Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point
one wash Out.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Good Morning, It's Toby and Chili ninety seven point one
wash FM. I'm kidd O'Shea mark today October twenty third,
twenty twenty five as a major milestone in our relationship.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
Chiliamar, Yes it is, and I'm it's very bittersweet.
Speaker 4 (00:19):
See you're yeah, I thought.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
I'd be happier, to be quite honest. So our headphones
have to have an adapter or like a headphone jack
so that kid can plug into the equipment here. Yeah,
And he never had this special little piece of even
though it's not that expensive.
Speaker 4 (00:37):
No, it's like maybe three dollars on Amazon.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
And he would borrow an extra one of mine, and
every morning I would have it there for you, or
you would ask me for it, and then you'd give
it back. And this went on for years, for really
long time, and just now you gave mine back and said,
I will no longer need that.
Speaker 4 (00:54):
I no longer need your support.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
I have my own.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
And I thought, oh, the Amazon truck delivered it yesterday.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Had I known it was so easy to buy on Amazon,
I would have done it a long time ago.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
No, but I think a part of you liked I
liked you. See, it's the little gift that you would
get in the morning, my little headphone jack on your
on your side of the thing.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
And if you have a morning routine similar to something
like that, when you walk into the office or something,
it's just like that.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
Every day. I knew I had to ask Chili for
the headphone jacks.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
It would maybe be like when a coworker has a
coffee waiting for you, Yeah, and then they just stop.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Well, we'll see how this goes for us. Maybe we'll
have to replace it with something else we could, But
for now that stage of our relationship is over until
I probably lose.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
It and I'll have to ask you.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Guess sure I haven't, all right, du Chili is working
on Top Stories on this Thursday morning.
Speaker 4 (01:43):
That's coming up.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
Next, in case you missed it, Commander's quarterback Jade and
Daniel's going to be missing Monday night's game against the Chiefs.
I've got more on that and just a few as
Toby and Chili in the Morning continues. On ninety seven
point one waschef.
Speaker 5 (01:55):
Of Top Stories of the Hour.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Top Stories presented by Celsius Energy drinks. The federal government
shutdown shows no sign of ending, with no clear path
forward at this point. Yesterday, the Senate once again failed
to advance a House approved bill aimed at reopening the government.
Fire investigators say that two major house fires in Labn
County this week were caused by preventable issues and unattended candles.
(02:23):
Sparked a four hundred and fifty thousand dollars blaze in
Aldy on Monday night and that displaced a family of three,
while a clogged chimney led to a four hundred thousand
dollars fire in Personville early Tuesday. Maryland is offering free
Mark train and commuter bus rides to federal workers who
were required to report during the government shutdowns. So employees
(02:45):
can ride at no cost by showing their federal ID
with service covering areas like Baltimore, Perryville, and Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Washington Commander's quarterback Jaden Daniels is going to be missing
the upcoming game against the Kansas City Chiefs because of
that right hamstring injury, so it was announced that backup
QB Marcus Sameriotta is going to be starting in his place.
(03:09):
Spirit Halloween's festive sibling spirit, Christmas is going to be
popping up soon, just weeks after a Halloween wraps up.
The temporary Holiday Store plans to open dozens of locations
throughout the Northeast, including a new one in Waldorf, Maryland.
And a new study shows depression and anxiety are rising
among US construction workers, with sixty four percent of them
(03:32):
reporting struggles in the past year. That's up from fifty
four percent. Researchers cite long hours, physical strain, and job
insecurity as key contributors to the growing mental health crisis
in that industry. Forecast today partly cloudy and breezy, bit
cooler than yesterday. Sixty two the high right now forty
seven in Aspen Hill.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
All right, thanks Chili, I'm kiddo'she coming up next. Sometimes
we all just need a little help getting going in
the morning. So that's why we give you the morning mindset.
Chili's going to share an inspirational quote with all of
us to get us through this Thursday together.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
Next.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
But for Thursday's off to a great start. It's Toby
and Chili ninety seven point one WASHCHEFM. I'm kiddoshe time
for our morning mindset.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
This quote is by Walt Whitman, who said, re examine
all that you've been told, dismiss that which insults your soul.
This really encourages us to think for ourselves and not
just accept everything we hear or that we're taught. It's
about trusting your own instincts and your values and protecting
your inner self from anything that feels harmful or disrespectful.
(04:33):
It really is a call for all of us to
be thoughtful, open minded, and true to who you really are.
So again, Walt Whitman said, re examine all that you've
been told and dismiss that which insults your soul. And
you can find that quote on the Toby and Chili
page at washfm dot com.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
I have really connected with all of your morning mind
sets this week Chili. By the way, Chili posts them
on our Instagram page as well at washefam Just search
wash FM on Instagram. All right, coming up next here,
If you were moving this weekend, when would you start packing?
The movers are showing up at our house on Sunday?
Can you guess how far I am? The answer may
surprise you, and I may need your help. I'll share
(05:16):
the details next ninety seven point one Wash FM with
Toby and Chile in the morning. It's kiddoshe if you
were moving this weekend, when would you start packing? The
reason we're asking this question is because I have movers
showing up to our apartment, our one bedroom apartment in
DC on Sunday for a big move, and Chili, I
have not yet started packing. You have not, not a
(05:41):
single box has been packed.
Speaker 3 (05:42):
Oh no, no, no, no, no no. That is not
a good thing. You've got to start today. And I
don't understand why you haven't started though.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Well, the boxes only first arrived yesterday that I ordered
on Amazon.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
Did I wait too long to order boxes?
Speaker 3 (05:56):
Yes? Okay, you could have gone to a home depot
and pick them up in two seconds. That's okay.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
So tell me what you think I should be doing
and where I should be at this point. Where would
you be at this point in a move if you
were moving, says.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
Before movers showed up, Everything except for the first okay,
a few clothes I would still have in the house,
and ninety seven percent of the kitchen would have been
done already, for sure. For sure, only like a couple
of plates for us to need the fridge would still
have stuff in it.
Speaker 4 (06:23):
Yeah, but otherwise most of your house would be packed up.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
It's ready red d for the movers. Here's the thing.
It seems very daunting, and I get it. Anyone who's
ever moved knows it's overwhelming. And one of the things
the mover told me and they helped talk me through it,
is like, first, you take everything off the walls and
you secure those frames. Right, that's theirs. You would have
done that a long time ago, but you haven't.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
Fine.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
And then what I thought would be the hardest was
the closets. But that's the easiest because you can literally
just take the stuff off of the hangers and with
the hangers put them in a special box that they
have for things that you can hang. The hardest is
always the kitchen. You think it's not going to be
that big of a deal, but oh my god, every
little thing has to be secured because they can chip
or break. So your kitchen is going to be the
(07:06):
most daunting and you really need to start that now.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
Okay today, So today when I get home from work, Yes,
I need to get the pictures off the wall.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
I have to start packing. Yes, the rumers are coming,
Where do you go?
Speaker 2 (07:20):
I don't know if this helped or made this worse,
but I am a little stressed out.
Speaker 4 (07:23):
We'll have an update tomorrow for you.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
Okay, coming up next though, we're working on top stories
for you on this Thursday morning, plus more music to
get you going. It's Toby and Chilly in the Morning
ninety seven point one wash FM. So Sarah McLaughlin is
coming to the Anthem and we'd love to send you
to that show for free.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
All you have to do is listen to our nearly
impossible question and get it right, and we'll be playing
that right around six twenty this morning.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
We appreciate you waking up with Toby and Chilly on
ninety seven point one wash FM.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Ninety seven point one WASHFM, Washington, an iHeartRadio station.
Speaker 5 (07:57):
Coming up on Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
Safety leaders say Howard County's school bus cameras are catching
a surprising number of drivers ignoring their stop signs.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
Chile has that story and more coming up in Top Stories,
and kiddoshe with Toby and Chilly in the Morning, Harley
Poppy Breezy today in sixty two. We also have the
music to start your Thursday thank you for being here
ninety seven point one wash FMS.
Speaker 5 (08:23):
Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
The government shut down continues after another failed vote in
the Senate yesterday. It all comes after Oregon Democrat Jeff
Merkley spoke on the floor for over twenty two hours.
Safety leaders say that Howard Counties school bus cameras are
catching a surprising number of drivers ignoring stop signs. Over
eight thousand citations were issued last school year alone. That
(08:46):
is more than forty drivers a day that are illegally
passing stopped school buses. The DC Council is considering a
bill to titan rules on ticket resale. Supporters say it
would stop price gouging and ensure artists get fairy, while
companies like stub Hub argue that it would hurt efforts
to reduce fraud, but no date has been set to
vote on that. Washington Commander's quarterback Jaden Daniels is going
(09:10):
to be sitting out Monday's game against the Kansas City
Chiefs due to a right hamstring injury that he suffered
last week. Backup Marcus Mariotta is set to start in
his place. Amazon Prime Videos can be making its NFL
Black Friday game between the Bears and the Eagles available
to stream for free worldwide. It'll mark the first time
(09:31):
that an NFL game on Prime Video is available to
stream to non subscribers. And according to a recent survey,
one in three people believe that they could actually survive
a horror movie. Forty two percent admit that they would
likely be the first one to die, but fourteen percent
think that they could outsmart the killer using their logic.
(09:52):
Now nearly have to agree that the top survival rule
in any horror movie is quite simple. Never split up.
I thought it was never run up stairs. Okay, there
you're stocked. Okay, exactly. Forecast today partly clappity and breezy.
Highs around sixty two right now forty seven in Annandale.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
All Right, I'm kiddoshe coming up next. Wait until you
hear what one industry is proposing for a typical work week.
It completely disrupts the nine to five model, but not
in a good way.
Speaker 4 (10:20):
We'll share that with you.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Coming up next, Toby and Chilly in the Morning, ninety
seven point one Wash FM. I'm kiddo'she wait until you
hear what one industry is proposing for a typical work week.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
It's called the nine to nine to six work trend,
and this is happening in the tech industry. I think
that's important to point out. What they're saying is work
from nine am to nine pm, six days a week.
That's a seventy hour work week.
Speaker 5 (10:50):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
And a lot of these AI startups are normalizing these
extreme work hours, and they explicitly warn arned job candidates
of these seventy hour work weeks, and they're demanding dedication
from its employees because that's how they're going to stay competitive.
You've got to put in the work, You've got to
put in the you know, hustle. And of course there
(11:12):
are a lot of experts who are saying you're going
to create tremendous burnout and you're not gonna This is
not going to be good ultimately for productivity.
Speaker 4 (11:21):
No, I wouldn't mind to see the paycheck of this
nine nine sixteen.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
If it's a big paycheck, maybe I'd sacrifice my life
for it.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
Never, I would never consider it. And it's kind of
just discouraging for me because you and I are part
of the generation where we work to live right, You
go to work sick, right, you don't take your lunch breaks. Yeah,
and it's what happened to us. We're a mess. And
I like that. The younger generation is creating more work
life balance boundaries. So if you were to ask me
(11:49):
what I would love to have as a work week,
I would say I would work five days a week,
but I want to work eight to three, all right.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
So that's like a thirty five hour work week.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
Sure, and I don't need a whole hour for lunch.
I could just eat a sound it at my desk.
What about you?
Speaker 4 (12:02):
I would do.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
I would do the twelve hour work day, four days
a week, and then I get three week I get
my full weekends.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
So nine to nine, four days a week. Yeah, yeah,
you and I aren't working in the same place.
Speaker 5 (12:14):
Tolby and Chili's nearly impossible question.
Speaker 4 (12:16):
Think of how nice those long weekends would be, all right?
What is today's question?
Speaker 3 (12:20):
Forty percent of adults say they would give up this
before they'd give up their phone.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
What is it?
Speaker 6 (12:27):
All right?
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Eight six six nine two seven four three six one
or eight six six wash FM one to play for
Sarah McLaughlin. Tickets coming to the Anthem thanks to our
friends at Live Nation what's that question again?
Speaker 3 (12:40):
Forty percent of adults say they would give up this
before they gave up their phone.
Speaker 4 (12:45):
What is it?
Speaker 2 (12:46):
Eight six six nine two seven four three six one.
The answer and more music coming up next.
Speaker 5 (12:53):
Tolby and Chili's Nearly Impossible Question, And.
Speaker 4 (12:55):
I'm Kiddoshee and for Toby.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
We're playing for tickets to see Sarah mcgloch then at
the Anthem on November sixteenth, thanks to our friends at
Live Nation.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
What is today's question?
Speaker 3 (13:06):
Forty percent of adults say they would give up this
before they gave up their phone. What is it?
Speaker 4 (13:12):
All right? Eight sixty six nine two seven four three
six one.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
Good morning, Patrick, thanks for listening to us in Germantown.
Speaker 4 (13:19):
How are you today? I'm doing great.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
That is awesome. We're trying to make you better. You've
got the question, what do you think the answer might be?
Speaker 6 (13:27):
I would say they're television?
Speaker 3 (13:30):
Would you yourself be willing to give up your TV
before you ever gave up your phone?
Speaker 6 (13:36):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (13:36):
Absolutely.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
I wouldn't have said that maybe five years ago, but
I'm with you.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
Patrick Patrick. That's an excellent guest. It is the correct
to answer. Forty percent of adults say they would give
up their TV before they ever gave up their phone.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
Congrats, Oh, thanks.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
Got the Sarah McLaughlin tickets. You're gonna go se here
at the Anthem. It's going to be a great show.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
Oh looking forward to it.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
And we'll have another pair of tickets again for you
tomorrow morning, same time, right here with Toby and Chile
in the morning. Chili's putting together top stories. We're lining
up more music as well. We've got you covered on

excited for our Best of the Eighties weekend, which kicks
off tomorrow right here on ninety seven point one wash

Virginians are casting early ballots in record numbers this year.
Speaker 2 (14:53):

Speaker 5 (15:09):
Top Stories Top of the Hour.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
The President announced plans to demolish the entire White House
East wing to build a new ninety thousand square foot ballroom.
He downplayed the historic significance of it, calling it a
very small structure that was never thought of as being
much well. The TSA is closing its Lost and Found
service at Reagan National Airport because of the federal government
shut down. Travelers are now being asked to file claims online,
(15:35):
and the TSA has apologized for the inconvenience. Fire investigators
say that two major house fiers in Louden County this
week were caused by preventable issues and unattended candles sparked
a four hundred and fifty thousand dollar blaze and Alday
on Monday night, and they displaced a family of three,
while a clogged chimney led to a four hundred thousand
(15:56):
dollar fire in Perceval early Tuesday. BI is offering a
five hundred thousand dollars reward for information that leads the
arrest and conviction of the person behind the attempted twenty
twenty one pipe bombing in DC. The suspect left explosive
devices outside the Democratic and Republican National Committee headquarters on
(16:17):
January fifth, of twenty twenty one. Virginians are casting early
ballots in record numbers this year, with more than seven
hundred and fifty thousand people having already voted. That marks
a new high for a non presidential election year. Early
voting we lend November first, a head of election day
November fourth, as the state chooses a new governor and
(16:38):
lieutenant governor.
Speaker 4 (16:40):
Now.
Speaker 3 (16:40):
According to a recent study, Columbia, Maryland has just been
named the best place for the US for women to live.
That's all thanks to high median earnings, low poverty rates,
and strong health status. Women are also ranked in Colombia
the most physically active in the entire country. Forecast today
partly cloudy and breeze hides around sixty two right now
(17:02):
forty seven in Ashbourn.
Speaker 4 (17:04):
All right, and I'm kid o'shee. Coming up next.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
A new study says most of us have four negative
thoughts about this one thing each day. There's a good
chance you've already done it at least once today. What
do you think it is? We're going to share the
new study with you and what we can all learn
from this coming up next. Good morning, It's Toby and
Tilly in the morning, ninety seven point one wash FM.
I'm kidd O'Shea. If you looked in the mirror this
(17:26):
morning and had a negative thought about what you saw, guess.
Speaker 4 (17:29):
What, You're not alone.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
No, I think the average person has four negative thoughts
about their bodies a day. Oh man, why aren't we
nicer to ourselves? Sixty nine percent of Americans first notice
something they want to fix when they look in the mirror.
Speaker 5 (17:46):
So we're all.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
Very similar in this. I think you make assumptions that, oh,
that person looks so confident. Everybody has an insecurity one percent.
So I gotta know, I don't think I've ever asked you.
I don't know the answer to this. What is your
instat security.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
I would just like to say, we get up at
three o'clock in the morning for this job. So sometimes
when I'm looking in the mirror, I'm like, boy, oh, boy,
do you look rough?
Speaker 6 (18:08):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (18:08):
Is there any specific things?
Speaker 2 (18:10):
So I used to have a huge insecurity about my
nose because I have a bigger nose and I have
a little bit of the hump that you get or whatever.
But I totally have embraced it now and it's like
part of who I am.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
It is.
Speaker 4 (18:21):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
The profile shots not the best, but head on it
looks fine.
Speaker 4 (18:25):
What about you?
Speaker 3 (18:26):
I think typically and as the survey found your weight
right like or where I carry the weight. It's not
so much the number on the scale, but my mid
section is usually where I carry it. But I'm going
to tell you this, and I'm not kidding when I
say I am now, at the age of fifty three,
more secure than I have ever been. That's about right myself,
because honestly, I give less. Yeah, you know what, as
(18:50):
I get older, I think for me, being healthy is
the most important part. And the shell is the shell.
It is what it is.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
So I love that let's share our insecurities morning, since
we all have them and then look at the positive
side of things that we're all together. So we'd love
to have you joined the conversation right now eight six
six wash FM one eight six six nine two seven
four three six one. We'll get us of your calls
coming up in just a few minutes, but first, we've
got a crazy first date on the way next.
Speaker 3 (19:18):
Okay, So Grace in Bethesda said she was on a
date with the guy. Things for going so well until
he asked to get a closer look at her shoes,
and boy, did things take a turn. You've got to
hear the story that's on the way next with Toby
and Chilly in the morning A ninety seven point one
wash FM.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
It's Toby and Chili's crazy first day in Bethesda.
Speaker 3 (19:47):
Grace, we cannot wait to hear this story. What happened?
Speaker 6 (19:50):
So I went on a date with this guy who
seemed really nice and sweet. He had a very calm
demeanor and this real gentleman like he would open the
door for me and we connected with well. And so
after dinner, he asked if I want to go take
a walk at a park nearby. So I said, sure,
Do we drive to the park and when we get there,
before getting out of the car, the guy turns to
me and he says, can I see your shoe? I
(20:11):
just want to see what kind of shoes you're wearing.
I'm like, they're just playing black flats, but okay, whatever.
So I just take off my shoe and I hand
it to him, and he immediately buries his face to
my shoe and he starts smelling it, like very aggressively,
like his eyes are fully closed and he's just smiling
and like sniffing. Meanwhile, I'm so disturbed, so I yell
at him to stop, but he wouldn't stop. So then
I reach over to try to get my shoe back,
(20:33):
but then he becomes more aggressive and he leans over
my seat, he grabs my foot, and then he starts
like rubbing his nose all over my foot. I start
taking and screaming. I'm like so disturbed. But then when
I look at his face, he's like in this complete
days like it's like he can't even hear what I'm saying.
So basically what I did was just like I very
gently try to push him away, and I started begging
(20:53):
for him to please take me home, and I think
he felt kind of bad, so thankfully, like he listened
to me and he greaths it take me home? Like
the crazy thing is like after he started up the
car again, he just wreagained his composure like completely and
just started driving and talking to me like as though
nothing had just happened. And then the next day he
texted me again as though nothing happened, and of course
(21:14):
I never spoke with him again.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
I'm so glad he did not show up at your
doorstep because he knew where you lived if he took
you home.
Speaker 6 (21:21):
Thankfully he got the message because.
Speaker 3 (21:23):
You shared that story with us, Grace, we would love
to send you to go see the Jonas Brothers at
CFG Bankerina December twenty and thanks to our friends at
Live Nation.
Speaker 5 (21:33):
Oh my gosh, thank you, that's so awesome.
Speaker 3 (21:35):
Hopefully whoever you take with you does not want you
to take your shoes off and take control of your.
Speaker 4 (21:41):
Feet, hopefully not.
Speaker 6 (21:42):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 3 (21:43):
