How is your weekend?
Speaker 2 (00:12):
You know, Chili Just a nice, easy, no drama weekend.
How was your weekend?
Speaker 4 (00:18):
Even though the weather wasn't perfect. On Saturday, we celebrated
my sister's fiftieth birthday. Yes, the big five. Oh, and
it's a big milestone. So a bunch of us cousins
got together and had a little tea party. There's like
a tea bus.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
In downtown DC. I've seen that.
Speaker 4 (00:35):
Yeah, it's a very cool concept. But I had a
little bit of fomo, if I'm being honest. Okay, we
never did anything for my fiftieth.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
Oh.
Speaker 4 (00:43):
It was right as we were coming out of the pandemia. Ah,
people were still kind of just trying to get used
to being in public again and stuff, and I just
didn't want to bother.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
So you're in and a winery, a table separated, and
you can't really see anybody.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
I mean, it was at the people were doing stuff
again in public, and I know, but to be honest,
I didn't want to plan my own That's true.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Never have to plan your own milestone.
Speaker 4 (01:06):
If somebody had said, Chili, we want to plan your fiftieth,
I would have been like, okay, do it tell me
when to show up.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Well, I think we should plan a fiftieth for you. Well,
really and related fiftieth. We don't need to call related,
You'll just be fifty again. I don't mind that.
Speaker 2 (01:21):

had a great weekend as well. However you celebrated the weekend.

Ninety seven point one wash FM. I'm kiddo'she time for
the morning mind. Muhammad Ali once said, the man who
views the world at fifty the same as he did
at twenty has wasted thirty years of his life. This
is a reminder that time alone doesn't equal growth. You
(04:12):
really have to let it shape you. Life shape you
think about your own journey. Maybe when you were in
your twenties, you thought success mean having the perfect job
or chasing recognition, But now you've gone through loss. Perhaps
maybe you've changed careers or just had your beliefs challenged
by real experiences. And it's these moments, you know, the
hard ones that are meant to stretch you, to maybe
(04:32):
soften you and expand your view of the world. So
don't hold on to the same outlook you had decades ago.
Have you been living or just aging? So Mohammed Ali
once said, the man who views the world at fifty
the same as he did at twenty has wasted thirty
years of his life. You can find that quote or
share your own on the Toby and Chili page at

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Chili, thank you. I needed that morning mindset this morning.
Hope you're in a great mindset on this Monday coming up. Now,
we all know the movie Shrek. Well, now there's a
new dating term that is really taking off. It's called shreking.
So what is it and why does Chili think this
is absolutely horrible? We'll share that with you next Toby
and Chilly in the Morning, ninety seven point one wash FM.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
I'm kidd O'Shea shreking.
Speaker 4 (05:18):
It's a dating trend and I think it's despicable.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Well, explain to me what shreking is.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
Well, it's when you purposely date down, meaning you date
someone who you consider below your standards so that you
can have the upper hand in the relationship, because then
you believe the other person should be so grateful to
have you, and they're going to keep going extra miles
to keep you happy.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
Well you interesting? Well interesting or horrible?
Speaker 4 (05:47):
I mean, come on now, it could lead to some
very unpleasant reckoning or shrekening when the supposed inferior person
doesn't treat you nearly as well as you might expect.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Well, Chili, as you're saying this, I'm thinking, I think
I've been shrecked.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
Really, you were dating somebody that was quote unquote above
your league or out of your lead.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
I think they maybe thought that.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
And yes, this was when I was a little bit
younger in my twenties making terrible decisions in life probably,
But yeah, this person was really attractive, and I think
they had this thought of like, I'm beautiful, I can
do whatever I want.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
You should be oh so lucky to help me in
your life. And how did that go for that person?
What did you say or do? I got up and
moved to Washington, d C.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
Okay, go ahead? Tell us who was visiting?
Speaker 2 (10:08):
So my partner's mother was staying with us. We live
in a one bedroom apartment in Washington, DC. We do
have a pull out bed in the living room. That's
where we put her. And I told you that this morning,
and you said that's not appropriate.
Speaker 4 (10:23):
You should have given her your bed. And why didn't
you and your partner sleep in the pullout couch?
Speaker 2 (10:29):
I said to you, why would anyone want to sleep
in our bed?
Speaker 4 (10:34):
Well, that would be up to her to decide whether
she would accept that invitation or say no, no, you know,
I'm okay, I'll sleep out here.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
But here's what I here's why I reacted the way
I did.
Speaker 4 (10:44):
Yeah, if I was crashing at your place, right, offer
me the pull out. It's someone's mother, Like you need
to have a little I think the way I was raised,
you would at least offer up your bed instead of
the couch bed, you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
Like, it's just our bed is far more comfortable than
the couch bed that one.
Speaker 4 (11:04):
Would think it would be, so you should have given
it to her. I mean, how long did she stay?
Speaker 3 (11:08):
Just two nights?
Speaker 2 (11:09):
Oh my goodness, So you're telling me I lost points
with my partner's mom if he didn't.

Starting your Monday with Toby and Chili in the morning
on ninety seven point one Wash FM. I'm kidd o'she
What is your top fear of getting older? Here's why
we're talking about it.
Speaker 4 (16:40):
Hair Loss apparently is the top aging fear among Americans.
Two and five adults identify it as our biggest concerns
about getting older. This is both men and women and
across every generation. Wrinkles was like a second place, sure,
but I don't even care about those things, even though
I've been losing my hair thanks to menopause. Yeah, those
(17:02):
are such superficial things.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
I mean, a wig. You could wear a wig if you're.
Speaker 4 (17:06):
Worried about hair loss and wrinkles. Come on, now, you
can get botox, right, there's a solution for that.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
Correct. Do you have any of these fears?
Speaker 2 (17:15):
Well, I also am you know, as you age or
you have less hair. So I've always said I have
no fear of getting older when it comes to those things,
and I would never get botox in those things. But
the older I get and the less hair I have,
I start thinking, well, maybe I would do those things,
but I don't worry about it in the sense of
like it's just reality.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
What about you?
Speaker 4 (17:34):
I Mine is more of a physical fear. I worry
that I won't be as mobile as I get older, right,
because I want to have an active life. That's why
I have to do things now at fifty three, whether
it's lifting weights or whatever, so that I could be
more mobile and hopefully less pain moving around when I
(17:56):
get older.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
Well, I think you make up a valid point. I
think most people would say I'd rather have good health.
I don't care what I look like. You're able to
get around. So what is your top fear of getting
older and what are you doing to try to make
sure that when you get older those things are still there?
We'd love for you to join the conversation eight six

little screens showing visitors' faces. It's a reminder that the
story of the American dream includes everybody, including you. So

and entrepreneurship. So whether you're just starting school or you're
(19:36):
trying to get healthier or save for the future, there's
something meaningful to discover there. And among the exhibits there
are some personal finance lessons tucked into some unexpected places,
like behind old bank vault doors. This museum really isn't
just about looking back at success, but it's about what
people can do right now in their lives and in
the future, and it encourages everyone who visits to think
(19:59):
about what dreams really means to them, and how they
can build toward it and what's possible. And best of all,

about it.
Speaker 4 (23:44):
I guess one in five or two in five adults
worry about losing their hair. Hair losses number one fear,
and that's followed by wrinkles. And I honestly don't care
about either one of those things, because that's what wigs
and boatox is for.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
You know. There you go, nine four three six one,
Hannah and Frederick, what's your fear of getting older?
Speaker 5 (24:04):
For me, it's the memory thing. I already forget names or.
Speaker 2 (24:08):
Even why I walked into a room.
Speaker 5 (24:10):
Yes, but you know what, I've learned to give myself grace.
I just remind myself to remember the important stuff.
Speaker 3 (24:17):
There is a positive way of looking at that. I
love that. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day,
Thank you you two.
Speaker 4 (24:23):
Good morning John, thanks for listening to the show in Sterling.

All Right, So I'm a long distance runner, right and
Ellen's face it, I'm.
Speaker 5 (24:34):
No spring chicken now.
Speaker 3 (24:35):
But as I get older, running gets harder and harder,
and I know I'm not going to be able to
do this forever.
Speaker 5 (24:42):
And I know there will come a day.
Speaker 3 (24:44):
When you know I won't, I won't do it anymore. Yeah,
