catching the Wayne Gretzky this morning.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Yes he has. Now you're gonna make me a double get. Yes,
he needs three more more to beat Wayne Gretzky.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
So two to tie, three to beat, yes, right, Okay,
so he's on the way.

Speaker 4 (00:27):
That'll happen in the next week or so well, and.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
He's got They've got seven more games, and Gretzky's going
to be traveling with the team so that we're at
least going to the games because he'd like to be
present when this is broken, the record is broken.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
That is a reason to feel good on a Thursday
in the nation's capital before five.

Speaker 4 (00:45):
I'm feeling good before five this morning because.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
My significant other is going to hop on a helicopter
and go to some places where I don't know where

got to tell you that it seems to me that
she is having an incredible time doing what she gets
to do to make sure that.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
The morale of our Navy is very very high around
the world.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Good and it's kind of cool to be able to
live vicariously through what I get to hear about and
what little I get to see when she's off on
these missions of hers. So it's good to have that
in life. It reminds you that you know what, as
crazy as life can be for you personally, when you
start to look at it through the eyes of other people,
it really is a great thing. So find something that

(01:28):
gives you joy this morning. It could be Ovechkin catching Gretzky,
it could be a significant other's accomplishments personally that make
you proud. Whatever it is, embrace it. We're Toby and
Chilly in the morning, and you can tell us about

The author and public speaker Simon Sinek says, people don't
buy what you do. They buy why you do it.
People don't buy what you do. They could care less
about what you do. They buy why you do it?
So what does this mean to you? And I It
means that purpose feels passion. Your purpose fuels passion. If

(04:55):
you lead with your why, that will be all you
need to sell people on things. Simon Sinek, people don't
buy what you do, they buy why you do it.
So looking mire and ask yourself are you being authentic
about what it is you're trying to accomplish? Keep that
in mind today on this Thursday, the third day of April.

(05:15):
Hopefully that helped. If it did, you can hear it
again if you need it on the Toby and chilipage

the Morning.

Speaker 2 (06:02):

Speaker 5 (06:11):
It's usually the youngest child or the daughter.

I love them together. But I did favor that oldest one,
and she did turn out to be so ugly. Yeah,
we don't even speak now, sad to say.

Speaker 5 (06:51):
Okay, wow, sorry to hear that.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
I guess when you say ugly, you don't necessarily mean physically,
you mean like just you're not proud of the kind
of all they be king right.

Speaker 7 (07:02):
Correct, Like this is my world and y'all living in it.

Speaker 7 (07:33):
Well, Okay.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
I have two children, two sons. Sometimes my older is
my favorite, sometimes my younger is my favorite.

Speaker 6 (07:40):
Right, you know, my older was.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
Always I think, more loving and everything to his younger brother.
My younger, my younger son, was.

Speaker 5 (07:47):
A little more darky and everything.

Speaker 8 (07:49):
I think that, uh, you know, it varies, but I
find that there are.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
Things that I favor, that you know, that are my
favorite about each one of them.

Speaker 8 (07:57):
For different reasons.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
Christine a Lexandria, you have spoken.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
Thank you so much for that, and I see the
phones are still ringing, so we've got more time. Science
says you have a favorite when it comes to your kids,
do you yes?

Speaker 7 (08:10):

Speaker 4 (08:10):
What do you think?

Speaker 2 (08:11):
We'll get to some more of your calls coming up
after we get through news Top stories at the top
of the hour.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
On the way.

Speaker 8 (08:18):
Top Stories Top of the Hour.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
Warnings are out that US households could be significantly impacted
by the new Trump administration tariffs, and new analysis from
Yale University shows that some of the costs of the
new taxes are going to be passed on to consumers,
with the lowest earning households expected to be hit the hardest. Meanwhile,
the Senate voted last night for a resolution that would
block Trump's tariffs on Canadian products. Four Republicans join the

(08:44):
Democratic led measure. A Southeast DC man has been indicted
by a federal grand jury for allegedly kicking and injuring
a child at a metro station back in July of
twenty twenty three. Investigators say a mother and child were
on the escalator at the Mount Vernon Square State when
the twenty six year old allegedly kicked the two year
old without provocation. Fairfax Radiological Consultants has agreed to pay

(09:08):
the federal government nearly three million dollars. Investigators accused the
medical group of misrepresenting its payroll to get out of
repaying part of a six point eight million dollar paycheck
protection program. Loan Alex Ovechkin now just three goals away
from breaking Wayne Gretzky's NHL record. He scored the Capitol's

(09:28):
only goal last night as they lost five to one
against the Carolina Hurricanes, and the Caps still have seven
games left, and Kelly Clarkson reportedly considering leaving her talk
show when her contract expires next year to spend more
time with her kids, and now NBC executives are exploring
ways to retain her. Finally, according to a survey, one

(09:50):
third of American workers say they don't drink their water
most days until after three pm. And this is despite
eighty seven percent of respondents understanding the importance of staying hydrated.
Forecast today cloudy, humid, and windy. There is a chance
of some isolated storms later. Highs around eighty oh right
now fifty six in Laurel.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
I'm Toby na belong with Chiliamar and we've been talking
this morning about you and your favorite child.

Speaker 4 (10:16):
Yes, you do have one. Don't take our word for it,
believe the science.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Well, it seems you have a few thoughts about these
favorite kids in your life, the ones you love more
than the others.

Speaker 5 (10:27):
Well, I mean it's love equally. Okay, Well, there's a favorite.

Speaker 4 (10:30):
That's what they say.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
And you have some things to say, you want to
add to the conversation, and so you will. Next as
Toby and Chilly in the Morning continues at eight six
six ninety seven forty three sixty one, circle back to
a few of your calls. Eight sixty six nine two
seven forty three sixty one. Toby and Chilly in the Morning,
you're talking favorites, Dennis with us, So tell us about
yours three.

Speaker 9 (10:52):
Kids, a boy, two girls in that order. And when
the boy was born, of course he was the first,
so he was favorite. Then a girl came on, so
she was a favorite for a while, and the third
one now is the favorite. And I'll say this, she
was one of the more difficult ones growing up. There
was a whole year she didn't even talk to me
because of something that happened between us. She locked me

(11:14):
out of her room and I said, opened the door.
She didn't, so I took the door off the hinges.
But anyway, she is the one now who cares more.
And like, you know, I'm old and slow walking. So
when everybody else gets out of the car and goes
towards the movie theater or whatever, she's the one who
waits behind for me. And she's the one who is

(11:35):
always hey, what about dad? And so yeah, I'll give
her that. So she's she's the favorite now.

Speaker 6 (11:41):
And I just got to walk her down the aisle
about a month ago.

Speaker 9 (11:45):
So she's somebody else's problem.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
Now, are you gonna make me all emotional? And you
drop that bomb?

Speaker 5 (11:52):
Yeah, well you.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
Know what, Dennis, It sounds like you agree that you
could love them all equally, but their action sometimes make
them a fave.

Speaker 9 (12:02):
And my son is coming back up because he had
this period when he didn't call and talk to us
a lot.

Speaker 6 (12:07):
It was just sort of a loneeness. And now every
day he calls on the way.

Speaker 9 (12:12):
Home and he chit chats, tells us.

Speaker 6 (12:15):
What's going on, how bad things are, how good things are.
So I appreciate that the middle child just moved in
with us because of constant stuff during this tough time.

Speaker 9 (12:25):
Yeah, they're all loved. You guys are always my favorite
morning show host.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
Oh thank you, Dennis. We appreciate Where do you listen
to us from? Where do you live?

Speaker 8 (12:35):
Burke Love Virginia?

Speaker 9 (12:37):
And I'm coming up to rest In today for a
seminar on E Discovery, So that ought to be fun.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Yeah, well, try not to fall asleep during the discovery
session of the presentation.

Speaker 9 (12:50):
Have a great day, guys, You're number one.

Speaker 8 (12:53):
Toby and Chilly's nearly impossible question.

Speaker 4 (12:55):
There's Billy Jimmy Lude Live. Here's the question.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
Each year in the US, about five hundred million of
these are purchased and it is sports related.

Speaker 5 (13:04):
So what are they?

Speaker 2 (13:05):
Eight six six nine two seven forty three sixty one
is the number dirks Jeffy Lub Live this summer, Thank
You Live Nation.

Speaker 4 (13:12):
Here's the question again. If you get it right, you're going.

Speaker 3 (13:15):
Each year in the US, about five hundred million of
these are purchased.

Speaker 5 (13:19):
What are they?

Speaker 2 (13:20):
Eight sixty six ninety two seven forty three sixty one
is the number? Call out play when we'll all learn
something new together. It is you're nearly a possible question
for Thursday, and it's.

Speaker 8 (13:29):
All Toby and Chilly's nearly impossible question.

Speaker 4 (13:32):
Coem correct with that question one more time. Please.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
Each year in the US, about five hundred million of
these are purchased.

Speaker 5 (13:40):
It is sports related. What are they?

Speaker 2 (13:43):
Over to Saverna Park? Karen, good morning and welcome to
Toby and Chilly in the morning. How are you doing today?

Speaker 8 (13:49):
I'm pretty good.

Speaker 4 (13:50):
Awesome.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
Well, you've got the question. What is your guest for
these tickets to see Dirk's Bentley at Jeffy lub Live,
Thank You Live Nation this summer? Have you ever baptized
to golf ball like in a water hazard? Do you
play golf?

Speaker 7 (14:03):
I do not.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
Well, she's probably seen some stray golf balls here and there.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
True, they go flying that way. Sometimes they're just like magnets.
They're attracted to the water. It's a weird thing, it is.

Speaker 3 (14:15):
That's a great guest this morning, Karen.

Speaker 5 (14:19):
It's also the correct answer.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
Congratulations, Thank you very much. You're going to see Dirk
Spentley now at Jiffy loub Live. You got some tickets
all because you knew a thing or two about golf balls.
Congratulations again, thank you. And if you want to know
about Dirk's at Jiffy loub Live, get to washfm dot
com check out the concerts page. Thank you Live Nation
for the tickets. We've got more tomorrow morning with another

(14:42):
round of your nearly impossible question, and we've got your
news on the way and minutes. Top stories at the
top of the hour coming up.

Speaker 4 (14:47):
Don't move.

Speaker 8 (14:50):
Top stories top of the hour.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
The opening bell rings this morning after Stock's closed hire yesterday,
before the futures started dropping in pre market trading, with
investors fearing the tariffs could spark a global trade war.
DOWL futures lost around one thousand points in after hours trading.
S ANDB five hundred and Nasdaq futures also took a

(15:13):
big hit. A President Trump reportedly supports congressional action to
close a big hole in the DC budget. A continuing
resolution passed by Congress last month would force the city
to cut spending by more than a billion dollars now.
The Senate quickly passed a measure to restore the funding,
but the House has yet to consider it. A California
man has decided to plead guilty to plotting to kill

(15:36):
Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Investigators say the twenty nine
year old had called nine to one one on June
eighth of twenty twenty two after he arrived outside Kavanaugh's
Chevy Chase home and confessed to wanting to kill him.

Speaker 5 (15:51):
The FAA is.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
Now offering more support and oversight to air traffic controllers
at Reagan National Airport. The agencies also reviewing the arrival
rate at the airport and will conduct regular wellness checks.
This all comes just days after a Reagan National Air
traffic controller was arrested following an alleged fight in the
control tower.

Speaker 5 (16:11):
And according to.

Speaker 3 (16:12):
A recent survey, seventy two percent of Americans over the
age of fifty five have accumulated debt and fifty percent
are afraid they will never be able to pay off
what they owe Topping the list is credit card debt,
followed by mortgage debt. Forecast for today cloudy, humid, and windy.
There is a chance of an isolated storm lader highs

(16:34):
around eighty right now. Fifty seven in rested.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
History was made this week down at the United States
Senate when Corey Booker got up and spoke and spoke
and spoke for over twenty five hours about what was
on his mind. Right, do you think you could possibly
speak for hours NonStop about something?

Speaker 4 (16:53):
What would it be? What topic? What subject?

Speaker 2 (16:55):
Could you just take to the floor of the Senate
and just pontificate about for over twenty five hours non stop?
Think about it all right now that you're thinking about it,
give us a call it eight sixty six nine two
seven forty three sixty one or tap to talk back microphone,
because we would love to talk to you about this next.
And so the gentleman from New Jersey, Cory Booker, rose

(17:17):
and talked and talked on the floor of the Senate
for more than twenty four hours, more than a day.
You saw the news Toby and Chilly in the morning.
It's ninety seven point one watch FM. We don't want
to get political, but that's quite a feat to be
able to talk that long.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
Yeah, he broke a record twenty five hours and five
minutes longest continuous speech on the floor of the Senate.
And it begs the question, though, really, could you talk
about any particular topic for that many hours or even
half that a mint?

Speaker 2 (17:46):
I couldn't talk for a long time about a lot
of things like AI. I'm really fascinated by it this week,
but I couldn't talk for that long. No way without
a bathroom break, I'll pass.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
I think the longest I could continuously talk is maybe
like three hours, and that's a lot. And the topic
that comes to mind is like parenting a neurodivergent child,
because I'm living it right now. Talk about the resources,
the challenges, the winds.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
Yeah, it's easy to talk about things you're passionate about,
but you have to plan to talk that long, like
Senator Booker, apparently he prepped himself for this talkathon.

Speaker 4 (18:22):
That's just a lot of talking, you know.

Speaker 2 (18:25):
Tyra, Good morning and thanks for listening to us in Rockville.

Speaker 4 (18:28):
Could you talk that long? And what would you talk about?

Speaker 7 (18:31):
Why people shouldn't eat certain.

Speaker 5 (18:33):
Things when I was little.

Speaker 7 (18:35):
When I was in elementary school, I used to do
spelling bees for the kids at the lunch table by
reading the ingredients off the back of.

Speaker 5 (18:42):
The milk carton.

Speaker 7 (18:43):
So from a young age I was learning about all
these different chemicals in our food. And it blows my
mind that thirty years later, people are still eating things
that could kill them and they've never even heard of
them before because they never read the back of a
milk carton.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
Yeah, like, what is high fructose coco number nine corn syrup?

Speaker 5 (18:59):
Anyway, you made that up, but it might as well
be true.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
Is there anybody from the FDA in the house who
can answer that question? What is that that's interesting? Thank
you for calling this morning. So what could you talk
about for hours and hours?

Speaker 4 (19:11):
On end?

Speaker 2 (19:12):
Eight six, six, nine two seven forty three sixty one.
No right answer, no wrong answer, just your answer. And
if it's easier for you to use to talk back
microphone and your son into your iHeart app, feel free
to tap speak and send. We'll talk about this again
coming up in minutes, but first we have to hear
Chrissy from Haggerstown's Crazy First Date Story. She went on
a first date with someone she'd known forever, and then

(19:33):
someone showed up.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
His ex, but how he reacted left Chrissy shaking her head.

Speaker 8 (19:42):
It's Toby and Chilli's crazy first.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
Day Hagarstown, not quite wild and wonderful, but in Maryland. Chrissy,
good morning and welcome. We understand you've got a crazy
first date story to tell.

Speaker 4 (19:54):
Chili and I. We are listening.

Speaker 10 (19:55):
Yes, we actually went to school together. We were just friends.
We were actually really good friends, and then he wanted
to try to start dating, which I was kind of
hesitant at first because I was like, we're really good
friends and I don't want it to ruin the friendship.
But it ended up ruining the friendship because once I
was like, all right, we can try. And we went

(20:16):
on our first date. We were sitting down about to
eat and a girl had walked in, which I didn't
know exactly who she was, and she came walking over
to the table and she was like, hey, how are
you and he kind of looked at her. It happened
to be his ex girlfriend and they started chit chatting
at the table while I was sitting there. They were

(20:36):
talking and the one girl, I don't know why they
had broken up to begin with, but you know, she
was apologizing for something, but he was like, yeah, i'll
hit you up when I leave here. And I'm looking
at him and I'm like, this is very awkward, Like
why would you want to hit her up?

Speaker 3 (20:50):
What did they say when you asked that very fair question.

Speaker 5 (20:53):
He was just like, I.

Speaker 10 (20:54):
Just want to see how she's doing, and she was like, yeah,
we're just friends, and I'm like, well, we're just friends,
but were actually on our first date. He looked at him,
and he looked at me, and it was gotten very awkward,
and he just ended it with I'll call you once
I leave here. So then him and I started like
kind of like arguing or bickering back and forth, and

(21:15):
we end up leaving. And then a couple days later
he had hit me up wanting to go on a
second date. But then in that meantime, I found out
that they got back together, so he was kind of
actually trying to date both of us.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
Ooo. Yeah, that was so the player from Panera decided
he was going to try to shoot his shot, not once,
but twice exactly.
