Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point
one Wash.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
That good morning, You're waking up with Toby and Chili
a ninety seven point one Wash FM. I'm kiddoshe Chili.
How does it make you feel when someone says to
you you look cute? I just said that to you
a moment ago. Yes, and then I was like, oh,
I shouldn't say no. One should say that to anybody ever,
because it implies that other times I no, but I
(00:27):
wanted to clarify. After I was walking out of the studio,
I saw what you were wearing and said, hey, you
look cute. And then it's like, no, because you look
cute every day. You look very nice every day.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
Thank you. Yeah, so let me tell you I'm wearing
a sweater dress. Remember I wore red lipstick and you
pointed that out. Today, I'm wearing a sweater dress because
it just felt like wearing the sweater dress. And I
don't usually wear dresses in here, so that's how I
interpreted it. He noticed I don't normally wear a dress, right,
so he made a comment about it doesn't mean you
(00:58):
prefer me in jeans other skirts. I just yes, thank you.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
But before you tell someone they look here, just remember
maybe they'll think I never looked at.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
This, or I just say I got a win.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
That's why I finally look good.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
There you go, I got something out of it.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Yeah, well, we hope you are getting started and having
a win today as well. Chilie's going to update us
on top stories here in just a few minutes.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
All right, let's keep talking about winning. Democrats are celebrating
after big wins in not only Virginia, but New York
and New Jersey. We've got more on those stories coming
up in just a few minutes on ninety seven point
one Wash FM.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
Democrats are celebrating after yesterday's key elections. Democratic socialist Zoran
Mamdani is going to be New York's next mayor. Meanwhile,
here in Virginia, Abigail Spamberger made history by winning the
election as Virginia's first female governor. Joining her victory, we
have Democrats Jay Jones elected Attorney General and Gazala Hashmi
(02:02):
becoming the Lieutenant governor. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy says that
sections of the country's airspace may have to be closed
if the government shut down drags on. He warned that
there will be quote mass chaos, including mass flight delays
and cancelations if the shutdown continues into next week. Flights
at Reagan National Airport were briefly halted yesterday after a
(02:24):
bomb threat targeted a United Airlines flight from Houston. The
plane was moved to a secure area and passengers were
safely evacuated and now the FBI is investigating. Authorities in
Prince George's County are searching for four armed suspects who
robbed a Brinks armored trug outside the Navy Federal Credit
Union in Clinton on Monday. A Brink's employees sustained minor
(02:45):
injuries during the assault. A new report ranks hospitals in
the DC area among the dirtiest in the country. The
study measured cleanliness based on infection rates, inspection results, and
reports of unclean bathrooms and rooms. Now Delaware topped the
list for the dirtiest hospitals, but it was followed by
DC and thousands of Jeep plug in hybrid SUVs have
(03:08):
been recalled by Chrysler because of a risk of battery fires.
The recall applies to Jeep wranglers with model years twenty
twenty to twenty twenty five and also Jeep Grand Cherokees
with model years twenty twenty two to twenty twenty six.
Forecast Today, it's gonna be really nice sunny seventy two
the high right now, though it's still cold, thirty eight
(03:29):
in Germantown.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
All right, Chili, thanks a lot. Coming up next to
our morning mindset, Chili will read us an inspirational quote
to get us in the right mindset and we'll share
that with you. Next Great Nineties throwback to the foujis
ninety seven point one Wash FM with Toby and Chili
in the morning. I'm kiddoshe inspiring you every day with
an inspirational quote. It's time for our morning mindset.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
This one is by Sidney Jay Harris, who said the
whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows.
He's saying that the goal of education isn't just to
make you reflect on yourself, but to help you see
and understand the world around you. You know, a mirror
represents looking only at yourself. A window represents seeing beyond
your own perspective and also discovering new ideas, people, and experiences.
(04:13):
It is about turning knowledge into insight and curiosity about
the world. So again, Sydney Jay Harris said, the whole
purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows. And
you can find that quote on the Toobian Chili page,
or you could also follow WASHFM on Instagram where we
(04:34):
post it every day.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Yes, and then you can share it with a friend
that may need to hear that quote. I love our
morning mindset because of that. All right, thank you very much,
Chili coming up next. Yesterday we were talking to listeners
that have already finished their Christmas decorating and guess what,
they're not alone. We are continuing our conversation at eight
six six, nine two seven four three sixty one. Do
(04:55):
you know someone who already has all of their Christmas
decorations up? Or you can always leave us a talk
by opening up the iHeart app and using the red
microphone to leave a message. Toby and Tilly in the
Morning ninety seven point one wash FM, I'm kidd O'Shea.
It is November fifth, uh huh, and some people already
have their Christmas decorations completely done.
Speaker 5 (05:14):
Well.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
Yesterday we had a caller who said that he had
decorated for Christmas by the end of Halloween. So we're like, really,
how often does that happen? Apparently, kid, that caller wasn't
the only one.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Yeah, we got to talk back. You can leave us
a talk back anytime by opening up the iHeart app
and using the red microphone and leaving us a message.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
So Shara in Waldorf left us this one.
Speaker 6 (05:37):
And I think it's totally valid to start decorating for
Christmas this time because some people they like to celebrate early,
especially Filipinos, they start decorating in October because there's these
things called the Ber months, which is October, November, December,
and that's for Christmas celebrations specifically, and you know, it's
(05:58):
really fun and very fast for people in the Philippines.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
I didn't know that.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
Some people I learned that today too, they might start
decorating now in October because of that.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
And now we've got someone calling in Newburgh.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Greed, good morning. What did you want to say?
Speaker 3 (06:14):
I'm just calling to let you guys know.
Speaker 5 (06:16):
I started putting up Christmas to core on Halloween night
and completely done.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
Wow. Is this something you do every year? Or you
just inspired to get ahead start this year?
Speaker 2 (06:28):
Bree For many years.
Speaker 5 (06:29):
When my kids were growing up, we always did it
on Thanksgiving night, But now that I've got grand children,
it's been before Thanksgiving.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
When do you typically take down everything?
Speaker 5 (06:41):
When everybody leaves on Christmas night? I start putting some
of this stuff away that night.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
Oh, so you don't wait at all.
Speaker 5 (06:50):
I'm like, I'm ready for the house to be back
to normal. So it's usually right after Christmas, like the
next day.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
Thanks so much for listening and for making us a
part of your debris. Thanks you have a good day, all.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Right, Chilli. Now, after hearing this, does this inspire you
to get started earlier this year than you normally would?
Speaker 3 (07:06):
I may just do it the week of Thanksgiving, but
not now, not now, Chu, the house is just not
ready all right.
Speaker 2 (07:13):

It is the morning after a big election. It is
also the morning after the results of our office costume contest.
So how did chilean?
Speaker 3 (10:49):
I do we did not win anything?
Speaker 7 (10:51):
What?
Speaker 3 (10:51):
Not first, not second, not even third? And let's just
say there weren't a whole lot of entries to begin with.
So that's how bad our costume must have.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
No honorable mention, nothing, No thanks for the effort, Chilian kid.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
No thanks for finally entering Chili.
Speaker 7 (11:05):

Speaker 3 (11:06):
First place winner was two lovely coworkers of ours to
Casey and Haley. They're great girls. They dressed up as
Austin Powers and Doctor Evil. Okay, they really went all
out with their costume. Second place was our morning show
down the Hall was a hot nine nine's morning show.

stuff on there. You made my T shirt, you went
to my craft store and then made a T shirt
for me.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
Don't speak to me.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
I was the anti social to your social butterfly. I
thought that was super creative. I know, but clever doesn't
always win these things, so you can only won't vote
for one, and most people are going to vote for themselves.
I would think maybe next year they should have us
be able to vote for more than one, because then
you give yourself a vote and then you can vote
on somebody. I like that, but.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
They, you know, we just can't compete with these creative people.
That's what I'm realizing.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
You're not done, though, You'll give it one more shot?
Speaker 3 (12:17):
Are you grazy?
Speaker 4 (12:18):

another chance for you to play and win tomorrow morning,
sevent ten. Right here on ninety seven point one wash FM.
Good morning, It's Toby and Chilly in the Morning ninety
seven point one wash FM, I'm kidd O'Shea. Do your
kids ever ask you questions you can't answer well?
Speaker 3 (18:43):
Yesterday and Top Stories shared a survey that said that
on average, parents are asked forty six questions a day
by their kids, and thirty eight percent of the time
they have no clue what the answer is. Now, forty
six seems like a lot, and it is because I
think when you're kids are really young, they're discovering the
world and they want to know why certain things are
(19:04):
the way they are. As they get older and they
have access to the internet, they can look up the
answer themselves. My son, who is twelve now, asks so
many questions that I have had to google more than
thirty eight.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
Percent of the okay, And do you think he asks
an average of forty six or is he above average
or right in the middle or below.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
It's gotten less because he's gotten old. But the most
recent one that comes to mind, he says to me,
why is the sky blue if it's black and outer space? Dang,
good question, dinatohk valid questions, So of course I went
to the internet.
Speaker 2 (19:44):
Uncle kid can't answer Chili.
Speaker 3 (19:46):
Can exactly anybody out there who can, But no, of
course I looked it up. In short, it's because the
blue on Earth comes from scattering in the atmosphere. Black
in space comes from the lack of an atmosphere to
scatter light. Okay, that's the short answer. But I would
love to hear what is a question a kid asked
you that totally stumped you that you have to admit
(20:07):
that you had to go to Google or the Internet
to get the answer?
Speaker 2 (20:09):
All right, I like that eight six six nine two
seven four three six one eight six six wash FM

you're listening to wash FM, save us as your number

can leave us a talkback message. We love playing those
here on the radio as well, and we'll get to
some of your calls. I'm interested to hear some of
these questions coming up next. Hope you have a great Wednesday.
(20:31):
Where Toby and Chilly ninety seven point one WASHFM. I'm
kidd Oshay. We're talking about what questions kids have asked
you that stumped you. Here's the reason why thirty.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
Eight percent of the time parents have to look up
the answer to the questions that the kids asked, because
we apparently don't know everything.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
Yeah, eight six six nine two seven four three six one.
Liz in Gaithersburg, a kid once asked me, if you
ate a magnet.
Speaker 7 (20:57):
Would your stomach stick to the fridge. I have to
seriously bar and respect how chaotic and brilliant.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
That was brilliant and also very dangerous. Liz, you should
have started with that could kill you and no, don't Yeah,
it wouldn't work. Don't eat magnets. Yeah, Jack in old Town,
Welcome to the conversation.
Speaker 4 (21:16):
My son asked me why the sun was on fire.
Speaker 3 (21:18):
I wasn't one hundred percent sure what to say, but
I think.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
I handled it, Okay. I just told him, so we
can have bright days full of warm weather. Seem to work.
That makes sense, sounds like an answer I would give
not much research.
Speaker 3 (21:32):
It'll work temporarily, but then they're going to come back
with follow up questions and you're like, uh, give me
a minute.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
