Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point
one wash Out.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Good morning, It's Toby and Chilly in the Morning on
ninety seven point one wash FM. I'm kiddo'she and for
Toby this week.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
I'm glad to see you sitting across from me on time.

Speaker 4 (00:14):
Well, I was worried that I gave you a heart attack. Chili.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
We text every morning so I can let you know
what time I'm going to be here. I have to
take uber a lift every morning, so sometimes the time varies.
I'd just like to let Chili know once I'm in
the car when i'll arrive.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
It's generally between four and like four twenty in the morning.

Speaker 5 (00:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Yeah, this morning, I was running a little late. It
took a little bit longer to get a car. I
got in the car, did my text, and then I realized,
oh my gosh, I just texted five twenty five instead
of four to twenty five, which would be twenty five
minutes after the show starts.

Speaker 4 (00:41):
And I was like, oh, Chili's gonna freak out.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
I didn't even see the first mistake the text that
you sent, because I was busy writing something. But even
if I had and even if you hadn't even noticed
you you sent the wrong time. Because of who you are,
I would have known it was the typo, because if
you were genuinely going to be here five minutes after
the show started, I doubt it would have been in
a text you would have called frantic. It could have

(01:05):
been like apologetic.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
I'm not the kind of guy who's being like, hey,
I'll be there twenty five minutes late, deal with it.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Just do the show by yourself until I get there.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Well, I hope everyone else is running on time this
morning and off to a good start. We're glad that
you're here with us. Chile is working on Top Stories
coming up next.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Yeah, some National Guard troops are already now deployed alongside
DC Police. We've got the latest on that in just
a few minutes. Top Stories, Top of the Out, Top
Stories presented by Celsius Energy Drinks. Well, some National Guard
troops are now deployed alongside DC Police troops reported for

(01:40):
duty yesterday. The Trump administration says homeless people in the
district could face jail time in his federal crackdown. The
full eight hundred or so troops are going to be
set for full duties by the end of the week.
The President's going to be speaking with Ukrainian President Zelenski today.
This all comes before Trump is set to meet with
Russian President Vladimir Putin this Friday in Alaska to discuss

(02:04):
an end to the war in Ukraine. A three year
old boy is in critical condition after he fell from
a sixth story balcony in College Park yesterday afternoon. He
was flown to a local hospital with life threatening injuries,
and officials have not said how that fall happened. An
undercover operation in Loudon County found that twelve of thirty

repeat offenders facing twenty five hundred dollars fines. Police a
The crackdown targets businesses who violate the under twenty one
sales law. Maryland Tax Free Week, by the way, in
case you don't know, is in full swing. It's through Saturday.
Means no sales tax on clothes and shoes that are

one hundred dollars or less, and it also eliminates the
sales tax on backpacks up to forty dollars. And Ford
says that two of its small SUVs. You know, the
fourdescape and the linking Course Air will go out of
production later this year. That planned where those two vehicles
are built is now going to produce a new mid

ninety We do have a chance of storms later. Right
now it is seventy two in Sterling.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
All right, thanks Chili.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Our Morning Mindset is an inspirational quote we think will
help start your day. We'll share that with the next
plus more music as we get started together here on
this Wednesday on ninety seven point one wash FF, Britney
spears ninety seven point one Wash FM with Tobe and
Chile in the morning. I'm kiddoshe from Good Morning Washington.
It is time for our morning mindset.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
So John vance Shamy says the soul would have no rainbow,
had the eyes no tears. That suggests that without experiencing
sadness or even hardship like tears, we really wouldn't be
able to appreciate the beauty and joy like the rainbow.
So difficult emotions are in important part of our lives.

(04:01):
They give depth to our experiences and they help us
recognize and cherish the brighter and happier moments. So remember
what John vance Cheney said, the soul would have no rainbow,
had the eyes no tears. And you can find that
quote on the Toby and Chili page at washfm dot com.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
Excellent.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Coming up next, the craziest things You've seen at a hotel.
Wait until you hear what a guy saw recently when
he checked into a hotel in Miami. We'll share that
with you, plus take some of your phone calls as well.
At eight six six nine two seven four three six one.
You're listening to Toby and Chili on ninety seven point
one wash FM. Toby and Chilly in the Morning, ninety
seven point one wash FM. It's kiddoshe in for Toby.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Have you seen the story out of Miami. There is
a Wyndham hotel like Kinta by Windom, and they're facing
a lot of backlash because a guest checked in when
they walked in with a video through video with a
worker that was clearly being outside, like it was a
man and his face like an ipadopad.

Speaker 4 (05:05):
Was waiting there for you and that was your check in.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
Yeah, Like he's talking to you through this iPad from
God knows where he lives, and they're clarified that that
particular hotel is independently owned and the virtual check ins
are not less necessarily brand approved. But clearly, if this
is happening at a property and the way technology allows
us to be somewhere without physically being there, this is

(05:27):
probably gonna start popping up in more places you travel
for your job at ABC seven. How would you feel
about walking into a hotel and having to check in
through somebody on a computer, like a face on a computer.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
I'm fine with it if it speeds up the process
and you don't have to wait in a line, because
sometimes you check into places and you have to wait
in the line. So maybe this means you can speed
up the process a little bit.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
What about you, No, I think this is the hospitality industry.
You have one job and that is to be there
physically greet your guests in person.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
You want somebody to make the map out for you.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
I just need a human being.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
You need a human like and.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Physical there, not through a computer.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
It got us thinking, if you're seeing computer screens for
check ins, what's the other crazy things you've seen in
a hotel? Eight six six nine, two seven four three
six one. Meg in Stafford, what happened when you checked
in to a hotel?

Speaker 6 (06:20):
Checked into my room, pulled back the blanket and there
was a whole rotisserie chicken just sitting in my bed.
No plate, no foil, just.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Chicken on the sheet.

Speaker 6 (06:29):
I called the front desk and said, there's a chicken
in my bed, and they moved me. No questions asked,
but I still very much have questions.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Oh my goodness, and that is insane, and this question
would would the virtual guy have been able.

Speaker 4 (06:44):
To use your room? Who's your call? Was a chicken
in your bed?

Speaker 3 (06:47):
Who is taking that out? Also? I thought I had
therst wild story, which is the bed bug experience I
had once, But no, Meg, you definitely beat that chickens it.

Speaker 2 (06:58):

It's not going to be long before you start to
see National Guard troops patrolling the streets of DC. Over
eight hundred Guard members were told to report to the
d C Armory to receive their assignments by the end
of the week. The head of the DEA has now
been chosen to lead the federal takeover of the DC
Police Department. President Trump picked Terry Cole as the interim

(08:15):
federal administrator of the local police. A child has been
hospitalized after falling from the sixth floor of a building

to the three year old's fall. The Justice Department says

of the Civil Rights Act. GWU now faces sanctions unless
it reaches a resolution with the government. The White House

(08:59):
others were after a carbon monoxide leak in a downtown
DC parking garage. This happened along E Street early yesterday morning.
Officials say that gas powered power washers that were used
in an unventilated space caused that incident. And according to
a recent study, couples who gossip together apparently are happier

(09:20):
and feel more connected, especially after a social event. On average,
partners gossiped thirty eight minutes a day, mostly with each
other and with same sex couples reporting the highest well
being after doing so. Partly cloudy and humid day highs

while we're at the event and gossip during the event.
All right, Coming up next, the new survey reveals what
hobbies women find most attractive in men. The number one
hobby on this list may surprise some men, including me.

Speaker 4 (09:59):
We'll share that with Good Morning.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
It's Toby and Chilly in the morning, ninety seven point
one Wash FM. We're so happy to start the day
with you. I'm kiddo'she from Good Morning Washington. Is there
a hobby your partner does that you find attractive? Here's
why we're talking about it this morning.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
Ninety eight percent of women who were polled said that
the most attractive hobby a man could have is reading.
Number one, Ding Ding, Ding Ding.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
I agree wholehearted, So you find that very attractive if
a man is a reader.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
I didn't marry a guy who reads, but when I
was single and mingling, I loved it when I came
across a well read man because I am a bookworm
and that was woo sexy. Now you are in a relationship, yes,
Is there a hobby of your current partners that you
found to be very attractive.

Speaker 4 (10:48):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
Well, first of all, I am not a reader. I
would say my partner's not a reader either, so we
are both not readers. So that's not the quality. But
he watches sports and that's one of his hobbies. And
he's very passionate about the Green Bay Packer, and so
am I, and so I find that very attractive.

Speaker 4 (11:02):
Okay, very attractive.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
Okay, it works for you.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
Guys now started dating. That's all we did was watch
sports together, and you still do.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
The second most attractive hobby is learning other languages. Oh,
that is also very cool. And playing an instrument. I mean,
how typical is that? I date the guy in the band?

Speaker 4 (11:19):
I have nothing in the top three. By the way,
it doesn't matter he found your person.

Speaker 7 (11:24):
Toby and Chili's nearly impossible question?

Speaker 4 (11:27):
All right, Chilli, what is today's question?

Speaker 3 (11:29):
A recent poll says that people eat twenty one of
these a month, and sixty percent of people say eating
one can turn a bad day into a very good one.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
All right, sir, thinking, do you know the answer to
the nearly impossible question? Eight six six nine two seven
four three six one two tickets to the Commanders versus
the Bengals preseason game at Northwest Stadium on August eighteenth,

Well, we want to make you better. You've got the question,
what do you think? The answer is, uh, a cookie?
Do you feel better right after eating a cookie?

Speaker 5 (12:56):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (12:56):
I do, especially chocolate chip one. I was gonna ask
what's your favorite. I'm going with oatmeal raisin. What about you, kidd.

Speaker 4 (13:02):
I've never seen a cookie that I didn't like.

Speaker 3 (13:07):

Should grandparents be allowed to buy their grandkids anything they want?
No rules? Not in the Chiliamar household. Chili's dad is
in trouble. We'll tell you why. Coming up next. Good Morning,
It's Toby and Chilly in the Morning on ninety seven
point one Wash FM. I'm kidd o'she from Good Morning Washington.
Should there be rules when it comes to what grandparents
can buy their grandkids?

Speaker 3 (16:51):
I say yes, and you may not agree. The backstory
here is my eighty four year old dad was watching
our eleven year old earlier this week because there's no camp.
My husband and I were both at work, and my
dad usually doesn't have to watch to notato for more
than an hour. Yeah, but this was a longer chunk
of time. So in that time they went out for

(17:12):
breakfast cool, and then he took him to Target, and
then he brought him home and he had purchased him
something that we do not allow in the house, like
a type of toy that we don't want our son
to have.

Speaker 2 (17:24):
And Dinato probably knows that this is a toy that
he's not supposed to have. Correct, of course, says it's
not all grandpa's fault.

Speaker 3 (17:30):
Interesting you bring that up, because he even said to
my dad, Mom and dad don't want me to have
one of those, and my dad says to him, I'm
the grandfather, don't worry about them, I'm buying it for you.
So I got into a fight with my dad. I said, no,
you have to consult with us before you buy him
something like this, and he says to me, why are

(17:52):
you robbing me of my grandfather?

Speaker 4 (17:55):
Joy?

Speaker 3 (17:56):
I looked forward to this type of thing my whole life,
that I could buy Hi my grandchild whatever he wanted.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
So I've never met your father, but I side with
your father on this one.

Speaker 4 (18:06):
Chili.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
I as a proud uncle of three nephews and a niece,
and I don't have any kids, so I am able
to be the uncle that can spoil them.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
It wasn't even the dollar amount thing, it was whatever.
So you don't consult in any way, shape or form.

Speaker 6 (18:20):
No.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
I respect what you're saying, and I think there are
a lot of parents that can relate to that, but
we kind of got thinking here, what are you know
the best parts of being a grandparent and should that
just be allowed.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
Since I apparently ruined it for my grandfather, my own father.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
To hear from you this morning, our phone number is

part of being a grandparent after Chili may have ruined
it for her father, who was a grandfather.

Speaker 3 (19:02):
Okay, so yeah, he bought my son a toy without
consulting with us first, because well, we don't allow my
eleven year old to play with this thing, and I
had to return it yesterday and exchange it for something
that was more acceptable. My dad was unhappy because he said,
one of the best things about being a grandfather is

(19:23):
buying your grandchildren whatever they want.

Speaker 4 (19:26):
Please, I couldn't agree more.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
But I don't have kids eight six six nine two
seven four three six one Drake from Chantilly, what's the
best part of being a grandparent?

Speaker 8 (19:36):
I think the best part is getting to spend time
with your grandkids, But then they go home for the
hard stuff. Grandparents get to have all the fun and
almost none of the pain in the butt things.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
Yes, the pain and the butt things. Thank you, Drake.
Funny you should bring that up.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
Was there a meltdown when you told Donado that he
was no longer going to be able to keep that toy?

Speaker 4 (19:54):
You got it, Grandpa.

Speaker 3 (19:56):
I had to deal with it. My dad went back
to his peaceful home. Well, I had an eleven year
old having a tantrum.

Speaker 4 (20:03):
Yes, everything is good now, correct?

Speaker 3 (20:05):
Yeah, Well, he's also going to spend time with Brandpa today.
