The traffic stop attempt on Georgia Avenue happened around eight

into the district. A teen has been arrested for allegedly
(03:07):
threatening at d C school. Police and the ATF started
investigating after a social media post and a Wednesday search
of a DC home uncovered multiple firearms. Amtrak's new next
Genessella debuted at Union Station yesterday. It runs between d C, Philadelphia,
(03:27):
New York, and Boston with five Gi Fi power outlets,
upgraded lighting, and a modern cafe. And finally, a new
study finds that people living within thirty miles of the
ocean live about a year longer than average, likely due
to cleaner air, milder weather and more recreational opportunities. Now
(03:47):
no similar benefit was found for those near rivers or lakes.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
We try to help you get into a good headspace
by sharing a quote for the morning mindset.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
And since we've got another best of the eighties weekends
straight ahead of us, as we all prepare to enjoy
Labor Day, thought we would go back to the eighties
for this song from Chicago with some some words, some
lyrics that might inspire sometimes the best things in life
are the ones we leave behind. Sometimes the best things
(05:05):
in life are the ones we leave behind. You know,
sometimes making a move is tough. Sometimes you don't want to,
but you have to, and sometimes that might just be
the best thing that could possibly have happened. So keep
that in mind today. If you're going through something, you're
facing a choice, you might find that you have to
(05:26):
make some sort of a move. Chicago from nineteen eighty
four and Hard Habit to Break says, sometimes the best
things in life are the ones we leave behind. That's
your morning mindset four this Friday morning. If you need
to hear it again or read it again, you can
the Toby and Chilipage WATCHFM dot com. Just check it
(05:47):
out on demand in the podcast and stay right there
because coming up next.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
Now, sometimes the best things left in life or left
behind are voice messages, yes, talkbacks from you whenever we
talk about something on the show. And earlier this week
we asked you guys to share the most bizarre request
of friend made and it looks like Megan in Rockville
shared a message and.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Well listen to it together. Coming up, stay right there
Labor Day weekend. Toby and Chilly in the Morning ninety
seven point one Watch FM. I know, we just have
to get through today first. You know, we talk about
a lot of stuff during the week on the show
and we love listening to your thoughts.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
Yeah, you just hit that microphone on the iHeartRadio app
and send us a message. And earlier this week, we
asked you guys to tell us the most bizarre request
a friend made from you.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
Now, if you missed it, Tilly, you had a friend
who asked you to do something pretty bizarre.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
In high school.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
She wanted me to call her crush and pretend to
be one of those people who does surveys on the
phone to learn more about him.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
Well, I mean, did it work out for your friend?
Speaker 4 (06:58):
Yeah? They got married see years later.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Well, now my question is this is that request is crazy?
Is this request? Megan left us on talkback.
Speaker 6 (07:10):
So my friend Melanie asked me at one point to
pay for her six hundred dollar meal that she had
from a safe house. It was a crapered event, so
she didn't have enough money and she asked me to
pay for it. I obviously said no. But that's from
(07:31):
the visitary beings that my friend had asked me to do.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
Yeah, no way, I don't care how close to a
friend we are. I am not going to put your
six hundred dollars meal.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Well, chili, but wait, what if it was like a
corporate event? You know, you know you're gonna get the
money back anyway.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
How do you know she said nothing about reimbursing. You're
making an assumption.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Well, I do know what they say about assumptions exactly.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
I would say to her, you know what, you need
to get in the kitchen and start washing those dishes.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
Come on, Chili. Perpetual optimism is a force multiplier. The
class is half full.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
You know what's not multiplying my bank account. I am
not paying for your steak, your shrimp, and clearly all
the alcohol.
Speaker 4 (08:17):
You must have ordered.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
If you'd like to speak out, tap the talk bag microphone.
You've got to be signed into your iHeart app to
use it. Tap Speak, send that voicetow'll come to us

to be shipped to America duty free or without having
to pay any tariffs. Republicans are pushing a bill that
would let the President extend control over DC police to
six months. Arizona Congressman Andy Bigg says the measure would
(09:58):
give the President authority to address what he calls an
ongoing chaos in the city. The CDC is facing a

Kennedy Junior because she was not aligned with the President's agenda.

it's incredible talent.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
It's so good that we're actually going to post it
on the Toby and Chili page at washfm dot com

Speaker 3 (14:41):
Congratulations, So she's going to go see the lumineers at
Nationals Park on September sixth. Now it was back in
eighteen eighty two. You had said something interesting about that
whole history of Labor Day, Toby.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
There's a whole lot of things that I could tell
you it was.
Speaker 4 (14:56):
It was initially brought about because it was.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
Born out of brotes. People wanted better working conditions. So
the first one was in New York City. Ten thousand
workers hit the streets. They wanted an eight hour workday.
So your day off is brought to you by those
people back then who got a little unruly.
Speaker 4 (15:16):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
Oh and one more fun fact, it's not just an
American holiday. Canada celebrates Labor Day two on the same day,
inspired by the American worker.

the mother of the Catholic school shooting suspect, who once
attended the school, whose mother reportedly had worked at Annunciation Church.
The shooting left two children dead and eighteen others wounded,
and authority say that the suspect had legally purchased those
weapons and had no prior criminal record. A former justice
(17:13):
department employee who threw a sandwich at a federal officer
in the district is now facing a misdemeanor assault charge,

Have you heard of the Virginia Vatisse. Yes, it's the
county's first and only women's semi professional basketball team, and
they're already headed to the playoffs in its very first season.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
This milestone means more than just points on the board.
It's an emblem of dreams becoming real and community spirit
coming live. What does batist mean?
Speaker 6 (20:06):
Chilly?
Speaker 3 (20:07):
By the way, I believe it means speed in French.
How appropriate? This whole thing started with twenty eight year
old Ashley couranteg I hope I'm saying your name right, Ashley.
She's a local woman who turned her childhood love of
basketball into something extraordinary. She brought together a group of
dedicated female athletes juggling jobs, responsibilities, and aspirations to not
(20:30):
do it for a paycheck, but for pride, empowerment and
the pure joy of the game.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
And as they get into the postseason, the batis Carrie.
More than just the hopes of a team, they carry
the heartbeat of Ladden County itself. They're gritty, supportive, and
determined to lift every player higher.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
Now there's one more moment for the community to rally
behind them before they go to the playoffs. Their final
regular season game is going to take place this Sunday,
four pm at Virginia Academy in Ashbourne.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
That's when they're going to take on the Richmond road Runners.
And if you go, it's a chance for you to
celebrate just how far the Fatis have come and to
cheer them on for what's going to happen next.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
And we love that the Batist just gave the whole
spirit of Loud and County a stage and now as
a playoffs approach, the real magic is just beginning for
the team.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
Feeling good. There's a reason why the Virginia Batist helping
us all to feel good on this Friday. Good luck
this weekend, and thank you for everything you've brought to
the DMV. It's ninety seven point one watch fm orre
Tybey and Chilly in the morning.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
Now coming up next. We all know it can be
very expensive to decorate.
Speaker 4 (21:46):
A dorm room.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
Oh really, wait till.
Speaker 4 (21:48):
You find out how much some parents are spending.
Speaker 3 (21:52):
Toby, you have no idea, but we'll all find out next.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
I'm just thankful my kids graduated. Back to school. It's
ninety seven point one wash FM, Toby and Chilly in
the morning. Back to school can also mean back to campus,
and for some people it's year one in college. Grab
your wallet for this. Some people are spending a ton
of money on dorm rooms.
Speaker 3 (22:17):
Yeah, some parents are dishing out twenty thousand dollars for
their kids' dorm room. I cannot imagine that in a
million years.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
Sounds like tuition. Wow, you need to take out a
loan just like do up the dorm.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
Thinking back to your own daughter, I know she graduated college,
but what a more realistic budget do you think.
Speaker 2 (22:39):
All things considered for us, it was about maybe one
thousand dollars could have been a little bit over. But
you know when you throw in bedding and you know,
school supplies and things that they need for the walls
in the dorm and stuff to hang up, see, it
can add up. But not to twenty thousand dollars worth
this stuff. That's insane.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
I think that's happening because a lot of these kids
or parents want their dorm rooms to look in staff fabulous.
It's like they're trying to create a pinterest fantasy room
and it's getting out of hand. Yeah, and that's just
the college students. The moms and the dads must be
trying to live vicariously through the kids. Because I don't
(23:21):
know anybody, anybody who had a dorm room where they
spent twenty grand on stuff just to pimp it out,
as it were. I don't even know if every piece
of furniture in my whole house is worth that much.
Speaker 4 (23:34):
If I'm being honest, unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
But we do want to know more realistically, how much
did you spend on your child's dorm room.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
And how much should we be saving to pay for
a dorm these days? Give us a call tell us

She says the US is not prepared for another major
outbreak and lacks the resources to prevent chronic diseases. Republicans
are pushing a bill that would let the president extend

(25:59):
Bigg says the measure would give the president the authority
to address what he calls ongoing chaos in the city.
DC officials are conducting an overnight census to count the
city's homeless population. The mayor says the effort will help
track unsheltered residents and then guide the allocation of homeless
services after federal efforts cleared camps. IndyCar reportedly considering a

street race in the district next year to celebrate America's
two hundred and fiftieth birthday. The plan is still in

close to home this Labor Day weekend. About two thirds
not going to be traveling, while a quarter will hit

the road and ten percent will fly. Twenty two percent
of people plan to host or maybe even attend a cookout,
