Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point
one washem.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Apologies in Advance from the Toby and Appath to Toby
and Chili in the Morning ninety seven point one wash FM,
Washington's variety from the eighties nineties. Today Chile, I have
to admit I'm feeling a little fatigued today. The routine
of the schedule is setting in and my body is
reminding me that you're three days back into a routine
(00:26):
you weren't in for two months because you were out
on medical leap. Yes, and now I'm like, I'm panting,
I'm like out of breath.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
Yeah, Nomy, I get it. Your knee is still slow
to recover. But you did share some good news with
me in a textas.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Yea earlier this morning I sent you a OT. I'm like,
I was discharged from occupational therapy. By the way, did
you know occupational therapy has nothing to do with occupations?
I did? I mean, who knew?
Speaker 3 (00:50):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (00:50):
But I found out yesterday. I was talking to Brittany,
who was my therapist over at Adventist Healthcare, the rehabilitation
hospital in Rockville, and She's like, would you mind too
much if we started you today and I go I
She's like, I don't think there's anything else that I
can teach you. Oh good, there's nothing else that you.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
You're more independent now than you were a few weeks ago,
and that's why you've got now. You still have pete physical.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Oh yeah, yeah, physical therapy. The knee's not out of
the woods yet. But as far as taking a bath
in a shower by myself, I'm good to go. Even
standing up in the shower good. Very far as being
able to get around, I know what I need. I
know what my limitations are. In fact, they use my limitations.
Coming up this morning, I'm like, don't rush, take your time,
don't worry about a time clock. You don't need to
(01:34):
worry about it. You have a viable excuse. And I'm like, okay,
So I just kind of slowed down because I felt
myself rushing.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
Well, you could just get up earlier, and that'll well, no,
there was that, well, I was up early.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
But it's just everything that I do is going to
take extra time. That's one of the things I have
to keep in mind is that until I'm back to
one hundred percent with two legs that work fine, instead
of one knee. That's crazy. I just have to breathe
and enjoy the ride that is life and see all
of the fun things that pass by. I mean, so
(02:06):
here we are today, chilly. Why are you feeling good today?
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Well, just real quickly, it's a week before Thanksgiving, so
I'm grateful for that.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Oh wow, we're totally a week away.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
They are a week from today.
Speaker 2 (02:15):

Speaker 2 (19:42):
There's a new sleep craze online. Maybe you've heard of
the trend of the potato bed trend Toby and Chili
in the morning. It is ninety seven point one Wash FM.
Have you wrapped up in a potato bed? Maybe you're going,
what are they talking about? Potatoes in my bed? No chili?
Why don't you tell us what is involved in this
new trend that's got everybody talking this week.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
You flip a fitted sheet upside down, and then you
stuff the edges of that fitted sheet with pillows and
blankets and basically turn it into a very large human
nest on top of your bed. It looks cozy. People
say it feels like a warm hug. I look at
that and I think how hot can one get? I
(20:21):
mean it would be sweating so bad, covered and surrounded
by all that cushioning.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
Yeah, that's right. You got to keep your heads up
because all those layers they trap heat. The extra softness,
it might mess with your back or neck. So you know,
if you get up sores sweaty, don't blame us. You
chose to follow the trend about the potato bed gimmick.
And I first read about this and dug into it.
I kept coming back to the thought of getting into
a freshly made bed.
Speaker 3 (20:47):
Well, you would have to freshly make this potato thing
on top of your bed. Yeah, the fitted sheet and
everything and getting in and out of that, and it's
just another whole layer to make. But this is obviously
looking on TikTok. A lot of the younger generation doing this.
If they want to do this, I've at it. If
it helps you sleep, by all means, do whatever you
gotta do to get a good night.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
So I wonder if my daughter's doing that. That's why
she sleeps all day now that she's a college graduate
and not looking for a gig. She's just potato betting
all day. Who do want to see what this potato
beds all about. We've got everything you need on the
Toby and Chili page at washfm dot com. Speaking of
my daughter, we had a very substantial talk this week.
(21:29):
It was actually one of the best talks we've had
about entering into the workforce, not being afraid to enter
into the workforce, and more. This might be something you
can relate to if you have someone in your household
who has just graduated from college or university. We'll get
into this coming up in just a few minutes. Toby
and Chillian The Morning continues Toby and Chillian in the
(21:52):
Morning at ninety seven point one WASHFM. Remember if you
have a thought or an opinion on something you hear
Chilly and I talking about, just grab the phone to
call us at eighty six six nine two seven forty
three sixty one, or tap to talk back microphone if
you're listening to us on your iHeartRadio app. Chili, why
don't you recap that text that I sent you the
other day about a conversation with my daughter.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
You were talking to her about having her apply for
jobs and using connections through her school Emerson to get
something in the creative writing field, which is what she
has a degree in.
Speaker 2 (22:25):
And I feel like she's a bit dejected, because, yeah,
it's a tough time in the world, and I think
she's feeling probably little poopy pants, a little bummed she didn't,
you know, get a job at like even a Starbucks
or a target, And I'm like, well, Kyla, you know,
don't let no stop you from going after your future.
I'm trying to raise Kyla Chili the way I was raised.
(22:46):
My parents supported my half cocked idea that radio would
be something. Twenty something years later, it's worked out. Okay,
knock on wood. That's what I'm trying to do with Kyla.
Writings are passion, But I can't get her through through
the door.
Speaker 5 (23:00):
No.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
And that's a very good rule to pass on to
your own kids, Like, I can only do so much.
And it's great that you're supporting her, but she's got
to do the hustling and she's got to do the
connecting and networking. You can't. You can't save her from this.
Speaker 2 (23:14):
You can't steel her around, you know. And boy, it's
tough being a parent, isn't it, because you want the
best for your kids.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
Yeah, But the.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
Best for your kids isn't doing I don't think everything
for them.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
No, And your parents did it right, I mean, they
supported your passion and they let you figure it out yourself.
Speaker 5 (23:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
I didn't really think that they were supporting me when
they booted me out of their unfinished basements in the
Pocono Mountains to get my life started. But you know
what the patient needed, the medicine. Eight six six, nineteen
seven forty three sixty one. What's the role your parents
had with you that now you have passed on to
your kids? Call us now eight six six, nineteen seven,
