quote to get you in the right mindset as you

hear that.

Speaker 5 (04:00):
Next Amy Grant, Good morning.

starts at five o'clock today, and we thought we would
share a quote by.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
Aha Okay from this song Take on me. You remember
that I know that song.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Well, I'll be stumbling away slowly learning that life is okay.
In case you didn't know, that's what he says now.
The quote reflects the idea that growth often comes through
mistakes and uncertainty.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
Right.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
It suggests that even when life feels really messy or confusing,
we can gradually come to accept that things will be okay.
It's a reminder that progress does not have to be perfect.
So Aha says, I'll be stumbling away slowly learning that
life is okay. You could find that quote or share
your own using hashtag Morning Mindset on socials and find

(04:55):
us on the Toby and Chili page at washfm dot com.

food is a thing. Do you have a go to
that you like to order or again, it's not even
up for debate. Chili, what is it? It's corn dogs? Oh,
that's pretty basically yeah, But.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Like a fair corn dog. There's nothing better than a fresh,
deep fried fair corn dog.

Speaker 5 (06:02):
What about you?

Speaker 3 (06:03):
I would like to try whatever the deep fried trend
is of the year. There's always some unique food, so
I'll just give it a taste. But it's important that
I don't have anything deep fried until after the ride.

Speaker 2 (06:12):

of people make that decision. Yes, So we want to

it's very.

hundreds of dollars. So you buy it for twenty thirty
bucks and you sell it for nine hundred dollars.

Speaker 5 (10:45):
I see.

So there is a collection component to it. There is
a oh, it's like exciting, which one am I going
to get?

Speaker 4 (10:52):
You know what I'm saying? Like, it's just it's everybody's
just jumping on the la Buo boo trains.

All right, Toby is the day off. I'm kiddo'she from
Good Morning Washington. Coming up next. Some students at John
Hopkins are in our field Good Friday Spotlight after their
senior design project is helping workers at a Baltimore brewery.
We'll explain coming up next, Christina for your Friday Morning
ninety seven point one Wash FM with Toby and chilly
in the morning. I'm kiddo'she from Good Morning Washington. On Fridays,

(15:44):
we like to feel good and so we share a
great story that puts you in a nice mood. And
this is someone right out of Baltimore. Yeah, Johns Hopkins University.
There's a team of mechanical engineering seniors and they spent
their final semester and created something that really can impact
the world. It's a braille printer designed to help blind
and visually impaired individuals label items with ease. Working with

(16:07):
Blind Industries and Services of Maryland, the students developed a
machine that prints brail on plastic beer labels and other
materials like cardstock and glossy mailers, which traditional brail printers
cannot handle. And this whole thing was sparked by a
request for a more efficient and automated way to add
brail to.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
Like cylindrical packaging, especially as they're getting ready for a
special event where it features braille labeled beer cans. So
they not only built the hardware, but they also wrote
the software to make the system accessible for operators with
very low vision, eliminating the need for sited assistance. And
their work has already made a huge impact. They produce

(16:45):
hundreds of braille labels for a local craft beer called
blind Spot, and it's all part of an annual fundraiser.
This new printer is going to be saving these workers
from manually pressing thousands of labels by hand in future events.
And it's just kind of proves that thoughtful engineering can
really change lives in very powerful ways.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
And I think what's remarkable about this story is the
group of girls that did this. This was their senior
design project, so they're just getting started. If they're already
doing this, their future is very brain Such a great story.
Thank you for sharing that with us. Chili coming up
next here with Toby and Chilly in the Morning, What
is the craziest over the top gift You've ever received?

(17:26):
We'll share a story with you about a big gift
someone got their grandchild and now it's causing family problems.

Speaker 5 (17:32):
That story is next.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
Toby and Chilly in the Morning, ninety seven point one
Wash FM, Friday Morning in DC, and kiddoshe from Good
Morning Washington. We're talking about the craziest gift You've ever gotten?
After this story was in the news.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
Texas Grandma is at the center of a family dispute,
she decided to buy her sixteen year old granddaughter a
brand new car for her birthday. The teen, who lives
with grandma had just gotten her license and was so
excited by the teen's parents not happy they're selling grandma,
sell the car and use the money for other needs.

(18:07):
This is too much. So it's a big gift. It
is a very big gift. And if that teenager has siblings,
are they all going to expect to get new cars
when they turned sixteen?

Speaker 4 (18:17):
Well, I don't know, Like, how have you ever received
any over the top gifts.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
Or given any I am the youngest of three, and
I will tell you something similar happened in our family
where my brother and sister, who are like sixteen months apart,
so they were pretty close in age. My parents gave
them a car when they were sixteen, so they had
a car that they could drive whenever they wanted. When
I turned sixteen, guess who had to go to the
bank and get a loan, car payment, pay zone, insurance,

(18:44):
all of that.

Speaker 4 (18:44):
So that's not fair, mom and dad.

Speaker 5 (18:47):
I'm still upset about it.

Speaker 3 (18:50):
And I also think I've never received or given anything
that extravagant.

Speaker 4 (18:54):
But here's how I feel.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
I think when you tell somebody to take back a gift,
even if it's an extravagant one, you're taking away their.

Speaker 4 (19:05):
Joy of giving. Yeah, okay, it's their money.

Speaker 3 (19:08):
If that's how they want to spend it, then let
them spoil.

Speaker 4 (19:11):
Or do whatever. All right.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
That's my first thing. And the second thing is we
should not be keeping score. Okay, we should not be
keeping score about how much, when whatever.

Speaker 4 (19:21):
Just accept it and move on.

Speaker 5 (19:24):
Easy, Okay. I agree with you.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
I want to know if other people have received some
crazy gifts out there. If you're listening right now, eight
sixty six ninety two, seven four three sixty one, what's
the craziest gift you've ever gotten it? And did it
cause problems in your family?

Speaker 5 (19:36):
Again?

Speaker 2 (19:37):
I think I need to see a therapist about it. I'm
still upset about this now. I didn't realize until just now.
