Steny Hoyer of Maryland's fifth district will reportedly retire from
(09:15):
the House at the end of his term. The eighty
six year old said he made the decision over the

Grammy winning banjo player Bella Fleck has canceled his upcoming
performance with the National Symphony Orchestra after the President's name

was added to the Kennedy Center. Fleck said the venue
has become too politically charged and flight delays may be common,
but some airlines really do perform better than others. According

Speaker 2 (10:17):
Hey, could you do us a favor here at Toby
and Chilly in the morning. Tell five friends that you
know that you get top stories at the top of
the hour the news when you listen to ninety seven
point one wash Chef m thank you in advance. We're
Toby and Chilly in the morning and coming up in
just a few minutes.
Speaker 8 (10:33):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
Oh, you threw down the gauntlet with your husband Don
and you've given him a deadline. That's oh, are you guys?
Speaker 3 (10:41):
Okay, if anyone who's ever had a sleep divorce will
understand why.
Speaker 4 (10:45):
Ooh, stay there.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
More on the way ladies and gentlemen gather around Toby
and Chilly in the morning at ninety seven point one
wash CHEFM when Chilly says she wants to talk about
throwing the gauntlet down with her husband and setting a deadline,
that to me means there's a disturbance in the force
over at the amar cul de sac.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
Chili, take it away.
Speaker 5 (11:08):
You've heard of a sleep divorce.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
That's when married couples sleep separately for peace and quiet
for many different reasons. And my husband and I have
done that off and on throughout our marriage, Okay, mostly
because he snores and I have very limited time to
get quality sleep anyway, and sometimes when he's not feeling well,
his congestion makes it worse, I know.
Speaker 5 (11:31):
So usually our sleep divorces are only when we're sick.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
So when we had the flu over the holiday, it's right,
your whole family went down for two weeks. I was
blissfully sleeping by myself, well the dog, and it was
such an amazing experience that I actually said to Dawn,
I said, listen, you have been told by a doctor
that you should probably have a sleep study because we
(11:56):
suspect you may have sleep apnea. Yes, so I said,
I don't think we should share a bed again until
you make that appointment and go and get your seatpap.
Speaker 5 (12:07):
But whatever it is you need, that's.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
Right, that's I mean, that's more than just a week
or two.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
That's not throwing down the gauntlet. That's an ultimatum. But
he really is.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
I mean, and he's and by the way, he didn't
push back much. And I will say that he did
make an appointment. Now the bad news is, unfortunately the
wait time is pretty intense, Like the first available appointment
is April, then another one said March. So no matter
what we're looking at, it could be three to four
(12:40):
months before we're sharing a bed at least during the week.
I don't care about the weekends, right, you snore away and.
Speaker 5 (12:49):
Whatever Friday night, Saturday.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
Trust me, I was going to say, he's probably going
to have better sleep too. So in the end, it's
going to be a win win win for everybody.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
Your lips to God's ears, I hope. Otherwise there's going
to be another ultimatum, poor and all out war at
the Amar Household on the Amark Hold to sack Over
in beautiful Vienna near Tyson's America's Next Great City. It's
ninety seven point one wash CHEFM. If you have any
help or thoughts you want to throw Chili's way, you
know the number. We're listening eight six six ninet two
seven forty three sixty one where Toby and Chilli in
(13:20):
the Morning Talkback's wide open for you too. Stay with
us because coming up in just a few minutes, there's
a mall in China. They're using tech to shame people.
The Internet's on all sides talking about this. They're up
in arms. Will tell you what it is that they're doing,
why they're doing it, and then there's the whole shame factor.
We'll talk about it next. Shame Shame ninety seven point
(13:44):
one wash CHEFM. It's Toby and Chili in the Morning.
There's a Chinese mall that wants to shame you if
you smoke in the bathroom, and they've done something pretty
cool with technology. They've got restroom doors that turn it
transparent so they're like smoked or frosted, no pun intended smoke.
And when they detect cigarettes smoke whom clear and everybody
(14:04):
can see you doing what you're doing in.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
There, that's right.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
They can take a picture of you and they can
broadcast it on social media. Now, I will say there
are signs and even announcements that come on if they
detect you smoking, saying warning, warning, you're about to be exposed.
So anybody who wants to take that chance, they're going
to take that chance.
Speaker 5 (14:24):
You used to smoke, Yeah, would this.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
Have deterred you from lighting up in a stall to
try to hide that you're smoking.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
I followed the rules. I went outside.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
The thing about this chili that makes me go hmmm
is that you know it's illegal in a lot of
places to smoke indoors. Now, management of the mall in
China they said that fines and bands did not stop
the habits. So that's when they said, you know what,
we're going to publicly shame people, and we're going to
tell you we're going to do it. And I don't
know exactly how I feel about that, because addiction is
(14:57):
a thing. But you know, at the same point in time,
people who are smokers know what the rules are.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
Absolutely, if you, when you were a smoker went outside
to do it, then so can they. They don't need
to be hiding out in bathrooms and smoking. But we
will have to wait and see if this is an
effective approach, and by the way, if it is, you
better believe a lot of other people will adopt the
same technology.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
That's right, thoughts eight six, six, nine two, seven forty
three sixty one or tap the talkback microphone if you've
got some. You can read more about this to Toby

Speaker 2 (21:13):
You ever cancel some plans that were set in stone
because you needed a moment for you, Toby and Chilly
in the morning, It's ninety seven point one watch FM Chilli.
I bring this up because when we're getting ready for
the show this morning, I was looking at people dot
com and I saw the story of this kid who
I guess had some plans set with moms set in
stone to go have some lunch. Happened to be like
the same week that this kid was doing a bunch
(21:35):
of I want to assume they were finals, really tough tests.
So this kid said Hey, Mom, no offense. I got
to cancel this because I need a moment to breathe.
I got to relax. So Mom took it personally, got emotional, Chili.
What do you think about canceling plans because you need
a moment.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
I've failed on the plans before because I needed to
break because I think if I show up and my
head's not in the game and I'm distracted, they're gonna notice.
And I think they'd rather have me there wanting and
you know, being present than not being So. Yes, I've
done it. Do I do it all the time? No,
you have to be selected with these things. Yes, otherwise
your friends can't ever depend on you, you know, Chilly.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
I wish I would have figured out earlier in life
that it's okay to cancel plans if you need to
take a moment, even if you commit, just be straight
up about it.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
I am the poster boy for not doing that.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
I don't think people should do it often because that
ain't cool to do to your friends or family. But
I bet there are times where you are so glad
that you canceled and it was so worth it.
Speaker 2 (22:36):
Eight six six ninety seven forty three sixty one hit
