Toby and Chilly Mornings on demand on ninety seven point
one Wash them.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Why are you feeling good this morning? Toby and Chilly
in the Morning at ninety seven point one wash them.
It's Tuesday. It's a brand new week. Fortunately it's a
short week. I swear to you. If I hear somebody say, well, Tuesday,
that feels like a Monday, I'm going to get very cross.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
You mean, like like you just said yes exactly, like
I just si all right, good because.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
It's one time, one time, very nice. But it's it's
good weekend. It was good weekend. How was your weekend?
Speaker 3 (00:37):
I'm feeling good. It was good weekend. It was lovely
weekend weatherwise. And today I'm feeling good because I am
being rebellious. I mentioned this to you off the air
when you and I were talking last week. I came
in here wearing white shorts and a linen top, so.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Blah blah, there's nothing wrong with that.
Speaker 4 (00:55):
After Labor Day, I'm wearing my white.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
And linen and linen, That's what I'm saying. If mine
were clean, I would have worn it.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
Do people even follow that anymore? I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
I don't I don't know you know, I think it's subjective.
I know that when I lived in Florida, they were like,
it's okay, Florida rules.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
I think, as long as the weather is nice and
warm and right pleasant like it is, it's not as
weird to be wearing white after no.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
Or linen.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Yeah, I mean, nobody wants to deal with hot that's right.
I'm happy because Kyla came back. Yeah, came back from
her sojourn home to see mom, and she brought a
friend with her.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
Your daughter brought a guy friend.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
Or guy friend.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
Oh, well, so he's staying with you? Yes, Oh my goodness.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
Yes, I'm happy she's home. I am, she says she
told me, But I don't really recall it like you.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
Would remember if she said she was bringing a dude home.
Speaker 5 (01:58):
I'm with you on this one, Toby. I'm not upset
about it at all. And they seem to have a
good time. They went to the Nats game yesterday. It's
kind of like, I guess, a vacation for him and whatnot.
But I just I feel like I would have remembered that, yeah,
(02:19):
had I been told that.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
But anyway, well, you know, you take what you take,
and you take what you take and you just enjoy
the best of it. Class is half full. Tooby and

We'll check in with you to see how things are
a your world this morning coming up in just minutes.
(05:04):
Welcome back to the grind on this Tuesday with Syby
and Chilly in the Morning ninety seven point one Watch
FM on The good thing about it being today is
that we're in a day closer to the weekend already.
That's right as we had yesterday off.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
Now, if that doesn't put you into a good morning mindset,
maybe the quote that Toby's gonna share right now, will.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
Mark Zuckerberg heard of him. He's DC's newest, one of
DC's newest residents, and he made this thing called Facebook
upon reason and belief. Mark Zuckerberg says, move fast and
break things. Mark Zuckerberg la zuk says, move fast and
(05:46):
break things. You gotta move quickly. Don't be afraid of
making mistakes, breaking things along the way. Move quickly, because
in that movement you might just find what she is
the world. Mark Zuckerberg with today's morning mindset, need it again?
Find it? Toby and Chilipage waschfm dot com or hit
(06:08):
us with a quick email, will send it your way.
Coming up with Toby and Chili in the morning.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
You know what makes me feel good eating chocolate? But apparently,
and I don't know how this is possible, but there's
a song out there that makes chocolate taste sweeter?
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Yes? Really?
Speaker 4 (06:25):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Well if you stay right there, well tell you this
song and how they figure that it worked out this.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
Way, and you know what, You've got time to grab
a piece of chocolate because we'll play some of the
song for you.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Yep, get ready, I'm going to get some right now,
if you'll excuse me. Oh, Chocolate, Toby and Chilly in
the Morning ninety seven point one wash FM. Is there
anything better than chocolate? I'm thinking chocolate right now. Chocolate
in the morning, chocolate in the afternoon, chocolate in the evening.
(07:01):
But chili. What is it about this song that'll make
chocolate taste even better?
Speaker 4 (07:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (07:07):
This researcher studied how pitch, speed and key influences the
taste perception through multisensual integration. So they created this song
called Sweetest Melody.
Speaker 4 (07:19):
Haha. How appropriate.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
It's got seventy eight beats per minute and It's designed
to melt in your ears during the same amount of
time that chocolate melts on your tongue. Piano notes bring sweetness,
the strings at silkiness, and harp tones smooth the experience,
(07:45):
turning desserts into a full symphony.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
That is quite the symphony, and I'm sure that it
probably makes chocolate taste a lot better. However, this is
the song Chilli that makes chocolate tastes better to me.
Speaker 4 (08:11):
Yeah, that works too.
Speaker 2 (08:12):

Speaker 3 (08:58):
Congress returns today after the August recess, as a possible
government shutdown looms large. The annual spending battle will no
doubt take up much of the calendar to avoid a shutdown.
September thirtieth, a President Trump is hailing DC as a
crime free zone, saying that partnership with Mayor Muriel Bauser
has driven crime down to virtually nothing, and he's pressing
(09:20):
other Democratic run cities to adopt his strategy. Meanwhile, Chicago's
probably next on the city list targeted in the immigration crackdown.
A DC group is pressuring federal agents to stop wearing
masks through its home of the Brave Ad campaign. They
say ethical officers should not hide their faces, but Homeland
Security defends masks as protection against doxing. A Maryland man
(09:46):
is in custody in Texas after a deadly shooting in Gaithersburg.
Police say that thirty nine year old Luis Kintanilla shot
and killed a thirty five year old woman at their
shared home Sunday morning in Montgomery County. Now, Virginia is
among the states that is hit hardest by job losses
because of the President's cuts, housing slow down and also
(10:11):
reduced federal spending. A state Line analysis shows that Virginia
saw significant job losses in the second quarter. Arlington firefighters.
They came to the rescue of a TikTok Star Chester.

Forecast for today, lovely sunny skies. Highs around eighty Right now,
(10:56):
it's fifty seven in Arlington.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
Well it's shelby and chilly. In the morning it is
ninety seven point one. Was chef them stay right there?
Why because coming up in just minutes.
Speaker 3 (11:08):
I am part of a sleep study and it was
an at home sleep study.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Wait a minute, they do those things at home.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
Yes, there's a difference between the at home version and
an inclinic version, and I'll kind of run down the
differences in just a few.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
Yeah, that's interesting because I had the go to a
place in sleep overnight kind of study. If I could
have done it at home, Wow, don't go anywhere. We're
Toby and Chilly in the morning. First of all, I
just want to say, there's nothing wrong with Chili, Toby
and Chilly in the morning. It's ninety seven point one,
(11:44):
was Chef m But I am curious. You went to
have a sleep study. What's going on? Well?
Speaker 3 (11:49):
I wanted to have a sleep study because, as you know,
we were crazy hours and we're tired all the time.
And one of my doctors said, maybe there's something else
going on more than just you're not sleeping enough.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
So the sleep study I did last week was at home.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
At home. Yeah, how did you guys? Because I did
a sleep study like ten years ago and I did
the sleep study at a sleep clinic and I had
to sleep over and I was all wired up.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
Well, they have that too, and the first thing they did,
and that's what I thought was going to happen too,
but instead the sleep center said, first we want you
to do at home to monitor your oxygen so that
we can eliminate any sleep apnea.
Speaker 4 (12:35):
If that's an issue.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
And all that involves is literally wearing something, clipping it
onto your finger. It's almost like a pulse ox Toby
really and then you download an app on your phone
and you start recording and it sends them the data.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
How does the finger relate to what the nose and
nasal passages are doing?
Speaker 3 (12:55):
Mostly your oxygen level. Okay, so if there's like a
really big dip in your oxygen, they're gonna know there
might be some APNA going on. Now, if that comes
back and there's no issue with that, then the next
level would be to bring me into the sleep center
where they check your breathing, your oxygen, your heart rate,
your brain waves, your eye movements, your limb movements. I mean,
(13:16):
there's a lot of stuff that they monitor for.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
Remember they wired me up.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
You know what I feel like is gonna happen here
in the next couple of weeks. When I go back
for the assessment, They're gonna be like, listen, you seem
to be waking up a lot during the night, and
I'm gonna be like, yeah, because my husband snores. And
then they're gonna say it's time for a permanent sleep divorce.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
Well, sorry, Don.
Speaker 6 (13:42):
Shelby and Chilly's nearly impossible question.

hundreds joined a Labor Day freedom run in Northwest d

an alleged shoplifter Friday night. Police say the suspects slashed
the worker, but was quickly arrested. In Prince George's County,

with early voting already underway and then the election itself

Now that you've got the news top stories at the
top of the hour, want to tell you a study
that finds that Americans are borrowing a ton of money
from friends and family. We're talking about fifty two billion
with a B, and it's straining relationships and obviously causing
(19:16):
drama for families. We're going to talk about this coming
up in just a few minutes, and if you want
to be a part of the conversation, please call us
now eight sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty
one or tap the talk back microphone if you're signed
into your iHeart app to get involved. That is next
Tuesday morning at ninety seven point one, watch FM Toby
(19:38):
and Chilly in the morning. Wow. Look at this statistic
about borrowing money.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
Wow, Americans have borrowed fifty two billion dollars from friends
and family, and the loans frequently strain relationships.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
I love you see why because like, if you need
the money, you kind of want it back, you know
what I mean? Like, Hey, I'll loan you this for
a week, but I need it by like next monday.
And if it doesn't come back by next Monday, problem,
you're screwed.
Speaker 4 (20:10):
I am really glad.
Speaker 3 (20:12):
No one has asked to borrow money from me, not
a friend, not a family member. And if they have,
if it's north of one hundred bucks, I would like
to know why they need it. And to your point, Toby,
what is the repayment here? And I would never lend
money unless I absolutely won't miss it, do you know,
(20:33):
because then that's where resentment comes in.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
Now, have you lent money to people in your life?
Speaker 2 (20:39):
First of all? Eight sixty six ninety two, seven forty
three sixty one here at ninety seven point one wash FM.
If you hear something that triggers you and you want
to jump into the conversation, feel free, Chilli. Yes I have. Okay,
I've lent money to a relative, and I've lent money
to friends and I have not seen that money back
(21:00):
at all.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
So has it strained the relationship with either that relative
or that friend.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
I try not to let it, but I know that
it's an undercurrent to the conversation, to any conversation or
any kind of time, you know. And I remember a
time when I wasn't so great with money, and I
remember a time when maybe there were some people, some
friends that I didn't repay. And so sometimes I think
it's karma. But because of my own experience, and then
(21:26):
because of the experience that I've gone through more recently,
I just choose not to any more at all. Okay,
and I've got college tuition to pay for it.
Speaker 4 (21:36):
You know, what do you think? This is the Bank
of Toby?
Speaker 2 (21:39):
Yeah, right, come on now, you need to march yourself
down to Bank of America or PNC or something else.
Not me, No, So what do you think age six six,
nineteen seven forty three sixty one. Have you a loan
of friend money or a relative money before and they
haven't paid you back? What did it do to the relationship?
Make it awkward? We would love to hear from you,
(22:00):
So grab the phone and give us a call or
leave us a talk back message, and we'll get into
this coming up in just a little bit.
Speaker 3 (22:07):
But first, Marianna went on an international first date through zoom.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
I wonder how the connection was. We'll find out coming
up with Toby and Chilly in the morning. Stay close.
Speaker 6 (22:20):
It's Toby and Chili. It's crazy first day.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Hello in Woodbridge, Mariana. Welcome Chili and I cannot wait
to hear this crazy first DAID story. You've got to
drop it on it.
Speaker 7 (22:31):
I met the young lady who was overseas, and actually
our first date was watching a movie. Well she's in
the Philippines while I'm in the US. And the way
we work it out, this was at our laptop and
then I'm the camera shafing the TV, and our headset
and microphone are beside us and electronically decide to side
watching a movie together.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
What was the movie?
Speaker 3 (22:50):
You guys were watching thousands of miles apart together?
Speaker 7 (22:54):
Pretty woman?
Speaker 2 (22:54):
Did you like me candles? And perhaps maybe serve some
dinner or share dinner?
Speaker 7 (23:00):
Well, she was eating breakfast, I was eating dinner.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
Oh see, different time zone stof Oh okay, I see, yeah,
that's true.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
That would be that would be very very tough.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
Okay, So now the movie ends, Mariano, what happens next?
Did you guys guys continue having a conversation. Was there
any more talk of seeing each other.
Speaker 7 (23:18):
About a year later, I decided to meet.
Speaker 3 (23:21):
Up with her to the Philippines, so then there was
an in person date. What did you do that day?
Speaker 7 (23:25):
Well, she picked me up and then we went to
an island called Barakai, went to the beach, and my
intention was actually to propose to her.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
So after a year of just having a relationship through
a camera with your computer and a decent Wi Fi,
I would hope you decided to pop the question on
your first meeting.
Speaker 7 (23:43):
We continue to communicate almost daily. With the technology. Now
I was able to get in on her family and
her family was able to get some of mine. And
two months beforehand, the parents knew I was going to
take her to the island to propose to her.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
So when you proposed to her on that beach on
your first in person day eight, what was her reaction?
Speaker 7 (24:02):
Mariano, And of course she was shocked, nottt knowing's going on,
and she said.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
Yes, I'm thankful this didn't go white lotus Sonya.
Speaker 7 (24:09):
Overall of us. To me, it's a blessing because just beautiful,
not only in the XK you, but she's beautiful in
the inside. Yes, so hard, that's where I Sally love it.
Speaker 4 (24:17):
We're assuming you guys are still together to this day.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
Yes, ma'am, well what zoom brought together? Let no man
put asunder? That is an incredible story. And your story

Speaker 3 (26:19):
Congress is back after its August recess today. With a
possible government shutdown looming September thirtieth, lawmakers are expected to
spend much of the week negotiating the annual spending battle.
To avoid a shutdown, President Trump is calling DC a
crime free zone, crediting his partnership with Mayor Bowser for
driving down crime to virtually nothing, and now he's encouraging
(26:42):
other Democratic led cities to follow suit, while Chicago maybe
next in his immigration enforcement efforts. The President also announced
yesterday he's going to be awarding a former New York mayor,
Rudy Giuliani, the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Giuliani, who is
seriously hurt in a recent car crash, was once praised
(27:03):
for his leadership after nine to eleven, but then later
faced disbarment and criminal charges over false claims related to
the twenty twenty election. Shopper's Food is planning to close
four Maryland locations by October eleventh. This includes stores in Essex, Waldorf, Westminster,
and New Carrollton. Now, the chain has not provided the
(27:24):
reason for those closures. Some good news for commuters, Three
Prince George's County Green Line stations, Branch Avenue, Suitland and
Naylor Road have all reopened after a month long closure
for repairs including upgraded rails, cables, signals, lighting and signage.
And according to a recent survey, about three quarters of
(27:45):
workers and many children experience the Sunday scaries you know,
the pre week anxiety that it often begins apparently around
five seventeen PM, and many cope with TV walks or
music through. A quarter of them say they really aren't
sure how to shake the stress of Sunday scaries. Forecast
(28:06):
for today, Maybe this will help. It's going to be lovely,
Sonny eighty the High right now sixty in Centerville.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
There you go. That's the news. Toby and Chilly's top
stories at the top of the hour. Fifty two billion dollars.
That is a ton of money for Americans to be
borrowing from friends and family. Obviously it leans leads to
relationship strain. So do you have some thoughts on this?
Have you ever been burned by lending some money? Have
(28:35):
you ever borrowed money but paid it back, or maybe
you just didn't pay it back. We'll discuss next as
Toby and Chilly in the Morning continues at eight six, six, nine, two,
seven forty three sixty one. Where Toby and Chilly in
the Morning, let's get back to the conversation we were
having about lending money, how it can cause stress on
(28:57):
relationships because people just blow you off and they don't
pay you back.
Speaker 3 (29:00):
And yet you know, fifty two billion dollars worth of
money is borrowed and lent amongst friends and family every year.
Speaker 2 (29:08):
And that's a ton of money. Now, has that ever
affected you? Have you lent somebody money, maybe they stiffed
you on it, or maybe it was you that stiffed
a friend and it costs some sort of an issue.
We're talking about it this morning, joined the conversation. Give
us a calle tap that talk back microphone if you're
listening on your iHeart app. Clara not Barton, thank you
(29:31):
for listening to us this morning in Vienna. What happened?
Speaker 8 (29:35):
My sister recently loaned me five hundred dollars to fix
my car, and I've got to say it was a lifesaver.
Like I didn't know what I was going to do
because I didn't have the money and my car and
I needed to get to work, I needed to take
my kids to school, and she loaned me the money
and it saved my life. So I still have the
payback and I planned the payback, but I'm just so
(29:58):
thankful that she was general.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
See that's a good thing. Good Samaritans do exist.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
And you do have plans to pay back, so therein
lies another difference, So good luck with that.
Speaker 2 (30:09):
Thanks guys, I'll have your show, not as much as
we love yours. Now, who are you hey, Tooby?
Speaker 9 (30:14):
This is John and Woodbridge, and I'm right there with you.
I've loan money to family members, to friends, and I
rarely see any of it back. It doesn't bother me,
you know what I mean. If they need it, I've
been fortunate enough to do okay, So I'm fine. I'm
fine with it, and I appreciate hearing that.
Speaker 4 (30:33):
John, do you have any more room in your life
for friends?
Speaker 2 (30:36):
I know right I was going to say, Chili Daddy
Warbucks is online one.
Speaker 10 (30:41):
Thank God.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
Goodswinnapolis, Frank, what's up?
Speaker 10 (30:45):
Ten years ago? I loaned my brother one thousand dollars
and he swore that he would pay me back, but
he never did.
Speaker 4 (30:52):
Did it change a relationship with him?
Speaker 10 (30:54):
Yeah? It strained the relationship, you know, to this day.
Like I mean, we're cordial with each other, but we're
not closing again. Money don't do it.

Mindset from Mark Zuckerberg. Maybe you've heard of him. He says,
move fast and break things. Mark Zuckerberg, the Zuck founder
of Facebook, upon reason and belief, move fast and break things.
There's something to be said about that. Don't be afraid
(32:50):
to break things along the way. Move fast, move quickly.
Break what you've got to break, because it probably needed
to be broken anyway. Have a great Tuesday. It's ninety
