of this week, and
President Trump is reportedly considering commuting Sean Diddy Coombs's fifty

(03:56):
month sentence for interstate prostitution, despite pushback from the White
House staff. A decision about that could come as early
as this week. Forecast today sunny sky seventy two to
the high right now, though it is forty one in
Capitol Heights.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
And on kiddoshe and for Toby our morning mindset may
just be that inspirational quote you need to make today
a great day. Chil's going to share that with us
next on this Tuesday morning on ninety seven point one
wash FM, Tom Petty free Fall in ninety seven point
one wash FM. It's kiddoshe with Toby and Chile in
the morning time for our morning mindset.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
So today's quote is by Videll Sassoon who said the
only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary.
It's a clever way of saying that in real life,
you got to put in the effort before you can
achieve success. Yes, so that's a really good lesson, there
isn't it. Hard work always has to come first. It's
a reminder that no matter what you are trying to accomplish,

(04:52):
whether it's a career goal, a personal project, or learning
something new, you're not going to get the results without
putting in time and energy. So keep that in mind.
Vidal Sassoon said the only place where success comes before
work is in the dictionary, and you can find that
quote on the Toby and chilipage atwaschefm dot com.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
My twenty year old nephews listening to this right now,
All right, there is a new trend at restaurants that
may be coming to our area soon. Wait until you
hear what is usually free now has a price ta
give up to one hundred dollars at some restaurants. I'll
share that with you next Toby and Chilly in the morning,
ninety seven point one wash FM. I'm kidd o'she how
much are you willing to pay for water at a restaurant?

Speaker 3 (05:34):
Zero? Zero dollars? It should be free.

Speaker 5 (05:37):
Here's what's happening, though.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
Restaurants are elevating water service to a fine dining experience
by introducing curated water.

Speaker 5 (05:44):
Menus, much like you get a wine menus.

Speaker 4 (05:47):
Okay, so there is a water somalier that will guide
you through pairings with premium bottled waters, priced much like
fine wines, ranging from eight dollars.

Speaker 5 (05:58):
To over one hundred dollar bottle. For again, water.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
Folks, Okay, now, think about how much you spend on
a bottle of water when you go to the airport.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
You're spending eight dollars right there.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
So okay, maybe I'd spent spent eight dollars on a
nice bottle of water if it was better than the
bottled water.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
I'm sorry, kid, I cannot, I cannot, I cannot in
my head go there. Even though when bottled water first
came out, however many over a decade ago, we were like.

Speaker 5 (06:25):
Why would you pay for something you could get from
the sink?

Speaker 4 (06:27):
Okay, but there is a taste difference to a degree,
But then you can buy filters at home, so you
don't have to buy bottled water. I'm gonna go get
some sort of filet mignon and what sparkling water for
one hundred bucks?

Speaker 2 (06:40):
They're saying, the minerals in this fancy water from France
that they flew in is gonna make you that the
steak's gonna taste better, and I'm.

Speaker 5 (06:47):
Gonna pollute it with my little drops of meo for flavor.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Well, that you cannot do if you go to a
fancy restaurant.

Speaker 5 (06:53):

one wash FM.

Speaker 6 (07:55):
Top Stories Top of the Hour.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
Amazon Web Services has restored all systems after a major
outage yesterday that impacted numerous popular platforms. Experts say the
disruption could end up costing hundreds of billions of dollars.
Prince George's County police searching for two suspects after an
attempted carjacking in Hillcrest Heights yesterday. Investigators say the suspects

(08:17):
approached a driver on Branch Avenue, but the driver pulled
a gun and fired at them, causing them to run away.
Leesburg police are investigating after Ku Klux clan flyers were
found downtown on Saturday morning on several streets, placed inside
freezer bags and waded down with rocks. Authorities are asking
residents to check their surveillance footage for any suspicious activity

(08:41):
around six am on Saturday. DC's nine one one agency
now requires callers to provide their phone number to report errors,
sparking concern from safety advocates who say it limits accountability.
Critics argue the agency can identify incidents without it, and
warned that lives could be risk if mistakes go unchecked.

(09:02):
The White House has begun demolishing part of the East
Wing to make room for a new two hundred and
fifty million dollar ballroom commissioned by the President. The ninety
thousand square foot venue is designed to host up to
nine hundred and ninety nine guests. Well, there's a new
scam that's targeting Uber users, where fraudsters text or call

(09:24):
asking for an account verification code and if you share
the code, they can take over your account and access
your payment methods. And according to a recent study of
Americans over the age of fifty, their screen habits are
very similar to younger generations, averaging twenty two hours a week.
While TV dominates, many also use devices for browsing, gaming,

(09:46):
video calls, and social media. Forecast Today sunny and breezy.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
All right, Chilli, thanks a lot. I' kiddo'she and for
Toby coming up next. There's an airline offering an extra
perk to people that take a seat that doesn't recline.
Would you take that seat? We're going to share the
list of perks with you and let you decide. Next,
Amy Grant Baby Baby ninety seven point one, Wash FM
with Toby and Chile in the morning.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
I'm kiddoshe.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
So there's an airline offering extra perks if you decide
not to recline your seat.

Speaker 7 (10:19):
Well.

Speaker 5 (10:20):
West Jet is.

Speaker 4 (10:21):
An airline that's shaking up their economy class pretty soon.
It is going to actually cost you just to lean
back in a seat. They are removing reclining seats from
standard economy on forty three of their Boeing seven thirty
seven planes. Now, you can still recline if you upgrade
to a premium or extended comfort seat, so you'll have
to pay more for those now. The new fixed seats

(10:42):
promise more personal space plus perks like your adjustable headrests,
better cushions, power outlets, and tablet holders. The redesign also
squeezes in an extra row, refreshed bathrooms, and faster Wi Fi.
Is that worth it to you to not be able
to recline?

Speaker 2 (10:59):
I would say on ninety percent of domestic flights that
I'm on, I never recline my seat. Okay, I see
no purpose. It's like, you know, what, do you need comfort?
That would be the purpose. Okay. Look they're not that
comfortable to begin with, so like, okay, they only go
back so far. Okay, So unless you're gonna give me
a lay flat seat, I'm kind of like.

Speaker 4 (11:21):
You'll take the power outlets, you'll take the tablet holds,
we'll take all that. Yeah, no, what about you? My
back hurts too much to be that sitting that erect.
I need a little bit of give, so I don't
really care about the adjustable headrests and stuff.

Speaker 5 (11:35):
You know, I bring my own little neck pillows.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
You're not doing the fixed seats. You're gonna pay for
the upgrade?

Speaker 4 (11:39):
No, I want them to be reclining and space and
all the things.

Speaker 6 (11:43):
Toby and Chili's nearly impossible question.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
And I don't want to pay for it all right,
Sarah McLaughlin tickets up for grabs.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
What is today's question?

Speaker 3 (12:53):
I think that we're talking about birthday?

Speaker 5 (12:56):
Okay?

Speaker 4 (12:56):
Do you celebrate your cat or dog's birthday Mabel?

Speaker 5 (12:59):
And if so, how.

Speaker 4 (13:02):
Yeah? Actually, I just have a dog, my first in
my adult life after many, many many years.

Speaker 6 (13:07):
She just frowned one a few weeks ago, and we

A decision is expected later this week. Food allergies and

I'm kidoshe in for Toby coming up next. A new

and that fear increases after watching scary movies. So, with
ten days away from Halloween, we need your help putting
together a list of your favorite scary movies. Eight six

(16:51):
be on that list? We'll start putting our list together
with your help.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
Next. Feeling good on a Tuesday.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
Morning with Toby and Chilly in the morning, I'm kiddo'she
ninety seven point one wash FM. We need your help
putting together a list of your favorite scary movies right
now eight six six wash FM one.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
Here's why we're talking about it.

Speaker 4 (17:10):
I mean, Halloween is ten days away and scary movie
season might be fun, but it could also be feeding
real fears, like being afraid of the dark, because the
study found that nearly three inten adults still have the
fear of the dark and horror movies make it worse,
but they still love to watch those movies.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
That's totally me. I love it.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
I love getting spooked, can't walk around the house afterwards.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
What about you?

Speaker 4 (17:32):
No, and to me, I considered a scary movie if
there's even one jump scare in it or if there's
like a psychological thriller aspect of it.

Speaker 7 (17:39):
No.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
Thanks, Hey Bill in Northwest, do you have an opinion
about this?

Speaker 3 (17:43):
I do actually have an opinion on that. My favorite
scary movie of all time is The Shining.

Speaker 4 (17:47):
That is a great suggestion. Jack Nicholson, famous movie. But
why that's an actual thriller, not just blood and gore
and sounds to me you scared.

Speaker 7 (17:58):
There's actual like.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
It.

Speaker 3 (18:00):
It's a great movie.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
It is a great movie, and it's also based on
a Stephen King novel. Yeah, so I will add any
Stephen King movie. Also, I consider us too scary. All right,
we're putting The Shining on the list. Vanessa in falls Church,
welcome to the conversation. What would you put on the list?

Speaker 8 (18:16):
I would definitely say The Conjuring because that was based
on a true story of like.

Speaker 4 (18:22):
A possessed doll that terrorized a family in some sort
of Rhode Island farmhouse in the seventies.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
Those are the ones that freak me out the most.
After I watch them, I can't walk around the house.

Speaker 5 (18:32):
Do you feel the same way.

Speaker 8 (18:34):
I always get the you know, chills whenever I watch it.

Speaker 6 (18:38):
It's really really scary.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
Well then I have to ask, why would you watch
it more than once?

Speaker 5 (18:44):
Vanessa?

Speaker 2 (18:44):
I love that feeling that she's talking about. Eight sixt'
six wash FM one. If you want to add a
movie to the list, we'll get some more of your
phone calls coming up in just a few minutes. You
can also use the iHeartRadio app, and while you're listening
to ninety seven point one wash FM, use that red
microphone to leave us a talkback message that comes directly

first date story to get to.

Speaker 5 (19:05):
Helton in Noakesville.

Speaker 4 (19:07):
Was so excited to go on a date with this
girl that he sold his textbooks to pay for the dates.

Speaker 5 (19:14):
Wow, what did she do when she found out?

Speaker 4 (19:17):
You'll hear coming up this Toby and Chilly in the
morning continues a ninety seven point one wash Ff and.

Speaker 6 (19:23):
Toby and Chilly crazy first date.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
And now we go to Noaksville for this crazy first
date story. Let's welcome Helton back in college.

Speaker 7 (19:32):
I had this really cute girl who I worked with
at the mall and I scored a first date with her.
Problem is it wasn't paid in, so I didn't have
money to take her out on a date. But he
was the end of the semester, so I was all
done with classes and I did have my textbooks that
I could sell back to the bookstore to make some money.
So on our day from the beginning, I asked it, Hey,
if your mind if we're just sitting by the college

(19:53):
library in the bookstore, So I did sold the books.
Little did you know that I was using the money
from the books that I all to pay for the
dinner and then the movie, which was the movie at
the school, which was only three bucks, so I still
saving some money, be financially responsible and scoring the date
with the hot girl from work.

Speaker 5 (20:10):
But didn't you need those books for school?

Speaker 7 (20:13):
Luckily the semester I was done with classes. You know,
there wasn't that much money that I got back from
the books. I don't think it was even one hundred
bucks for all of them, but it did give them
out the opportunity to sit down and have a good
dinner with the girl. I guess it worked well.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
Did you start a go Fundme page for a second date,
because I mean, one date has to lead to another.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
And if you were broke, sir, and you'd already sold
all of your books, what was next? Clothing? Maybe on consignment?

Speaker 7 (20:36):
Date Number two was a couple weeks after that, and
I actually scored similar knickknacks and a bag from work
itself because it was near Valentine's Day, so I worked
them all so they always had little giveaways for clients
and stuff. So I grabbed one of those little knickknack
bags with the candy and the heart safe necklaces and
the heart headbands, and I put the headband on, knocked

(20:59):
on her door and said, hey, hippy Valentine's Day?

Speaker 5 (21:02):
How long did this end up working for you?

Speaker 2 (21:04):
Like?

Speaker 5 (21:04):
How long did you guys date?

Speaker 7 (21:05):
We dated for two and a half years altogether, and
then I actually got down one epop the question. Then
thirteen year later, we had three beautiful kids and you're
still saying, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (21:15):
That is amazing.

Speaker 4 (21:17):
Helton, all your resourcefulness paid off.

Speaker 5 (21:19):
Listen.

Speaker 4 (21:20):
If you've got a crazy first date story like he did,
you can give us a call right now at eight
