Toby and Chili Mornings on demand on ninety seven point
one wash them.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
How can you not feel good this morning? It's Toby
and Chilly in the Morning, ninety seven point one WASHFM.
After the news yesterday that the Commanders might be moving
back to DC depending on the funding, I mean that
to me is exciting.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Brand new stadium.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
I know it's going to take a minute to build,
but you know what, that's progress and I'm kind of
excited about it for the district, for Commanders fans, but
I'm really excited to see this new domed stadium go
in into the Anacostia or not the Anacostia waterfront, but
down there by where the RFK Stadium is. Should be fun.

Speaker 4 (00:41):
Yeah, I mean, we still have a long ways to go.
The Council still has to potentially approve it. That might
be an uphill battle, but I guess we'll find.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Out right and I'm sure you'll have all the details
in the news coming up here in just a little bit.
Toby and Chilly in the Morning, It's ninety seven point
one WASHFM.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
Why are you feeling good this early morning before?

Speaker 4 (01:00):
It's just perfect weather to eat dinner outside. I've got
a deck or a patio. It is so nice to
end the day outdoors.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
When do you start the grill?

Speaker 4 (01:13):
Well, I usually start making dinner at five, and we're
typically seated by like five thirty five forty five the latest.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
I mean, like, when do you start eating outside?

Speaker 4 (01:23):
Like, oh, you mean, like what time of year?

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Yeah, oh we.

Speaker 4 (01:26):
Started eating No no, no, we started eating outside last week.
But not every night.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Oh no, not every night, no no no. But it's
like definitely grilling. It's grilling.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
Clear, we eat outside. Even when we're not grilling, it's
just taking the food out to the deck. Like why
do we have to grill, regardless of what I made
for dinner.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
Well, there's that.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
It's like we don't have to grill to eat outside.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Oh no.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
But to me, like there's just a certain ride of
passage that comes when the grill can be fired up.
I smelled somebody cooking barbecue, I guess the other day
over the weekend, and I was like, oh, it's that time.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
Yeah, it was nice.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
You know what.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
The weather has been pretty amazing. Yep, enjoy it if
you can. And by the way, why are you feeling
good this morning? Eight six, six ninety seven forty three
sixty one is the number. Talkback is wide open too
if you want to use it.

Top Stories Top of the Hour.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
Top Stories presented by Celsius Energy Drinks. President Trump's immigration
crackdown is being highlighted as he approaches one hundred days
in office. Yard signs displaying the mugshots of illegal immigrants
who have been arrested during his first hundred days were
placed on the White House lawn yesterday morning. The Washington

(02:56):
commander is officially coming back to DC, well at least
step closer. Mayor Muriel Bowser and the team announced a
nearly four billion dollars deal to build a new sixty

and thousands of new housing units, but it still needs

(03:19):
approval from the DC Council. A New York Times report
sheds light on what may have happened before January's mid
air crash over the Potomac. It says that the black
Hawk pilot may have missed a key warning from her
copilot because of heavy radio traffic, and their crew was
also practicing a high security mission and had turned off

(03:39):
their radar visibility. Virginia Congressman Jerry Connolly announced yesterday he
is not going to run for reelection next year due
to the return of cancer. He is also stepping back
from his duties as a ranking member of the House
Oversight Committee, and traveling can come with a variety of
mental and physical health benefits. Research reveals that a week

a group of things that can contribute to heart disease, stroke,
and diabetes by twenty five percent. Partly cloudy skies today

Chilly in the morning.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
This is where we pause, find a quote, share it
with you to get you into a good headspace as
you take on the day.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Right on and maybe we could turn your day around.
If you've been having an interesting morning, Winston Churchill, They've
got a statue from downtown at the British Embassy. Success
is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm,
William Churchill. Success is walking from failure to failure with
no loss of enthusiasm. You know why that's important today.

(05:14):
It's important because optimism is your secret weapon. Embrace that
secret weapon, use it to find success in the ashes
of failure. Winston Churchill, thank you for inspiring us this morning.
If that helped you well, If you maybe maybe you
need to read it again, maybe you want to share
it with somebody who might need it. Find us on

(05:35):
the Toby and chillipage at WASHFM dot com. Feel free
to reach out to either one of us and we'll
be happy to send you this morning's Morning mindset.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
Because you're worth it.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
It's ninety seven point one wash FM, Toby and Chilly
in the Morning coming up in just a few minutes.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
Oh those critters, Chilly, Yeah, we were talking about this
yesterday morning. How springtime brings along some.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
Varmits, interesting varmits.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Yea, I had some thoughts you wanted to add to
the conversation. Eight sixty six nine two seven forty three
sixty one. Phone lines are now open. Feel free to
call and tell us about the critters you've encountered this spring.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
We'll talk about it coming up.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Eight six six nine two seven forty three sixty one
is the number. Talkback also works if you're signed in
listening to your iHeart app this early morning. Ninety seven
point one wash FM, Toby and Chilly in the Morning. Chilli,
did you ever call the organ man figure out what
that pest hole is?

Speaker 5 (06:31):
That?

Speaker 3 (06:31):
The critter that's burrowing near your foundation.

Speaker 4 (06:34):
We're talking about it yesterday. The chipmunks that I think
are visiting us a little too close to home. Yeah,
you know, right now, it doesn't seem to be a
big issue, but it could be.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
I hope they're chipmunks and not rats. No, they're not,
because if they're rats, that's nasty. Even mice. No, but
you might be dealing with some spring critters. It seems
this time of year they all come out of their hibernation.
Jannis and Rockville, what are you dealing with?

Speaker 1 (06:58):
I'm coyotes.

Speaker 4 (07:00):
Oh no, thank you. There's a coyote that is in
my backyard every morning, and I have to keep my dog.
It's a little turkey. I have keep my dog inside
because I'm too afraid that the coyote is just going
to snatch them.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
Jannis, thanks for chiming in.

Speaker 4 (07:14):
That's a real threat. That's not just a West Coast
thing anymore. That stuff is happening more and more around here.
Oh no.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
I go to the park across the street, the Millennium
Trail park, right, and they have on the Millennium Trail
sign to say this is a coyote habitat.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
Watch your dog. Oh no.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Tiffany and Lorton talking about spring critters, what are you
dealing with?

Speaker 1 (07:35):
I have birds everywhere.

Speaker 6 (07:36):
They are aggressively nesting all over my house, right at
my front door, at the kitchen, and like they're cute
but starting to get way too much, and they don't
shut up the whole day.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
That means there's a nest nearby that you need to
look for.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
Otherwise you're going to be dealing with bombs away for
the rest of the season, you know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (07:58):
Oh, yes, that is so true. And that'll hurt your
paint on the car too.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
That's right, Toby and Chilly in the morning, not to
mention what it'll do to your hair. In ninety seven
point one wash FM and eight sixty six ninety seven
forty three sixty one Spring Critters, you're dealing with any varmits,
tell us all about them. Tap the talk back microphone

Top Stories Top of the Hour.

Speaker 4 (08:32):
President Trump signed several executive orders on immigration. One target
so called sanctuary jurisdictions, requiring a list of places that
do not cooperate with federal immigration laws, while another order
mandates that truck drivers speak English. The Washington Commanders are
one step closer to returning to the district. The team

(08:54):
announced plans for a new stadium that would be built
at the old RFK site. Renderings of the stadium showed
a glass dome roof with a view of the Capitol. Meanwhile,
several members of the DC Council say they will oppose
using taxpayer dollars for the project. Longtime Virginia Congressman Jerry

(09:14):
Connolly announced yesterday that he is not going to run
for reelection after learning that his esophageal cancer has returned.
Connolly also plans to step down soon from his role
as the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee. DC
Water kicked off a major project to keep sewage out

(09:35):
of the Potomac River. Local leaders gathered at West Potomac
Park to mark the start of construction on the Potomac
River Tunnel. It's a five mile long system that is
expected to produce sewage overflow by ninety three percent each year,
and the project should be completed by twenty thirty. And
according to a recent study, nearly nine and ten Americans

(09:56):
have actually changed the way they grocery shopped as a
result of inflation. It finds that forty four percent are
now buying generic or store brands to help save more,
and thirty eight percent are avoiding impulse purchases that we're
not on their shopping list. Forecast Today Party, Cloudy's, Guy's

(10:16):
eighty five the High Right now, it's fifty three in Laurel.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
Once again, I feel like Johnny come lately to this conversation.
But this is the best dating show on TV. And Chili,
I know you've been a fan for a while, but
over the weekend, I watched a show that has got me, well,
let's just say that I've become quasi obsessed with it.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
Find out what the.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
Show is and why it is so why it has
become such an obsession. Next with Toby and Chilly in
the Morning, Tilby and Chilly in the Morning. It's ninety
seven point one wash FM six twenty one on this Tuesday,
April twenty ninth, Chili.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
I've got to tell you.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
I know you've watched this show before, and I just
watched it for the first time over the weekend. Love
on the Spectrum is probably the best show on television.

Speaker 4 (11:05):
It is the greatest dating show ever. And for those
who don't know it's it's a docuseries that follows individuals
on the autism spectrum as they navigate dating and relationships
just like neurotypical people would.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
Right, And it is just so refreshingly honest. Yes, like
you know, to me, if every relationship had that kind
of lack of a filter, we wouldn't have any problems
in life.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
Yeah, And they don't play games. They're just pure hearted,
you know. So I have a son on the spectrum,
but he's very high functioning, you know. But I was
nervous about watching this when it first came out, like
in twenty twenty two, right, because I was worried they
were going to exploit these people. And I was just like,
you know, I don't want this to be uncomfortable and

(11:54):
make but it's not that at all. It is so
well done and respectful and it feels like a warm
embrace every time I watch it, Like I can't stop
smiling as I watch the show.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
Like is it Connor the one that had his first
kiss and he's the one who speaks like almost yes
with a poetic yeah nature's have you been on.

Speaker 4 (12:20):
So many recurring people from season to season who are
searching for love, some of which you know have found
somebody and just like anybody you know, they're kind of
trying to figure out what love is and what that's
going to look like for them, and it's it's like
a romance novel. It's so good.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
It really, it really is.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
I was like, I was what's his name who wrote
like the notebook, Nicholas Sparks. Yeah, I was like watching
it and I'm like going And normally I would not
watch something like this, but my significant other kind of
like you know, convinced me to watch it, which means
she made a choice for me to watch it. I
was like, Nicholas Sparks needs to take notes on all
of this, because everybody has something and it's a different

(13:04):
something that's going on and together it really teaches to me.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
It teaches you how to properly love, and also it.

Speaker 4 (13:12):
Highlights that, you know, when you're watching Love on the Spectrum,
it's basically highlighting this universal desire for connection and companionship.
Like everybody, all of us wants the same thing and
to find it is our goal.

Speaker 5 (13:27):
Right.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
Oh my, spite the challenges, despite whatever they overcome, they
talk about the family units around them to help them. Oh,
it's just if you haven't watched it, you need to
do yourself the service of watching it. Yes, I should
have done it two seasons ago. I didn't. But it's
okay to come late to the game. I've learned that
that is okay. I have been waiting for this all

(13:50):
my life.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
Tolby and Chilly's nearly impossible question.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
All right, what's the question today?

Speaker 4 (13:56):
The average one of these has about one hundred and
twenty people in it attendants. What is it?

Speaker 2 (14:01):
Eight sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one?
Is the number Jerry Seinfeld is coming. It's his birthday today.
By the way, He'll be at the haul at Live
in November. You could be there too. Here's the question again.

Speaker 4 (14:13):
The average one of these has about one hundred twenty
people in attendance.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
What is it eight six six nine two seven forty
three sixty one? If Jerry Seinfeld is someone you need
to see, you need to call now. Answer that question right,
and the tickets could be yours. You're nearly a possible
question for this Tuesday, and it's on ninety seven point
one watch UF. Then the answer is on the way.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
Kelby and Chilly's nearly impossible question.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
The question.

Speaker 4 (14:39):
The average one of these has about one hundred and
twenty people in attendance.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
What is it all right? Martinsburg, West Virginia, wild and wonderful, Michelle,
Good morning and welcome.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
How are you.

Speaker 5 (14:52):
I'm thank How are you well?

Speaker 2 (14:54):
I'm good. You're gonna be even better if you win
these tickets. Jerry Seinfeld, You've got the question, what's your
guests a wedding?

Speaker 3 (15:03):
A wedding?

Speaker 4 (15:04):
You said, have you been married? And if so, what
was your guest list number?

Speaker 1 (15:08):
I believe it was one hundred.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
And one hundred.

Speaker 4 (15:15):
That's a hundred. That's a pretty good sized wedding.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
How big was yours? Chilling?

Speaker 4 (15:20):
Yeah, one seventy five.

Speaker 3 (15:22):
One seventy five. Wow, that's a lot of people.

Speaker 4 (15:25):
Well, a lot of people weren't invited in the family
and they still don't forgive me to this day.

Speaker 3 (15:30):
Well, you know, you can't please everybody now.

Speaker 4 (15:34):
But we are going to try to please you right now. Michelle,
that is the correct answer.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
Yes, thank you so much, which means you've got tickets
to see Jerry Seinfeld the whole Maryland Live.

Speaker 5 (15:46):
Congratulations, Thanks so much, it's exciting.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Congratulations. Now, if you're listening and you want tickets to

WASHFM dot com. Check out the events page. In the meantime,
stay there for the news top stories at the top

Speaker 3 (16:02):
On the way next.

Speaker 1 (16:05):

sticker shock as the brand's US prices sore up to
three hundred seventy seven percent to offset hefty new tariffs.

(17:37):
So as a workaround, she and and Tamu are trying
to get their suppliers to shift production to Vietnam to
dodge some of the pain. Forecasts for today is going
to be a beautiful, warm day, partly cloudy with highs
in the mid eighties right now fifty five in Oakton eight.

Speaker 2 (17:56):
Six six nine two seven forty three sixty one and
that's the number here at ninety seven point one WASHFM,
where Toby and Chilly in the morning. Can also tap
the talk back microphone if you're signed in using your
iHeart app to speak out and send us a voice
note coming up in a few minutes. We want to
get your take on this. What is a trend that

(18:17):
you regret that you took part in it back in
the day, or maybe it was last week. What was
that trend you regret? It's okay, not gonna judge, just
want to hear from you, and we're sure that you've
got some good stories to share, so feel free to
jump in. We'll get to this next with Toby and
Chili in the Morning hang Out. Do you hear the

(18:37):
news the University of South Carolina. I guess some organizations
down there are bringing back the ice bucket challenge trend?
Remember that about ten years ago? Yes, it was a fundraiser, right.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
Last time it was for als and now it's for
mental health awareness.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
Well, it got us thinking about trends this morning here
at ninety seven point one wash FM Toby and Chilli
in the Morning, specifically trends that you might have taken
part in once upon a time that you'd rather forget.

Speaker 3 (19:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (19:07):
Well, and I don't mind the ice bucket challenge because
there's something positive attached to it, But there's a many
others out there that you may have fallen victim too,
like uh, teeth whitening. That was a really big deal
in the early two thousands, I think, yeah, and I
tried it and I regretted it immediately.

Speaker 3 (19:24):
Oh, it's a pain when you get your teeth whitened
and you have to talk for a living.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
Can you think of a trend that you're really sorry?

Speaker 2 (19:30):
Yeah, if I go back to, like, what is it,
high school? Maybe junior high probably my freshman year of
high school. Remember parachute pants, Oh, like the mc hammer ones. Yeah,
they were very, very big. They had many, many pockets,
but they were like made out of parachute material. Had
to have them, so I got lucky and got some,
and then I promptly ripped the crotch out of them,
and that was the end of the parachute pants trend

(19:52):
in my life eight six six, ninet two, seven forty
three sixty one. Is there a trend from the past
that you regret taking part in? Michael in Kensington? What
was it?

Speaker 7 (20:03):
I remember doing the cinnamon challenge and thoh Man, that
was a big mistake.

Speaker 4 (20:08):
That was where you try to eat a spoonful of cinnamon.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
You just can't do it. You end up choking and coughing.
It was just so not worth it.

Speaker 4 (20:15):
Yeah, it's not worth dying over a stupid trend like
the tide pods. Not that long ago.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
I remember when I did the drink some Clorox bleach trend.

Speaker 4 (20:25):
No you didn't.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
No, I'm not that dumb. I'm on no crazy. Thanks
for the call this morning. If you've got a trend
you regret taking part in, would love to hear from
you about it. Eight six six nine two seven forty
three sixty one talk back. Microphone wide open for you too.
If you're signed into your iHeart app, tap speak and send.
We won't judge, like I said, but we might laugh
along with you.

Speaker 3 (20:46):
Not at you, but with you.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
Your stories coming up as Toby and Chilly in the
Morning continues. But first, another one of your crazy first
date stories.

Speaker 4 (20:55):
Karen and Fredericksburg actually flew to a different state to
quant of very first date.

Speaker 3 (21:01):
So how did it all go? She'll tell us next time.

Speaker 1 (21:05):
Toby and Chilly Crazy.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
First Date in Fredericksburg. Karen, welcome.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
We understand you have a crazy first date to tell
Chilly and I about.

Speaker 5 (21:13):
I had a first date after I met a guy
at a wedding. So we were at a wedding and
we exchanged phone numbers. At the end of the wedding,
he called me and we started talking. He invited me
down to Virginia for our first date.

Speaker 4 (21:28):
I didn't live here.

Speaker 5 (21:29):
I lived in New England, and I said, oh, I
gotta fly down to Virginia for our first date. And
I said, well, you know what, I'm gonna.

Speaker 3 (21:36):
Throw caution to the wind. I'm gonna go down there.

Speaker 5 (21:38):
So I flew down to Virginia.

Speaker 4 (21:40):
For like four days, three nights.

Speaker 5 (21:42):
We had an amazing three days of first date, and
I decided to move to Virginia because of him. So
I upwarded my life, I mean not right away, and
we did date like ten months long distance, and then
I did move and it turned out to be great.
Relationship went along so good for only about four years.

(22:05):
The point is that after four years. During that time,
I met another man that I worked with and we
were just friends may ex and I ended up breaking up.
And at the end of it all, I ended up
with this other guy. So even though I didn't stay
with the original person, I came down here for I
stayed here in Virginia and that's where I met my

(22:27):
true love after.

Speaker 4 (22:28):
We broke up.

Speaker 2 (22:29):
So if you had it all to do over again,
would you do it the same way? Because some people
might look at you and think flying for a multi
day vacation is a bit cuckoo.

Speaker 1 (22:40):
I would do it.

Speaker 5 (22:41):
The same way I would. I mean that relationship was good.
Like I said, we ended on a good note. It
worked out for the.

Speaker 4 (22:49):
Best and we're so glad that it did. And because
you shared that crazy story with us, we'd love to
send you to go see Cindy Laupper at Jiffy Lube
Live July twenty fourth, thanks to our friends at Live Nation.

Speaker 5 (23:01):
Congratulations Karen, Yes, thank you, this is so awesome.

Speaker 2 (23:05):

regret taking part in?

Do you guys remember when everyone would wear fake glasses

Speaker 7 (26:39):
Yes, I unfortunately participated in that, and now I actually
have to wear glasses all the time. So I kind
of regret wearing the lensless ones back in like two

wear them every freaking day.

Speaker 3 (26:53):
So you jinxed yourself.

Speaker 4 (26:54):
That's right. Before that, though, there was the colored contact
lens trend.

Speaker 3 (27:00):
Don't tell me you tried that trend too, No.

Speaker 4 (27:03):
I was really tempted, though I wanted blue eyes.

Speaker 2 (27:06):
Cassie, Good morning in Silver Spring. What trend do you regret.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
You know, somewhere out there there's video footage of me
doing the Mockerena and that just needs to be deleted.
Its entirety should never see the sun.

Speaker 4 (27:18):
Come on now, everybody likes to sway their hips at
