Speaker 2 (00:05):
Eighties Toby and Chilly in the Morning on ninety seven
point one Wash FM. I'm kiddo'she from Good Morning Washington.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
Are you well rested this morning? Not really, Chilly? No,
Why do you ask well? Because I noticed that you
sent a message about the show at eight forty seven
last night.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
So because we get up in the middle of the
night to get here for the radio show, you think
that's a little late. You would have thought, oh, he
should be sleeping by that. I thought you would be
in bed by eight thirty. Well, I was in bed
at eight thirty. I was still sending texts and emails
at eight thirty.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
Now, I'm not your mother, but I did notice a
Timestamps are something I notice all the time when people
message me because of our schedule. Right, the people that
are close to me, yeah, know that I am asleep
or it should be asleep, And please do not send
me texts or emails or anything, because the do not
(00:58):
disturb is not on.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
My You don't turn it on because you're always worried
if you oversleep, no one will be able to get
a hold of you.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
That's exactly right. So, unlike normal people, I get vibration
alerts anytime somebody sends me a message in the middle
in my middle of the night. I know, eight forty
five PM is not the middle of the night for
most people.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
And we should point out what I sent in the
group text was an article I had seen on like Instagram,
which is mainly what I forward to friends all the time.
But I have friends that also live on the West
Coast that are three hours behind, and sometimes I'm like,
should I send this right now or should I send
it later?
Speaker 3 (01:32):
So I just send it right now, even those three
o'clock in the morning. Don't change. Don't change. Don't change
for me. I'm just letting you know I always notice
the timestamps.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Okay, I appreciate that. And that was Chilly's first question.
She's like, well, you were up at eight thirty. That's
why you're tired. I was tired because I was watching
sports last night. We had the Brewers, we had the Phillies,
we had the Caps. Yeah, they're so we'll get a
complete recap on top stories coming up next.

(04:34):
Right here on ninety seven point one wash FM, I'm
kidd O'sheae with Toby and Chilly. In the morning, it's
time for our morning mindset.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
Richard Weitely said, lose an hour in the morning, and
you will spend all day looking for it. How you
start your morning can really set the tone for your
entire day. So if you waste time early on, maybe
you sleep in too long, you scroll on your phone,
you're just not organized, you're gonna feel like you're constantly
playing catch up the rest of the day. So you
(05:01):
should use that first our intentionally move with purpose. That way,
you're more in control, because that lost hour doesn't seem
like much, but it can throw off everything that follows.
Richard Waiteley said, lose an hour in the morning, and
you will spend all day looking for it. And you
can find that quote or share one you like on
(05:24):
the Toby and Chili page at WASHEFM dot com excellent?
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Coming up next, what would you have done if your
smoke detector started the low battery beep? We all know
what that is in the middle of the night. I'll
tell you what I did and why it caused me
a lot of anxiety.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
Next, Toby and.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Chilly in the morning, ninety seven point one WASHFM. I'm
kidd o'she all right? I want to know what everyone
would have done in this situation. The other night, I
was laying in bed. I was deep dead asleep, okay,
and all of a sudden, the smoke detector in the
bedroom started doing the low battery chirp.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
Oh yes, and it's a very notice sound, right.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
Woke me up out of the deep sleep. Was feeling good.
We go to bed early because of the time we
wake up. It was about ten thirty at.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
Night, so you probably have to grab a battery and
change it. Oh no, Chili, what I did not grab
a battery.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Instead, I removed the smoke detector, which is hardwired in
our unit, and took the battery out. Because Chili, I
don't we don't have a D battery in the house.
I don't keep D batteries around you don't have a battery, Daddy.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
What is a battery, Dad? It's like a case where
you keep all kinds of different batteries. Oh okay, so
please tell me, at least for my own piece of mind,
you have other smoke detectors.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
So we live in a one bedroom, eight hundred square
foot apartment in Washington, d C. We have three smoke
detectors in the entire unit, two of them which are
right outside the bedroom. Okay, so well that was my
only piece of mind. However, once I removed everything and
I got it to stop chirping, I went, I laid
back down. I'm like, well, wait, the bedroom door shut,
(06:59):
So what if there's something still in the bedroom that
is trying to alert us about and I'm not gonna know.
And then Kyle and Biggie and I are going to
wake up and they're gonna say, there's the smoke detector.
So the paranoia kept you up anyway all night. I
should have just walked down the street to find a
d battery.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
No, you could have done a lot of things in
that case. Hopefully you've already handled the situation where the
paranoia continues.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Yes, I will take care of it later today oh okay.
But also we were talking about Christmas gifts yesterday.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
Maybe you know what you can get me exactly A
battery daddy, early daddy. Okay, that's what it's called.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
There is new technology to help when you get an
unknown call, and we are about to find out if
it works well.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
Apple's latest iOS seventeen update adds a new feature called
Ask Reason for Calling. When someone who's not in your
contact calls your iPhone, it automatically answers with a polite,
automated message asking for the person's name and their reason
for calling, and then that caller is placed on hold
while their response is transcribed to a text and sent
(11:23):
to the person you're calling, and then that person can
decide whether to accept the call or right back why
they can't accept the call at the moment.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
And I know this technology has kind of existed if
you had a Google phone number, they have something similar.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
But I don't know about that texting and all of
that part of it. I'm an Android person, so we
don't have this. I am wondering though, if this actually works.
Do you mind? Because I know you've got an iPhone.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
I have an iPhone, I've done the update. I get
unknown calls all the time. This is fabulous.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
The radio station studio number is not a contact.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
Yepkay, okay, let's call Okay, We're going to dial it
up right here, I see what happens. I'll talk into
it the unknown call. Okay, I accept Chili's call. Let's
see here, Hi, if you record your name and reason
for calling, I'll see if this person is available.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
Hi, it's Chili. Hey kid, it looks like it's working.
Call me back. Thanks, Please stay on the line. So
now it's music. It's supposed to be texting you. It did,

Hey kid with one D not two. It looks like
you're it's working. Call me back.

did you do? I just accepted it. Hey, we're talking.
We're talking on the phone. Oh my god. Okay, bye bye.

answer is? Oh, it's got to be eating your vegetables.
Sounds like you have experience trying to get kids to
eat the veggies.

Oh yeah, I used to trade them off the skittles.
Speaker 3 (14:12):
Oh oh, you eat this broccoli and I'll give you
a skittle. That's it. Very smart. Yeah, and now parents
are sneaky with their veggies. They somehow put it into
baked goods so they don't know that they're eating vegetables.
