it's Toby and Chile in the morning at ninety seven

(00:28):
us a note Chili, why are you feeling good on
this Monday?

Speaker 3 (00:30):
As we get a new week started.

Speaker 4 (00:32):
Remember on Friday, I was telling you I was going
to get the second of my six shingles. Yes, right,
it's a two part thing. When you turn fifty, it's
recommended you get these vaccines. And I was dreading it
because some people are knocked on their butts after getting
these vaxes.

Speaker 5 (00:49):
But I was fine.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
I was okay, managed just with some advil the first
day and yeah, so I was able to enjoy the
rest of my weekends and I am very grateful for that.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
And now I've got to call my doctor and say,
Chillie got her shingles shots and she's over fifties, so
maybe I need to get some too, do I.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
I procrastinated, but I finally got it out of the way.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Isn't shingles kind of like chicken pox.

Speaker 4 (01:16):
The adult version? They say, I don't want that at all. No,
it could be really bad if you get it at
our age. We don't want the shingles. No, it's usually
brought on not usually, but a lot of times brought
on by stress.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
And well, well we have a little bit of that.
We have a little bit of that, but it starts
right when we get out of bed in the morning.

Speaker 5 (01:34):
But no, that's why I'm feeling good. Why are you
feeling that?

Speaker 3 (01:36):
I'm feeling good this morning?

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Because Kyla had a friend over who I guess so
came to see her family. They met in Boston, and
she came over and hung out with Kyla for a
little while, spent the night Saturday night, and it was
just good to see Kyla, you know, interacting with friends
and just.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Being you know, being just being her.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
You know.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
It gave me kind of an insight into what things
must be to have been like when she was going
to college. Now of course she's a graduate. Her friend's
working on her masters up there at one of those
Boston colleges that's up there in the city. There's a
million colleges in Boston.

Speaker 5 (02:11):
To see your daughter in her social.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Well, yes, yeah, and it was kind of a cool thing,
you know, and made me realize I'm not being social
enough these days anymore. But with the schedule it can
be tough to do that, you know, really can't. But
there's always something to feel good about. What is it
for you? You know where to find us, reach out,
let us know so we can celebrate why you're feeling
good this morning. Now, we've got the news top stories

(02:35):

Words that we hope might inspire you today to take
on a new day and a new week.

Speaker 4 (05:15):
And those words come in the form of a quote
that we have found on the internet.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Jess Banksy, who's the great graffiti artist. He's also a
little political, but he also has some amazing things to
say to you and I, and he says that art
should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
Take that in for a second.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable. Now
what is Banksy trying to say? Creativity is meant to challenge.
So go ahead and embrace your creativity today. And if
people are disturbed by it, well that's the purpose of
your creativity.

Challenge people. That's your morning mindset for this Monday.

was shown at the Sphere in Vegas?

Speaker 4 (06:15):
Interesting that you would ask that, because the Wizard of
Oz is going to be shown there this August and
people cannot wait to see it. But yeah, what other
movies would be perfect?

Speaker 3 (06:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (06:25):
If you don't know what the Sphere is, go to
our page, the Tobya Chili page at waschefim dot com.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
You'll see how amazing it is.

(06:55):
because we want to ask you a little bit about
the sphere in Vegas based on some that's been floating
around the internet.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
The Wizard of Oz is going to be shown there
starting in August, and it's going to be an incredible
sort of immersive, as you say, experience, and it God
is thinking, like, what other movies do you think would
make that venue great?

Speaker 2 (07:15):
Well, what movie do you think Chili would make that
venue great? Would be a very immersive experience, one that
would cause you to feel almost like you came out
of your body.

Speaker 5 (07:24):
I would go with the Matrix.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
Oh, there's a lot of cool.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
Moments in that that would be incredible when you're surrounded
by those scenes.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
That filmmaking is no joke. What about you, Top Gun Maverick. Yeah,
because I know how they filmed it, and I know
that they filmed it for gigantic screens like Imax. Can
you imagine that flying that fast in those planes, Top
Gun Maverick. Please now, Leaf and Alexandria wants to join
the conversation Leaf. When it comes to movies that this sphere,

(07:54):
what do you want to see and why?

Speaker 3 (07:56):
I would like to see a movie like water World
or Castaway.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
I feel like the vastness of the ocean would be
amazing to see on that.

Speaker 5 (08:03):
Big of a screen.

Speaker 4 (08:04):
Actually, water World may have done better at a venue
like the Sphere because it bombed at the regular box office.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Bombs away, Noel in the Mosaic District of Virginia. What
movie would you like to see at the Sphere in Vegas? Oh?

Speaker 3 (08:18):
Avatar, hands down.

Speaker 5 (08:20):
Imagine those glowing forest and floating mountains and.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
All those underwater scenes wrapping around you in that three
hundred and sixty degree view.

Speaker 5 (08:26):
People would be ducking for vanties like Get the Right
at Disney.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
Good suggestion, Noel, And I think pretty much any James
Cameron movie would do well in there.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
For instance, Titanic.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Yeah, thanks for the call and if you've got a
movie that you would love to see at the sphere
in Vegas, tell us all about it and why at
eight sixty six, ninet two, seven forty three sixty one,

Police located the shooter's cell phone signal, which then led
them to a deceased man with a gun nearby. The
Senate is kicking off it's so called vote rama today
on President Trump's sweeping tax and spending bill. Senate clerks

(09:26):
finished reading the nine hundred and forty page legislation yesterday
after bill narrowly advanced on Saturday night, setting the stage
for hours of debate. DC police are pushing back on
social media claims about a spike in missing women cases,
saying there is no evidence to support those reports. The

At a recent survey in every state, they looked into

(10:29):
what unconventional traits men and women are attracted to. So
good posture was the top subtle turn on for folks
in Maryland, and for Virginians it is a person's subtle scent.
Now the most common turnoff nationally is a blank, emotionless stare.
Forecasts forward today partly sunny skies, There's a chance of

(10:52):
some storms this afternoon. Highs around ninety right now seventy
five in Woodbridge.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
Toby and chilly in the morning.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Now that you've got the news top stars at the
top of the hour. It is six oh eight DC, Chili.
I think I need to talk to like a sleep specialist,
not have a sleep study done. I think probably an
actual sleep specialist. Here's why I feel like this fatigue
sometimes has reached a new level of crazy. Oh yeah,

(11:20):
I'll tell you why I'm feeling this way. And I
want to get your take on this, Chili, because like
I think that you probably have some idea of what
I should do. And if you've got some thoughts and
you are into sleep, eight sixty six nine two seven
forty three sixty one is the number, and talk back
is wide open too. If you're signed into your iHeart app,
feel free to tap that microphone and tell us what

(11:43):
you think.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
We'll get to this coming up. Six twenty three taken
in Chili in the Morning. It is ninety seven point
one WASH FM, Chili.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
I've got to get your take on this because I'm
trying to decide whether or not I need to go
to a sleep specialist. And by the way, you're listening
to us right now, we're Toby and Chilly in the
Morning in our eight sixty six nine two seven forty
three sixty one. If you've ever had any kind of
like sleep related issues, some people call it narcolepsy. You
can use the top back microphone if you want to. Well,

(12:12):
you know, like we used to joke sometimes about how
I'd be narc you know, what's it called narcoleptic, and
then I would fall asleep on the couch and I'd
fall asleep in the craziest places. But lately, Chilli, it's
reached a new level of crazy. So one day, I
guess a couple of weeks ago, I kind of dozed
off for thirty to forty five minutes in front of.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
The Panera by where I live. I remember that, yep.
And I was like, well, you know you were tired.
I was tired.

Speaker 5 (12:40):
At least you kept the car running.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
Yeah, well, you know.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
And then one day last week that happened in front
of the Safe Way by where I live.

Speaker 4 (12:47):
And I love how these are happening before you physically
go in to run the errand you're like shutting your
eyes for what you hope is five minutes and then
waking up like an hour later, and that's insane.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
Well, here's what happened last week, and my significant other
got involved in this too. Kyla wakes me up. Your
daughter in front? Yeah, my daughter, Kyla, who's home from
college graduate. Now she's, you know, looking for a gig.
She comes out, knocks on my window. She's like, Dad,
get up. You've been sleeping in the car. I fell
asleep in front of the garage where I normally park

(13:19):
the car, when I could have walked ten feet into
my place, another ten to fifteen feet into my room
and crawled into my bed, But for whatever reason.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
I did not.

Speaker 2 (13:28):
Now I was like looking at emails or whatever. If
it sounds like I'm making excuses, I might be.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
But do you think that this now is at the
point where I need to call somebody?

Speaker 4 (13:39):
I think after it happened the first time, I would
have called somebody. But the fact that you're in the driveway,
when you could easily, seemingly easily have walked in and
taken a nap in a bed, you fell asleep in
your vehicle. I'm really surprised that someone hasn't done some
sort of a wellness check on you by seeing you

(14:01):
in a vehicle with your eyes closed and not wondering
if you're dead or alive.

Speaker 2 (14:06):
Now you sound like my significant others. She's like, she's like,
you keep this up, somebody's gonna pull a welfare check
on you, and you know you'll end up back in
the hospital.

Speaker 3 (14:16):
And I'm like, I don't want to end up backing that.

Speaker 4 (14:18):
No. So it's I know you've had sleep apnea. I
don't know if you're getting treated for that. But there's
something very not okay. This is beyond our schedule of
waking up because you know, go into work.

Speaker 5 (14:31):
No, this is this is next level fatigue.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
I wonder if sleep apne is part of it, you
know what I mean, Like, maybe it's time for me
to have a new sleep study because it has been
about ten years. Oh god, yeah, yeah. So you know,
I don't know anybody have thoughts? You know where to
find us? Eight sixty six ninety seven forty sixty.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
Oh one. Sorry, I just dozed off.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
Okay, not really, Toby and Chilly's nearly impossible question.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
We've got Maroon five tickets up for grabs. You might
want them. Here is the question from one Chiliam R.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
Forty percent of us would rather do this without our
significant other?

Speaker 5 (15:10):
What is it?

Speaker 2 (15:12):
Eight sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one.
That is a very broad question this morning.

Speaker 4 (15:18):
Here it is again, forty percent of us would rather
do this without our significant other.

Speaker 5 (15:24):
I'll give you a hint. It's an errand.

Speaker 1 (15:48):
Toby and Chilli's nearly impossible question.

Speaker 4 (15:50):
Chiliam r the question one more time, please, forty percent
of us would rather do this without our significant other.

Speaker 5 (15:57):
The clue was it is an errand what is it?

Speaker 2 (16:00):
And Maroon five tickets are up for grabs. Good morning
in DC, Mabel, welcome, How are you today?

Speaker 1 (16:07):
Good morning?

Speaker 5 (16:08):
Doing fine? Thank you?

Speaker 2 (16:10):
All right, So you've got the question for these Maroon
five tickets. What is it you would rather do without
your significant other?

Speaker 1 (16:17):
Grocery shopping?

Speaker 3 (16:19):
Is that true for you?

Speaker 2 (16:20):
Do you tell your husband or your life partner or
whatever to stay at home and let me handle it. Yes,
I can do it quick here.

Speaker 5 (16:27):
Oh, yes, that is so true.

Speaker 4 (16:30):
Or they'll put stuff in the cart that you know
you don't want at the house because it's too tempting.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
Right, absolutely, yes, Or you don't need it. Why are
you spending that kind of money on stuff we don't need?

Speaker 3 (16:41):
Hear that too.

Speaker 4 (16:42):
That's an excellent guess, Mabel. It is also the correct answer.

Speaker 3 (16:46):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
Forty percent of people would rather do this without their
significant other.

Speaker 3 (16:51):
Go grocery shopping. You're going to Maroon five.

Speaker 1 (16:54):

Speaker 5 (16:55):
Thank you very much. Happy Monday.

Two firefighters are dead another injured after a reforded ambush in Idaho.
Firefighters were responding to a call yesterday of a small
brush fire that was starting to grow and when then
they got there, they were shot by an unknown person
in the woods, and a possible suspect has been found

crew members quickly joined the rescue and helping to make

Speaker 3 (19:16):
That is the news.

Speaker 2 (19:18):
Tell all your friends you get your news with Toby
and Chilly in the morning and top stories at the
top of the hour coming up in just a few minutes.
What is the easiest job You've ever got? Eight six, six, nine, two, seven,
forty three, sixteen one is the number. If you want
to chime in and Talkback's always open for you too.
If you're signed into your iheartup, you can tap speak

(19:39):
and send us a quick voice note. Somebody graduated from
a high school right and he was surprised while walking
across the stage to get his diploma. That's when he
was offered a job. We'll tell you the details and
more coming up in minutes. Is Toby and Chilly in
the morning, continue seven twenty four in.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
The morning at ninety.

Speaker 2 (19:59):
Seven point one one, then Toby and Chilly in the
morning at eight sixty six, nine two, seven forty three
sixty one. Talk back wide open for you too, if
you feel like you want to jump in and tell
us about the easiest job that you've ever got. This
comes from a story out of Newark High School. I
assume that's Newark in New Jersey where Miguel Rodriguez Bermudez

(20:20):
graduated and was surprised Chilli.

Speaker 4 (20:23):
While he was walking across the stage to get his diploma,
he was offered a contract to become a teacher in
his hometown. Like on site, Like that is, okay.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
Here's your diploma, and by the way, you want to
work for us, you're hired exactly.

Speaker 4 (20:38):
That sounds pretty darn easy. Maybe not real life for
most people, but can you think back in your life
when it was really simple to get a job you
applied for sure.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
I was working at Randalls, which is a grocery store
where I grew up in Texas. And then they built
the new Kroger and I went to the new Kroger
and I got hired literally on the spot. They were like,
all right, fill this out. When can you start today?
And I'm like, uh, you know, I probably need to
give two weeks notice over at Randall's own eye and
they're like, oh.

Speaker 3 (21:10):
Well you do it. It was simple, you know.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
Like a false sense of simplicity that doesn't always work out.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
No, it does not always happen. What about you?

Speaker 5 (21:20):
Very similar?

Speaker 4 (21:21):
It was a high school job, and I was hired
at a dry cleaner pretty much the day I went
in for the interview.

Speaker 3 (21:27):
Yepe, you want to come in here and dry clean clothes.

Speaker 4 (21:30):
No, it would be to bag the clothes. They had
professionals actually cleaning.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
Oh so you were that girl, seemed to.

Speaker 5 (21:39):
The receiver of the clothes.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
I was the bagger of groceries who took them out
to the car as a member of the front end
crew at the grocery store back in the day, and
you bagged the clothing. That's very very interesting that we
have that parallel. The easiest job you ever got, what
was it? We're talking about it this morning and you
can join the conversation because we would love to hear
what it was for you. At eight sixty six, ninety

(22:01):
seven forty three sixty one at eight sixty six wash FM,
the number one and talkback also is wide open for
you too, if you want to jump in and join
the conversation via a quick voice note. We're going to
get back to your thoughts on that in just a minute.
But next, the story that we think might just make
your Monday.

Speaker 4 (22:20):
A local woman was told she'd never be able to
walk again, but now she's competing with horses.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
And she said, we'll just see about that. To hear
this story, it'll make your Monday. At least that's what
we think. And it's on the way Joby and Jilly
in the morning on ninety seven point one wash FM.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
It's Monday.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
It's time for a story that we think might just
make your Monday. Front Royal, Virginia. It was a hot
summer afternoon. Carl Anderson stood underneath the tent, listening as
a contractor explained how to repair a weather worn roof.
Now moments later, Carl and a group of teens climbed ladders,
ready to get to work, not just on the roof,

(23:00):
but on something much bigger.

Speaker 4 (23:02):
Yeah, they're all part of the Catholic Diocese of Arlington's
Work Camp. It was a week long mission over seven
hundred teams from northern Virginia where they volunteer their time,
energy and hearts to help people who need it, because
for a lot of these families, those critical repairs like roofing, windows,
or even wheelchair ramps are way too expensive.

Speaker 2 (23:21):
This year, one of the homes belonging to Tony Hill
had been struggling with the leaking roof. When the team arrived,
they found years of damage and sections that had started
to collapse. But by the end of the week, thanks
to new shingles and long hours in the heat, Hill
had a brand new roof and peace of mind.

Speaker 4 (23:39):
Tony said he watched the team's work and he couldn't
believe their generosity. They actually slept on the classroom floors
in a middle school, they woke up early for daily mass,
and then they spent their days under the sun, pressing
on to help others and encourage others every day.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
And for Carl, it's more than just volunteering about showing
up changing lives. For people like Tony Hill, it's proof
that even in the toughest of moments, kindness and community
can quite literally raise the roof and can quite literally
give you a story, Give us solid story that'll make
your Monday, and hopefully it did for you. Toby in
Chilipage at waschefm dot com is where you need to

(24:19):

just make someone else's Monday, because we'd love to read it.

next Monday. We've got top stories at the top of

Speaker 3 (24:33):

Speaker 4 (24:50):
It was a story that went viral last week. The
high school graduate was offered a contract to become a
teacher in his hometown at the graduation ceremony. And you know,
that is a very heartwarming story. But we were wondering,
has anyone else had a really easy time getting any
kind of gig.

Speaker 2 (25:07):
Sounds like maybe Alice who lives in the wharf did
What was the job?
