Yeah, it was later in the evening. So no, we're good.
Why are you feeling it?

Speaker 2 (01:19):
I'm feeling good because there were napkins and I cleaned
up the coffee that I spilled in one of the
elevators this morning. Yep, feeling good because I found napkins
in the kitchen. And then I went and I waited
on the right elevator. I sent all of the other
ones down except for the one that needed me to

(01:40):
clean it up because I spilled it. See that's the thing.

from a listener who was really bothered by the fact
that his ex wife was keeping his last name and
wanted some advice.

Speaker 4 (06:14):
Well, looks like someone left us a talk back.

Speaker 2 (06:16):

So Marcus sent us an email saying that he's divorced now,
but his ex wife wanted to keep his last name
and he was wondering if he should be bothered or
if he's just overthinking it.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
Had a very lively discussion about it yesterday, and May
and jumped in via talkback wanted to add her thoughts.
As we were wrapping up the show yesterday, and so, Megan,
what do you think I.

Speaker 7 (07:10):
Think he should just leave it be because that last
name doesn't hold a significant reminder to both of them. Yes,
she still has it that I don't think having the
same last name means something to her anymore. We're as

(07:31):
a youthed city when you guys are both married.

Speaker 5 (07:33):
Julie, you're married. So what do you think?

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Well, I shared on the show yesterday that I thought
he was overthinking it, and a majority of people who
called also said that. And it looks like, Marcus, if
you're listening right now, it's okay. She can keep your
last name. She may get remarried someday and change it.

Get tell all the details in just minutes now, Fergie

Speaker 3 (08:52):
National Guard troops are expected to stay in DC through December,
with the deployment extended just to make sure that service
members in their face families received benefits like housing and healthcare,
but officials have not yet set a final end date
for that deployment. Victims of Jeffrey Epstein say they're working
to compile their own client list. Speaking on Capitol Hills,

(09:15):
survivor Lisa Phillips says they know the names of those
who were regulars in Epstein's world. She added that they
aren't sure how or even if they would release that
list publicly. Prince George's County Police say that a body
found in Ann Arundel County may be that of nineteen
year old Dekara Thompson, who went missing back on August

(09:36):
twenty third.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
While the body has not been.

Speaker 3 (09:39):
Confirmed as hers, investigators note there are similarities. DC Mayor
Muriel Bowser has issued an executive order requiring the city
to coordinate with federal law enforcement. She issued a statement
saying that the order will provide the pathway forward beyond
the presidential emergency. Meanwhile, DC police will get a third

(09:59):
ti eighteen percent raise next month, with the council set
to approve that deal on September seventeenth. The mayor also
aims to grow the forest from thirty two hundred to
four thousand officers, and a new survey finds Americans second
guest forty one percent of their daily decisions, with one

(10:20):
in eight rethinking nearly everything, and that overthinking even extends
to grocery shopping, where people spend about four minutes deciding
on every single item. Forecasts for today partly cloudy skies,
We have a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. High's around
eighty five right now, though sixty two in Opton.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
I want you to think about how you make major
life decisions. Now that you've got the news tough stories
at the top of the hour.

Speaker 5 (10:49):
Give us a call.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
It age sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one.
When it comes to major life decisions, do you make
those decisions based on gut?

Speaker 5 (11:00):
You know, the gut feeling.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
I just have this gut feeling that I need to
do X, Y or Z. Well, seventy percent of Americans do.
We'll discuss more coming up in minutes. Is Toby at
Chilly in the Morning continues ninety seven point one Watch
FM Toby at Chili in the Morning. It seems that
seventy percent of Americans make major life decisions based on

(11:25):
gut you know, those feelings that you can't really explain
away but just come from some place deep down inside.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
I'm kind of shocked that that number is that high,
that they're going on sort of a vibe check for
major life decisions. I would love to say that I
have great intuition, and I probably do, Toby, but I'm
way too analytical to listen to said gut.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Sometimes I will tell you that my gut feelings have
pretty much always been right. Even when I think they've
been wrong, I turn around and they end up being right.

Speaker 5 (12:04):
Now.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
That's sometimes they're wrong sort of a situation, but for
the most part they're right.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
Well, and I think that there is something to be
said about your inner voice. It's there for a reason.
And I think the perfect combination would be taking into
account what your gut is saying, and then also looking
at the facts of something before you dive into a
major decision like a new job or leaving a job,
a new relationship or ending that relationship. And throughout life,

(12:33):
I'm the person who overanalyzes, and sometimes that leads to
decision paralysis.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
That's not to say I don't do my homework. I
do do my homework. When it comes to, like, you know,
life decisions that involve money or income or job, those
are gut feelings that get passed through the prism of
what is this going to mean if I say yes? However,

(12:58):
for the most part, gut feeling doesn't steer me wrong.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
You know, Now, how's your gut feeling when it comes
to answering questions?

Speaker 2 (13:06):
My gut, I would tell you is probably right on point.
Is your gut on point? Well, let's find out.

Speaker 4 (18:25):
Later this week.

Of it lately.

Speaker 11 (19:46):
That's an understatement. Yeah, what's going on? Well, you know,
starting this new job. I'm in the middle of a move,
you know, so that you put all those things together
just the same time, which was coincidence.

Speaker 5 (19:57):
It's a lot to juggle.

Speaker 4 (19:58):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (19:59):
So I know Toby and I haven't known you for
very long, but he and I have often talked in
the last two weeks about how extremely well you perform
under pressure, at least as far as this show goes.
So why are you feeling any extra pressure?

Speaker 9 (20:13):
Then?

Speaker 4 (20:13):
I'm not understanding it.

Speaker 11 (20:14):
I think I just put the extra pressure on myself.
I want to give one hundred percent to everything, and
when I'm having to multitask and juggle so many things,
I feel like I'm not giving it. Oh, so it's
the pressure's all from within.

Speaker 3 (20:28):
So Your talent is that you perform well under pressure.
The pressure is you added more pressure to everything else.

Speaker 2 (20:36):
And so now you're stressing out because of all of
this pressure.

Speaker 5 (20:40):
I'm my own problem.

Speaker 4 (20:41):
When is this going to get better? Like you know
the pressure cooker situation for you?

Speaker 6 (20:45):
Well, the move is over, so now it's getting settled down.

Speaker 3 (20:48):
Wow, so we've only gotten the what version of crash?
Can you imagine the full octane version? I can't imagine.
Don't take this the wrong way, but this is great.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
I mean, if this is under pressure, I want to
see what crashh.

Speaker 5 (21:04):
Uh huh, free to create is all about?

Speaker 2 (21:07):
Because wow, you're good under pressure, man, you really can.
I'm not just blowing sunshine up your dogs. That's causing
more pressure. Well no, but the.

Speaker 3 (21:18):
Reality of the situation is when you were really good
at something, you do feel the pressure of that as
a result.

Speaker 2 (21:28):
Yes, that is true, and sometimes it can be hellacious.
Sometimes you do like crash and you put yourself through
the ringer? Is this ever happened to you? Eight six
six nineteen seven forty three sixty one tell us everything.
We'll circle back on this coming up in just minutes.
As Toby and Chili continues, but next oh.

Speaker 3 (21:50):
Yeah, we've got another one of your crazy first date stories.
Jerry in Rockville. Her date went in for a kiss
and it ended up in a very Harry situation.

Speaker 5 (22:01):
You can't miss this in minutes.

Speaker 6 (22:05):
It's Toby and Tilly's crazy first date.

Speaker 5 (22:08):
Good morning Jerry and Rockville.

Speaker 2 (22:09):
I'm Toby an Apolong with Chilia mahar and we hear
you've been on a crazy first date or you have
a crazy story, so drop it on us.

Speaker 12 (22:17):
So I go on a date with this guy.

Speaker 9 (22:20):
We go to the movies.

Speaker 12 (22:21):
During the movie, you know, he starts, you know, trying
to kiss me, and I'm like, whoa, whoa.

Speaker 9 (22:25):
You know.

Speaker 10 (22:25):
So we kissed a little and I'm like, okay, we're
here to watch a movie.

Speaker 6 (22:28):
Blow your roll.

Speaker 12 (22:29):
And so the movie's done.

Speaker 10 (22:31):
We go out into the hallway and he kind of
like looked at me and he's like, I didn't think anything.

Speaker 12 (22:36):
I'm like, why why did he do that? But I didn't,
you know whatever. So we go outside, we go get
ice cream. You know, we're walking around and then I
have to use the restroom. So I go into the bathroom,
I look in the mirror and I get out of
the bathroom, you know when you wash your hands.

Speaker 10 (22:50):
I have a mustache on my upper lip that he
gave me when he kissed me. How with a grease
pen or something, I don't know. Oh, he dock in
his mustache.

Speaker 3 (22:59):
And when he saw you in the lobby, he realized
what he had done, but I guess he's too embarrassed
to point out the fact.

Speaker 4 (23:04):
And he gave you a mustache exactly.

Speaker 10 (23:07):
So when I went into the bathroom, I was horrified.
So I'm trying to scrub it off, and it, you know,
it wasn't coming off, and then my lips all red,
and so I go out there and I'm like, why
did you tell me this.

Speaker 12 (23:17):
Was on my lip?

Speaker 3 (23:17):
He's like, oh, oh, I didn't know.

Speaker 10 (23:19):
I'm like, you didn't know. So anyway, that's not someone
I want, you know, to share a life with. Who
can't tell me that I have a mustache that you
gave me. So he wasn't my person.

Speaker 2 (23:29):
Would you have been okay with that had he come clean? No,
pun intended about the mustache he left on your face.

Speaker 10 (23:35):
Absolutely, if you had just told me right away, oh,
you know what you should go, you know, wipe off
your lip.

Speaker 3 (23:40):
Did he even try to make it up to you.
I'm sure he realized when you didn't call him. Did
he even try to get you to go out with
him again?

Speaker 1 (23:49):
Oh?

Speaker 10 (23:49):

maybe even more from yourself, to be at a certain
level of performance.

Speaker 3 (28:10):
Geez, Rodney, I think you're teaching us all a lesson.
We should all just be mediocre, don't try at all,
don't be so great.

Speaker 2 (28:18):
Leslie, Good morning, and thanks for calling from Fairfax. You
felt some pressure from being really good at something? Tell
us what was it.

Speaker 12 (28:27):
