they're moving from home to home, and that's a practice
that really does strip away a little bit of dignity
every single time.

also called Lisa's Law. Now, the law came from someone
who knows this system firsthand, having spent her childhood in

had stood outside the White House continuously since nineteen eighty

Volunteers would maintain that visual see it as a violation

girl at the time and her boyfriend were harassed by
anonymous text messages and really the big reveal on who
the person was that was sending it as a shocking
part because it was somebody that was close to them.
But ye, honestly, that's one of those scandals that I

don't know how any teenager could ever overcome.

It was one heck of a plot twist. And when
you watch it, if you get a chance to watch it,
if you've got Netflix, you'll ask yourself, I think, how
this could even happen? And then you'll ask yourself, I think,
as a parent, specifically as the parents of a young girl,
how do they come back from something like that? Because mentally,

the damage is going to take years and years to
correct to fix. And that's assuming that this person who
was cyberbully ever gets over it.

Yeah, I think going back to that school is really hard,
and everybody knowing who the perpetrator was even tougher. But honestly,
I'm just really glad that there were no major scandals
in my high school. I can't think of any what

You know, people used to skip out on lunch to
run to the taco bell that was nearby the school,
and that was a big problem. That's about it. Eight

youth are getting a small but powerful upgrade, real luggage
and set of trash bags to carry their belongings around.

You know, for years, kids who are in foster care
they're forced to pack their things into garbage bags when
they're moving from home to home, and that's a practice
that really does strip away a little bit of dignity
every single time.

That started to change. In twenty twenty four, they passed
the Luggage for All Youth and Foster Care Amendment Act,
also called Lisa's Law. Now, the law came from someone
who knows this system firsthand, having spent her childhood in
thirteen different foster placements. She remembers the humiliation of having

to carry her things in trash bags, and she wanted
to make sure that today's foster kids don't have to
feel the same way.

And the Lisa we're talking about is Lisa Cohen, who
is born into foster care along with her four brothers,
and now through the Bags of Dignity program, Foster Youth
and DC are getting proper suitcases thanks to a ten
thousand dollars grand and also a wave of community support.

Over twenty one hundred bags have been collected so far,
and that exceeds their initial goal. What started is a
personal mission really has grown into a community effort, turning
a small change into something that gives these kids a
real sense of respect, care and belonging.

Lisa Cohen for coming up with such an incredible program
and for giving us a reason to feel good.

ace the test, and I don't remember the kid's name,
but I do remember that he ended up getting expelled.

threw a party for all of us right for graduation,
and they were letting us drink, but they were being

The cops showed up with light sirens the whole thing,
and the's mom and dad ended up getting arrested cufftom
right in front of us. It was insane. It felt
like something out of the movie.
