ninety seven point one WASHFM. It's a day for us

(05:58):
to pause and help give back to this mother Earth.
It has given us so much. That's very dramatic, I know,
but it's true. The Earth has given us much and
it's on all of us to conserve. Ninety seven point

Talk back also open this morning. If you want to

(06:19):
tell us ways that you can serve energy around the house.
What do you do, Chili?

Speaker 3 (06:23):
Well, I mean the only way I think I give
back to the planet is not only recycling, but using
those recycled bags when I go shopping, Like, I don't
use the store bags anymore.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
I buy stuff that you can compost. Oh that's good, yes,
like the bamboo like bowls. It's a little thing that
can make a big difference. We've all got something little
we can do to conserve Stacy, Good morning in Fairfax.
What do you do to conserve energy?

Speaker 4 (06:49):
I started using a smart sermostat to adjust the temperature automatically,
and you made a big difference.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
I also see a window draft in the winter to.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Keep the heat in without training up the heater.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
That is really smart because we definitely have leaky windows
in our house. You have the nest thermostatute right, yeah, yeah,
but if it's leaking, what's the point.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
That's a good point. I have it too. I need
to adjust it actually for these warmer temperatures we've been having. Ronald,
good morning, Rockville. What's up.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
We generally don't use light that often than our house.

Speaker 5 (07:22):
We tend to just less the natural sunlight in the
house whenever we can.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
At night, we might.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
Have one light on or just the TV. We're not
that big on having a bunch of.

Speaker 5 (07:32):
Light on all the time.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
It's really challenging when you've got little kids because they
just don't even think about it.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
Just little kids. It's really challenging when you're an adult
because you just don't think about it.

led to a coma and heart failure. His funeral is
going to be this Saturday, four a m. Eastern Time

(08:38):
The President says there are no plans to replace Defense
Secretary Pete haig Seth, despite a report that had said
that the White House was in the process of looking
for a new leader at the Pentagon. Hag Seth has
come under fire after reports that he shared detailed military
plans into different chats in the Signal app The Loud
County Sheriff's office is pushing back on demands from Perceville leaders,

(09:01):
who may vote to dissolve the town's police department today.
So Percevale now expects twenty four to seven coverage from
at least eight deputies and a local substation, but the
Loud and Share of says he has not been consulted
or agreed to any of it. Republican candidate Pat Harety
dropping out of the Virginia Lieutenant governor's race citing health

(09:22):
issues after recent heart surgery. He says complications have left
and without the energy for a campaign. So now that
leaves John Reid as the sole GOP candidate. And when
asked how they're currently feeling about their financial situation, twenty
eight percent of Americans say they feel somewhat good and
thirteen percent feel very good. According to the survey, fifty

(09:42):
one percent say they're now taking steps to boost their
financial knowledge as a result of economic uncertainty. Forecast today,
nice date, partly cloudy and breezy. Hi's getting up near
eighty right now, fifty nine in Gaithersburg.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
You know, one of the things that I'm very lucky
in life about is that I I have a significant
other who wants to be there when I go through
certain medical things, certain doctor appointments, just to take notes.
So she's in the loop on things, you know. She
kind of makes sure that I'm taken care of and
that I'm taking care of myself. But something hit me

(10:16):
the other day when I was at Midstar Georgetown. I
suspect she has an ulterior motive. Oh my, yep. I'll
go into why. Coming up in minutes is Toby and
Chilly in the morning continues hang out Toby and Chilly
in the morning. It is six twenty three on this
Tuesday morning, and I'm suspect Chilli. I'm suspecting my significant other.

(10:37):
Do you know why? Because you know, Friday, I had
to go to a Metstar Georgetown meet with a specialist. Well,
of course, the specialists bio is on the Internet of things,
and let's just say she's she's relatively cute. She she
is from Texas, which is where you're from. She checks

(10:57):
all these boxes, you know, And I think that my
significant other who went with me to the appointment to
take notes, because I would forget right, I think she
was going there to kick the tires as it were
to see what was going on, to see what was
up with this.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
To see if you'd be flirty, to see if you'd
be flirty with the doctor. Right, Okay, so a couple
of things here. Does it bother you if that is
why she wanted to I think.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
So a little bit. And I think that's why I'm
bringing it up, because you know, she's a doctor. I'm
not a doctor.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
Wait, that's your first reason. Oh, I'm not going to
flirt with her because she's my doctor. Not I'm not
going to flirt with her because I'm in love with
the woman i'm with. Why would I even look at
another woman? That wasn't the first thing that came out
of your mouth.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
I feel like I'm digging a hole now, Yeah, a.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
Little bit, a little bit. Look, look, she knows you
you have a past. Your current girlfriend knows you have
a past. Even though you've never given her reason to
think that you would ever do anything inappropriate. You have,
and so there's a bit of insecurity there, and unfortunately
for you, that consequences now that perhaps you need to
over reassure her, and if that means having her come

(12:09):
along to doctor's appointment where there's a cute doctor to
take notes and whatever she's doing. Nuh, that's what you
gotta deal with.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
I mean, ah, is this a chronic condition there, counselor
or will I ever get through this?

Speaker 3 (12:25):
Well, that's between you and your girlfriend.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Oh but yeah, this means I'm going to be stuck
in this dub house for quite some time.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
Toby and Chilly's nearly impossible question.

Speaker 2 (12:37):
I thought you know where to find us right now, though,
here's the question.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
Okay, so these are here? I me to scrolled up. Okay,
NASA owns over one hundred and sixty thousand of these. Wow,
I think you can get it if you think about
it for a second. NASA owns over one hundred and
sixty thousand of these what are they?

Speaker 2 (12:55):
That is a lot. If you want to see Kids Bop,
We've got your tickets thanks to Live Nation to go
to Baltimore and see Kids Bop. They're coming to the area.
Here's the question again one more time.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
NASA owns over one hundred and sixty thousand of these
what are they?

Speaker 2 (13:10):
Eight sixty six ninety two, seven forty three sixty one
is the number Kids Bop tickets up for grabs. If
you know the answer to that question. Call now get
it right when we'll all learn something. Your nearly Impossible

Toby and Chilly's Nearly Impossible Question thanks to Live Nation
Peer six Pavilion Kids Bob coming to town.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
We got tickets. Here's the question.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
NASA owns over one hundred and sixty thousand of these?

Speaker 2 (13:41):
What are they all?

Speaker 6 (13:42):
Right?

Speaker 2 (13:42):
By the way, if you work over at NASA Goddard,
you can't answer the question because you have an unfair advantage.
Just kidding, you can if you wanted to right now,
though in Fairfax, Pauline, good morning, Welcome to the show.
How are you?

Speaker 1 (13:56):
I'm good?

Speaker 2 (13:56):
How are you really good? Thank you and welcome. You've
got the quest question. What is your guest for the
kids Bob tickets?

Speaker 4 (14:02):
It's rockets?

Speaker 2 (14:04):
Rockets. Why do you think that NASA owns over one
hundred and sixty thousand of these?

Speaker 3 (14:08):
Oh? I guess something that happen to do with faith.
That's true.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
They're the rocket people.

Speaker 3 (14:14):
If anyone's going to have them rockets, it's NASA and
they could be all sizes. It doesn't have to be
ginormous rockets.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
Right, it could be a model rocket, you know what
I mean, Like what Chili's sun Donado goes and shoots off. Okay,
you know with the sky and whatnot.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
I don't know about all that, but rockets is an
excellent guest, Pauline. It's also the correct answer this morning.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
Congratulations, thanks so much. This means you're going to go
to see Kids Bop Pier six Pavilion. Thank you, Live Nation,
drive safely as you go, and thank you for playing.
And congrats on the wind today.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
It is ninety seven point one Wash FM, Toby and

Pope Francis's funeral is going to be held this Saturday
at Saint Peter's Basilica. Cardinals at the Vatican met today
to plan for the funeral and also for the conclave,
which is the manner in which a new pope is chosen.
Pope Francis died yesterday after a stroke at the age
of eighty eight. Federal officials aren't investigating after Homeland Security
Secretary Christine Oham's purse was stolen while she was dining

(15:24):
with her family at the Capitol Burger Restaurant in DC.
A man with an N ninety five mask allegedly slid
it away with his foot and then left her. Purse
reportedly held several thousand dollars in cash, her DHSID, credit cards,
passport and license. DC is teaming up with Metro for
a new development near the Deanwood Station. A parking lot

(15:48):
is going to be transformed into one hundred and sixty
nine apartments, retail space, a teen tech center, and also
a library. It's aimed at boosting affordable housing and the
city's base. Google is now warning it's Gmail users about
a very sophisticated phishing attack targeting personal information. So the

(16:08):
scam emails and tries to trick users into giving up
log in details through fake Google pages. So Google is
now recommending using two factor authentication and also pass keys
for added security. And According to recent study, fifty two
percent of parents admit to spending money on treats and
perks for their kids because they feel guilty. The research

(16:31):
also finds that thirty nine percent of parents say paying
for their kids' education is a top priority, while fifty
nine percent report that saving for retirement is a top
financial goal. Forecast today, it's going to be nice, pretty mild,
partly cloudy, breezy, eighty the high right now fifty nine
in Fairfax.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
Question Chilli, terriffts and taxes. They're the same words, right, yes,
one tariff, the tariff and attacks they equal the same thing,
all right. I just wanted to be clear on that.
The numbers eight sixty six, ninety two, seven forty three,
sixty one. Now why am I asking here at ninety
seven point one WASHFM, Because next with Toby and Chilly
in the Morning, we're going to talk about what you're

(17:10):
buying before these tariffs kick in. The truth is we
all know people who have accelerated their purchases because they
don't want to pay like one hundred and fifty percent
more for something. It's the truth and we'll get into it.
And what you're buying before these tariffs kick in? Coming
up is Toby and Chilly in the Morning continues, don't
go anywhere. I know this is a tough subject to

(17:33):
bring up, but we haven't really talked about these tariffs.
Ninety seven point one, WASHFM, Toby and Chilly in the Morning.
And the fact, specifically that these tariffs could make the
prices of everything go up.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
Well, funny you bring that up, because it was just
last week that Timu and Shean we're saying that this week,
when you order off those websites which sell clothing and
other goods for dirt cheap, it's going to get more expensive.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
Eight sixty six nine two seven three sixty one is
the number. Can also tap the talkback microphone. You're already
listening to us on your iHeart app. We love you
for that and thank you for making us preset number one.
But you know, it really could be anything from like
the Dollar Store too, or anything online that was made
in China. I don't know about you, but there's only

(18:19):
so much my wallet can take.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
My girlfriend in a group text, she shops from those websites,
and she said she's buying all her summer wardrobe right
now before the prices go up. Like, I mean, it's
already cheap. How much more is I gonna go up?

Speaker 2 (18:34):
Come on now, Lacy, good morning, thanks for listening in
Oxen Hill. What are you gonna buy before these tariffs
and these prices go up.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
Honestly, I have a two thousand and eight car, and
now I'm scared because I've already.

Speaker 4 (18:47):
Looked and I feel like prices are already going up
on a few brands.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
And it's it's not.

Speaker 3 (18:51):
Like what about pre owned vehicles? Are they gonna be impacted?

Speaker 2 (18:54):
That's good question. If you sell pre owned cars or trucks,
feel free to call us at eight sixty six two
seven forty three sixty one. Because these tariffs are ridiculous.
And I've been thinking about maybe I need a new car,
but I gotta be honest, I've been like pushing it
off because of the thread of these tariffs. I just
don't want to pay extra, let alone one hundred and

(19:15):
twenty five percent extra. And that's assuming that it stays
the way it is, tariffs. What are you gonna buy
before these prices go up? Eight sixty six nine two
seven forty three sixty one call us now jump into
the conversation. We'll get back into it coming up. But first,
another one of your crazy first date stories. Gina from Odenton.
Her first date seemed to be going swimmingly well until.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
He ended up wearing her clothes home.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
Why you don't want to miss this.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
It is next It's Toby and Chilly crazy first.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
Date in odinon Gina. Good morning, tell us about this
crazy first date. We're listening.

Speaker 5 (19:53):
We met by a fender bender and we've changed information
and he asked me, you know, to go out for
dinner and drink, so we did. We had copious amounts
of drinks and ended up walking down to the beach
and we went skinny dipping. Yep, so we you know,
are in the water. We get out of the water
and his clothes are gone.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
He has no clothes.

Speaker 5 (20:16):
My clothes are still there. Nobody touched my clothes, but
his clothes are gone. So he ended up having to
wear my snake leggings out of like off the beach.
Everything was. He didn't have keys, wallet, phone, nothing, so
I wore my long shirt, he wore my leggings. It
was I mean, that was like the wildest thing. Nobody
could ever believe that that even happened.

Speaker 6 (20:38):
It was wild.

Speaker 5 (20:39):
It didn't ruin anything. We laughed so hard, we had
so much fun. And you know, that was eighteen years ago,
because we've been married for eighteen years now.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
All because of a fender bender that led to bending
more fenders after skinny dipping as a way to make
up for the fender bender which actually happened to the car. Unbelievable.
That is just insane.

Speaker 1 (20:59):
I know, did you guys.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
Ever find out if somebody was pranking him on that
date and took his clothes or was it You don't
know what happened to all this stuff?

Speaker 5 (21:07):
No, so we've heard voices on the beach and stuff,
and later he had said probably like homeless people on
the beach, so clearly some man needed clothes or I
don't know.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
Well, here's what we do know. We know that your
story was crazy, and that means you're gonna.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
Go to Billy, Joel and Sting at National's Park September fifth,
thanks to our friends at Live Nation. Yay, thank you guys.
That's so awesome. Make sure that you don't end this
evening out with another skinny dipping somewhere.
