wash FM. Good Morning, It's kenn o'she in for Toby
and Well, I just love your I'm gonna say casual
outfit because you don't normally wear this, but it's really cute.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
Yeah, it's a sweatshirt. It's a Washington Capital's sweatshirt. Yeah,
and it was sent to me by the team's pr.
I got home yesterday and on the front step was
a box and it was from the Capitals.
Speaker 4 (00:32):
And I knew there had to be swag.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
I love that.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
And the reason they sent me the swag is because
the season starts tonight. Yeah, they're playing at home against
the Bruins. And in our household, hockey is king.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
So goes hockey, football, Baseball, Yes exactly.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
I mean Commanders are really close second, like really right
up there, but I can't stay up and watch the games,
and hockey has so many more games in football. The
puck drops at seven thirty tonight, so I'll start watch
the beginning, but then.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
I'll you gotta go to bed.
Speaker 4 (01:07):
The first thing I'll do tomorrow is check the score.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
Well, you're already in your comfy clothes, I mean, on
a kind of rainy Wednesday morning. This is like the
perfect outfit. But the one is gonna change today. Cooler today,
sunshine is seventy later today, it's gonna.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
Be really nice, really really nice.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Chili's working on Top Stories coming up next.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
Yeah, So the President says that some furloughed federal workers
may not be guaranteed back pay, causing some drama.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
We've got all the details on the wind.
Speaker 5 (01:39):
Top Stories. Top of the Hour.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
Top Story is presented by Celsius Energy Drinks. The government
shutdown has entered its eighth day. Senate Majority leader John
Thune announced another vote will take place this morning on
both the GOP and the Democratic spending bills, despite both
those measures having failed five times already. Meanwhile, the Trump
administration is saying that some furloughed federal workers may not
(02:02):
be guaranteed back pay. Attorney General Pam Bondi's testimony on
Capitol Hill grew heated as she faced sharp criticism from
Democrats over her handling of the National Guard deployment, the
Jeffrey Epstein investigation, and the indictment of former FBI director
James Comy. Lawmakers accused her of pursuing politically motivated actions
(02:23):
against Trump's adversaries. DC leaders voted against extending the city's
summer youth curfew, which had been in place for the
past three months, and it restricted anyone under seventeen and
also seventeen and under from being in public after eleven pm.
Council members said that they might consider a similar policy
(02:44):
in the future. A Metro fair evader learned a costly
lesson after he got his footstuck between a fair gate
and a wall. This happened at the DuPont Circle station
Sunday night. DC Fire had to rescue him and he
refused medical treatment, but he was handed a fifty dollars
citation and told to leave. And NBC is creating a
(03:06):
TV game show based on the popular New York Times
word puzzle Wordle. It's going to be hosted by Today's
Show anchor Savannah Guthrie. Also, Netflix announced plans to transform
the classic Hasbro board game Clue into a reality competition show.
Forecast for today, Yes, we have a cloudy and rainy
(03:27):
start to the day, but then the sun is going
to come out. Highs are going to be around seventy
right now sixty seven in Stafford.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
All right, Chilli, thanks lot. Coming up next Wednesday morning.
We're making it through the week together and the morning
mindset is on the way. Next little inspirational quote to
get us all going. Plus we have all your favorite

Nineties throwback from Alanis Moore sets ninety seven point one
wash FM with Toby and Chile in the morning. I'm
kiddoshe it's time for our morning mindset.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Ralph Waldo Emerson said, do not follow where the path
may lead. Go instead where there is no path and
leave a trail. It's all about carving your own path
instead of just doing what everyone else is doing. Don't
be afraid to take risks or try something different, because
that is how you make your own mark. So think
(04:15):
about what's pulling you. Maybe it's a career path. You're
being pulled towards something less conventional. Maybe you want to
start your own business. Look if it feels right to you,
just go for it, because you might end up inspiring
others by being the first one to take that step.
Ralph Waldo Emerson said, do not follow where the path
(04:37):
may lead, go instead where there is no path, and
leave a trail. And you can find that quote on
the Toby and Chili page at washfm dot com.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
That can be scary, but it can also be powerful.
Thank you Chili. Coming up next, It's just starting to
feel like fall around here, but Chili is already thinking
ahead to Christmas. She did something that could actually help
save you some time this holiday season. Share her holiday
hack with us.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
Next.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Good Morning, It's Toby and Chilly in the Morning, ninety
seven point one wash FM. I'm kidd o'she it's beginning
to look a lot like Christmas at Chilia Mahr's house.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
Well, let me just say, I don't usually do my
holiday shopping this far in advance, and I know some
people have started even before me. But I was at
Costco okay, and I was not there to purchase any
Christmas gifts.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
But they have all their Christmas stuff out.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Now, of course they do. It's October eight.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
Uh huh, why not let's give all the holidays and
go right to Christmas. But they had pre boxed and
wrapped in Christmas wrapping paper some Belgian chocolates and it
was like, really, nice price, and I thought, oh gosh,
who could I give this to? Because you start to think, oh,
this is could be a great gift. And I was like, oh,
(05:50):
this is a perfect gift for the teachers, like the
music teacher, pe teacher. They're called specials teachers in my
son's school. So I bought enough for all the teachers. Now,
on the one hand, and I'm really proud of myself
that I got something done.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
Yeah, here's what Jenue usually happens.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
Though, I forget that I bought them the gifts and
I end up buying them gifts again. Okay, or I
remembered I bought them gifts. I think I got them
gifts at Costco. But where did I put those?
Speaker 4 (06:19):
So I end up screwing myself in the end.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
Anyway, you should just wait till the last minute and
do it all the system. But two weeks out, I
also don't see a problem with this because at some point, yes,
somebody's getting a box of chocolates, whether it's the teacher
or whether it's you. Yeah, well this is true.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
I'm gonna have a lot of nice packages boxes of chocolate.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Actually, all right. Chili is working on top stories coming
up at the top of the hour, plus we've find
up a bunch of music for your Wednesday drive in.
We'll get back to that next with Toby and Chilly
in the Morning on ninety seven point one wash FM.

Top of the Hour.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
President Trump indicated that some furloughed government workers might receive
back pay, while others may not, depending on their roles.
His comments came after a memo suggested that not all
federal employees are guarantee back pay. Attorney General Pam Bondi
faced intense questioning from the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday on
issues like National Guard deployments, the Epstein files, and also
(08:10):
Jacksmith's investigation into false electors. She defended her record, highlighting
significant progress in her first eight months, including crime reductions
in DC and Memphis. A major Goodwill donation center that's
located on South Glee Road in Arlington is closing later
this month to make way for a redevelopment project. The
site will be transformed to include one hundred and twenty
(08:32):
new affordable housing units, with plans to open a new
Goodwill store nearby as part of that initiative. A new
wallet Hub ranking of the worst US cities for drivers
puts Philadelphia at number one worst. The study looked at
factors like gas prices, traffic delays and car insurance costs.
Speaker 4 (08:53):
DC came in.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Third and Baltimore tenth. And According to a recent survey
of people over the age of fifty, many in the
age group consider it their most fulfilling decade. Researchers discovered
that forty two percent of people fifty and over say
they now understand what they want from life, while others
report having more time for enjoyable activities, deeper relationships, and
(09:17):
greater emotional stability. Forecast for today, the clouds will give
way to sun later on highs around seventy Right now
sixty seven in Silver Spring.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
All right, Chilli, thanks a lot. I'm kidd o'shee coming
up next. Yesterday we were talking taking a poll should
there be an age limit on dressing up for Halloween?
Eight sixty six wash FM one. We are still getting
calls about that this morning, Phil and Alexandria and Jenness
in Baltimore going to join the conversation next here on
ninety seven point one wash FM. Father Figure George Michael
(09:49):
ninety seven point one wash FM with Toby and Chile
in the morning, I'm kiddo'sha. We're taking a poll should
there be an age limit on dressing up for Halloween.
We started this yesterday and we are continuing the conversation today.
Speaker 6 (10:00):
Now.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
I don't think that there really should be I think
it's fun to put on a costume once a year
and to trick or treat or not trick or treat.
Speaker 4 (10:07):
I love it. But you, on the other hand.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
After thirteen, you're you should be an adult and no
more messing around with these costumes. Aham, Phil and Alexandria.
Should there be an age limit? Man? I don't think
you should ever stop dressing up for Halloween.
Speaker 7 (10:20):
You dress up as a kid, and then once you're
too old to trick or treat, then you just stay
home and you dress up, but you scare the kids.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
We do trick or treat. I'm looking forward to dressing
up this year.
Speaker 4 (10:30):
I can't wait.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
I love Halloween. You got to scare the kids.
Speaker 4 (10:32):
Oh that's nice.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
So it's a whole new way of doing things exactly.
Jenness in Baltimore, welcome to the show.
Speaker 8 (10:39):
I think anybody should dress up for Halloween as long
as they possibly can. We live in Baltimore and like kids,
just don't trick or treat anymore. We sat out last
year with a bucket of candy, and we're like forcing
teenagers to take candy, and they.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
Thought we were weird.
Speaker 8 (10:55):
Kids just just they go up too quick nowadays, And
any teenager that is going to take the time to
dress up for Halloween and go door to door, I'm like,
take all my candy because that means they're not out
doing stupid things. They're getting into trouble.
Speaker 4 (11:13):
Wow, Jenness is all fired up. I thank you.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
And this is anybody who lives in Baltimore. Yeah, Jenness
has got plenty of goodies for you.
Speaker 5 (11:23):
Okay, Shelby and Chili's nearly impossible question.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
Find Danessa's house. All right, We've got some goodies for
you right now. What is today's question?
Speaker 3 (11:31):
Seventy percent of Americans admit they've eaten this straight out
of the package?
Speaker 4 (11:36):
What is it?
Speaker 2 (11:38):
Eight sixty six Wash FM one eight six six nine
two seven four three six one playing for tickets see

Speaker 3 (11:48):
Seventy percent of Americans admit they have eaten this right
out of the package.
Speaker 4 (11:54):
What is it?
Speaker 2 (11:55):
If you know the answer to the nearly impossible question,
you could win those ildivo tickets. Good luck.
Speaker 5 (12:02):
Toby and Chili's nearly impossible.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
Question, and I kiddoshe in for Toby. We're playing for

Speaker 2 (12:18):
Eight six, six, nine two seven four three sixty one.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
Good morning, Linda, thanks for listening to us in Herndon.
You've got the question, what do you think? The answer is.
Speaker 5 (12:29):
It's gotta be cookie dough?
Speaker 4 (12:31):
So do you.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
Taste or take some cookie dough and eat it before
you bake it?
Speaker 4 (12:37):
And are you worried about any kind of salmonilla?
Speaker 5 (12:40):
Well, you're assuming that, I think not, but I would.
I have had cookie dough in the past, and no,
I'm really not concerned about it.
Speaker 6 (12:48):
I probably should be.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
No, it tastes so good it's not worth being worried
about that.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
No, exactly, I do the same thing. I roll that
dice and I feel fine. And yes, cookie, you know,
is the right answer. Seventy percent of Americans admit they
eat it straight out of the package.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
Congratulation, Thank you so much.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Got those tickets see ILDVO at Capitol one Hall. Should
be an awesome show.

The government shutdown has entered its eighth day. Senate Majority
leader John Thune announced another vote will take place this
morning on both the GOP and the Democratic spending bills,
despite both those measures having failed five times already. Meanwhile,
travelers are facing major delays at airports across the country
after several air traffic controllers called out sick during the
(14:51):
ongoing government shutdown. Locally frustrated passengers dealt with long wait
times and cancelations as staffing shortages disrupted FLOS light schedules.
A Metro fair evator learned to costly lesson after he
got his footstuck between a fairgate. This happened along the
wall at the DuPont Circle station Sunday night. DC Fire
(15:12):
and Rescue helped him and then he was handed a
fifty dollars citation and was told to leave. DC leaders
have decided not to extend the summer youth curfew, which
had barred anyone seventeen and under from being in public
after eleven PM for the past three months. While the
curfew is ending, some council members indicated they may consider
a similar policy down the line. Some Loud County residents
(15:35):
are demanding answers after an early Sunday explosion that's happened
along Sparkleberry Terraces and it shook the neighborhood and dislodged
several manhole covers. While officials say the blast is not
linked to utility issues, they still have not revealed the
exact cause, and a new survey show's mundane office tasks
(15:56):
are driving burnout among US workers. Employees say they spend
about a half of their day on low value work
like emails and data entry, and a third blame outdated
technology for adding stress. Forecast for today, the cloudy skies
will give way to lots of sunshine later on beautiful
(16:17):

Speaker 2 (16:21):
Can we have those required training videos to the list?
I'm kidd o'she and for Toby coming up next to
our Susan g Cohmen. More than pink walk is coming
up this weekend and next. Richard, who is a WASHFM
listener is going to share his story and why Breast
Cancer Awareness Month is so important to him. We'll hear
his message next. Good Morning, It's Toby and Chilly in
(16:42):
the Morning on ninety seven point one Wash FM. I'm
kidd o'she This weekend, our Susan g Comen More than
Pink Walk is taking place.
Speaker 3 (16:50):
It's at National Harbor. It's happening Saturday morning. And on Monday.
I was talking about how because it is Breast Cancer
Awareness Month, how important it is for women forty and
over to get mammograms and also to do monthly self checks.
And you know, Richard in Potomac who listens to the show,
(17:10):
actually had breast cancer himself and he wanted to tell
us a little bit more about it. Good morning, Richard,
go ahead.
Speaker 6 (17:18):
Well, I was went to the doctors and I had
a spike nodule on my right breast and he checked it,
did a biopsy, said yep, we got to remove it,
and he gave me a long, six inch scar. And
I said, why so much? He said, we want to
make sure we got it all.
Speaker 3 (17:33):
Did you even think for a moment that that's what
it could be? Since we talked so much more about
women being diagnosed with that and what was your reaction
when you found out I was sun.
Speaker 6 (17:43):
I had no idea. I mean it was I had
no pain. It was just a freak thing. I had
it looked at and it was amazing. They got it
and had no problems since.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
Richard, what would you tell men who are listening right
now about doing breast cancer self exams?
Speaker 6 (17:59):
You have something you're not really sure of. I haven't
looked at. That's the key.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
That's great advice for the call. Yeah, Richard, thank you
for sharing your story, and we would love for you
to share your story anytime with us at eight six

Speaker 2 (18:31):
Right, coming up next here with Toby and Chilly in
the morning. Are we all fed up with Nickel and diming?
A story went viral this week after a woman got
upset for being charged a dollar for an extra sauce.
We'll share that story next. Toby and Chilly in the Morning,
ninety seven point one wash FM. I'm kidd O'Shea. Are
we all fed up with nickel and diming?
Speaker 3 (18:50):
Well, this woman in Kentucky certainly was. She went to
a little Caesar's restaurant. This was back in January, I guess,
but only now we're finding out about it because she
court she got so upset when there was a dollar
surcharge for extra sauce because she thought it would be free.
Speaker 4 (19:07):
I just got a little extra sauce that.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
She caused over one thousand dollars of damage to the restaurant.
Like she was very upset. That's going overboard a reaction there.
But we've I think most of us have been in
a situation where we thought we were being nickel and
dimed and not happy about it.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
Chili, there is a fast casual restaurant that I have
not returned to because they nickel and dimed me.
Speaker 4 (19:34):
What did they do?
Speaker 2 (19:35):
And this happened like a year and a half ago,
and I refuse to go back into this restaurant. Okay,
I had made a purchase and then I asked for
a cup of ice, and guess what They charged me
fifty cents for the cup of ice after I just
paid for a twelve dollars salad, and I was like goodbye,
oh wow again day. I did do one thousand dollars
(19:56):
in damage, but I probably cost them a thousand dollars
in business.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
Because you're never years.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
That's true. What about you?
Speaker 3 (20:03):
Well, yes, there is a restaurant that I have not
gone back to because of a nickolindime situation. Usually when
my son gets a kid's meal, what is included is
a drink for the child. Yeah, and he had wanted
to try iced tea. He's like, oh, I want to
try it.
Speaker 4 (20:17):
Sure, he didn't like it, and instead of having that.
Speaker 3 (20:20):
Iced tea go to waste, I drank it. The server
saw me drinking his iced tea and ended up charging
me for a beverage. I'm like, no, that was my son.
She's like, yeah, but you drank it.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
Oh no, are you serious?
Speaker 4 (20:32):
Been back?
Speaker 2 (20:33):
No?
Speaker 4 (20:33):
I'm not.
Speaker 3 (20:34):
There are plenty of other restaurants we can go to
that have good kids.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
Yes, and it's a nice tea. Okay, we cannot be
alone on this eight six six nine two, seven four
three sixty one or eight six six wash FM one
